Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Geraldine V. Nantz Geraldine (Gerry) V. Nantz., age 93, died Tuesday, October 13, 2010 in Sebring, FL. Gerry was born on August 23, 1917 in Scottville, MI to Max E. and Hazel E. (Lattin) Tyler. She lost both her father and brother while she was still very young. Gerry graduated from Hart High School and then went on to become a licensed beautician. She married Charles VanHouten in 1938, and divorced in 1945. In 1949, Gerry met and married Melvin E. Rooker. They moved to Battle Creek, MI and both worked for White House Ice Cream Company for many years before opening the Dolphin Lounge on S.W. Capital Avenue in Battle Creek. They retired in 1975 and Melvin died that same year. In 1979, Gerry married George Hoehne and they spent many years traveling around the world and attending county fairs. They wintered in Avon Park, FL. George died in 1990. In 1993, Gerry met and married Paul L. Nantz of Marshall, Michigan. They divorced in 1995. Gerry loved working in the yard and garden. She also loved books and was an avid reader. Before moving to Florida permanently in 2006, she was a member of the North Avenue Church of God in Battle Creek and a member of the Burnham Brook Center. Gerry had an unwavering love and commitment to her family. Surviving her are her children, Sharon (Larry) Whitney of Sparks, NV, Ronald (Janet) Van Houten of Sebring, FL and Shirley (Robert) Hughes of Battle Creek, MI. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Earl (Lylene) Hoehne of Marshall, MI and Martin (Velda) Hoehne of Vicksburg, MI; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at North Avenue Church of God, 1079 North Avenue, Battle Creek MI with interment of cremains following at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Jeannette Leonarda Kreps Jeannette Leonarda Kreps passed away peacefully the morning of October 13, 2010 at the age of 90. Jeannette began her life in Miele Netherlands, the youngest daughter of six children of Alphonse and Maria Joordens. In 1945, she met and married Robert Earl Kreps in Maastricht, Netherlands, who preceded her in death in 1975. Jeannette and Robert raised four sons in various locations including the Netherlands, Germany, Virginia and Battle Creek Michigan. Jeannette will be fondly remembered by her children: Robert (Sharon) of Tampa Florida, Bruce (Hallie Christine) of Battle Creek Michigan, Michael (Dr. Kerry Gilbert) of Kalamazoo Michigan, and Marcus (Debbi) of Kalamazoo Michigan. Jeannette is also survived by her niece, Marijke VanDillen of Battle Creek Michigan. Jeannette was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren, Wendy Burkhardt, Monique Kabbe, Jennifer Kreps, Michael Kreps, Devon Kreps, Gabrielle Steele, Kevin Kreps, Morgan Kreps, Robert Kreps, Kelsey Kreps, and Logan Kreps and eight great grand children all of whom will miss her dearly. Jeannette will be remembered for her sense of humor, her competitive nature for golf and bowling, her love of animals, her talent as a portrait artist, and her ability to meet people in every aspect of life and create a friendship. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, traveling, and tipping a beer with his friends. John was happiest when he was entertaining and cooking for his family. John was a beloved son, brother, Papa, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, James Hester II; brothers, James and Robert (Bob) Hester; and a daughter, JuJohnna Hester. John is survived by his mother, Agnes Hester; sister, Jay Ann Keys; son, Trevor Hester; step-daughter, Melissa Puckett-Smith; grandchildren, Samantha Dean, Jonathan, Jaden, Maya, Christian, and Connor Hester; a great grandchild, Izaiah Hester; and his loyal companion, Sassy. Lillian Ann Williams Battle Creek Lillian Ann Williams, 86, died October 13, 2010. Lillian was born December 18, 1923 in Hamtramck, MI. to William and Mary (Petryga) Briggs. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit in 1941. It was there she met her husband, Oland "Pete" Williams. Pete went on to serve in the military during, , and after his discharge, the couple moved to Battle Creek, where they were lifelong residents. Lillian loved cooking, reading, making crafts of all kinds, traveling, large family gatherings, and was an avid game player, but was especially fond of Farkle. Lillian is survived by her husband of 66 years, Pete Williams; two children, Sharon (Grant) Replogle and Michael "Jim" (Theresa) Williams; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. Lillian donated her body to the Michigan State University School of Medicine. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Thomas Francis Russell Delton Thomas Francis Russell passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010, peacefully at home with his family. Tom was born November 20, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Joseph and Gertrude (Smith) Russell. He graduated from Riverview High School in 1958 and, in 1963, majoring in Economics. His work followed many avenues such as sales, insurance, construction, remodeling, real estate and most recently, supervisor at Benteler Automotive, retiring in 2001. Tom loved the out of doors, golfing, fishing, the lake and being with his many friends. Tom married his first wife, Victoria Rudy in 1962, and his second wife, Linda Aston Pearce, in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Christine Russell, Heidi (Douglas) Weaver, both of Texas and Stephanie Russell of Kalamazoo; stepchildren, Teresa Pearce and Michele (Marvin "Skip") Morgan, both of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Thomas, Alexandra and Madison Weaver, Heather Johncock, Michael and Sara Worthington and Kristen Morgan; four great-grandsons, Braydon and Bryce Etheridge, Alexander Morgan and Landon Devenbaugh; two sisters-in-law, Deloris Richardson and June Aston; and a half brother, Charles Dewey Stone. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude, and stepfather, Arthur Tiura; his aunt, Thelma Jones; and a step grandson, Richard Miles III. George Philip Hanley PE George Philip Hanley PE, age 92, formerly of Rochester Hills, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 8th 2010. He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years Anastasia "Stacey", daughter Mary (Larry) Machacek, sons William "Bill" and John (Patricia). He will be missed by his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to parents John and Jane Hanley, he attended St Leo's High School and the University of Detroit with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and trained as a Licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan. He was a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers, a 70 year member. He was granted 18 US Patents, authored numerous technical papers, and was the author of two books, The Marmon Heritage and Firefighters from Prospect. After graduating from U of D, he worked at Long Mfg., Borg Warner and he taught at U of D for five years before starting a long career at, , beginning at Detroit Diesel where he fathered the V series 71 engine family as well as the 149 series engines. He finished his career at the General Motors Technical center in Warren as the manager for heavy duty vehicle emissions, Environmental Activities Group. In retirement he restored two Marmon cars and traveled the United States and Australia with his wife Stacey. There will be no funeral. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Sparrow Clinton Memorial Hospital, St. Johns Michigan. The family is being served by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, 989-224-4422.
