Augustin Manrique "Augie" Lopez

Augustin "Augie" Manrique Lopez, MSgt, USAF (Ret) Augustin "Augie" Manrique Lopez, MSgt, USAF (Ret) was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Born in Topeka, KS, on May 29, 1940, he met his wife of 51 years, Marilyn (Tholl) at a CYO dance when he was 18. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1959 and enlisted in the USAF. Augie and Marilyn were married April 22, 1960. They raised a family and traveled the world together with the USAF. They retired from the USAF in 1982. In 1984 they moved to Battle Creek, MI where he worked for the Defense Logistics Service Agency for 20 years. He retired from DLSA in 2002 and moved to Oscoda, MI in 2004. He was a strong man of faith and a true patriot. Augie passed away on December 25, 2010 surrounded by his loving wife and children. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Catherine (Eric) Schmidt of Augusta, KS, Lisa (Brian) Bowser of Wichita, KS; son, Tony (Karen) Lopez of Oscoda; grandchildren Michael, Nathan, Robert, Jacqueline, Christopher, Christine, Augustin, Amanda, Taylor, Sydney, Avery and Maya; and two great-grandchildren. A Rosary Vigil was held in Oscoda, MI. Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 7, 2011 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Topeka KS. Rosary will precede the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Veterans Association.

Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Donna D. "Dolores" Feldpausch Battle Creek Donna D. "Dolores" Feldpausch, 79, of Battle Creek and formerly of Albion went to be with our Lord on Saturday afternoon, January 1, 2011. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 6, 1931 the daughter of George E. and Maureen VanHouten. Dolores married Tom Feldpausch in Hastings, Michigan on April 24, 1954; he survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Kim (Michael) Brubaker of Battle Creek; her son, Craig Feldpausch of California; her grandchildren, Corey (Sarah) LaGro of Battle Creek and Jaime (Matt) Merlington of Battle Creek; great-grandchildren, Makayla LaGro, Parker LaGro and Peyton Merlington; sister, Linda Hyde of Mason, Michigan; and her sisters-in-laws, Anne Hubert of Hastings and Janet Cavanaugh of Cheboygan, Michigan. Dolores was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and volunteered for many years with Meals-on-Wheels. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge and played on various golf teams and bridge clubs. She also enjoyed wintering in Florida, but her true passion in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the request of the family they will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., today at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Gordon worked for the Battle Creek Fire Department for 25 years, retiring in l970. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. Thomas G. Hardy Athens Passed away December 31, 2010. Tom was born February 10, 1942, in Kalamazoo, the son of Arthur and Grace (Fairchild) Hardy. Tom was the fire chief of Athens, and the former fire chief of Hickory Corners. Tom was a millwright for several years, and a member of Millwright Local 1102, of Detroit. He enjoyed hunting, but his real love was being a part of the fire departments. Tom was constantly concerned about his "team". On June 2, 1963, he married the love of his life, Janice Mahoney, who survives. Tom is also survived by a son, John (Erin) Hardy, of Athens; a daughter, Kimberly Hardy, also of Athens; and grandchildren, Avery and Kendra Hardy. A memorial service will be conducted, Saturday, January 15, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at Athens High School Gymnasium, 300 E. Holcomb Street, Athens, Pastor Marvin Savola, officiating. Viola M. (Hull) Sarafin Grand Ledge Age 94, passed away January 3, 2011. She was born December 20, 1916, in Rochester, MI, the daughter of Ernest and Viola Mansfield. During WWII, she worked at Oldsmobile, and later she and her husband, William Hull, founded Superior Electric of Lansing, where she worked until her retirement in the early 1980s. Viola was a member of the Waverly 39ers and hosted many of their trips. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Leisenring; and husbands, William Hull and John Sarafin; brother, Ernest Mansfield; sisters, Ruth Platte and Lillian Scott. Surviving are: grandsons, Robert (Kimberly) Leisenring and Andrew (Melissa Francis) Leisenring; great-grandchildren, William and Alyssa Leisenring; 4 sisters, Mildred (Wilbur) Warren, Laura (Donald) Ely, Ellen Otto, and Anna (William) Sweet; as well as many nieces, nephews and step-family members.
