She was born November 28, 1935 in Bay Port, Michigan, daughter to the late John & Garnett (Barr) Wisenbaugh. She married Ronald G. Vincent Sr. on January 2, 1953 in Armada, Michigan. She worked many years as a cook for the former Ruth's Restaurant in Marlette. Clara enjoyed playing Bingo, Quilting, Embroidering and most of all, her family. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Sr. of Marlette, three daughters; Rhonda & Dale Kaake of Cass City, Michigan, Pamela King of Marlette, Michelle & Vernon Clapsaddle of Marlette, one son; Ronald Jr. (Pamela) Vincent of Gagetown, Michigan, one brother; Floyd Wisenbaugh of Owosso, Michigan eighteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers & sisters and one granddaughter, Christie. Funeral services were held at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Pastor DonaldBroughton officiating. Burial was in the Marlette Cemetery. CLARENCE S. RADER APPLEGATE Clarence S. Rader, age 70, a resident of Applegate passed away on Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky. He was born on October 22, 1938 in Carsonville, a son of the late Willard and Emilie (Schroeder) Rader. Clarence worked at Stokely-Van Camp in Croswell for many years. He enjoyed his John Deere tractor and was an avid collector of model John Deere tractors. Clarence also loved horses. He is survived by one sister; Louise Paterson, one brother; Cliff Rader both of Deckerville, several nieces, nephews, many great nieces, great nephews and many many great-great nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by four brothers; Louis, Charles, Robert and Carl and one sister, Ruth McComb. Funeral services were held at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Carsonville with Pastor David Barnes of the Carsonville Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment was followed in the Washington Cemetery. Charles F. ‘Chuck’ Norris of North Adams passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the “Mac” McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility in Hillsdale. He was born June 24, 1938 in North Adams the son of Robert and Gladys (Leonard) Norris. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie (Bonsteel) Norris whom he married on Oct. 9, 1965. He is also survived by one son, Scott (Vicki) Norris of Saginaw; two grandchildren, Dalton and Dylan Norris; one brother, Larry (Cindy) Norris of Danville, Va.; two sisters, Sally (Tom) Andrews of Reading, and Amy (Daniel) Moore of Oviedo, Fla; one sister-in-law, Marilee Norris of Tecumseh; mother-in-law, Dorothy Bonsteel of North Adams; step-mother, Norma Norris of Hillsdale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Norris. Chuck served his country in the United States Marine Reserve. He worked for the State of Michigan Department of Corrections in Jackson for 30 years and retired in June of 1997. He also enjoyed farming and gardening and spending time outdoors. At his request cremation has taken place and a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Charles F. “Chuck” Norris will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Paul Hane officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Hillsdale. In lieu of flowers friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the North Adams United Methodist Church or to the North Adams Fire Department.

David Dillon, 89, of Germantown Plantation, Germantown, Tenn., and formerly of Sturgis, Mich., entered the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 16, 2009, after  a short illness.  A memorial service was held in his honor at his residence. David was born on April 20, 1920, in Newton, N.J., a son of Edward and Lilly Dillon.  He grew up in Sturgis, graduating in 1938 from Sturgis High School, where he was a three-sport star in football, basketball and baseball.  After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1942, where he again lettered in three sports, he served in the Army Air Force during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.   After a short time in Coldwater, he returned to Sturgis, where he served as a biology teacher and coach for the next 27 years before concluding his career at Worthington Christian High School in Columbus, Ohio.  His  38-year career  culminated with his induction into the Michigan and Ohio High School Coaches Association Halls of Fame, recognizing a basketball career in which he recorded 454 victories. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Mary Marie (Freeland), to whom he was married for 67 years, and with whom he founded the Bair Lake Bible Camp in Jones, a Christian camp attended by more than 300,000 young people over the past 51 years. He is also survived by  five adoring children, Thomas (Michele) of Columbus, Ohio; Jack of Fort Wayne, Ind., Sandy Shook (Ray) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Marty Hogue (David) of Memphis, Tenn., and Robyn Hughes (Dave) of Geismar, La.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Weiderman, and his brother, Edward (Elizabeth) of Sturgis. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Adolph.    His life was clearly known by his dedication and service to Jesus Christ as reflected by his work at the Sturgis Bible Chapel, First Baptist Church (Troy, Ohio) and Grace Chapel  (St. Petersburg, Fla.).   Memorial contributions may be made to Bair Lake Bible Camp, 12500 Prang Street, Jones, MI 49061

She was born January 13, 1934, in Oxford, to James Milton and Mildred Elizabeth (Mitchell) VanWagoner. She married Frederick Michael Angle on April 10, 1952 in Lapeer. He was born in Jackson, Mich., on Jan. 19, 1945, the son of Donald and Wilma (Dilworth) Inman, Sr. He was married to Diane Hakes on Aug. 25, 1973, and she survives. Gary was employed by Ford Motor Company in Saline for nine years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows #145 in Onsted. He enjoyed races, playing cards, and listening to music. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Diane, Gary is survived by two sons, Garold D. (Tammy) Inman Jr. of Jackson and Brent (Jennifer) Vincent of Tecumseh; four daughters, Cindy (Michael) Karapas of Saline, Amber (Roy) Moore and Carol (Brian) Inman of Jackson, and Julie (Lacey) Gibson of Elsinore, Mo.; two brothers, Thomas (Linda) Inman and David (Sally) Inman both of Jackson, eleven  grandchildren, Joseph, Amara, Nicholas, Andrew, Dawn, Danielle, Tracy, Lacy, Garold III, Tyee and Anna; and nine great-grandchildren. Gerald A. Binkle 1936-2009 Gerald A. Binkle, 72, Harbor Beach, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Port Huron. He was born on September 2, 1936 in Harbor Beach to the late Albert and Martha (Abraham) Binkle. Gerry was a graduate of Harbor Beach High School, where he lettered in football as quarterback, basketball and baseball. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve. Gerry played for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and in the Canadian Baseball League with the Listowel Ontario Baseball team. He also played in the Huron County Baseball League, the Harbor Beach American Legion Team and the Harbor Beach Carlings Team. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He is survived by his siblings, Eugene Binkle, Harbor Beach, Ralph (Dorothy) Binkle, Port Hope, Dorothy Skinner, Traverse City and Esther Binkle, Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews. Gerry was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Sandman and Lois Bond; and four brothers, John, Bob, Bud and Jack Binkle. Geraldine E. Aungst, age 91, of Addison, passed away, May 21, 2009, at Lynwood Manor. She was born March 27, 1918, in Grass Lake, MI, the daughter of Orvall and Gertrude (Brown) Ellenwood. In August of 1939, she married Robert Aungst. He preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by five children; Leona (Bill) Thornton of Addison, Gerald Aungst of Jackson, Dale (Sharan) Aungst of Jackson, Gale Aungst of Litchfield and Terry Aungst of Cement City, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and six siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Lawrence LaFollette officiating. Burial will follow in Horton Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at J. Harold R. Missimer, 97, of Muskegon, died Thursday, May 14, 2009. He was born in Woodbine, Kansas on April 21, 1912, to David and Myrtle (Sidler) Missimer. He married the former Mary Gladys Graham April 21, 1935 and following her passing married Pearl Grindley. Mr. Missimer, a lifelong farmer, as well as a skilled toolmaker, concluded his working life with the Michigan State Highway Department for 10 years. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a lifetime active member of the Tucson Model A Ford Club. He traveled all over the U.S. He was well liked and entertained often at Sanctuary at the Oaks, singing, whistling and telling stories. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include son, Roger (Jane) Missimer of Muskegon; daughter, Lucile Missimer of Haslett; grandchildren, David (Linda) Missimer of Illinois, Catherine (William) Marlin of Colorado, John (Keri) Missimer of Illinois; great-grandchildren, Cody Missimer, Wilson Marlin, Jane Marlin, Abigail Missimer, John David Marlin, Andrew Missimer; sister, Evelyn Jost of Nevada and special friend, Eva Green. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Gladys, in 1983 and second wife, Pearl, in 2002. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 18 at Central United Methodist Church-Muskegon with the Rev. Randall Hanson officiating. Friends may meet with the family at a reception following the service. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Maplewood Cemetery, Reading. Helen Sontag, 72, of Sebewaing, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw following a six-month illness., She was born Aug. 27, 1936 in Kilmanagh, daughter of the late Edwin and Martha (Fuerst) Weber., She was united in marriage to James A. Sontag on June 8, 1957 in Gagetown. He preceded her in death in January 1997., Helen had been employed as a secretary at the Owendale-Gagetown School system for 19 years before retiring in 1998., She was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling., Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Mark (Sherry) Sontag, and one daughter, Terri Mihacsi, all of Sebewaing; four grandchildren, Darcie (Chris) Hohne of North Branch, Stacey (Scotty) Buehrly of Owendale, Charlie Mihacsi and Jennifer Mihacsi, both of Sebewaing; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Buehrly and Madeline Hohne; a half brother, Edwin (Chris) Weber of Kawkawlin; and several nieces and nephews., The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Interment will follow at East Gilead Cemetery in Gilead Township. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home. Jara was born on Sept. 2, 1952 in Sikeston, Mo. to Robert and Betty (Wright) Crowe. She married Mark H. Waldrop on September 14, 1992. Jara had worked at Adapt, Inc in Coldwater as a Caretaker and Shift leader. She was very active in outdoor activities and was a member of Bass Assassins. She was a 4-H leader in Branch County for 13 years. She had three special “pet peeves” (as she lovingly called them) while volunteering at 4H that had their own names for her, Destiny called her “Jara Gumdrop,” Teira called her “Joanne” and Stephanie called her “Suzanna.” She loved snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, fishing, golfing and motorcycling. “Old Jara” had a farm and enjoyed taking care of her animals. She loved to watch all gymkanha events and the kids that rode in them. She and her family lived in Coldwater since 1993 after moving from Valparaiso, Ind. She adored spending time with her husband and entire family and lived her life to the fullest. She is survived by her husband Mark, her three sons, Chris (Heather) Hall, Kevin (Tiffany) Hall of Coldwater, Mark (Amy) Waldrop, Jr. of Quincy, her two daughters, Shanna (Louie) Krick and Tabitha (Greg) Hunnaman of Coldwater. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Crowe of South Haven, Ind. along with her brother, Doyle (Sheila) Crowe of New Carlisle, Ind., two sisters, Sherry (David) Littleton of Wheeler, Ind., Pamela (Ricky) Medelin of South Haven, Ind. and 12 grandchildren, Kylee, Corey, Josh, “Little Bubba” (Kevin, Jr.), Sabrina, Audrey, Taylor, Jacob, Rachelle, Kori, Alexis and Porsche. John Bryant Forbes, age 74, of Clayton died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania.  He was born Nov. 14, 1934, in Pittsford Twp., Mich., to John Russell and Dorothy (Bloomer) Forbes. On May 28, 1955, he married Laura Barnett; she preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 2003. Then, on June 18, 2005, he married Marda Osmun at the Medina Park in Hudson and she survives. John enjoyed working on small engines, (especially lawn mowers), puttering around in his garage, camping, butchering and Halloween parties. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. In addition to his wife, Marda, he is survived by one son, John (Kathleen) Forbes of Hudson; six daughters, Karen (Merle) Eichler of Hudson, Dottie (Rob) Vinaske of Hudson, Rosemary (Gary Dearth) Leathers of Reading, Teresa (Daniel) Clark of Pittsford, Diane (Dave Norse) Forbes of Litchfield and Rebecca (Dave Risk) Lawson of Reading; two stepchildren, Kandi Tarr of Montpelier, Ohio and Kevin Monday of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Sam (Sue Harpole) Forbes of Haines City, Fla. and Robert (Norma) Forbes of Hudson; two sisters, Mary Jane Shaffer of Adrian and Noreen (Elwood) Barnett of Prattville; 19 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. June Marie Buchanan, age 83, of Centreville, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at Odyssey House Hospice in Palm Desert, Calif.  She was born in Allegan, Mich. on June 26, 1925, the daughter of George and Lali (Wait) Yeager.  She was married to Wendell Buchanan on Nov. 29, 1952, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Three Rivers.  Following their marriage, they resided in Three Rivers, Mendon, and Centreville. June was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, bike riding, and working outdoors in her garden.  June is survived by three children, David Buchanan and wife, Shelley, of Three Rivers, Andrew Buchanan of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Mary Hamminga and husband, Michael, of Defiance, Ohio; four grandchildren, Ryon Buchanan, Tom, Dan, and Sarah Hamminga;  one brother, George Yeager and wife, Roxy, of Oshtemo; a sister-in-law, Ima Jo Buchanan of Jackson; and nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell in 2003; and two brothers, Paul and Clarence Yeager. She was born on June 4, 1916 in Flint, daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel (Lackie) Thick. She married James H. Filion on September 6, 1941 in the Pinnebog First United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2004. Leona worked for many years at the Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Co., was a member of the Pinnebog First United Methodist Church and the Pinnebog Ladies's Club. She is survived by two sons, Donald (Nancy) Filion, Filion and David (Mary) Filion, Freeland; four grandchildren, Tracie (Abe) Beatty, Oxford, Suzanne Filion Foster (Jose Esquibel), Pasadena, Calif., David J. Marjorie L. Barnes, age 80, formerly of Colon, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the Sanctuary of the Shores Nursing Facility in Grand Haven. Marge was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Leonidas Township,  a daughter of the late Elwin and Edna (Williams) Kuder. She had lived in the Leonidas and Colon area most of her life, graduating from Colon High School with the class of ’46. On Aug. 24, 1949, she married Donald (Tootie) A. Barnes in Angola, Ind. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1989. She had worked for the former Continental Can Company of Three Rivers and for Cormers Company  in Colon. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Colon Lioness Club and Friends of the Colon Library. Marge also enjoyed quilting and genealogy. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Barnes of Lansing; three grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Sasha Perkins and Justin Barnes; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Gearhart, of Ann Arbor; and several nieces and nephew. Besides her husband, Donald, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred Barnes. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.  Funeral services celebrating the life of Marjorie L. Marlin Keith Potter, 85, longtime Hillsdale resident died Monday, May 11, 2009, while traveling home from Florida. He was born in Reading Feb. 25, 1924, to Ora and Katie (Richardson) Potter. He graduated from Reading High School in 1942. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Pacific. He was assigned duties as Flight Engineer and Top Turret Gunner and flew forty missions over Iwo Jima and neighboring islands aboard the B-24 "Star Eyes." After the war he returned to Michigan and attended Michigan State University where he received a Bachelor's degree in education before returning to the Hillsdale area to teach biology and coach football, basketball and baseball. In 1952 he began work at Hillsdale Tool and Manufacturing Company as shipping clerk. Over the years he served in various executive capacities until reaching the presidency in 1983. He retired in 1989 to enjoy golf, fishing and travel. Group affiliations have included the First Presbyterian Church, Hillsdale City Council, vice president of the American Cancer Society, vice president of the United Way, president of the Lions Club, board member at Key Opportunities, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, the Michigan State University Alumni Association, Hillsdale Golf and Country Club and the President's Club at Hillsdale College. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Carlyle and Robert and twin daughters, Catherine and Christine. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Scott) Potter; a daughter, Rebecca (Eli) Michaels of Chicago; a son, Jack (Elizabeth) Potter of Grand Haven and three grandchildren, John, Tom and Amy Potter. Funeral services for Marlin Potter will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale with Pastor Patti Beckman officiating. Mrs. Mary Sarna, 87, of Westover, Md. and formerly of Bad Axe, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 under hospice care with her daughters at her side., Mary was born March 22, 1921 in Detroit, daughter of the late John and Rose Pleciak., She married Frank Sarna Aug. 2, 1941 at. St. Cunegunda's in Detroit. He preceded her in death May 7, 1992., Mary lived in Bad Axe from 1986 to 2000 when she moved to Westover, Md. She was a former parishioner of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Sheridan Corners where she was an active member of the Christian Mothers and organized the annual fall craft show. She was an active member of the Bad Axe Seniors. Her hobbies included ceramics, knitting, crocheting, reading, doing crossword puzzles and baking the best pies in town. In Maryland, she was known as the "pie lady" where she took her baked goods to the farmer's market., Mary is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Marilyn White of Shelby Township, Mrs. Tom (Maryanne) White of Fort Mill, S.C., and Mrs. Grant (Rosemarie) Bryant of Westover, Md.; six grandchildren, Kristina (David) Kloc, Thomas (Amy) White II, Kerry White and special friend, Ashford Harrigan, Kelly (Mark) Kessen, Jerry (Susan) White, and Theresa (Jeff) Waldron; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Kurt and Brooke Kessen, Matthew, Emily and Jack Kloc, Emma and Julia White, and soon-to-be-born Bryce Waldron., Mary was preceded in death by one son, Jerome; and one son-in-law, Richard White., Cremation has taken place in Maryland. The funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008 at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Sheridan Corners. The Rev. Stephen Fillion, pastor of the St. Pancratius Catholic Church in Cass City, officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery., Arrangements were handled by the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly.

He passed away on April 5, 1990. Nina attended the Heritage First United Methodist Church in Snover. She was also a member of the Sandusky V.F.W. Auxiliary # 2945. She is survived by three sisters; Ruby Pagen of Chelsea, Donna (Jack) Adair of Bay City and Lena Heemer of Fraser, three brothers; Edward Rich of Deckerville, Vernon (Kathleen) Rich of Sandusky, Duane (Marilyn) Rich of Sandusky, a special friend, Vera Riley of Port Sanilac, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by three sisters; Veva McQueen, Velma Nichol and Winifred Lepine, five brothers; Herbert, Floyd, Delbert, Alvy and Eugene Rich. ROBERT GUY SOULE AUSTIN TOWNSHIP Robert Guy Soule, age 71, of Austin Township, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born on August 14, 1937 in Tyre to the late Guy and Muriel (Haggert) Soule. He was united in marriage to Nila Howard on July 13, 1957 at the Ubly United Methodist Church. Robert was a 1955 graduate of Ubly High School. He worked in the Detroit area laying residential brick. He retired from Tower Automotive in 2001 after 44 years. He has farmed on the family farm all his life. He enjoyed his cattle, farming, hunting and fishing trips, gardening and playing euchre. Most of all, Robert truly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nila, two sons; Mark Soule, Douglas (Veronica) Soule, five daughters; Deborah (John) Perhne, Carol (Michael) Kubacki, Sharon Soule, Susan Soule, Tamara (Michael) VanValkenburgh, two sisters; Fanny Babisczewski-Nieschulz, Leona (Wallace) Warner, twelve grandchildren; Laura (Curt) Vogel, Tracy (Vincent) Kuntze, Jason (Jamy) Kubacki, James (Jessica) Kubacki, Matthew Soule, Kelly Smithers, Michael Soule, Ashley and Cory VanValkenburgh, Eric, Darren and Samantha Soule, nine great grandchildren; Katelyn and Curtis Vogel, Shelby Kuntze, Rachel Vogel, Vincent Kuntze, Johanna, Jesse and Kaleigh Kubacki, Cailin Spearman, many nieces and nephews. Ralph Lee Robbins ,age 70, of Union city passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater. He was born on June 24, 1938 in Sherwood to Vernon and Vivian (Harmon) Robbins. He attended Union City Schools and joined the Army in 1955 serving three years at Hickman Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii and the remainder in Japan. He was employed at Clark Equipment in Battle Creek for 28 1⁄2 years. He was employed at Griswold in Union City, where he retired after ten years of employment. He was a past Master and Life member of Sherwood Masonic Lodge No.421. He also was a member of the Colon Chapter No. 81 R.A.M.. He was a sports fan and especially enjoyed the Detroit Tigers. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and a daughter, Rachel L. Robbins on April 17, 2003 . He is survived by a daughter Beth (Robert) Stickney of Union City, three grandchildren, Kathryn, Jacob and Caleb of Union City, four brothers and one sister. Randy Jackson “Ran” Bow, age 57, of Mendon died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at his home. He was born in Hudson on Jan. 10, 1952, the son of Charles and Rose (David) Bow. Ran was a 1970 graduate of Tecumseh High School, and resided in Tecumseh before moving to Mendon in 1991. He was divorced from Paulette Martin-Bethuram. Ran worked briefly as a pit-crew member at Michigan International Speedway and later worked as a bartender. Ran was a truck driver for Aero Bulk Carriers for 27 years and for L&L Transportation for the past year. He enjoyed hosting poker parties at his St. Joseph River home, and hanging out with his friends at Prairie Crop Service and the Blue Bird Café in Mendon. Ran is survived by three children, Kim Persing of Colon, Sara (Martin) Perkins and her husband, Kevin, of Vicksburg and Sam Martin of Three Rivers; seven grandchildren, Melissa Land, Meagon Persing, Stephen Persing, Baylee Perkins, Amber Perkins, Erin Perkins and Kevin James Perkins; three brothers and their spouses, Jerry and Kathy Bow of Lakewood, Colo., Glen and Kathy Bow of Adrian and Doyce and Barbara Bow of Nevada; several nieces and nephews; his Prairie Crop buddies, Dale, Sandy, Deb, Jesse, Bob, Willard, Skippy, JB, Derek, Smiley, John, Sheldon, Meat and Richie. Jan. 29, 1936 — May 21, 2009 Robert (Bob) Parish passed away quietly in his sleep Thursday morning, May 21, 2009, at his home, of natural causes. He was born Jan. 29, 1936, in Meridian, Miss., to Cora and Enoch Parish.  He grew up in and attended Jacksonville, N.C., Public Schools. Bob moved to Michigan in the 1950s where he met his wife, Harriet Jo-Ann Carter. Bob was active in the Labor Union Movement in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He began his janitorial business in the 1950s/1960s, then moved on to work construction in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and then onto GM where he remained until retirement in the 1990s.  Bob is best known for his work and leadership in the community with such projects as the East Side Project, East Side Basketball Camp and as as one of the founders of The Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. He served as President of United Way Lenawee County for many years. He was a strong leader and president in the labor union movement. He fought hard for the rights of his fellow workers and wanted the best for his community. He is survived by the four children he raised with his wife; Debra (Parish) Spann of Chicago, Ill., Gregory Parish of Adrian, Scott Parish of Adrian, and Robin Parish of Adrian. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Dawn Spann-Pierre of Ft Lauderdale, Fla.; Rosalynn (Nikky) Parish of Adrian; Lamar Parish of Adrian; Jennifer Parish of Cleveland, Ohio; Ashley (Parish) Mirelez of South Carolina; Joshua Donald of Adrian; Misha (Donald) Walker of Adrian; DeShawn Parish of Adrian; Ryleigh Parish of Adrian; Tyler Scott Parish of Jackson; Michael Anthony Powell of Austin, Texas; Scott Torres Parish of Onsted; Nyashia Torres of Onsted; Chris Torres of Onsted; Joshua Torres of Adrian. Robert Parish is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren: Denise Cayard- Spann, Daishon Spann-Shabazz, Dominique Spann-Shabazz, Destyni Spann-Shabazz and Qyrah Spann-Pierre, all of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Jurell Parish, Laci Sager and Lexi Sager, all of Adrian; Dorian Bakewell, Simone Bakewell, Ethan Stewart, all of Cleveland, Ohio; Adriana Mirelez of South Carolina, Iverson Rojo of Arizona, Braden Donald; Marcel Parish, Tyra Parish, Nevaeh Parish, Jada Parish, Ashante Tindall, Javen Carr and Lyric Walker, all of Adrian. He is survived by five sisters, Dorothy (Dudley) Marsh of Greenville, N.C., Margaret Ann (Parish) Semmons of Jacksonville, N.C., Clara (Parish) Brown of Okinawa City, Japan, Cora Dell Parish of New York, Betty (Parish) Goings of Memphis, Tenn., and two brothers, James (Cooter) Parish and Bobby (Sonny) Parish of Jacksonville, N.C., along with a host of nieces/great-nieces and nephews/great-nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Harriet Jo-Ann Carter Parish; his mother, Cora Lee Collins Parish; his father, Enoch Parish; sister, Mildred (Parish) Chapman; two sons, Jeffrey Lee Parish and Troy Enoch Parish, and grandson Raji Rochad Parish. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sherill Steven of Dickinson, N.D.; three granddaughters; two sisters, Marilyn Anderson of Cle Elum, Wash. and Doris (Larry) Pitts of Boise, Idaho; one brother, Robert (Pam) Barnett of San Diego, Calif.; special friends, Linda (Jim) Millar of Sturgis and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, The Rev. Rick Stevens. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no services scheduled at this time. Timberly June Ranshaw Lapeer Timberly June Ranshaw, 20, a lifetime Lapeer resident, passed away Wednesday (May 20, 2009) from complications due to Lupus. She was born June 30, 1988, in Flint, to Ian and Kimberly (Phelps) Ranshaw. Timber graduated from Lapeer West, class of 2006. She attended Mott Community College, where she earned two Associates degrees. She was currently attending Western Michigan University. Timberly treasured her time with family and friends. She is survived by her parents, Ian and Kim Ranshaw of Lapeer; sister, Taylor Ranshaw of Lapeer; fiance, Justin Pfieffer of Lapeer; grandparents, Dale G. Ranshaw, Sr. of Hadley, Alma J. He was born May 20, 1944 in Lapeer, son of the late William and Josephine Fenningsdorf. He and Lynda S. Conley were married on February 1, 1964 in Lapeer. William was a heavy equipment operator at Michigan Peat for 41 years. He leaves his loving wife; Lynda, two sons; Wayne and Jay (Wanda), one brother; James, three sisters; Norma Brown, Hazel Goodrich and Mary Fenningsdorf, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew on August 18, 1984. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Carsonville with Mr. Cary Janisch officiating. Walter W. “Wally” McDowell, 57, of Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born Oct. 19, 1951, in Hillsdale, to John and Gwendolyn (Knot) McDowell Sr. Wally was a former employee of Ford Motor Company in Saline. He was a 1970 graduate of Pittsford High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam era. Surviving are five siblings, Harriet (Les) Rogers of Billings, Mo., David (Theresa) McDowell of Bryan, Ohio, John (Ruth) McDowell Jr. of Osseo, Dale McDowell of Waterford, and Bruce McDowell of Honolulu, Hawaii; aunt, Sherry Duer and uncle, Brook Easton; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. There will be a memorial visitation at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the second floor community room at Hillsdale Place. Private family interment will take place at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Wilma Ruth Bordner, age 91 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 20, 2009, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. She was born March 29, 1918, in St. Joseph County, Mich., a daughter to the late Frederick George and Cora Velle (Foust) Cook. Wilma had resided in Sturgis for the past 21 years. Most of her life was lived in the Mendon and Parkville, Mich. area. She was first married to Joseph Garman, he died in 1985. On April 23, 1988, she married Earl Bordner in Mendon. For more than 20 years she had been employed as a secretary for the St. Joseph County Grange Fair Association. In her early life she had worked for Sears Roebuck Company. Mrs. Bordner was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church and for over seven decades she was a member of the Grange organization, both in Mendon and Burr Oak. She volunteered her time with the Sturgis Hospital Gift Shop Guild and knitted many hats and blankets for the OB department of the hospital. For many years she served as a 4-H leader and she enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband; children, Thomas (Kola) Garman of Sturgis, Bruce (Beth) Bordner of Ortonville, Benjamin Bordner of Sturgis, Michael (Tonya) Bordner of Sturgis, Laura (John) Klinger of Sturgis, Monte (Robin) Bordner of Sturgis and Jean Bordner of Florida; 12 grandchildren, including Tom’s daughters, Taya and Maria; 16 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Linda Bowerman of Vicksburg; and a dear friend, Mary Ann Smith of Sturgis. Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband; a son, Gordon Garman; and grandsons Marcus Mead and Michael Mead. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Wilma Ruth Bordner will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church in Burr Oak. The Rev. Robert Graham will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Private burial of the ashes will take place at the Mendon Cemetery in Mendon. The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Bordner’s memory consider the Burr Oak United Methodist Church, 206 W.
