Barbara E. Monroe, 75, of White Pigeon, Mich., passed away Friday evening, Oct. 30, 2009, at Sturgis Hospital. She was born June 23, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter to the late Charles and Alberta (Taschner) Garton. Barbara had resided in White Pigeon for the past 10 years. Prior to that she lived in Sturgis and her early life was lived in Philadelphia, where she graduated from German Town High School and continued her education in X-Ray Technology at Temple University. In 1994, she retired from Sturgis Hospital following 35 years of dedicated employment as an E-Ray Technician. Barbara also worked in Dr. Olin L. Lepard’s office in Sturgis and received her training and began her career at the German Town Hospital. On Oct. 15, 1955, she married Charles Monroe in Philadelphia. Barbara was an active member of the Three Rivers Bible Church in Three Rivers and enjoyed word games, especially Scrabble. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Charles; one daughter, Jan (David) Adamson of Sturgis; two sons, Mark (Patricia) Monroe of LaGrange, Ind., and Tim (Kris) Monroe of Manitou Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Scott Adamson, Rachel Brittin, Kirsten Schipper, Summer Adamson, Candice Adamson, Shelemiah Blood, Joshua Monroe, Bethel Monroe, Rebecca Monroe, Anna Monroe, Sarah Monroe and Ben Monroe; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters,  Patricia Hale of Tulsa, Okla. and Norma Bucia of Brigantine, NJ; one brother, David (Dorothy) Garton of East Greenville, Pa.; and one niece and several nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, (269) 651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara E. Monroe will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Bailey of the Three Rivers Bible Church will officiate. For many years Barb taught at St. Monica’s Catholic Schools in Kalamazoo. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Stephen; three children: Greg (Missy) Miller of Vicksburg, Michele Johnson of Vicksburg and Angie Dewey of Georgia; six grandchildren, Kayla, Kendall, Summer, Autumn, Nathan and Nolan. She is also survived by her sister and brothers-in-law, Patty Miller of Colorado, Dave (Sherry) Miller of Indiana and Tim (Troya) Miller of Constantine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Marion Thompson; and a sister, Lynne Shafer. Duane Mercer, of Jerome passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. He was born March 6, 1921, in North Adams the son of Glen and Julia (Trumble) Mercer.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine (Pickford) Mercer whom he married on Dec. 24, 1943; his parents; one infant son and one brother, William Mercer. He is survived by three children, William (Katherine) Mercer of Albuquerque, N.M., Bonny (Ray “Tex”) Hawkins of Jonesville, and Nancy (Mark) Wilcox of Havelock, N.C.; nine grandchildren, William (Reneé) Mercer, Brenda Mercer, Brock (Robyn) Mercer, Kim (Rob) Moreland, Kelly (fiance Jim Smith) Elliott, Kristin (Scott) Deck, Ernestine (Jeff) Jones, Trudy Wilcox and Rebecca Wilcox; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Mercer was a lifelong resident of the Hillsdale County area and he lived in the oldest Sesqui-Centennial farm in the county of Hillsdale. He graduated from Addison High School and enjoyed working as a farmer for many years. He retired as a plumber after working for more than 30 years and he was a member of Local 333 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters. He also attended the Jerome United Methodist Church. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Duane Mercer will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in North Adams at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place in the Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in North Adams. Dolores Krymis, 91, former Quincy resident, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Kalamazoo.   She was born May 18, 1918 in Puebla, Mexico, the daughter of Ramon and Piedad (Cadena) Marza. Prior to marriage, Mrs. Krymis worked as a secretary for the Governments of the State of Puebla and the Federal Government of Mexico. On Dec. 29, 1940, she married August Andre Krymis and he preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2002.   Survivors include three daughters, Deena (Dr. Harold) Rood, Auburn, Kan.; Karen (Fred) Smiga, Trumbull, Conn.; Milena Hawkins, St. Peters, Mo.; three sons, Dr. August A. (Nancy) Krymis, Jr., Kalamazoo; Fred J. (Candace) Krymis, Kalamazoo; Roy D. Krymis, Euless Texas; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the George White Funeral Home, Quincy, with Father Dan Doctor officiating. Henry Marvin Ramsby, 83, Cheboygan, passed to the Lord peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009. He was born in Detroit on Sept. 22, 1926 the son of Lawrence and Leanna (Gentes) Ramsby. Upon graduation from Wolverine High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army-Air Corps and served during World War II as a fighter pilot. He enjoyed flying personal aircraft the remainder of his life. Henry was the C.E.O. and owner of Ramsby Well Drilling in Cheboygan for many years and served on the State of Michigan Well Drillers Board. He was a well respected and successful businessman with a humble, good humored and charitable nature. He enjoyed the Great Lakes and forests and was an avid fisherman and camper. He also enjoyed animals and his dogs Spike and Jack were his outdoor companions. Survivors include his beloved wife and soulmate Mary Kelley Ramsby of Cheboygan; his children, Mary (Joe) Barber of Milford, Cynthia (Charles) Jett of Cheboygan, William Kelley of Cheboygan, Henry S. (Lonna) Ramsby of Traverse City, Michael (Patti) Ramsby of Cheboygan, Timothy Ramsby of Cheboygan and Kristi (Steve) Thomas of Chelsea;  several grandchildren; and great grandchildren. He will be especially missed by his “Poppa Henry” buddies, Alex and Chloe Jett and Achilles and Antasha Barber. Visitation is today from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Christian Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home. Iva M. Merrifield, 88, of LaGrange, Ind., died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at her residence. In 1938, Mrs. Merrifield moved from Minot, N.D., to LaGrange, and was a homemaker and a seamstress.  She was a member at the LaGrange Missionary Church in LaGrange where she was very active.  She was also a member of the Plato Home Economics Club,  Sharing Doll Club, and Mentor Moms and had been a Child Evangelism teacher. Mrs. Merrifield was born on Feb. 12, 1921, in Kenmare, N.D., to William R. and Elma (Harris) Kauffman.  On May 31, 1942, in Howe, Ind.,  she married Howard E. Merrifield. He preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1982. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Billy Merrifield; five sons-in-law; four grandchildren; two sisters; and four brothers. J. Harry Eberhard, age 63, of Colon, passed away, Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at his home. Harry was born July 4, 1946, in Sturgis, a son of David and Martha (Troyer) Eberhard. Harry had served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He had lived most all of his life in St. Joseph County. Harry had worked for 28 years at the Twin County Probation Center in Three Rivers, where he retired in 2006 as executive director. His great passion in life was his family and motorcycling. He is survived by seven children, Michell (Josh) Hubbard of Traverse City, Mike (Kim) Woods of Commerce Township, Cherish (Vern) Buel of Houston, Jamie (Ray) Schmucker of Syracuse, Ind., Marina (Tim) Borkholder and daughter Abigail of Colon, Stephen Woods of Traverse City and Salina (Barry) Kapik of Atlanta; 30 grand and great-grandchildren; mother Martha Horowitz of Florida, three brothers, Ernie Eberhard of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Wayne and Leland Eberhard both of Holt; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, David Eberhard; a sister, Edna (Dolly) Rohrer; and an aunt Susie Wickey. The family will receive relatives and friends after noon Sunday at the Double M Building, 59321 Nottawa Road, Centreville, one mile north of Nottawa. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Double M Building with Pastor Thomas Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Order Amish Cemetery in rural Centreville. Jerry Russell, 65, of Jonesville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.  He was born March 2, 1944, in Jackson, the son of Claude and Barbara (Brawner) Russell, and raised by his grandparents Ima and Blaine Storer. He graduated from Jonesville High School.  Jerry was Supt. of Public Works for the village of Jonesville for 39 years.  He loved working with the residents of Jonesville and took pride in his job of making the village a nice looking community.  He was a former Jonesville fireman for 20 years.  Jerry was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors, along with his love of his 1969 Mustang. Survivors include his wife, Monica (Crouse) Russell; four daughters: Jamie (John) Bonham, Tracy (John) Gearhart, Amy (David) Henkel, and Stephanie Russell; grandchildren:  Danielle, Ashley, Tyler, Torrey, Dustin, Clay, Jordan, RJ, Justice, Gavin and Devin; step-grand children: Megan and Taylor; great-grand children:  Raylee, Lita, Hadrian and Ginger. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Leah E. Moore, 92, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2009, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. She was born Dec. 7, 1916, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, a daughter to the late Raymond Bishop and Minnie (McCullough) Morey. Mrs. Moore had resided in Sturgis since 1974 coming from California. Prior to that she lived in Columbus, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Moore enjoyed crafts and crossword puzzles. She is survived by a son, Robert (Kim) Moore of Bronson; eight grandchildren, Robert Moore, Tonya Dentler, Alissa Moore, Laresa Ashbrook, Troy Moore, Tyler Crew, Travis Crew and Jennifer Crew; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a brother, Corwin Morey of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a very good friend, Gordon Moore; two sisters, Sara Morey and Eleanor Ralston; and a brother, Bobby Keith Morey. Leslie “Les” Freeman Moose, of Osseo, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Hillsdale County. He was born Aug. 13, 1931, in Napoleon, Ohio, to Freeman and Lavina Moose. Les graduated from DeVilbis High School in Toledo, Ohio with the class of 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark and brother, Burt. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Dorothy (Lauman) Moose; three daughters, Kelly Plonka, Marie Cox and Linda Morris; one stepdaughter, Lin (Ray) Lyons; two stepsons, Gary (Nancy) Lauman and Larry (Christine) Lauman; three sisters, Beverly (Jim) Brown, Karen (Bob) Cordrey, Evon (Kenny) Rufenacht; one sister-in-law, Sue Moose; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; grandson, Jared Rose; and nieces and nephews. Les retired after managing a private estate in Perrysburg for 38 years. He served 10 years on the Sylvania Township Fire Department # 2. He was a Boy Scout leader for 18 years. After retiring he served five years on the Pittsford and Jefferson Township Fire Boards in Michigan. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Pittsford and a member of the Pittsford Lions Club for many years. His greatest joy was going to Beaumont, Texas to fish for the “Big Ones” with his son-in-law, Ray Lyons and grandsons, Justin and Damian Deaz. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Leslie “Les” Freeman Moose will be held at the First Congregational Church of Pittsford (4340 S. Lyle A. Wilcox, 92, lifelong Quincy resident and former township clerk, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 at Sandy’s AFC Home in Allen. Mr. Wilcox was born in Quincy on April 10, 1917 to Louis and Gula (Hurley) Wilcox. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1935 and immediately went into the family wholesale poultry and egg business with his father and brother. He eventually purchased the business from his father and brother and then sold it in 1956.  In 1939, he married Arlene DePew of Reading. They moved to their home in Quincy in 1943, where he has since resided. At the time of her death in 1995, they had been married 56 years. After selling the poultry and egg business, Lyle and Arlene went to work for the Federal Mogul Corporation in Coldwater for whom he worked 23 years, retiring in 1978. The last three years of his employment were spent with the company in Detroit, where he and his wife lived during the week and drove back to Quincy on weekends.  For 36 years, Mr. Wilcox was the Quincy Township Clerk, retiring from the position in 1991. He also served as a volunteer fireman in Quincy for 30 years and has been a member of the Quincy American Legion Post #157 and Masonic Lodge. He served with the US Navy during WWII and was stationed in Portland, Ore.  Survivors include son Neil (Phyllis) Wilcox, DVM, MPH of Gaithersburg, Md., grandchildren Ryan (Katie) Wilcox of Ypsilanti, Sara (Greg) Tavares of Charleston, S.C., Molly (Mark) Macek of Towson, Md., Tony (Julie) Wilcox of South Bend, Ind. and Tracey (John) Snyder of Osceola, Ind. and great-grandchildren Ashleigh, Haley and Kyle Snyder of Osceola, Ind., Michael Macek of Towson, Md. and Ethan Wilcox of South Bend, Ind.  In addition to his wife Arlene, he was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law Larry and Jeannette (Schaeffer) Wilcox, brother Leslie Wilcox and sister Maxine Kunkler.  Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at the George White Funeral Home in Quincy with Pastor Scott Arnold officiating. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery will follow. Margery C. Schaeffer, 89, of Howe, Ind., died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Life Care Center of LaGrange in LaGrange, Ind. Living in Howe, since 1948, Mrs. Schaeffer moved there from Sturgis, where she lived from 1932 until 1948.  Mrs. Schaeffer was a registered nurse working for Sturgis Hospital in Sturgis and LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange, and also was a dental assistant for Dr. Clare Wiedlea in Sturgis.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaGrange, where she was very active and was a member in Altar and Rosary Sodality and a past member of the Parrish Council and in her early years she was a lecture and religion instructor.  She was also a former Democratic Precinct Committeeman for Lima Township, held offices in the Democrat Women’s Club, and was a member of the Borgess Hospital Alumni and the National Nurses Association. Mrs. Schaeffer was born on Sept. 28, 1920, in London, Ontario, Canada to Thomas and Elizabeth (Ennett) Burns.  On Aug. 17, 1948, in Sturgis,  she married William C. Schaeffer. He preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2001. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances E. and Richard Hostetler in Churubusco, Ind., and Joan M. and Fenner E. Ambrose of Springdale, Ariz; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom C. and Maria Schaeffer of Isle of Palms, S.C.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a son, William Burns Schaeffer on March 31, 2005. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaGrange with Father Mark Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Howe. Mary Agnes Baker, age 94 years, of Hudson passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Tender-care of Adrian. Mary was born on July 25, 1915, in Hudson, the daughter of George and Mabel (Gatrel) Wollet. She was a lifelong resident of Hudson. She married L.C. Baker Sr. on July 8, 1933, in Angola, Ind. L.C. preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1984. Mary worked at M&S Manufacturing in Hudson for over 44 years, retiring in 1979. She was an active member of the Hudson Wesleyan Church, the Women’s Club and the Missionary Society. She was an avid volunteer, loved gardening and baking pies, going out to eat, traveling and just going for rides in the car. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was a loving person who will be dearly missed by all, especially those who called her “Grandma.” Mary is survived by two children, Susanne Stanley of Hudson and Gerald (Ann) Baker of Addison; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Leon (Georgia) Wollet of Pittsford and Ronald (Mary) Wollet of Edgewater, Fla.; one sister, Nancy Blunt of Valdosta, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Marge Wollet of Jackson and Patricia Wollet of Hudson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, L.C. Baker Jr., a great-granddaughter, five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services for Mary will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the Hudson Wesleyan Church with Pastor Mark Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson. Memorials are suggested to the Hudson Senior Center. Mary M. Rapin Mary M. Rapin, 95, of Mondovi, Wis. passed away Friday, October 30, 2009, at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi,Wis. She was born on November 26, 1913, in Washburn, Wis. to Louis and Magdalene (Zemba) Malinoski. Mary was a graduate of Washburn High School and the St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Superior,Wis. On November 10, 1956, she married John Bernard Rapin in Detroit. She was employed at Harper Hospital as a charge nurse and at Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals as an industrial nurse. After Mary retired from Parke-Davis she and her husband enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives. Later in her life, after her husband's death, she especially enjoyed taking care of her home, listening to music and watching musicals on TV. Mary cared deeply about her family. She lived in the Mondovi area for the past seven years. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Mondovi. She is survived by three sisters in law, Dorothy (Bill) Hintz of Newhall, Calif., Eleanor Malinoski of Rogers, Minn. and Mavis Malinoski of Alma, Wis. and nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters and four brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi, Wis. with Fr. David Rybicki officiating. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Washburn, Wis. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Raymond L. Liebzeit Raymond L. Liebzeit, age 92, of Fraser, formerly of Sterling Heights, passed away, Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Fraser Villa. On November 24, 1945, he married the late Ione J. Smith. Mrs. Liebzeit passed away July 22, 1964. On September 3, 1965 he married the late Marrean Miller. Mrs. Liebzeit passed away April 27, 1997. Mr. Liebzeit retired as an engineer from Chrysler Space Division. He also served in the U. S. Army during WWII. Robert E. Downer, 72, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Quincy, Mich., passed away Oct. 16, 2009, in Bradenton, Fla, at his winter home.  Robert was born Sept. 23, 1937, to Wallace and Gladys (Marquart) Downer in Hillsdale.  Both parents preceded him in death.  He graduated from Quincy High School in 1955 and married Jennie Lee Gerber on May 19, 1956.  He also attended the Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music from 1959-1962.  After graduation, he became director of Camp Selah Christian Camp, Reading, for 15 years with his wife, Jennie.  He was an active member of East Algansee Baptist Church and currently Calvary Baptist Church, Quincy.  During the winter months, he attended Fellowship Baptist in Bradenton.  He worked the majority of his life as co-owner with his father at W.E. Downer and Son Well Drilling and loved his work and all the people he met during those years. Bob and Jennie loved to travel in the U.S. and to many other countries.  They also loved fishing off their boat in Florida during the winter months. Survivors include his wife, Jennie Lee (Gerber) Downer; one son, Mark Downer, Mooresville, N.C.; one daughter, Karen (Downer) Parman, of Fayetteville, Ga.  Also surviving are two sisters, Nancy (Downer) Strang of Quincy  and Carol (Downer) Turner of Edwardsburg; five grandchildren, Kortney Parman of Atlanta, Ga., Brock Parman of Nashville, Tenn., and Mickel, Taylor and Daylee Parman of Fayetteville, Ga. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Quincy Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Snyder officiating. Roland P. George, 96, of Bronson died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 from 1-3 p.m. at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson. Interment will follow at Frye Cemetery in Noble Township. No other services will be held.  Roland was born Dec. 12, 1912 in Bronson to Otis and Nellie (Chesley) George. He married Hope Van Wagner on June 20, 1936. She preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 1998.  Roland was a lifelong resident of Bronson, most recently of Gilead Lake. He worked at Douglas Autotech for many years, retiring in 1978. Roland enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and cutting wood. Ronald Andrew “Ron” Leo Sr., age 65, of Three Rivers, died Saturday Oct. 31, 2009, at his home.  He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Oct. 5, 1944, and attended schools in the Pittsburg area.  Ron was married to Patricia Wightman on June 8, 1966 in Winchester, Pa.  They moved to the Mendon area in 1966 where Ron worked for Research Molding. He has been employed by Crocker Limited, now known as Camoplast for the past 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially golf. She was married March 11, 1972 to John Rowe, he preceded her in death in 2003. Rose was affiliated with Riggs Beauty Studio for over forty years. She was a graduate of Ayersville High School in Ohio and Riggs Beauty School. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Star Group at St. Paul’s and the St. Paul’s Guild. She was a member of the Wednesday morning quilting group at the College Baptist Church. Rose enjoyed spending time with her family and she was an avid gardener. Shirley J. (Joy) Wagner age 77 of Colon passed away, Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at the Battle Creek Health System. Shirley was born June 2, 1932, in Matteson Township, a daughter to the late Winfield and Ifa Jean (Knox) Weinberg. On Nov. 24, 1948, she married R. John Wagner in Coldwater. Shirley had lived most all of her life in Colon and at her present address for more than 60 years.  She had worked for the former Lamb Knit Co. and had retired from the Colmer Co. after many years of service. Shirley loved to fish, mushroom hunt, quilting, oil painting and was a collector of Garfield. She is survived by her husband, John Wagner, of Colon; four children, Dixie (Charles) Miller of Hastings, Raymond J. (Brenda)  Wagner Jr. of Colon, Steven H. (Judy) Wagner of Bronson and Allen K. Wagner of Pittsburg, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. Saturday at the Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. A memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley J. (Joy) Wagner will then take place at 1 p.m., with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Private burial of cremains will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.  If desired, the family suggests memorials by made in memory of Shirley to either the Colon Booster Club or the Colon American Legion Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. |

Sister Marie Houle, formerly known as Sister Phyllis Ann Houle, died on Oct. 31, 2009, at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Mich. She was 77 years of age and in the 59th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation. Sister Marie was born in Grosse Pointe, Mich., to Oswald and Catherine (Bretz) Houle. Sister graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit, Mich., and received a Bachelor of Music Degree from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, Mich., and a Master of Musical Education Degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. Sister spent 19 1/2 years ministering in education as a music teacher in St. Clair, Detroit, Adrian and Hudson, Mich.; Pensacola and Jacksonville, Fla.; Des Moines, Iowa; Chicago and Loves Park, Ill. She spent 30 years as a Coordinator of Religious Education in St. Clair Shores, Fenton and Monroe, Mich., and four years as Director of Faith Formation in Sterling Heights, Mich. She was Associate Director for the Diocese of New Ulrn, Minn., for one year. Sister was a resident of Warren, Mich. Sister Marie is survived by two brothers, Thomas Houle of Roseville, Mich., and James Houle of Myerstown, Pa., and a sister, Phyllis Gartner of Port Huron, Mich. Visitation is from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, in the Adrian Room of Madden Hall, followed by Vigil Prayer at 7 p.m. in Holy Rosary Chapel. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered in Holy Rosary Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009. Burial will be in the Congregation cemetery. Terrance Lee Glassnor Terrance Lee "Terry" Glassnor, age 29, of Harrison Township, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2009. Mr. Glassnor was born October 5, 1980 in Mt. Clemens. He was employed at One Plus Boats, a division of Velger's Marina in Harrison Township, in marine maintenance. He is survived by his wife, Christine; parents, Donald and Lori (nee Benedict) Glassnor; children, Samantha (Jonathan Morden) Logie, Aaron Beauvais, Savannah Logie, Gage and Zoe Glassnor; brother, Brian; sister, April; granddaughter, Addison; and nephew, Deshawn. Thomas J. Morgan, 62, of Camden, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Toledo Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. He was born March 20, 1947, in Edon, Ohio, to Estel L. and Betty L. (Thorp) Morgan. He attended Camden-Frontier schools. He married Rita A. Altaffer in Montpelier, Ohio, Dec. 6, 1986, and she survives. Thomas retired from Aro Corp in Bryan, Ohio in 2006 after 40 years of employment in the carpenter and maintenance departments. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. Also surviving are four daughters, Tami (Rob) Paulsen, Southgate, Traci Szegedi, Northwood, Ohio, Christina Morgan and Amanda (Dalton) Brown, both of Camden; five sons, Larry Jones Jr., Montpelier, Tommy Jones, Marion, Ohio, John Morgan (fiancé Nikki Collins), Orland, Ind., James Morgan, Montpelier and Robert (Stacy) Morgan, Osseo; four sisters, Pat (Dan) Pearson, Linda (Ed) Terris, Sandra (Dave) Grunden, and Laurie (Roger) Montgomery, all of Camden; one brother, Bill Morgan, Mio, Mich.; 24 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were his parents and two brothers-in-law, Stephen and Greg Altaffer. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier. W. Stewart “Stew” Niblack, Jr. age 79, of Hillsdale, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at his home. Stew was formerly of Britton and spent his winters in Haines City, Fla. He was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Hillsdale to William S. and Marjorie A. (Miner) Niblack, Sr. He graduated from Britton High School. Stew attended Hillsdale College, Wayne State School of Mortuary Science and graduated from Eastern Michigan University. On June 22, 1968, he married Cassie D. Williams. She preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 2000. Stew served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 – 1954, during the Korean War. Stew has worked for funeral homes in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek until becoming the owner and operator of the Niblack Home for Funerals in Britton form 1963 – 1975. He then worked for United Bank and Trust as Branch Office Manager in Britton until his retirement in 1992. Stew had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Britton, the Tecumseh Masons Lodge 69 and the Glen H. Daykin American Legion Post 155 in Britton. He loved to fish. Stew is survived by three sons, W. Scott Niblack and his wife, Kim of Fowlerville, Mich., W. Shawn Niblack and his wife, Carol of St. Charles, Mo. and William S. Niblack III and his wife, Natalie of Tecumseh; two daughters, Denise McCormack and her husband, Jimroy of Holland, and Wendee (Saige) Richardson and her husband, T.J. of Dimondale, Mich.; two sisters, Marcella Lidster and her husband, Raymond of Britton and Penny Becker of Lenoir City, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Cassie, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patricia Beach and a grandson, Justice William Richardson. Funeral services for Stew will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Britton with the Rev. Amy Mayo-Moyle officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. William Robert Sowle, 85, of Jonesville, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at home. He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Amboy Township, to Harry and Alla Elsie (Farver) Sowle. He was first married in 1945 to Clara Long and she preceded him in death in 1991. He was married Oct. 17, 1999, to Eva Mae Westfall Lockwood; she preceded him in death July 20, 2009. Robert was retired from Wells Equipment and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany. Robert is survived by two step children, Judy Ann (Charles) Alspaugh of Reading and William Earl (Sharon) Lockwood of Nashua, N. H.; a sister, Chloey Foust of Litchfield; five step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Eva Mae, he was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Clara; three sisters, Elsie, Zelma and Mildred and three brothers, Kincle, Arthur Kelly and Harold Irving. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow at the Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams.
