Hudsonville to host sneak peek of 12 new flavors Thursday, March 11, 2010 5:30 AM - Staff reports |
Hudsonville ice cream fans will have a rare sneak peek at the company’s new 2010 flavors and help fight childhood hunger at the same time. The ice cream maker at 345 E. 48th St. in Holland will open its doors March 27 to 500 ice cream lovers for tastes of 12 new flavors.  Proceeds from the $10 per person admission will benefit Kids’ Food Basket, a Grand Rapids-based hunger relief organization helps gives evening meals to children. The event will be the only time the new flavors will be available before their April delivery to area stores, company officials said. “Each year, the West Michigan community really looks forward to the debut of our new ice cream flavors,” said Bruce Kratt, chief marketing officer.  “For our 2010 unveiling, we decided to pull out all the stops, open our factory doors and invite 500 of our biggest fans.” “We are both organizations focused on children, so this event is a great fit,” said Bridget Clark Whitney, executive director of Kids’ Food Basket, expressing appreciation to  Hudsonville Ice Cream. The event will include entertainment and other Made in Michigan foods, as well as a chance to meet ice cream makers and a local dairy farmer who supplies Hudsonville. During the event, new flavors will be unveiled every eight minutes, with guests able to sample 3-ounce portions of each. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and the event runs 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets will be limited to 500 and are available at www.hudsonvilleicecream.com. |
