JOLLS SOPHIE STELLA STACHOWICZ

Affectionately known as Sonia to her family and close friends, passed quietly on 7 December, 2008 at the age of 86. A memorial celebration for both Bob and Sonia will be held sometime in the new year. Sonia was born in Dearborn, Michigan to Polish immigrant parents and was the fourth of five children. She went to work at age 12 after the death of her father, and finished the 10th grade. Sonia worked for the American Ordinance company during WWII, then Cunningham-Limp, and later for the Detroit College of Law, from which she retired as their financial aid officer. Sonia married Robert (Bob) Kingdon Jolls on 26 December, 1950. Married for 58 years, he preceded her in death by one week. Sonia and Bob raised one daughter, Claudia, to whom they imparted their love for life and their sense of humor. Claudia and her husband, Karl Faser, Jr, live and work in Greenville, North Carolina. They treasure the years that they were able to be together with Sonia and Bob as a family in Greenville. Sonia is remembered as a vibrant spirit who fiercely loved life. She was active in school and church, served as a Girl Scout leader, and enjoyed her bowling and sewing. Sonia rejoiced in many things, but particularly her family, friends, home, animals, and laughter.
