Hiranush was a proud Armenian, a proud American citizen, a proud military wife, proud mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She valued the opportunities of education for her family even though she herself was illiterate. Hiranush faced life when Armenians were still struggling with the devastation of the genocide and came to the United States for the freedom and opportunities it would provide for her family. She survived diversity, love, marriage and children with faith and prayer. Her happiest moments were traveling in Europe and seeing her family college educated, successful and established. In her heart, she has always held the loving memories of Istanbul, Turkey, and will now dance to the Turkish music of eternal life. She will be lovingly and sadly missed by her daughters, Ruth Brown of Hillsdale and Marguerite (Roger) Moerdyke of Lowell; grandchildren Jerry (Jayme) Moerdyke, Philip (Erin) Moerdyke, Jaclyn Moerdyke; and great-grandson, Owen Charles Moerdyke. Funeral services for Hiranush Brown will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Van Horn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with the Rev. Father Daron Stepanian officiating the Armenian mass. The family will receive friends for visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment at Wauseon Union Cemetery, Wauseon, Ohio.
