Bertha  H. Monroe, age 92, of Sturgis, passed away late Saturday evening, Jan. 30, 2010, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. She was born May 15, 1917, in Jonesville, Mich., a daughter to the late William H. and Daisy (Kint) Monroe. Bertha had resided in the Sturgis and Coldwater area most of her life. She had worked at Arch Workshop in Sturgis and attended the Sturgis Church of Christ. Bertha is survived by two nieces, Mary Ulrey of Centreville, Va., and Sue Galassi of Mishawaka, Ind.; two great-nieces, Karen Schubert of Mishawaka, Ind., and Elaine Clinard of Houston, Texas; and one great-nephew, Tony Galassi She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Frances Rosine and Martha Ulrey; one niece, Margaret Shores; and one nephew, Denny Rosine. The family will receive friends from Noon-1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091 where funeral services celebrating the life of Bertha Monroe will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. George Cleverley of the Sturgis Church of Christ will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Miss Monroe’s memory consider the Sturgis Church of Christ, 900 N. Beverly June Dunlap, age 83, of Nottawa, Mich., passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich. She was born Nov. 4, 1926, in White Pigeon, Mich., a daughter to the late Lester and Hazel (Snyder) Raifsnider. Beverly has been a resident of Nottawa for over 35 years and on June 30, 1962, in Centreville, she married Edward Dunlap. She had been employed by the Paramount Furniture Company in Sturgis for a short time and retired from Freeman Mfg. Company in Sturgis where she had been employed most of her working life.  She was a member of the Sturgis Church of Christ, she loved the Lord, and was active in the J.O.Y. Club at the church.  She also enjoyed knitting, traveling with friends to the U.P., taking care of her cats, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Ed; one son, Richard (Shirley) Metzger of Constantine, Mich.; two daughters, Kathy (Phil) Winklepleck of Sturgis and Sheila (Ed) Vanek of Ishpeming, Mich.; three step-children, Gary (Janell) Dunlap of Sturgis, Debbie Dunlap and Patti Dunlap, both of LaGrange, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Mary) Raifsnider of White Pigeon. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends and relatives from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hackman Family Funeral Home - Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.  Services celebrating the life of Beverly Dunlap will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home with The Rev. George Cleverley, Sturgis Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Cemetery, White Pigeon.  In Lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donation in memory of Beverly be directed to the Sturgis Church of Christ, 901 N. Edith Marie Stone, age 85, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Sturgis Hospital Emergency Room.  She was born July 26, 1924, in Goshen, Ind.,  a daughter to the late Willard L. and Elizabeth (Schriener) Brown.  Edith had been a resident of Sturgis most of her life and had been employed by the Sturgis Credit Bureau for three years, the Gateway Shopper, and as office manager for Direct Lumber, Inc. in Burr Oak, for 21 years, retiring in 1980. On Feb. 5, 1944, she married Robert W. Chapla.  While serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II he was M.I.A. on June 26, 1945 and was declared deceased one year later. On Dec. 30, 1948, in Bristol, Ind., she married Wendell O. Stone.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2004. Edith was baptized in Burr Oak in the United Methodist Faith and was active with her high school graduating class of 1941.  She was also an active member of the Sturgis Women’s Club, enjoyed creative writing, crafts, casino gambling, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was an avid arm chair Michigan sports fan.   Surviving are one daughter, Vivian (Terry) VanNest of Sturgis; three sons, Richard Stone and family friend, Bob Lederman of Sturgis, John E. Stone of Sturgis, and Thomas P. Stone of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and one brother, Willard L. Brown. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial service celebrating the life of Edith M. Stone will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Hackman Family Funeral Home - Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091 with the Rev. Deb Johnson, First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak, MI.  Memorial donations in her memory may be directed to the Sturgis Women’s Club, 1001 Walker Ave., Sturgis, MI 49091. Florentine G. “Toots” Czajkowski, 92, of Chelsea, formerly of Bronson, died Jan. 29, 2010, at the Chelsea Retirement Community.  Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bronson. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. today at the Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with the Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.  Florentine was born on April 29, 1917, to George and Clara (Yesh) Kelley in Bronson. She attended Bronson High School. She married Frank Czajkowski on Sept. 28, 1940, at St. Mary of Assumption in Bronson. He preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1997. She was primarily a homemaker but did work outside of the home. She had worked for the Douglas factory for seven years and then in 1957 she and her husband built the White Swan Motel in Bronson. They operated the motel until 1972.  Florentine was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Church, the Rosary Society and the Lady Knights of Columbus.  She and her husband worked at the K of C fish fry together and enjoyed attending their dance club. She also enjoyed flowers, cooking and baking, playing cards, sewing and fishing. Florentine especially loved spending time with her family.  She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Mike) Darr of Dexter; her son, Francis (Judy) Czajkowski of Roseville; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Karen) Kelley of Ontonagon; and a sister-in-law, Gwen Kelley.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Susan Hewlett in 2001; and two brothers, Alvin Kelley and Gerald Kelley.  Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary of Assumption Church or School. Gertrude Jane “Trudy”Dury, age 77, of Sturgis, Mich.,  passed away early Sunday morning, Jan. 31, 2010, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis following a five-month illness. She was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Detroit, Mich., a daughter to the late Charles and Lucille (Baer) Richards. Trudy had resided in Sturgis since 1953. Her early life was spent in Montpelier, Ohio and she had also lived briefly in San Antonio, Texas and Fort Wayne, Ind. On Feb. 11, 1951, she married William Dury in Bryan, Ohio. She and her husband founded, owned and operated Dury Oil Company in Sturgis and she was a dedicated wife and mother. She received her associate degree from the International Business School in Fort Wayne, Ind., where she graduated number one in her class. She was a past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and was involved in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Trudy was always actively involved in her children’s lives. She was a Girl Scout leader and for many years she was a ballet assistant. She enjoyed singing, photography, arts and crafts including jewelry making and rock collecting. In the more recent years advanced stages of Multiple Sclerosis limited her involvement in community functions. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 58 years, William “Bill” Dury; two daughters, Kendra (Troy) King of Leonidas and Kim (Vince) Little of Sturgis; one son, Kyle (Christina) Dury of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren, McLaine Dury, Shelby Dury, Nathaniel Dury, Natasha Bowman, Cameron Bowman, Craig Bowman, Nick King, Katie King, Grant Little and Blake Little; and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Jo Ann Nelson, age 70, of Peyton, Colo., and formerly of Bronson, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at Pikes Peek Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colo., after three and a half years of battling ovarian cancer.  Jo Ann was born July 13, 1939, in Ontario, Ind.,  a daughter to the late Floyd (Tony) and Ilene (Parish) Nelson.  Jo Ann had lived her early years in Bronson, graduating from Bronson High School with the Class of 1957.  She then attended the Fort Wayne Business College.  She had been employed at American Hoist & Derrick Co. of Fort Wayne, Ind., Superior Match Co. of Joliet, Ill., Remington Arms, National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., Stanford University of Palo Alto, Calif., Pillar Point Fishing Trips in Half Moon Bay, Calif. She then opened Gerald Parish Antiques in Half Moon Bay, Calif., and later worked for Boomtown Casino in Verdi, Nev.  Jo Ann was very interested in the American Indians and there artifacts, she liked antiques and treasure hunting, enjoyed being outdoors along the ocean and mountains and loved her dogs.  She is survived by one sister, Carol (Tom) Lundorff of Reno, Nev.; one brother, Jerry L. Nelson of Bronson; special friend and care giver, Mary Perez of Peyton, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon.  Funeral services celebrating the life of Jo Ann Nelson will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Rev. John Bertrand Collins, age 80 of Leonidas, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at his home following a long illness.  He was born in Sherwood Township on Dec. 23, 1929, the son of Russell and Ruth Ann (Homan) Collins.  John attended country schools and worked at his father’s grocery in Scotts while growing up.  He later engaged in general farming and was a truck driver delivering livestock for Outman Farms in Leonidas.  John established his own backhoe and trenching business, and at various times served as the cemetery sexton for seven townships, including Leonidas, Wakeshma, and Athens.  He was an active member of the Factoryville Bible Church where he served on the church board and was a Sunday school teacher and usher.  Winters would find John plowing snow for family, neighbors, and shut-ins.  He was a collector of Ageless Iron tractor cards. John was married to Arlene Outman in Leonidas on Aug. 18, 1956.  She survives along with five children, Beth Bennett (Rev. Curtis) of Mendon, John Samuel Collins of Leonidas, Ronald Collins (Lisa) of Athens, Carolyn Collins of Leonidas, and Sue Eakins (Donnie) of Kentwood;  21 grandchildren;  five great grandchildren;  three sisters, Mary Ann Lander (Tim) of Richland, Dorothy Handy of Battle Creek, and Shirley Aspinall (Cliff) of Gales Ferry, CT;  a sister-in-law, Colleen Habermahl (Tim) of Lennon;  several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Richard Inman.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Louise Wheeler-Collins; and by two brothers, David and Stephen Collins. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, and from noon- 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Factoryville Bible Church, 1291 Factoryville Rd., Athens, MI 49011.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Fred Goebert, Rev. Merritt Johnson, and Rev. Kevin is survived by a brother, Keith Miller of Sturgis; two sisters, Kathy (Chris) Strang of Sturgis and Kim Miller of Constantine and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 11-11:45 a.m. Monday at Sturgis Wesleyan Church, where memorial services will begin at noon Monday. Mardine Towne, 83, of Baldwin Street, Morenci, passed away Friday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2010, at Provincial House in Adrian under the watchful care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 27, 1926, to Lysle and Alta (Brehm) Sutton. On Oct. 11, 1944, Mardine married Robert Towne in Fayette. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing on Aug. 23, 2002. Mardine graduated from the Gorham Fayette High School Class of 1944. She devoted her time to being a homemaker and mother. She served over 20 years as a part-time employee of the Postal Service in Fayette and also volunteered as a librarian at the Fayette Normal Memorial Library. She was a member of the Fayette United Methodist Church and the Northwest Ohio Mother of Twins Club. Mardine enjoyed reading, traveling and attending the sporting events and school activities that involved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two of her greatest pleasures were the yearly gatherings of the Brehm family and of the Class of 1944. Mardine is survived by four sons, Ronald (Jerolyn) Towne of Addison, Richard Towne of Canton, Mich., Roger (Charlotte) Towne of Brighton, Mich., and Ramon (Lynn) Towne of San Francisco, Calif.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepbrother, stepsister and a great-granddaughter. A funeral service for Mardine Towne will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette with the Rev. Kathy Currier officiating. Private interment will take place at the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Mary Louise Somsel, 62, of Hillsdale, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility.  She was born Feb. 28, 1947 in Cambria Township, to Lorain and June (Keiser) Farrell.  She was formerly married to John Bowman in 1963.  On July 8, 1977, she married Carl Somsel and he survives. Mary was a member of the Hillsdale City Church.  She attended Hillsdale High School.  Mary enjoyed her grandchildren, family activities, camping and garage sales. Surviving besides her husband Carl are two children, Melinda Breault and Brian Bowman, both of Hillsdale; her mother, June Dull of Osseo; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Barb (Mike) Vernier of Coldwater and Sherry (Phil) Shaw of North Adams; two step-sons, Kevin and Scott; two half-sisters, Linda and Pat and a half-brother, Joe; and best friend Becky Hanning. She was preceded in death by her father, Lorain and step-father, Don Dull. Graveside memorial services for Mary Somsel will take place at a later date at the Morgan Cemetery in Hillsdale County.  There will be no visitation or calling hours at this time.  Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Melanie May Collins, 32, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday Jan. 23, 2010 at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. She was born July 25, 1977 in Coldwater. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1995 and was a substitute bus driver for Camden-Frontier Schools. Melanie received a medical assistant degree from Ross Medical School and was attending Kellogg Community College to become a registered nurse. She enjoyed cooking, music and dancing, had a wonderful sense of humor and an outgoing personality, and loved her family. On Oct. 23, 1999, she married John Collins and he survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Allison Marie Collins, Hillsdale; a son, Jared Michael Collins, Hillsdale; parents, Marion Leroy and Alice (Houtz) Stemen,  Allen; sister, Amy (Jack Church) Stemen, Homer; and a brother, Joshua (Sarah) Stemen, Quincy. She was preceded in death by two grandmothers and two grandfathers. Funeral services are at 1 pm. Thursday at the George White Funeral Home, Reading, with Pastor Paul Pickell officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Jefferson Township. Visitation is scheduled Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mildred L. Bowman, age 91 of Addison, passed away on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility in Hillsdale. She was born on Oct. 13, 1918, in Medina Township to Curtis H. and Theresa (Dillion) McKibbin.  She married Maxwell J. Bowman on Jan. 16, 1938, in Addison, and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1974. Mildred graduated from Addison High School in 1937.  She operated the former Bowman’s Bakery in Addison from 1938-1940 and then she worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti.  She was a cook at Addison Hospital for 13 years, retiring in 1988.  She also was a homemaker all her life. Mildred was a member of the former Addison Methodist Church, member of the Addison Senior Citizens Center and the Carousel Club of Addison. Surviving are one son, Owen H. (Jane) Bowman of Addison, one daughter, Marlene (Paul) Gillespie of Dartown, Ohio, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one sister, Juanita Jennings of North Adams, nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell, one son, Dr, George E. Bowman, one daughter, Maxine Gerber and one brother, Charles McKibbin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Will Snyder officiating.  Burial will take place in Dibble Cemetery, Wheatland Township.  Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today. He married Patti A. Thompson on July 30, 1983, on Goose Lake, Cement City, and she survives. Rick lived in the Cement City area all his life. He graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1968. He then earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Jackson Community College. Rick was in the National Guard from 1968-1974. He was part owner of Paradise Campground in Cement City. He was the Woodstock Township Police Chief from 1970-1997, and he also trained K-9 Dogs. He then was employed at the Gus Harrison Facility in Adrian since 1997. Rick was elected Woodstock Township Supervisor in 2008. He was on the Addison Hospital Board for several years. He was a member of the Durkee-Seager Post #550 American Legion, Onsted, and a member 3689 Fraternal Order of Eagles of Brooklyn. Surviving besides his wife, Patti, are one stepson, Derek (Ann) Tipton of Ocala, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Shawn (Mike) Hendershot of Adrian; one brother, Terry (Linda) Williams of Clark Lake; two sisters, Deborah (Jerry) Lowe of Manitou Beach, Karin (John) Devine of Cement City; his father, Harold L. Williams of Cement City; several grandchildren, and several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Cement City Baptist Church in Cement City, with Pastor Drew Woods and the Rev. Chris Cadwallader officiating. Mrs. Russo had managed the former Gittleman’s Clothing Store in Coldwater and also worked at the former Benedict’s Restaurant. Rosemary had owned and operated an interior decorating business and for many years she had been the Assistant Program Director and Trip Coordinator at the HC Burnside Senior Center in Coldwater, retiring in 2008. She was very devout in her Catholic faith, belonging to St. Charles Borromeo Church, where she was a member of the St. Elizabeth guild and proud to have served as the first female president of the Coldwater Downtown Business Association. Rosemary and her husband Sam loved to dance and proudly took second place in the first annual Coldwater “Dancing with Celebrities” competition in 2008. She enjoyed reading and loved to cook, but most of all she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. Rosemary is survived by her husband Sam, her sons Joe and Deb Russo of Reston Va. and Sam and Karen Russo of Erlanger, Kent., her daughter Mary and Jim Buettner of Belmont, her grandchildren Joe, Angela, Tiffany, Vanessa, Sophia, Elissa, Regina and Samantha five great grandchildren. He was a member of the Wilbur-Barlett Post #315 American Legion, Brooklyn, Mich., member of 3689 Fraternal Order of Eagles of Brooklyn, and a member of the U.A.W. Local 892 in Saline. Terry was an avid bowler, where he was on leagues at Brooklyn and at the Lenawee Rec. He was also an avid reader. Surviving besides his wife, Carol, are one son, Brian (Rochelle) Adams of Tecumseh; two daughters, Kelli (Kurt) Reichert of Macomb Township, Mich., and Kristen (Paris) Anderson of Jackson; nine grandchildren; his mother, Marjorie Adams of Jonesville; one sister, Bobbie (Marlon) Reed of Hillsdale; and one aunt, Dorothy Broughton of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson. HAUGHTON, La. — Funeral services for Bill Van Amberg will be held today, Feb. 1, 2010, at 10 a.m., at the Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Harrell Shelton and Pastor Roy Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Bill was born in Greenville, S.C., on April 20, 1957, and joined his Lord and Savior on Jan. 27, 2010. Bill was employed as a car hauler for Jack Cooper Transport for the past 14 years, and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 568.Bill graduated from high school in Traverse City and was a resident of Traverse City for 10 years on Four Mile Road. He was a member of Airline Baptist Church in Bossier City, La., and a follower of Jesus Christ, whom he came to know in New Orleans, La., at the 2000 Southern Baptist Convention.Bill is survived by his wife, Sue, whom he married on Valentines Day 1985; one daughter, Stephanie Sebren; and three grandchildren, Brooke, Braden and Bryn. He is also survived by his parents, Larry and Patricia Van Amberg; his sister, Barbara Tabor; nephew, John Rose; along with other family, friends and his "running buddies". Vincent H. Counterman, 69, of Portage, passed away Saturday evening, Jan. 30, 2010, at his residence. Vince was born April 14, 1940, in Paw Paw the son of Henry “Hank” and Marie (Oddi) Counterman. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. A graduate of Paw Paw H.S., Vince enjoyed playing all sports, especially track. In his early years he spent many hours working on the family fruit farm. The past 30 years Vince self-published a weekly newspaper in Charlotte, N.C. and Kalamazoo, most recently The Grapevine Weekly in Kalamazoo. He attended Centerpoint Church and enjoyed gardening, coffee with his friends, and golf. Vince was preceded in death by his former wife Shirley. On August 2, 1997, he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Lavonne, who survives and she cherished his love and devotion. Also surviving are his children, Rhonda (Donald) Stull, Randy (Terri) Counterman, Rick Counterman, Renee (Dan) Collins; step-children, Eric Henckel, Julie (Scott) Woodstock, Tammy (Chad) Mitchell; 11 grandchildren, Clay (Jessica) Stull, Alex (Melissa) Stull, Kaitlyn Stull, Emily Stull, Wyatt and Joey Counterman, Shaun and Abbey Woodstock, Ryan and Nathan Henckel, Wyatt Mitchell; one great-granddaughter, Norah Stull; sisters and brother, Sherry Campbell, Chuck Counterman, Bonnie (Roger) Fenstermaker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery (meet in assembly area at 10:50 a.m.). A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Centerpoint Church, 2345 N. 10th Street with Pastor Dar VanderWal officiating. Friends may meet the family Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.

W. Gayle "Bill" Davis, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Boyne City on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010. He was born in Grand Rapids, on Jan. 19, 1931, to J. Warne and Florence (Spidel) Davis. Bill was still an infant when his family moved back to East Jordan, where his mother was born and raised. He had many fond memories of summers spent on his grandparents, Wilbur and Bertha Spidel's, farm. After graduating from East Jordan High School with the class of 1949, Bill worked for Buick in Flint, riding his Indian motorcycle back to East Jordan every weekend. In 1951, he married the former Esther Zitka. They were later divorced.

William P. “Bill” Mitchell, age 67, of Addison passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at his home, under the loving care of his family. Bill was born March 27, 1942, in Holloway, Mich., the son of James and Dorothy (Bailey) Mitchell. He graduated from Blissfield High School with the Class of 1960 and went on to attend Adrian College. On Jan. 26, 1964, Bill married the love of his life, Ruth “Carolyn” Lloyd, in North Baltimore, Ohio. Carolyn, his wife of 46 years, survives. Bill worked for Addison Products and VACO Tool in Jonesville as a purchasing agent. He then started Maple Leaf Financial Investments as an independent broker for Raymond James Financial Services. Bill was an active member of the Addison United Church, serving on their Board. He served on the Addison School Board and the Maurice Spear Campus Board as well. He was a member of the Adrian Rotary Club and an active supporter of Ducks Unlimited where he worked on committees. For many years, Bill taught Hunter Safety in Addison, and shared his passion for the outdoors and hunting. Above all, Bill was a family man. He looked forward to weekend gatherings, and enthusiastically supported his grandchildren in sports and 4-H.    In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children, Claire (Mike) Warner of Onsted, Laura (David) Boomer of Eaton Rapids, William “Pat” (Tamara) Mitchell of Addison and Jennifer (Tom) Gaff of Shelby Township; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Nash, Nicole, Kelsey and Carly Warner, Courtney, Alec and Liam Boomer, Anthony Olson, Emily Olson-Fox, Ava Mitchell, and Mitchell and Lauren Gaff; a sister, Mary Ann (James) Derby of Addison; and nephew, Jeff Derby of Hudson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James, and niece, Marlene Derby. At Bill’s request, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life honoring Bill will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the Maurice Spear Campus Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Jewett and Pastor Will Snyder officiating. Friends may visit the family at Wagley Funeral Home on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. You may also send condolences at www.wagleyfuneralhome.com.
