He was a substitute teacher for LLC Professional Education Services. Graduated in 2002 from Anchor Bay High School where he was a member of the ROTC and in 2008 from Eastern Michigan University and coached a baseball team for special needs children. He is survived by his parents Robert and Ronette Rapp of Clay Township, brother Michael and sister Malissa also of Clay Township; his grandparents, Arlene Rapp of Warren and Ronald (Alice) Mominee of Westmoreland, Tenn.; his girlfriend Stephanie Yetter, his dog Pepper Ann and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him. Lewis Virgil Bunnell, age 90, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at Sturgis Hospital. He was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Battle Creek, Mich., a son of the late George and Lula (Fisher) Bunnell. Mr. Bunnell had resided in the Sturgis and Burr Oak area his whole life. On June 26, 1937 he married June Pinney in Burr Oak. He had been employed by Purity Cylinder Gas in Kalamazoo for 16 years retiring in 1981. Prior to joining Purity Cylinder Gas he had worked at G.F. Business Equipment in Sturgis for 27 years. Mr. Bunnell was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II earning the rank of Fireman First Class. He was a member of Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and he enjoyed motorcycles and working on automobiles. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, June Bunnell; two sons, Larry (Jena) Bunnell of Colon and Terry Bunnell of Portage; three grandchildren, Shannon Bunnell of Aspen, Colo., Todd Bunnell of Anchorage, Ala., and Troy (Sheri) Bunnell of Portage. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Judy Bunnell. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Mich. Margaret has been a resident of Sturgis for the past 46 years coming from the Chicago Heights area. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting. Surviving are her husband, Carl; three children, Vickie (Galen) Harman of Howe, Ind., Richard (Karmen) Bolla, and Karen Bolla, both of Sturgis; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Steve Feher. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Marie L. Shook, age 102, of Leo, Ind., and a former longtime Sturgis resident and school teacher, passed away Friday afternoon, March 12, 2010, at the Cedars Nursing Home in Leo, Ind. She was born Jan. 31, 1908 in White Pigeon, a daughter to the late Cleveland and Alta (Weagley) Bixler. She had moved to Leo, Ind., in 2006 to be closer to family members. Prior to that Mrs. Shook had resided nearly her entire life in the Sturgis and White Pigeon area and was a graduate of White Pigeon High School with the class of 1926. Mrs. Shook continued her education at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where she received a bachelor’s degree of arts in education. On Dec. 15 1929, she married Paul E. Shook in LaGrange, Ind. He died March 15, 1982. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Ruth Circle. She was also a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. Mrs. Shook was proud to have traveled to all 50 states. She is survived by two daughters, Doris Recht of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Lois Green of Polk City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Wright of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Carl Bixler and Earl Bixler; and three sisters, Esther Sechler, Florence Shaffer and Kathleen Tracey. The family will receive friends from noon -1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Marie Shook will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Deb Johnson will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Ray was born June 11, 1929, in Moscow Township, Hillsdale County, the son of Ora E. and Mary Lou (Routzong) Sanders. He graduated from Pittsford High School in 1947. Ray served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Dorothy L. Osmun Dec. 22, 1952, in Angola, Ind. She survives. Ray farmed and worked as a welder for Metalloy for over 32 years. He enjoyed camping and raising livestock. Surviving Ray are his wife, Dorothy; three children, David Sanders of Pittsford, Fred (Connie) Sanders of Osseo and Vicki (John) Maschino of Pittsford; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Freda Rodehaver of Hudson and Betty Truman of Flint and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dan Sanders. Funeral services for Ray will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11 at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. Clyde L. Wonders officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson with full military honors conducted by American Legion Hannan- Colvin Post #180 of Hudson. Raymond E. ‘Gene’ Faler March 30, 1942 — March 6, 2010 Raymond Eugene “Gene” Faler, 67, of rural Stryker, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 6, 2010, in the Emergency Department of Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. following an apparent heart attack. Gene was born March 30, 1942 in Montpelier, Ohio, to Ruth Arlene Dilworth and Kenneth Monroe Faler. The family resided during his formative years in the Camden area and he was a graduate of Camden – Frontier High School. He then attended Spring Arbor University, Kent State University, and graduated from Bowling Green State University. A master craftsman and avid woodworker, he had retired after 32 years as an Industrial Arts teacher with Archbold Schools. Earlier he had taught industrial arts in the West Unity Schools. Following retirement, he had owned and operated Faler Construction, a home building and remodeling business, employing many of his former students over the years. He was an active member of Archbold Evangelical Church, having served as an Elder, Sunday school superintendent, and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a loving husband to Kay (Robertson) Faler, to whom he was married on June 25, 1966; devoted father to son Douglas Stephen (Destini) Faler, Pioneer, Ohio and daughter Dawn (David) Follis, Camden; grandfather to Kasey and Trey Follis; Kaleb, Koleman, and Kassidy Faler. Richard E. Nowak, 79, of Bronson, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Three Rivers. Richard was born April 10, 1930, in Sturgis, a son of Edwin and Veronica (Malicki) Nowak.  Mr. Nowak spent many years in the Bronson area, graduating from Bronson High School in 1948.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. Richard worked for Clemmer Trucking in Livonia and then Associated Truck Lines in Coldwater for many years, retiring in 1992.   Mr. Nowak was very active in the American Legion in Orland and also belonged to the Coldwater F.O.E. He enjoyed gardening, spending time up north and at the lake, but most of all he enjoyed traveling. Richard is survived by his sons, David Nowak and Randy (Carol) Nowak, all of Sherwood; a daughter, Lynda Weers of Coldwater; grandchildren Kevin Nowak, Keith Nowak, Robyn, Jasen Weers and William Phillips; and great-grandchildren Makayla, Kirsten and Cody Phillips.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Virginia Szafranski. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson, with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #259 in Bronson. The Rev. Fr. Robert E. Blosser, 85, of Union City, passed away on March 13, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born May 4, 1924 in Hicksville, Ohio, to Andrew M. and Alma (Reeb) Blosser. He married Alice Weage on Oct. 16, 1948 in Big Rapids. He worked as a painting contractor in Branch and surrounding counties for many years. He was a member of the Seabees serving in the South Pacific during Word War II. Bob is survived by his wife Alice; two sons Bob (Mary Ann) Blosser of Union City and Andy (Kyoko) Blosser of Oak Point, Texas; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother Bill Blosser of Tenn. He was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. Bob attended First Baptist Church of Coldwater. He was a member of the Christian Sowers, loved to hunt, fish, play cards and spend time with his family. He was an avid camper and had traveled to Central America. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 16, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. She was born May 9, 1907, in White Pigeon, the daughter of Elliot Wellington and Charity (Whitting)Beckwith. She lived in White Pigeon all of her life, but spent four years in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Detroit. She was a graduate of White Pigeon High School with the Class of 1927. On Nov. 12, 1953, she married Dale W. Harris. He died Jan. 30, 1991. She was last employed by Michigan Gas and Electric for eight years, retiring in 1955. She also worked at Atlands, Swinehart Butcher Shop, and the Dime Store and Roys, all in White Pigeon. She was a member of the White Pigeon First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one son, Robert S. (Helen)Pendleton of Sturgis; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth C. Gadson; a son, Edward A. Pendleton; and several brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends may call from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon where services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. William H. Love, age 75, of Adrian went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2010. He was at home surrounded by family and friends. William was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Phil Campbell, Ala., to Hugh A. and Josie A. (Hand) Love. On June 30, 1956, he married Joyce G. Nichols in Adrian and she survives. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956. William was a member of the Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church. He taught Senior Men’s Sunday School Class for a number of years until his health declined, and he was also on the church council. He was a life member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #333 and the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge #69. His hobbies included watching sporting events, especially College Football and Tigers baseball. His family, as well as his church family, were very special to him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Larry W. (Debbie) Love of Gibraltar, Mich.; one brother, Hershel (Mary Helen) Love of Sand Creek, Mich.; two grandsons, Eric S. (Allison) Love and Daniel J. Love; and he lived to see the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Jonathan William Love, on Jan. 28, 2010, which was especially important to him. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Steven. Funeral services for William will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Brian Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
