Dolores Wisienski was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 24, 1930, to Frank and Katherine (Rumak) Wisienski. She married Trayton Junior Gough on December 20, 1950, in Deckerville. She was proud to be a farmer's wife and a homemaker who enjoyed being outdoors in the fresh air. She loved working on the family farm and tending her flower and vegetable gardens. Many of the thousands of citrus trees on their grove in Florida, she grew root stock from seed, then grafted and budded the many different varieties to the root stock and finally, helped hand pick many of the thousands of boxes of fruit each year. She took great pride in these productive trees. And the fresh squeezed orange juice was pretty darn good also! She was gifted at getting plants and flowers to grow. She would look for unusual and unique plants, propagate them from seeds or cuttings and the flowers that followed were always superb! She also enjoyed the Western and the Sci-Fi Channels on TV. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Trayton Junior (Jr.), two sons; William (Christine) of Bay City and Trayton John (TJ) of Paisley, Florida, a very special daughter-in-law; Koko of Altoona, Florida, five grandchildren; Wil (Stacey) Gough of Mayville, Cindy (Daniel) Vincent of Utah, Sandi Gough of Utah, Kristie Stone of Deckerville and Nikki LaRue (Jerry) of Summerville, Tennessee, nine great grandchildren; Ryan, Trevor, Tyler, Austin, Alyssa, Kyle, Gabe, Lucas, and Lana. She is also survived by many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Dolores was predeceased by her mother, Katherine, father, Frank, her brother, Edward Wisienski and grandson Jeremy Gough. The Gough family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Cecil Hamill, formerly with the Sanilac County Bank, for his confidence in their abilities and his financial assistance by investing in Dolores & Trayton's Michigan Dairy and later crop farming operation. They farmed in Bridgehampton Township for 27 years. This eventually provided them with the financial ability to invest in their Florida orange groves where they have enjoyed living and working for the last 23 years in the sunshine of Florida's great outdoors. The family would like to extend their heart felt thanks to Koko for her love and care of Dolores in her final days. A celebration of life for Dolores E. Gough was held at the Apsey Funeral Home, your "Legacy of Life" funeral home with Fr. Charles Hammon officiating. Burial was in Downing Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to

HEARD HARRY EUGENE

His send off was in cadence with his magnanimous and cantankerous personality. He used his knowledge of veteran affairs along with his booming voice and imposing stature to act as a strong advocate for veterans, their spouses and dependents. And so, with great pomp and pageantry and a twenty-one-gun salute befitting of such a man, Harry Eugene Heard was laid to rest March 18, 2009. He passed away March 12, 2009 from injuries that he sustained from an automobile accident in his hometown of McDonough, Georgia. Harry was born June 7, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia. He spent his formative years in Detroit where he attended elementary, middle school, and later graduated Northwestern High School. Afterwards his adventurous spirit led him to join the United States Air Force where he traveled stateside and to far off lands such as Japan, Korea, Europe and Vietnam where he sustained injuries and was awarded a Purple Heart. Mr. Heard also received many other medals, awards, and citations during his 20 years of service and retired as a Hydraulic Specialist with the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, he returned to Detroit where he worked briefly as a file clerk with the Department of Veteran Affairs in the Patrick V. McNamara building. Shortly thereafter, he was hired as a National Service Officer with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) where he retired with over 15 years of service. During this time, he also completed his education and graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelors in Sociology. He later returned to his native Georgia where he was employed as a Veterans Representative with DeVry University. His final employment was with the Military Order of the Purple Hearts as a Field Service Supervisor. Harry was a member of many civic and professional organizations. He was a Life Member of the DAV. He also served as past Commander of the DAV for Keane-Rankin Detroit Chapter #1. He was also a Life Member of the Military Order of the Purple Hearts, Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Georgia Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen. He was also a 33degree Mason. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, and drawing, but his greatest passion was listening to jazz music with a penchant for bebop. His interest in jazz coupled with military and other history, was evident in his record and film library, which boasted over 3,000 tapes. Harry was a tireless advocate in his pursuit of service to veterans and did so after retirement and until his death. Family, friends and well-wishers spoke of how their lives had been impacted by having known him. He was buried in his military uniform, resplendent with ribbons and medals, as he would have liked. SAMUEL C. BAKER LEXINGTON On Saturday, March 28, 2009, quietly and privately, as he lived his life, Samuel C. Baker, departed from his earthly home to join other family members and loved ones. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth, his sister Christine, five brothers, two nephews Charles Richard and Roblee. During his last hours, the tears flowed freely from those who loved him best and while there will be emptiness in their lives, the memories will remain strong, as was the man himself. His story-telling tales were entertaining, his laughter infectious, his appreciation of good food and especially chocolate pie well-known, and his interest in hunting and dogs more than a hobby. He was many things to many people. To his hunting friends, he will be remembered as "The Coon Man", to family members Uncle Charles, to neighbors simple "Sam". He served his country as a Staff Sgt. in the Army during WWII receiving many commendations and awards. He was loved by many, and is survived byone sister; Minnie (Bill) Trombley and his very special friends, Linda & Buck Lashbrook and Trudy, and two stepdaughters. His nieces and nephews were his family and to those who loved him the best, he will always be missed but when remembered it will be with a smile. Per his request there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements made by Pomeroy Funeral Home, Lexington.

SAWYER WINSTON (BUZZ)

died March 29 at his home in Detroit. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he joined GM after graduating from the College of William and Mary and held management positions in Norfolk, Washington, Detroit and overseas in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Belgium. In Saudi Arabia, Winston encountered his first Saluki, a native Middle Eastern hunting hound and brought one of the first Saluki to the United States. There have been at least one or two Salukis sharing his life since the early 70's. A charter member of Huron Valley Saluki Club, Winston was active in club affairs. Another life-long, abiding interest--- the automobile. He admired and collected classic Cadillacs and La Salles and served as secretary of the Cadillac and La Salle Club of America. In his youth, Winston was a member of the Norfolk Corvette Club and drove a 'Vette until recent years. Always the car buff, the last car he ordered, sight unseen, was the Saturn Sky, "because the styling caught my eye". Winston had a discerning taste for fine foods and belonged to a Gourmet Club for twenty years, often hosting dinners in his historic Detroit home. He loved to play bridge and was a collector and discerning connoisseur of antique silver and china. After retirement from GM, Winston volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul as an advisor for antiques. He also worked 10 years for the Downtown Detroit Partnership. A man of impeccable manners and elegant demeanor, Winston was the ultimate Southern Gentleman. A charming man who loved his Salukis, his Cadillacs and his cigarettes, Winston will be missed by his family, his many friends and his cherished Saluki, Anna. Born to Paul Heath and Dora Ward Sawyer in 1933, Winston, the youngest of 6, has two surviving sisters, Teena Hartung and Mable de Steuben. Three siblings preceded him in death, Evelyn Keefe, Margaret Ann Beaman, and Paul Clark Sawyer, all from the Norfolk area. He was the beloved uncle to five nieces and seven nephews. Memorials in his honor may be made to Huron Valley Saluki Club, 3415 Iroquois St., Detroit, MI 48214.
