April 19, 2009. Age 98, of Kissimmee, FL. Preceded in death by her first husband of 17 years, James I. Fill (1905-1955); and her second husband of almost 61 years, Claude D. Anderson (1920-2006). Born in Detroit to Frank, Sr. and Antonia Klauza, she was the 7th of 11 children. She raised 10 children. Those children gave her 127 descendents at last count. She is survived by her baby sister, Virginia (Louis) Kassuba of Gaylord, MI; and two sisters-in-law, Maxine Klauza of Clarksburg, OH (who is 101), and Eleanor Klauza of Allen Park, MI. Predeceased by her oldest child, Virginia Brooks; 2 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 2 grandsons & 1 granddaughter. Survived by 9 children, Anette, Harry (Dot), Raymond (Kay), Loretta (Bernard), James (Joy), Gerald (Fran), Bob (Joan), Richard, Charles (Gloria), 47 grandchildren & spouses, step-grandchildren & spouses, 45 great-grandchildren & spouses & 15 great great grandchildren. Instate Fri. 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church of Wayne until Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 am. B. Irene Weideman, age 89, of Tecumseh died Monday, April 20, 2009, at Charlotte Stephenson Home in Adrian.  She was born on May 21, 1919, in England. On May 9, 1941, she was married to Alvin Weideman who preceded her in death in 1999. Irene was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and golfing, and was a connoisseur of chocolate, which she loved to eat. Irene is survived by one son, Dennis (Dotte) Weideman of Leslie, Mich.; one daughter, Pamela (Doug) Piper of Tecumseh, Mich.; four grandchildren, Steve Weideman, Shelly Smitowski, Jennifer Knauf and C.J. Weideman; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Irene was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Graveside Services will be held at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, on Thursday, April 23, at 11 a.m. with Pastor David McKinstry officiating. He was born June 15, 1998 in Port Huron, son to Jay and Sue Burton. He was in the 4th grade at Marlette Elementary School. Connor was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette. He enjoyed playing basketball, soccer, golf and gymnastics. He also loved to hunt, fish, listening to music and playing video games. Darrell E. Sternberg, 74, retired Adrian school teacher, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Flower Hospital, Sylvania, Ohio. Darrell was born in Centralia, Ill., and graduated from Centralia High School. He graduated from Bradley University and took graduate studies at Siena Heights University, Southern Methodist University and the University of Illinois. He taught commercial courses at Adrian High School for more than 30 years where he was chairman of the department. Many of his former accounting students went on to be become CPAs. Darrell had a life-time interest in chickens, was famed as a baker, and enjoyed bringing pastries to the Watts’ cottage at Sand Lake and to Christmas dinner in the Old West End, Toledo, and to other friends. He volunteered his bookkeeping skills to the Croswell Opera House and many other organizations over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Sternberg and Mamie Sternberg, of Centralia, who were married more than 60 years; and by his sister, Evelyn Broughton. of Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his brother, Robert M.  Sternberg of Centralia, Ill., a niece and several nephews. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Collingwood Boulevard, Toledo, Ohio. His residual bequests were to create an organ music fund for the First Congregational Church and to benefit Bradley University. Visitation will be at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, Ohio from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009. There will be a musical memorial service at First Congregational Church, 2315 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 3. Edna M. Kleinknecht 1917-2009 Edna M. Kleinknecht, 92, Harbor Beach, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Harbor Beach Community Hospital under hospice care. She was born March 12, 1917 in Harbor Beach to the late Earl and Elva (Asher) Melick. Edna married Ernest Howard on August 12, 1932. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1976. She married Lloyd Kleinknecht on September 15, 1978. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1994. Edna worked for many years at the Harbor Beach Community Hospital in the dietary area. She loved spending time with her family. Edna is survived by her children, Judy Learman, Harbor Beach, Carole Krease, Walled Lake, Gene (Josette) Howard, Hampton, Va., and Dean Howard, New Baltimore; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her siblings. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 18, 2009 in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, with Rev. Paula Timm officiating. Edna Marcile Hardy, 91, of Jerome, passed away Jan. 28, 2009, at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital in Shenandoah, Texas. She was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Brooklyn, Mich., to Percy and Nina (Stewart) Tilden. She married Ralph Douglas Hardy on May 4, 1940, in Manchester, Mich., and he preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1994. She lived most of her life in Tipton, Manitou Beach and Jerome area.  She graduated from Napoleon High School  in 1937.  Edna attended Cosmetology School in Ann Arbor for one year.  She was co-owner of Hardy-Reed Tool & Die in Manitou Beach for 11 years, retiring in 1971.  She wintered in Conroe, Texas.  She enjoyed playing cards at the Addison Senior Citizens Center, enjoyed jig-saw puzzles and visiting with her friends. Surviving are three daughters, Ellen Miller of Pittsford, Pat (Roger) June of Mason, Ohio and Mary (Steve) Bowman of Conroe, Texas; one son, Thomas Hardy of Manitou Beach; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Josephine Wineland of Quincy. She was preceded in death by her parents,her husband and one sister, Margarite Virginia Prielipp. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25 at the Addison United Church, with the Rev. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Gary Church; two brothers and a sister. H. Aileen Hinds H. Aileen Hinds, Birmingham, formerly Detroit, died March 10, 2009. Aileen graduated from Mackenzie High in Detroit and the University of Michigan in Dearborn. She was a social work supervisor for the State of Michigan until she retired in December 1996. She loved reading, doing historical research, going to garage sales and flea markets, attending car shows and the Woodward Dream Cruise. She was an active member of the Mid-States Ceramic Study Group, the Michigan Sports Car Club and the Caseville Historical Society. She is survived by her cat, Natalie and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Hinds and her beloved pets, Alex, Sylvia, Red Dot, Smudge and Tootsie. Aileen will be laid to rest at Grandlawn Cemetery in Detroit at 12:30 p.m. on April 24, 2009. Memorials may be directed to the Caseville Historical Society. Harold W. “Hal” Birkhold  Jr., 63, of Kansas City, Mo.,  passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He was born in Three Rivers on Sept. 30, 1945, the son of Harold W. and Ellen (Campbell) Birkhold Sr. Hal graduated from Centreville High School in 1963 and received his bachelors degree from Ferris State University in 1967. He married Janice Frohriep on June 26, 1965, they were later divorced. Hal worked as a tool and die maker for GM and Delphi having worked at Fisher Body in Kalamazoo, Wichita Falls, and Kansas City. He retired in 2008 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Missouri and enjoyed country and blue grass music. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Paul Drust; grandchildren Dan Drust and Susie Drust, all of Sturgis. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Rosalie (Anspaugh) Wells Birkhold; and sister Peggy Lee Johnson. Irene Agnes Holdwick 1922-2009 Irene Agnes (Volmering) Holdwick, 86, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital. She was born on June 29, 1922 in Ruth to the late William and Theresa (Guitar) Volmering. She lived with her parents until the early 1940's when she worked in Bad Axe and Port Huron before she was married. She married Robert C. Holdwick on October 8, 1947 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth with Rev. Frank Kaufman officiating. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2000. Irene was a graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul Elementary School. She was a lifelong parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ruth, where she was a former officer and honorary member of the Christian Mothers. She was honored to be Mama Ruth at the annual Mama Ruth picnic at Sts. Peter & Paul. Irene farmed with her family for most of the life. She was employed for seven years at the former Hamill Manufacturing company, Bad Axe. She was a member and former officer of the Parisville V.F.W. Post #5740 Auxiliary. She retired from farming in 1988. Irene was a dedicated wife and mother, raising a family of five daughters and three sons. She enjoyed quilting, needlework, gardening, traveling, playing euchre and cooking. James A. Carman, 88, Coldwater died Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Community Health Center of Branch County. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Coldwater First Presbyterian Church with  Dr. James Troust officiating.  Interment of ashes will be at the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium. James was born Nov. 19, 1920 in Buffalo, N.Y. to Nelson and Caroline (Jopp) Carman. He married Margaret Stimpson on Dec. 7, 1944 in Long Beach, Calif. Mr. Carman graduated from Highland Park High School in 1938 and Michigan State in 1943 with a B.S degree in Chemistry. He then went to Midshipmans School in Chicago, was commissioned Ensign in the Navy, where he spent the next two years in the South Pacific and discharged in 1945 as Lt. jg. After serving in the military, James went to work for Ford Motor Co., as a senior buyer until 1956. He then went to work at Hoover Universal in Ann Arbor as Vice President and General Manager of the Bearing Division, retiring in 1970. James has been in the Branch County area for the past ten years. He was active in many Presbyterian Churches, serving as an elder. Jim was a councilman and former mayor of Mackinaw City, served on the Lower Michigan Library Board and also was chosen as Man of the Year in 1987 by the Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce. . He and his wife, Margaret were avid golfers and traveled extensively in the United States, putting over 100,000 miles on their motor home. Mr. Carman was preceded in death by his son James Carman, Jr. and his daughter Leslie Sue Carman. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his sons Christopher (Evelyn) Carman of Martin and David (Deborah) Carman of Coldwater, grandchildren Christopher, Jonathon, Zachary, Peter, Shane and Olivia Carman and great-grandchildren, Riley Christopher and Addison Hope Carman. Joyce B. Johnson, 95, of Coldwater died Monday, April 20, 2009 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility. Joyce was born June 15, 1913 in Belvidere, Nebraska to John Thomas and Sara Jane Louise (Bowen) Brinegar. She married Clarence Johnson on Feb. 14, 1936 in Nebraska. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2008. Joyce earned her Associates Degree from Hebron College in Nebraska, teaching school for two years prior to her marriage to Clarence. She enjoyed being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Coming to the Branch County area in 1965, she was an active member of the Reformation Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Church Ladies Organization. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed knitting, in which she was very gifted. She volunteered her time with many elections and was an avid card player, belonging to many card clubs. Joyce is survived by her sons Jerald (Charlotte) Johnson of Naperville, Ill., Joel (Cheryl) Johnson of Manitou Beach, Jay and (Cindy) Johnson of Coldwater, her daughter Janet (Stan) Geisz of Washington, Ill., her sister Marjorie Mathieson of Tulsa, OKla., seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. Junior Stephen Burkhardt, 78, 3781 Regan Road, Denton, N.C., and formerly of Bronson, Mich., died on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Junior was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Marshall, Mich. He resided in Bronson for 54 years. He graduated from Athens High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Army. He retired after 32 years with Consumers Energy. His passion of race cars led him and his son, Mark, to create a family operated business, Burkhardt Racing. Junior was preceded in death by a son, Jeff, and brothers, Nyle and Elwyn. He retired after 32 years with Consumers Energy. His passion for race cars led him and his son Mark to create a family operated business, Burkhardt Racing. Junior was preceded in death by a son, Jeff, and brothers Nyle and Elwyn. Lawrence Eugene “Larry” Owens, of Jonesville, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. He was born July 16, 1943, in Addison, the son of Virgil and Ruth (Myers) Owens. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Lennox) Owens, whom he married on Oct. 2, 1965. He is also survived by his parents, Virgil and Ruth Owens of Jonesville; three children, Larry Jr. (Denise) Owens of Jackson, Raquel (Tim) Owens of North Adams and Stephanie Owens of North Adams; four grandsons, Brock, Ridge, Bryce and Nathan; one step grandson, Jonathan; one brother, Gary (Mary Jo) Owens of Hillsdale; one sister, Marietta (Randy) Raber of Tampa, Fla. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Owens. Larry graduated from North Adams High School and retired from Hillsdale Tool in 2008 after over 37 years of service. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family at the campgrounds. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed football and NASCAR racing and was a former coach for baseball in the North Adams area. He was also a cancer survivor for the Relay for Life. The family will receive friends for visitation at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22. At his request, cremation will follow the visitation and a private service for the family will be held at a later date. Lou Wanda was employed at the Ubly Community School since 1981 in the cafeteria and custodian of maintenance. Marian L. Einhardt 1924 - 2009 Marian L. Einhardt, 85, Pigeon, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 at her home. She was born in Kilmanagh on March 3, 1924, the daughter of the late Otto and Elsie (Armbruster) Volz. On April 23, 1944 she was united in marriage to Adolph Einhardt at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh. Marian worked for the St. John's Lutheran Church and School in Pigeon for ten years and enjoyed working on the family farm until retirement. She loved playing softball in her younger years, as a pitcher. She enjoyed quilting and made many quilts. She loved and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at St. John's Lutheran Church and Scenic Golf and Country Club. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pigeon. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Adolph Einhardt, Pigeon; daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Mohr, Essexville; son, Dale (Barbara) Einhardt, Rochester; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Margaret Nieschulz and two brothers, Donald and Walter Volz. Marion G. Skeels, age 89, of Adrian passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, at University of Toledo Hospital. Marion was born May 14, 1919, in Detroit, the daughter of John and Teresa Cooke.  After graduating from McKenzie High School, she attended Michigan State University where she received a degree in education and home economics. On Oct. 18, 1947, Marion married Donald Skeels in Detroit. Marion and Donald celebrated 61 years of marriage prior to his death in January. Marion taught briefly at Rochester Public Schools. Her life’s work and passion, though, was her family. She was an excellent cook and also known for wonderful cakes, pies and cookies. Marion was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was active in the Adrian Woman’s Club where she served in many administrative positions. Marion was also very artistic and enjoyed painting, sewing and many different types of crafts. Marion is survived by her three sons, Donald (Lorie) Skeels of Stoughton, Wis., Mark (Mary) Skeels of Clayton and Matthew (Kim) Skeels of Traverse City; seven grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Emily, Ethan, Zach, Alison and Leah, and five great-grandchildren, Sophy, Silas, Ayda, Henry and Lyra. Also surviving is her brother, John (Julia) Roberts of Murietta, Calif. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Roberts. The funeral service for Marion will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009, at Wagley Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Brundage officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park. Mary loved her family and she was a great dedicated witness and worker for The Lord. In addition to her husband, Pete, she is survived by her two daughters, Kelly (Paul) Kirk and their children, Zachary, Stefanie, Alison and Samantha; and Jennifer (Mark) Broberg and their children, Haillie, Noah, Jonah and Silas; three brothers, Abel Sanchez, Edward Sanchez and Armando Sanchez; three sisters, Irene Gonzalez, Ruth Gomez and Josephina Alvardo. Mary M. Hess passed away peacefully in California on April 1, 2009. She was a child of God. Mrs. Hess was born in Adrian, Mich., on July 10, 1916. She is survived by daughter Marianne Rinella in California; son Bob in New Jersey; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother Bob Morse in Michigan; brother-in-law Carl Nelson in Adrian, and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman, and sisters Virginia Andreychuk and Dorothy Nelson. Mary graduated from Siena Heights College and was employed by the University of Michigan before being named City Treasurer of Adrian. After her retirement as treasurer of Lenawee Country Club, Mary moved to Midland, Mich., before settling in California where she enjoyed spending time with her family and singing in her church choir. Memorial services will be held in California and in Adrian, where she will be interred in Oakwood Cemetery on June 5. |

St. Cunegunda's in Detroit. He preceded her in death May 7, 1992., Mary lived in Bad Axe from 1986 to 2000 when she moved to Westover, Md. She was a former parishioner of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Sheridan Corners where she was an active member of the Christian Mothers and organized the annual fall craft show. She was an active member of the Bad Axe Seniors. Her hobbies included ceramics, knitting, crocheting, reading, doing crossword puzzles and baking the best pies in town. In Maryland, she was known as the "pie lady" where she took her baked goods to the farmer's market., Mary is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Marilyn White of Shelby Township, Mrs. Tom (Maryanne) White of Fort Mill, S.C., and Mrs. Grant (Rosemarie) Bryant of Westover, Md.; six grandchildren, Kristina (David) Kloc, Thomas (Amy) White II, Kerry White and special friend, Ashford Harrigan, Kelly (Mark) Kessen, Jerry (Susan) White, and Theresa (Jeff) Waldron; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Kurt and Brooke Kessen, Matthew, Emily and Jack Kloc, Emma and Julia White, and soon-to-be-born Bryce Waldron., Mary was preceded in death by one son, Jerome; and one son-in-law, Richard White., Cremation has taken place in Maryland. Nora C. Essenmacher 1904-2009 Nora C. Essenmacher, 105, Harbor Beach and formerly of Ruth, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Lakeview Extended Care Facility, Harbor Beach. She was born February 23, 1904 in Ruth to the late Joseph and Bernadina (Bischer) Wipping. She married Norman Essenmacher on November 16, 1926 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ruth. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1991. Nora attended the Sts. Peter & Paul Elementary School. She farmed with her husband. She was a lifelong parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ruth and a lifelong member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Christian Mothers. She truly enjoyed quilting. Nora is survived by one son, Clifford "Ford" (June) Essenmacher, Elyria, Ohio; one daughter, Betty Siemen, Harbor Beach; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; 19 step-great-great grandchildren and one sister, Sr. Robert Mary Wipping, R.S.M., Farmington Hills. Nora was preceded in death by four sisters, Agnes Rees, Martha Weber, Josephine Gentner and Irene Gentner; one brother, Robert Wipping. Funeral mass was held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ruth with Rev. Robert Pare officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Lakeview Extended Care Facility. Norma E. Hartman, 85, of Hillsdale, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.  She was born Feb. 11, 1924 in Belmore, Ohio to John and Elizabeth (Myers) Todd.  She was married May 3, 1947, to William “Bill” Hartman and he survives. Norma was a 1942 graduate of Leipsic High School in Ohio and worked for Hillsdale Screen Door Company from 1942 to 1952. Survivng besides her husband, Bill, are a son, Terry Hartman of Hillsdale; a sister, Doris Flickinger of Jonesville; a brother Bill (Hazel) Todd of McComb, Ohio; and many nieces and and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda in 1978; two sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services for Norma E. Hartman will be 11 a.m. Monday at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Bob Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsdale. Richard A. Megarah, age 80, of Lansing died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1928, to Arthur and Grace (Lockwood) Megarah. Richard P. Goniwiecha 1924-2009 Richard P. Goniwiecha, 85, Harbor Beach, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at his home under hospice care. He was born on January 21, 1924 in Detroit to the late John and Catherine (Pyrek) Goniwiecha. He and Jeanette Susalla were united in marriage on October 12, 1946 in Parisville. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2006. Richard was a retired Sigel Township farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Parisville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #5740 of Parisville where he belonged for nearly 63 years. Richard is survived by his children, Tom (Nancy) Goniwiecha, Harbor Beach, Ann (Albert) Depcinski, Cass City, Patti O'Neil, Harbor Beach and Michael Goniwiecha, Bad Axe; eight grandchildren, Dan, Randy (Katie) and Scott (Aimee) Goniwiecha, Andy, Steven and Heather Depcinski and Shawn and Megan O'Neil; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Goniwiecha and Mya Goniwiecha; one brother, Ray Goniwiecha, Ruth and one foster son, Bob Barrie. Ronald resided in Jonesville until 1980 before moving to Riverside. Ronald H. Wood, 75, of Osseo, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born June 18, 1933, in Red Oak, Iowa, to Donald E. and Hazel Maxine (Hossel) Wood. He was married Jan. 31, 1953, to Noreen Fuller and she survives. Ronald was a wood model maker and was retired from Allied Products. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Ronald was a breeder and trainer of running quarter horses, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Michigan Quarter Horse Association. Surviving besides his wife, Noreen, are a daughter, Donna (Jim) Howell of Jonesville; three sons, Dave (Corrina) Wood of Friendsville, Tenn., Jeffrey D. (Emily) Wood of Hillsdale and Robert (Barbara) Wood of Maryville, Tenn.; two sisters, Judy Hetzel of Garden City and Marcia (Terry) Rhodes of Canton; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Sysol/Malburg, age 81, a seven year resident of the Carson ville/Sandusky, previously a seventeen year resident of Imlay City, and formerly a longtime resident of Almont, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility. Theresa was born October 15, 1927 in Dixon City, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Alfonse and Mary Ann (Barszcz) Kazmierski. Theresa graduated from Dickson City High School, Pennsylvania in 1945. She married Thaddeus Sysol in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1970 and then married Leonard Malburg in 1978 and he preceded her in death also in 1984. Theresa retired from Ligon Bros. Manufacturing and had previously worked with Jean Gerlach at their G & S Sewing Center in Almont. She was a longtime member of St John Catholic Church in Allenton, enjoyed sewing for her family & friends, helped with the K Of C Bingo games in Imlay City and bowled as often as she could. Theresa is survived by her children; Veronica Tharp of Indianapolis, Indiana, Thaddeus and Charles Sysol of Almont, Monica (Gary) Schultz of Carsonville, Theresa Sysol of Newberry, Michigan and Sharon (Robert) Williams of Grand Rapids. Her grandchildren include; Elizabeth (Scott) Ryan, Thomas (Brandie) Schultz, Jessica (Robert) Gann, Michelle & Melissa Schultz, Melanie, Natalie and Noah Williams, great grandchildren include; Kiely Thomas, Robert Jr., Delaney Gann and Thomas, Tyler, Kaelyn Schultz. Terry Franklin Hoag, of Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Hillsdale County. He was born Aug. 30, 1953, in Coldwater, the son of Leo and Bernice (James) Hoag. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Klinck) Hoag, whom he married on Dec. 30, 1989. He is also survived by two brothers, George and Leo Hoag of Coldwater; three sisters, Judy Brenneman and Mary Kay Norton both of Coldwater, and Nina Jean Lupnitz of Lansing; two brothers-in-law, Dave Klinck of Allen, and Charlie Klinck of Hillsdale and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara McQueen. Terry served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and he was a past member of the American Legion Post in Paw Paw, Quincy and Hillsdale. He graduated from Spring Arbor College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and he retired from Consumers Energy in 2003 where he worked as an electrical sub-station operator. He also served on the board at Hospice of Hillsdale County. At his request cremation has taken place and a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Terry Franklin Hoag will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18 with Ruth Hoffman officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Thelma L. Williams, age 85, of Cement City passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Provincial House in Adrian. She was born on April 23, 1923, at Manitou Beach, to John E. and Wilena (Martin) Adams. She married Harold L. Williams on Jan. 21, 1943, in Brooklyn, Mich., and he survives. Thelma lived her early life in Alpena, Mich., then in Jackson. She then lived in the Cement City area for many years. She graduated from Cement City High School in 1941. Thelma was employed at the former Woolworth Department Store in Jackson for five years.  She was part owner of Paradise Campground in Cement City. She wintered in Haines City, Fla., for many years. Surviving besides her husband, Harold, are two sons, Terry (Linda) Williams of Clark Lake, Rick (Patti) Williams of Cement City; two daughters, Deborah (Jerry) Lowe of Manitou Beach, Karen (John) Devine of Cement City; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two step­grand­- children, two stepgreat-grandchildren;, Thelma’s care giver, Becky Metcalf of Morenci; several nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Virginia. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Drew Woods officiating. Burial will take place in Cement City Cemetery. Todd Anthony Lung, 34, of Burr Oak, Mich., passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, April 20, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1974, in Sturgis, a son to Jack A. and Joan (Krontz) Lung. Todd was a lifelong resident of Burr Oak and graduated from Burr Oak High School with the class of 1992. He was a diesel mechanic by trade. For the past four years he had been employed by G. Diamond Transport in Elkhart, Ind. Prior to joining G. Diamond he had worked for Kopf Trucking in Goshen, Ind., and his working life began with Hemels Chevrolet in Colon. Todd always enjoyed tinkering and working on cars and trucks, especially four-wheel-drive vehicles. He loved camping and climbing the dunes at Silver Lake Dunes in Michigan. He is survived by his mother, Joan Lung of Burr Oak; a brother, Jamie Lung of Burr Oak; a nephew, Shane Lung of Burr Oak; grandparents, Pat and Laura Krontz of Burr Oak; two important children in Todd’s life, Chase and Paije Harvey, both of Union City;  and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; a nephew, Michael Lung; and grandparents, Delois and Betty Lung. In accordance with Todd’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date. The Hackman Family Funeral Homes, Hackman Chapel of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial donations would be appreciated to the family, c/o Joan Lung, 122 Riverside Road, Burr Oak, MI 49030. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Vern L. Thrams, age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Zephyrhills, Fla. Vern was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Colon, Mich., He was married in June 1952, to Joan Moser and they made their home in Sturgis, where Vern was a tool and die maker for Sutton Tool Inc., retiring in 1994. Vern enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He became an avid bowler, joining several different leagues and traveling to many tournaments. Other hobbies included playing cards, attending the county fair and listening to music. An active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sturgis and later Our Savior Lutheran, Zephyrhills, Vern served as usher, teller and elder for many years. He also served on many boards and committees. Vern’s family and friends will remember him as caring and loving. He made everyone feel special by sending personal cards. Holidays were something special, including many family members and friends. His sons and grandchildren, nephews and nieces all knew they were loved and were important to him. Vern is survived by his companion of several years, Ms. Glea Anthonissen; two sons, Terry Thrams and Tim (Kim) Thrams; four grandchildren, Natalie (Bill) Mahr, Crystal Thrams, Dalton Thrams and Kayde Thrams; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Vern Thrams will be held at 11 a.m. June 27 at Southside Cemetery in Colon,  followed by a luncheon and fellowship at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 484 Burr Oak Road, Colon. The Rev. Calvin J. Kolzow, II will officiate this celebration of Vern’s life with his family and friends.   |

Wayne K. Reinke 1953-2009 Wayne K. Reinke, 56, Flint, formerly Lewisville passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Genesys Health Park in Grand Blanc following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on January 2, 1953 in Fort Hood, Texas, son of the late Ernest and Shirley (Guigar) Reinke. He married Nancy Perdue on April 21, 1979 in Redman. Wayne served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the UAW Local 598 GM Truck & Bus. He retired in October of 2008. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Reinke, Flint; son, Shane Reinke, Flint; daughter, Shannon (Wesley) Smith, Fenton; a granddaughter, Abbey Smith, Fenton; brother, Alan (Lisa) Reinke, Washington, Ind.; two sisters, Patricia (John) Prill, Bad Axe and Pamela (Jerry) Prange, Ubly; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave (Gloria) Schmaltz, Port Hope, Ron (Doris) Smith, Port Hope, Bob (Sharon) Perdue, Sterling Heights, Ernie (Debbie) Perdue, Burton, Al (Janis) Pleiness, Port Hope, Janice Perdue, Port Hope and Bill (Ellen) Perdue, Owendale; special dear niece and nephew, John and Stephanie Bauer and their daughter, Payton, Bay City; nephew, Jason Prange, Gulliver; niece, Staci Prange and friend Jake Dyhse, Kinde and two godchildren, Erica and Jessica Reinke, Washington, Ind.
