Alvin A. Fox Fowler Alvin A. Fox died Monday, September 21, 2009 at the age of 81. He was born May 4, 1928 in Fowler the son of Clemens and Martha (Motz) Fox. Alvin was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, served as a church usher for over 60 years and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a retired volunteer firefighter, worked for the Fowler CO-OP for many years and retired from Agra Sales in 1992. Alvin married Ernestine Fandel June 28, 1949 and she survives him. Also surviving are one daughter, Brenda Fox of Grand Ledge; two sons Dan (Tracy) of St. Johns and Doug (Denise) of Perrysburg, OH; eight grandchildren, Brian, Melinda, Lindsey, Trevor, Levi, Joshua, Alesha and Kayla; three sisters, Ruth (Richard) Lucas, Janet (Ray) Armbrustmacher and Kathy Kramer; four brothers, Richard (Marilyn), Leon (Susanne), George (Theresa), David (Rose). He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth; infant daughter, Cindy; parents-in-law, Herman and Hildagard Fandel; three brothers-in-law, Dennis and Bud Fandel and Mike Kramer; sister-in-law, Jean Bengel; and special aunt Mae Motz. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler with Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard as Celebrant. Andrew E. Czmer, age 91, of Manitou Beach died peacefully at home on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009. He was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Ann Arbor, to Harry and Mary (Kozar) Czmer. He married Noreen Baxter on July 25, 1942, in Adrian and she survives. Andy was the original owner of the Maumee Company, which he owned for 13 years. He was also the owner and operator of Maple City Motors and Maple City Marine. He worked at Raynor B. Snyder Realty Co. until 1972, when he opened Andrew Realty Co. Andy was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. Joseph Shrine. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Lenawee Country Club, the Lenawee County Board of Realtors and the Optimist Club. In addition to his wife, Noreen, he is survived by two sons, Dana Czmer and his wife, Ann, of Linden and Christopher Czmer of Adrian; a daughter, Candace Cultice and her husband, Gerald, of Adrian; a sister, Dorothy Mikol of Livonia; six grandchildren, Matthew and Julie Czmer, Kathleen and Frank Wray, Susan and Lukas Schrader, Paul Cox, Marcie and Dan Fletcher and Chad Czmer; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Harriet and Nell; and a brother, William. The Funeral Liturgy for Andrew will be offered on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Shrine with Father Carl Simon as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Shrine Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Onsted American Legion, Durkee-Seager Post #550. Betty A. Bowlby, 71, Hudson, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at Toledo Hospital in Toledo. She was born on May 6, 1938, in Cambria Township Hillsdale County, the daughter of Richard and Rena (Daniels) Price. Betty graduated from Jonesville High School in 1955. She married Kenneth D. Bowlby on June 26, 1955, at the First Baptist Church in Hudson. He survives. Betty retired from Waldron Industries. She enjoyed bowling, bird watching, shopping, planting flowers and especially spending time with friends and family. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Hudson. Calvin “Buck” Morgan, age 84, of Adrian passed away at his home Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009. He was born May 6, 1925, in Colgate, Okla., the youngest child of Andrew and Ethel (Eden) Morgan. On May 6, 1955, Calvin married Nora Cremeans in Ogden Center.  Buck worked as a crane operator for Stubnitz & Greene, which later became Hoover Ball Bearing, for 37 years, retiring in 1982. He was a true family man who loved spending time with his family. Buck and Nora enjoyed square dancing for many years. League bowling with his son-in-laws, playing on the Old Timers Slow Pitch Softball League, hunting, fishing and gardening were also favorite pastimes of his. Calvin was a member of the Palmyra Presbyterian Church where he was active in the Friendship Class. In addition to Nora, his wife of more than 54 years, Calvin is survived by two daughters, Patti (Ken) Kintner of Adrian and Kym (Stephen) Swendsen of Palmyra; a sister, Betty Shope of Texarkana, Texas; four grandchildren, Cassie (Don) Wilson, Carrie (Robert) Meusling, James Swendsen and Candace (Darren) Birdsall; and two great-grandsons, Gideon and Greyden Wilson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Barney and Leslie; and four sisters, Hazel, Grace, Florence and Gladys. Carlo 'Charlie' La Rocca Carlo "Charlie" La Rocca, age 72, of Caseville, formerly of Detroit, died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. Carlo was born October 14, 1936 in Detroit to the late Guiseppe and Vincenza (Piazza) La Rocca. On November 10, 1962, he married Florence C. Smith in Highland Park. Carlo, also known as Rocco at work, retired from Chrysler Detroit Forge after 31 years as an overhead crane operator. Having vacationed in Caseville for many years, he moved there permanently in 1987. Carlo enjoyed tinkering, taking things apart and putting them back together, his Italian heritage and family. Surviving are his wife, Florence; children, Jeannie (Steve) Taylor of Tenn., Agnes (Glenn) Jones of Roseville, Nancy of Tenn., Kathryn (Edwin) Caldwell of Warren, John (Connie) of Tenn., Suzanne (David) Short of Yale, Marie (Norm Jr.) Fournier of Eastpointe and Tony of Roseville; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Wayman of Redford and brother, Joseph (Patricia) of Marysville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Delores Elaine Kinney, age 76, of Constantine, passed away  Sept. 19, 2009 at her home.  Dee was born in Sturgis on May 24, 1933,  a daughter of  William and Violet (Harder) Root.  On May 2, 1953, she married Elwood Kinney in LaGrange. Ind. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Delores worked at Wade Electric and was a telephone operator in Sturgis. Later she served as a crossing guard and bus driver for Constantine Schools. Surviving are her husband, Elwood Kinney of Constantine; daughter Linda (Ron Daly) Harman of Osceola, Ind.; son,  Bradley (Barbara) Kinney of Constantine; sister Mary Stewart of LaGrange, Ind.; grandchildren Chad Kinney, Brandy Wessels, Kyle Harman, Lance Harman, Wendy Rodewald, Josh Eash, Crystal Moore, and Tyler Kinney; sisters-in-law, Thelma Root, LeRoy, Mich.; and Donna Root, Burr Oak, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob Root, Bruce Root, Dick Root, Bill Root; and sisters Emma Gilbo and Violet Root. Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine where religious services will begin at 5 p.m. Pastor David Bell will officiate. Donald E. Clark, 71, of Coldwater, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Sept, 20, 2009, after a short illness. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater, where Pastor David Pierce from the First Baptist Church will officiate. The family will begin receiving friends prior to the service at noon. Donald was born March 11, 1938 in Battle Creek, to John and Margaret (McKale) Clark. He married Alice E. Butters on June 29, 1957 in Coldwater. Mr. Clark worked at the former MT Shaw Shoe Co. in Coldwater for 20 years, and then for Lear Corp. in Mendon, retiring after 25 years of service in March 2002. Don’s favorite pastime was spending time with his wife, daughters, grand- and great-grandchildren and attending their numerous sporting events at Legg Middle and Coldwater High schools. He enjoyed spending time in the Upper Peninsula, going to the Michigan casinos and playing on the computer. Donald is survived by his loving wife Alice; daughters Teresa (Jason) Quimby of Montgomery, Kathy Jo Tanner, Debbie Platter and her friend Luke Alexander, all of Coldwater; grandchildren Jason (Kerri) Gallatin of Jackson, Leanne Gallatin and her friend Chris Traskos of Allen, Brennan Tanner of Mt. “Katie,” born Edith Katherine Ericksen, age 95, of Adrian,  formerly of Toms River, N.J, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at 2:40 p.m. at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She was born Feb. 28, 1914, in Westfield, N.J., the sixth of eight children to Christian and Ingaborg Ericksen. On May 2, 1932, she married Lester Peek in Scotch Plains, N.J. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1992.  Katie had been employed by Van Doren Laundry in Garwood, N.J., the aircraft factory during World War II in Linden, N.J., and the Plainfield, N.J., High School cafeteria as a cook. Katie is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Ann (William) Kesling of Adrian; four grandchildren, William Jr. (Debra), Jeffrey, Sr., Susan (Rick) Rogers and Thomas (Margie); and five great-grandchildren, Stacey, Jeffrey, Jr., Michael, Robert and Thomas, Jr. Cremation has taken place. She was born Eleanor Mae Truman December 30, 1922, in Newaygo, the daughter of Dora Mae (Stone) and Arthur Stanley Truman. She moved to Holland and married John Tjalma in 1969 and he preceded her in death March 2, 2002, after 32 years. She was an accountant at Holland Hitch for 25 years, retiring in 1985. After John’s death, she moved back to Newaygo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newaygo. Ethel E. Vanderpool, 88, of Hudson, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian. She was born Feb. 27, 1921 in Winnemeg, Ohio, the daughter of William and Ollie Mae (Yates) Dulaney. Ethel married Elwood F. Vanderpool April 6, 1937 in Angola, Ind. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1984. Together they owned and operated a farm, were members of Lenawee County Farm Bureau and were 4-H Club leaders. Ethel retired from Fayette Tubular Company in 1983, where she also served as chief union steward. Ethel enjoyed crocheting, making quilts and camping with the grandchildren. Ethel is survived by two daughters, Donna (Ray) Wilson of Hudson and Evelyn (Lawrence) Gray of Kissimmee, Fla.; three sons, Jack (Linda) Vanderpool of Morenci, Victor (Judy) Vanderpool and Roger (Judy) Poling all of Hudson; two daughters-in-law, Shirley Vanderpool of Morenci and Barbara Poling of Pittsford; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Vanderpool of Montgomery; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Francoise graduated from the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and American Academy of Fine Art in Chicago. She resided in the 3 Arts Club while living in Chicago, Ill. Francoise spent her life as an artist and illustrator. Besides art, her interests included pets and rescuing and caring for animals. She was a very spiritual person and once you met her, you were fond of her. She was also a very dignified woman who was proud of her Native American and French descent. |

James L. Adams, Jr., age 76‚ Centreville, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at his home. He was born in Kalamazoo on July 20, 1933, a son of James L. and Thelma (Huber) Adams Sr. Jim graduated from Centreville High School in 1952 and attended Michigan State University. On May 2, 1953, he married Marilyn Stumpf in Three Rivers. Jim served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 as a tank commander for 14 months during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Three Rivers. Jim owned and operated Adams Excavating in  Centreville for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He continued to work in the business with his son, Scott, following retirement. Jim was a member of the Centreville Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 30 years and served as a village trustee from 1966 to 1977 and from 1978 until 1986 he acted as village president on the council. Jim loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, camping and working in his yard and garden. Surviving are his wife Marilyn Adams, Centreville; daughters Becky Kurtzman of Battle Creek, Lisa (John) Youga of Centreville; sons Scott (Patti) Adams of Centreville, Mark (Gaylene) Adams of Three Rivers; brother Jerry (Rosemary) Adams of Centreville; grandchildren Alecia (Todd) Flynn, James Kurtzman, Carrisa Adams, Sam Adams, Amy Adams, Adam Johnson, Michael Youga and Lyndsey Youga; great-granddaughter Gracie Flynn; four step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Thelma (Huber) Adams Sr.; aunts and uncles. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at the Prairie River Cemetery, Centreville, at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Clint Zehr, New Covenant Christian Fellowship, Burr Oak, officiating. Janette E. Sutherland Lake Odessa Aged 82, went to be with her Lord on September 18, 2009 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, MI. Janette was born on August 6, 1927 in Sunfield, MI to Ethol and Lela (Shaffer) First. She grew up in Portland, MI, graduating with honors from Portland High School in 1945. Janette was united in marriage to Merle Sutherland on October 16, 1948, and had resided in Lake Odessa for over 60 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lake Odessa. Janette enjoyed traveling, yard sales, casino trips, and most of all her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and Merle, her husband of over 50 years. Janette is survived by her sister, Lucille (Robert) Walters; children, Sam Sutherland, and Joel (Liz) Sutherland; grandchildren, Jason, Sasha, Eric, Merwin, and Christopher; and many great grandchildren. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Joseph H. Bagnall, 89, of Onsted died late Saturday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2009, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian. Born Dec. 21, 1919, in Conneaut, Ohio, Joe was the son of Thomas and Mary Hanna (Thompson) Bagnall. He married Mildred C. Powell of Monroe in Toledo on June 7, 1941. She died Nov. 13, 1988.  He married Betty L. (Escot) Kukral of Onsted on Feb. 14, 1990. Formerly of Monroe, Joe had lived in Onsted since 1982. Prior to moving to Onsted he was employed at Monroe Steel Castings and then Union Camp, both in Monroe. Joe was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Brooklyn. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Adrian; two sons, J. David (Joy) Bagnall of Monroe, James E. (Linda) Bagnall of Monroe; two stepsons, William (Nancy) Kukral of Onsted, Joseph (Stephanie) Kukral of Long Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Sandy Bagnall of Adrian; two stepdaughters, Wanda (Ralph) Saylor of Adrian, Bonnie Kukral of Adrian; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and seven sisters; his first wife, Mildred; a son, Robert M. Bagnall in 1993; and a stepdaughter, Ida M. Dermyer of Brooklyn in 2009. June was born on Nov. 10, 1922, in Adrian, the daughter of Samuel and Nina (Donaldson) Baker. She was married on June 19, 1948, to Samuel McKown, who preceded her in death in 1965. June served as Blissfield Township Clerk for 30 years, retiring in 1996. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, Robert (Linda) McKown of Sand Lake, Mich., and Tom (Marria) McKown of Brooklyn, Mich.; two brothers, Lee Baker of Howard City, Mich., and William Baker of Brownstown, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Patrick, Katie, Ryan and Paul McKown. Kenneth L. Gray Rochester Kenneth L. Gray, age 73, of Rochester, died September 20, 2009. Kenneth was born March 15, 1936, to Leslie and Lillian Gray of Lansing. He graduated from Sexton High School in 1954. A design engineer with General Motors, he retired in 1999 after thirty-six years of service. He was Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #1409 in Warren in the 1970's and was an active member of the Older Persons Commission in Rochester. He loved bowling, golf, travel and playing with his grandkids. He was the rock of the family, a calming presence, a moral man of great integrity and will be missed by all who knew him. He was the beloved husband of Shirley, his wife of 51 years; proud father of Kenneth (Christine) Gray, Michael (Cyndi) Gray, Julie Gray and James (Jamie) Gray; adoring grandfather of Angela, Steven, Julia, Vincent, Becca, Michael, Bradley, David, James and the late Gloria; brother of Harry Gray, Clara McDaniel, Marion Olson and the late Ethel Mae Gray, Earl Gray and Evelyn Johnson. Kim Rae (Wood) Adams, 50, went home to be with her Lord, on Sept. 19, 2009, after a very, very hard and courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer. She graduated from Centreville, and is a member of the National Honor Society there. She was a cook and waitress at E&K restaurant in Centreville, and at Nic’s in Lansing, and she loved to bake, and also loved to cross-stitch. Kim was a member of Fish Lake Bible Church, Sturgis, and taught Sunday school there. She has attended Colonial Village Baptist Church in Lansing for the last six years. Kim married Roger D. Adams on Dec. 27, 1993, and had a son, Jeffrey Adams on Oct. 21, 1999, in Lansing. She is survived by her husband, Roger, and son, Jeffrey, and a step-son, Mitch (Becky) Adams and grandson of Texas, and parents, Jack and Joan (Miller) Wood of Centreville, and two brothers, David R. (Marsha) Wood of Eaton Rapids and Brian K. (Mary Ann) Wood of Warner Robins, Ga. She was preceded in death by two step-sons, Matthew Adams and Mark Adams, and both sets of grandparents and an aunt of Muskegon. Paul W. Hull Goetzville Paul W. Hull, died September 18, 2009 at his home in Goetzville, MI after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on April 14, 1944 in Muskegon, MI to James Merrill Hull and Marie Alice (Dobberstein) Hull. Paul grew up in Alma, MI and graduated from Alma High School in 1962. He served in Baumholder, Germany in the United States Army in the late 60's. For most of his working life he lived in Lansing, MI where he worked as a sheet metal journeyman in the construction industry. On June 16, 1984 he married Michele Kreisler and they continued to live in Lansing until he retired in 2005 when they moved to his beloved U.P. Paul was an avid U of M fan. Paul is survived by his wife, Michele; daughter, Alana (Jon) Barsuhn of St Joseph, MI; son, Jeff (Brandy) Kreisler of Dimondale, MI; and grandson, Jeffrey Wayne Kreisler. Paul is also survived by sisters, Mary Murray of Soldotna, AK, and Joyce Hull of McAllen, TX; and brother, John (Teresa) Hull of Mt. Vernon, MO. Paul was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother, James L. Hull; and nieces, Cheryl Murray and Agnes Hull. The family is planning a memorial party at a later date. Ramon Lopez, age 70, of Adrian passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at his home. He was born June 12, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, to Santos and Dominga Lopez. Ramon married Martha Britt on Nov. 20, 1981, in Adrian. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2002. Ramon worked as a machine operator at Tecumseh Products until his retirement in 2003. He liked to fish, watch sports on T.V., and liked to spend time with his dog, Myles, and his grandson. Ramon is survived by two sons, Fred Lopez and Ramon Lopez, both of Adrian; one daughter, Judy Lopez of Adrian; two brothers, Ascension (Esperansa) Lopez and Louis (Beatrice) Lopez, both of Adrian; two sisters Rosa Sanchez of Adrian and Anita Paiz of Texas; and one grandson, Israel. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, computer repair tech and retired from the Macomb Co. School Board in Michigan. He was a former Post Commander of the American Legion Post 4 in MI. He moved to Florida in 1998 and enjoyed playing golf in his retirement. He is preceded in death by his father, Earl R. Trombley. Ronald Holbrook Mr. Holbrook passed away on September 19, 2009, in his home surrounded by family following a battle with cancer. He was born Ronald Arthur Holbrook on October 13, 1945, to Arthur and Eva Holbrook in Detroit, MI, and subsequently spent his childhood on the beaches of St. Joseph, Ontario. On December 4, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Rosmary Bruff, and raised his family on a farm in the peaceful countryside of Webberville, MI. Ronald was a carpenter by trade, running his own business until the early 2000's, and was actively involved with his children in 4-H. After his retirement from carpentry, he became an automotive manager for Walmart of Fowlerville, MI, and worked side-by-side with his daughter in her budding pizzeria business. Preceding him in death are his parents, Arthur and Eva Holbrook. Surviving members are his wife, Sharon; his five children, Angela Robinson (Mark), Ronald Holbrook, Jr., Donna Carr (Chad), Debbie Zellen (Matthew), DeeAnna Holbrook; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Holbrook; sister, Diane Miller; and niece and nephew. He was also a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast and loved horses. On Nov. 24, 1990, he married Judy A. (Becker) and she preceded him in death in 2003. Survivors include daughters Kelly (Gordon) Thomas of Quincy and Rhonda (Nick) Langston of Hillsdale, son Bryan (Keri) Zimmerman of Hillsdale, sisters Traci Moore and Sheri Mann, brothers Mike and Kurt Zimmerman and grandchildren Lukacs, Logan and Landon Zimmerman and Jamee Thompson and Jake Langston. Tabitha Ann Stanton Born on November 28, 1991, in Hohenberg, Germany was sent to heaven to be with her Min-a-Maw and Gi-Gi Bob on September 19, 2009, in Lansing, Michigan. Tabitha was preceded in death by Delores Bryan, Judy Medlock, Eleanor and Robert Bryan, Ron Romanek and Lawrence and Janine Brown. Words cannot express how much Tabitha will be missed by her loving parents, Todd and Kathleen "Kate" Jo (DeFeyter) Stanton; siblings, Samantha and Zane; KaSandra (Aunt San) and Uncle Scott Ackley; cousin, Jacob DeFeyter. Additional family members; Uncle Ron and Aunt Patty Norman; Mark, Laura and Judy Farone; Jack, Kelly, Trae and Van Norman; Aunt Nancy Romanek; grandparents, Nancy and Emmett Hoyland, and Howard and Sherry Medlock; grandfather, Richard Stanton; Uncle Scott Stanton and cousins, Natasha, Amber and Tyler; The Fabbo Family, Marc, Vickey, Joe and Chloe; the "Hogtons", Paxton, Toby, Derek, Makenna, Parker and Karsyn Hoggard. Tabitha had just begun her senior year of high school at Potterville. She was attending CAHEP classes to pursue a career in nursing after graduating in June 2010, was Class President, fifth grade camp counselor and on homecoming court. Her precious life was taken at the tender and innocent age of 17. To know Tabitha is to love her. More than anything Tabitha loved her family and loved spending time with them. Tabitha was a daughter, sister, cousin, mother to all children and friend to everyone she met. Tabitha made life-long friends during her time playing volleyball and softball throughout the years. Heaven is a better place now that they have an angel like Tabitha. What she has shown us in 17 years takes others a lifetime to learn. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Potterville High School with Reverend Rebecca Morrison officiating. Interment will be in Benton Township Cemetery, Potterville, MI. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI. Terry V. Barnhart Eaton Rapids Born June 12, 1947 in Lansing, Michigan son of Robert and Marjory (Veelman) Barnhart, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 19, 2009. Terry was a graduate of Holt High School, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (Vietnam), was a member of the Buck Reasoner Post #238, American Legion of Holt, the 40 et 8, Chateau in Lansing and was owner/operator of Barnhart Auto Electric in Lansing for more than 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Connie Barnhart; four sons, Todd (Laurie), Bruce, Billy (Jenny), and Mike; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Emily, Dylan, Ashton, Blake, Seth, Emma, and Lucy; mother, Marjory Platte; father, Robert Barnhart; brother, Gary (Carol) Barnhart; sister, Debra (Paul) Oliver; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members along with special friends, Art, Mike, Fred and so many others. A memorial service will be held at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Wesley B. Emerson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Terry's memory may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society or the American Heart Association . |

Victor O. Spade, 89, of Adrian and formerly of Woodbridge Township, passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at the Charlotte Stephenson Manor in Adrian under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Lenawee. He was born May 11, 1920 in Ransom Township to Claude and Inez (Hill) Spade. He was married Aug. 9, 1947 to Mirabel Russell and she survives. Victor retired from Essex Wire in Hillsdale and was formerly employed at Monroe Auto Equipment.  He has resided in Adrian the past nine years and prior to that  was a lifelong resident of the Hillsdale area.  He was a member of the Frontier United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Surviving besides his wife Mirabel are two children, Douglas (JoAnn) Spade of Adrian and Dudley (Nancy) Spade of Tipton; and three grandchildren, Kyle, Sarah and Katie. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Funeral services for Victor Spade will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Donald Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Frontier Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
