ARCHIE L. DAVIS REESE Archie L. Davis, age 70 of Reese, passed away Monday, September 15, 2008 at Covenant Healthcare (Cooper Campus) after an extended illness. He was born February 11, 1938, in Deckerville to the late Floyd and Bertha (Taylor) Davis. Archie and Wanda (Wintermute) were married on July 26, 1955, in Sandusky. Archie was a life-long truck driver until his retirement several years ago and enjoyed playing euchre and shooting pool with family and friends. Archie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda; two sons, David (Pam) Davis of Reese, Greg (Brenda) Davis of Saginaw; one daughter, Connie (John) Bowerman of Deckerville and one daughter-in-law, Julie Davis of Deckerville. He will be greatly missed by his nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, on great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews that he loved spending time with. Additional survivors include an extended family of one brother, Cliff (Carol) Davis, of Deckerville; Four sisters-in-law, Shirley Darabos of Reese; Barb Taylor, Bev (Verne) Schumacher, and Ginny (Steve) Pozsgay all of Deckerville. In addition to his parents, Archie was preceded in death by a son, Stephen R. Davis, February 24, 2008; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Bulgrien. MELVIN R. HENDERSON SANDUSKY Melvin R. Henderson, age 92, of Sandusky passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Port Huron Hospital. He was born on June 10, 1916 in Sandusky the son of the late: Elroy and Iva (Starr) Henderson. He married Isabella Mae Bissett on March 5, 1941 in Sandusky. She passed away on October 7, 2002. Mr. Henderson was an avid participant in antique tractor shows. He enjoyed having his tractor in local parades. He attended Yale Presbyterian Church. He is survived by two sons: Ivan (Amy) Henderson, of Sandusky and R. Jay (Carrie) Henderson, of Sandusky. One daughter, Julie Foote and friend Jack Nielsen, of Lakeview. Seven grandchildren. Twelve great grandchildren. One brother, Harlyn (Gladys) Henderson, of Sandusky. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Henderson. Mabel L. Lehndorff Lapeer Mabel L. Lehndorff, 93, of Lapeer for many years, growing up in Rapsom, passed away Wednesday (October 1, 2008). She was born October 14, 1914, in Rapsom, to James and Mary (McFarland) Stickney. She married Alfred Lehndorff on June 12, 1950 at the family farm in Rapsom. Mrs. Lehndorff worked for the Frederick, Marysville and Lapeer school districts for 20 years. She was a teacher at Lapeer West High School in the business department. Marvin Charles Arms, Sr. Columbiaville Marvin Charles Arms, Sr., 78, of Columbiaville (formerly of Lapeer), passed away September 28, 2008. He was born March 21, 1930, in Lapeer, to Harrison and Emily C. (Smith) Arms. He married Donna Joyce Farrington on December 27, 1951 at the Liberty Street Church in Lapeer by Rev. Hemmingway. She was born February 26, 1910, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, to William and Matilda (Deibner) Waugh. She married Henry M. Meyers on June 10, 1935 in Sioux City, Iowa. Vina was a second grade teacher at West Branch Schools in West Branch, Iowa, for 35 years, retiring in 1980. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards of all kinds.
