Roth 1918-2008 "I'd like to live to ninety and then that's enough," she said many time over the years. So saying, Helen W. Roth, age 90, left for heaven on October 12, 2008 in Tawas City. She was born on February 23, 1918, the youngest daughter of the late John and Ida (Compton) Fournier of Gagetown. In 1939 she married Burton Roth and moved to a farm near Owendale. When Burton died in 1979, she moved to New Port Richey, Fla. In 2003 she returned to Michigan to be closer to her family. Teaching, first in rural schools in Huron and Tuscola counties, then in Owendale-Gagetown system, was the highlight of her life. Second graders were her favorites, she took special pride in teaching them cursive writing. In retirement in Florida, Helen loved volunteering at two thrift shops. Consequently her family received many interesting "Mother boxes." Helen maintained an active interest in current events, particularly politics. In fact during her last week of life she asked for and cast an absentee ballot.
