Angelian Geraldine Barker "Angie"

Angelian "Angie" Geraldine Barker Muir Age 88, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away into eternal life on August 7, 2009 in Haslett, Michigan. She was born March 21, 1921 in Ionia, MI, a twin daughter of Martin and Anna (Gall) Halik. On October 2, 1943, she married Florian W. Barker and together they shared 63½years of marriage until his death on April 29, 2007. Taking care of her family was Angie's true love and passion. ngie enjoyed volunteering her time over the years at Sts. Peter and Paul's rectory and school, as well as camping, playing cards with family and friends, and spending time with her twin sister, Lillian. Angie was also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Martin, and sisters, Mary, Anna, and Rose. She is survived by two children, Robert Barker of Linwood and Susan (Joseph) Scarane of Lansing; four grandchildren, Paul (Beth) Barker, Stephen (Patty) Barker, Matthew Scarane and Kristin Scarane; 3 great-grandchildren, Michael, Andrew and Nicholas; great-great-granddaughter Rylee; twin sister, Lillian Neustifter of Ionia; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Clare Bridge of Meridian and Heartland Hospice for their loving care. A Memorial Mass will be held on August 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 434 High Street, Ionia, MI with Fr. Thomas Boufford, presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Ionia, MI. Annalee M. Merideth 1923-2009 Annalee M. "Lee" Merideth, 85, Caseville, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 at home. Born in Flint on November 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Lucille M. (Miller) Jennings and graduated from Flint Northern High School. She was united in marriage to George W. Merideth in Flint on June 166, 1951. After moving from Flint, they lived for more than 25 years in Caseville. George preceded her in death on December 9, 2004. Lee was an active member of the Pigeon First United Methodist Church where she served on many committees including Administrative Board, Pastor/ Parish, Outreach and Nominating. In addition, she taught Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also served on the Zone 1 and Top-of-the-Thumb Leisure Ministries Boards. Lee helped entertain residents at Scheurer Long Term Care, as well as Country Bay Village and Country Gardens. She was also a Scheurer Hospital volunteer in the main lobby. She was a member of the Caseville Arts Council, the Caseville Christmas Fund and the Pigeon Red Hot Flashers. Lee served for years on the Caseville Village Council and the Oakwood Housing Board. Her survivors include daughter, Gail (James) Muchler, Honor; son, Darrel Merideth, Flint; two grandsons, Scott Slosser, Hale and Tim (Tina) Slosser, Herron; great-grandson, Eric Slosser; two step-grandsons, Jim (Sue) Muchler, Mesick and Tracy (Amanda) Muchler, Grass Lake and several step great-grandchildren, step great-great-grandchildren and a step great-great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis in 1977. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Pigeon First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Britt, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Caseville Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dennis G. Merideth Cancer Research Fund at Wayne State University or Pigeon First United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon.

Barbara Louise Davies Holt Born May 27, 1911 in Lansing the daughter of the late Oscar and Edith Mattice died on Friday, August 7, 2009 at the age of 98. Barbara retired from the State of Michigan Gas Tax Department, was a longtime member of Holt United Methodist Church, a former Worthy Matron of Holt Chapter #510, O.E.S., enjoyed square dancing, knitting, crocheting, and going on "Spotlight" tours. Surviving are: nieces, Arleen (Richard) Perry of East Lansing and Donna (Roscoe) Luttrell of Columbus, OH; three great nephews; four great nieces; many great-great nieces and nephews as well as two great-great-great nieces. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Davies; sister, Mary F. Smiley and brother, Paul Mattice. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Wagner officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the start of the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions in memory of Barbara L. Mrs. Haselden was born in Perry, MI on April 19, 1916, the daughter of Lumin & Vesta (Starks) Rothney. She graduated from Perry High School and MSU where she earned her teaching degree. She taught at the Dearborn public schools and also Kaleva and Armada Schools. She was a member of the Dearborn and Perry Congregational Christian Churches. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Jean Channon of Gridley, CA; sister-in-law Ethel Jane Rothney of Perry; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Catherine Nelson and brother George Rothney. There will be a private family graveside service to be held at a later date. Clarence H. Otto 1924-2009 Clarence H. "Pod" Otto, 84, Pigeon, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe. Born in Pigeon on November 5, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Lora (Gremel) Otto. Clarence graduated from Pigeon High School in 1942. On July 13, 1946 he was united in marriage to Florence M. Heiman at St. John's Lutheran Church, Berne. Pod loved watching baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers and coached little league for years. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles as a winter hobby. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting. Pod retired from the Cooperative Elevator Company in Pigeon. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Berne. In addition to his wife, Florence, to whom he had been married for more than 63 years, he is survived by a son, Wayne "Butch" (Crystal) Otto, Pigeon; two grandsons, Matt (Janet) Otto, Milwaukie, Ore. and Christopher "C.J." Otto, Saginaw; a brother, Dale (Rita)Otto, Bad Axe; a sister-in-law, Jessie Otto, Pigeon and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Otto and an infant brother; sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and William Mohr. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon with Rev. Dawn Pooley officiating. Clifford Allen Oakley

Clifford Allen Oakley Port Orange, Florida Clifford Allen Oakley passed away in Port Orange, Florida on July 18, 2009. He was born on October 5, 1944 in Stockbridge, Michigan to Orla J. Oakley and Lula Jane (Kneale) Oakley. Graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1962 and immediately enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in Okinawa and when in Rome, Italy he served his country as a security guard at the U.S. Embassy. It was in Rome that he met his future wife, Karen Marie Laroche. They were married in 1967 in Worcester, Massachusetts. When he returned home to Stockbridge in 1967, he became a deputy with the Ingham County Sheriffs Department. He served in many areas during his 28 years with the department that included working in the jail and county courts, and road patrol. He also served as a detective and local Stockbridge police officer as a Ingham County Sheriff. During a 7-year break from being a sheriff, he introduced the Dairyland Seed Company to the eastern half of Michigan. He also work for DeKalb Seed Company. Mr. Oakley graduated with a BA in Criminal Justice from Michigan State in December 1979. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Pearl Kneale; his father, Orla J. Oakley; and one brother, Charles B. Oakley. Her is survived by his wife, Karen, and three sons: Christopher and Kristie Oakley of Jackson, Michigan; John and Krista Oakley of Bellefontaine, Ohio; and Edward Oakley of Port Orange, Florida. He is also survived by his mother, Lula Jane Oakley of Mason, Michigan; a brother, Gary F. and Mary Oakley of Leota, Michigan; our "Practice Kid", Daniel Plott of Tomball, Texas, and four grandchildren, Samantha, Arielle, Ty, and Hunter. A celebration of Cliff's life will be held at Stockbridge American Legion Hall on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. If you would like to make a donation, Clifford's favorite charity was the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary Jane Orchard of Sandusky, Dorothy (Bruce) Alexander of Peck, Alice (Robert) Gredick of Florida and Debra (Russell) Bucci of Florida; twelve grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Georgia Margarite (Yuncker) Patino Holt Age 82, died August 7, 2009; born October 13, 1926 in Ionia, Michigan. Georgia was a happy, loving, and beloved wife, mother and grandmother who was dedicated to her family. She was a lifelong resident of Holt, who was the co-owner of Georgia's Drive-in and Aaron and Four Seasons Heating and Cooling. Georgia enjoyed cooking, going to the casino and being a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Patrick; daughter, Peggy; sisters, Geraldine, Betty, Dorothy and Theresa; brother, Phillip. She was born September 4, 1950, in Brown City, to Gerald and Alma (McAllister) Townsend. She married DuWayne Hammill on August 17, 1974 in Lapeer. Geri's family was very important to her. She was a high school counselor at Goodrich High School for 23 years. Geri loved her work and her kids at school. She enjoyed outdoors, horses, her flower gardens and their property up north. He was born on December 6, 1919 in Applegate, Michigan, the son of the late John and Sophia (Runk) Labor. He married Mildred A. Ball on December 5, 1947 in Wayne County, Michigan. Henry was an area farmer all of his life. He was known for his bowling for 50 years. He was a member of the Countryside Free Methodist Church, in Sandusky. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Labor; one daughter, Judy Offield of Texas; one grandson, Christian (Amy) Offield of Texas; two great grandsons, Campbell Henry Offield and Cooper Bryce Offield; one brother, Carl Labor of New Mexico; one sister, Dorothy King of Southfield, Michigan; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Amil, William and Walter Labor; two sisters, Lydia Galloway and Erma Campbell. A funeral service was held at the Hacker Funeral Parlors, Sandusky with Pastor Paul Castle of Sandusky officiating. Burial was in Elk Township Cemetery in Peck, Michigan. Harry Junior Young, age 76, of rural Three Rivers, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at his home.  He was born in Three Rivers, Mich., on Jan. 5, 1933, the son of Harry and Jessie Young.  He graduated from Centreville High School and later served in the U.S. Army. Harry was married to Marjorie Irene Bates on Feb. 25, 1956, in Angola, Ind.  She died in 1981.  Harry was employed by Continental Can Co., later known as the Fonda Group for more than 42 years.  In his spare time he enjoyed fishing.  He especially enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. Harry is survived by three children, Randy Young (Theresa) of Vandalia, Glenda Barnes (David) of Grayling, and Glenn Young of Three Rivers; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;  three sisters, Alice Kenneth, Jean Fellows (Bob) and Hazel Hagenduch (Paul); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; a sister, Virginia Truckenmiller; and a brother, Howard Young. Cremation has been conducted.  A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Family Life Center at the Corey Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Gary Carr officiating.  The family will receive friends following services in the Family Life Center.  A private interment of ashes will take place later in Poe Cemetery. Helen E. Keller 1917-2009 Helen E. Keller, 92, Caseville, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 at Scheurer Hospital, Pigeon. Born in Gaines, Genesee County on June 24, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William Nye and Eva (Utter) Judson and graduated from Gaines High School. In August 1938, she married Joseph R. Given. In November 1950, she married LaRue Keller. They have both preceded her in death. Helen worked as a nurses aid at Pontiac General Hospital from 1963-1984. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and working. She played the organ and loved all types of music, especially gospel music. She loved her ice cream and especially loved spending time with her family. Helen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Caseville. She is survived by five children, Jack (Janice) Keller, Sterling Heights, Ronald (Lisha) Given, Bay City, Robert (Patricia) Given, Caseville, Carolyn (Donald) Taylor, Brunswick, Ga. and Marilyn (Jim) Crenshaw, Caseville; 21 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cyril Judson, James Judson and Edward Judson and sister, Nellie Hewitt. Hiranush (nee Mucerret) Brown, born March 9, 1926 in Kayseri, Anatolia, Turkey, journeyed home on the wings of angels to heaven's gate on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at McGuire's - Hillsdale Community Health Center in Hillsdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Brown; her parents, Sahak and Mari Mucerret; her brother, Artin Mucerretglu; and her grandson, Christopher Moerdyke. Hiranush was a proud Armenian, a proud American citizen, a proud military wife, proud mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She valued the opportunities of education for her family even though she herself was illiterate. Hiranush faced life when Armenians were still struggling with the devastation of the genocide and came to the United States for the freedom and opportunities it would provide for her family. She survived diversity, love, marriage and children with faith and prayer. Her happiest moments were traveling in Europe and seeing her family college educated, successful and established. In her heart, she has always held the loving memories of Istanbul, Turkey, and will now dance to the Turkish music of eternal life. She will be lovingly and sadly missed by her daughters, Ruth Brown of Hillsdale and Marguerite (Roger) Moerdyke of Lowell; grandchildren Jerry (Jayme) Moerdyke, Philip (Erin) Moerdyke, Jaclyn Moerdyke; and great-grandson, Owen Charles Moerdyke. Irving Friberg of Osseo passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. He was born Oct. 6, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Abraham and Esther (Noer) Friberg. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sonia Friberg whom he married on Aug. 14, 1960. He is also survived by two children, Jeffrey Friberg of Westland, and Michelle (Timothy) Tremmel of Wauseon, Ohio; and two sisters, Rose Gottlieb of Toledo and Betty (John) Selinske of Lake Ozark, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Friberg served his country in the United States Army from 1950 through 1952. He worked for the City of Detroit and retired after 27 years of service. At his request cremation has taken place and a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Irving Friberg will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale 1 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Lester Smith officiating. James Eugene Rice, 66, passed away Thursday evening, August 6, 2009 at his home in Ann Arbor. He was born on Nov. 8, 1942, in Ann Arbor, to C. Alfred and Evelyn Rice. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1960 and the University of Michigan, where he earned undergraduate degrees in engineering, a PhD in physics, and an MBA. He married Sandra Johnson on Aug. 17, 1968. She survives. He was employed as a scientist/engineer at several Ann Arbor companies, including Bendix Aerospace, Optimetrics, KMS Systems, and, in 1991, with several colleagues started his own engineering company, Canopus Systems. Several of the systems that he worked on have been flown in various space missions.  He retired in 2000 after being diagnosed with melanoma and devoted himself to family, travel, and service on the Coldwater School Board. His melanoma returned earlier this year and he returned to Ann Arbor for treatment and hospice care. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, a daughter, Amy and husband-to-be Simon Perkins, a son David, his wife Whitney, and grandsons Broden and Zane, and a brother Philip. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert, who passed away earlier this year. Jim had a wide range of interests, especially in politics and international relations, and established the Rice Family Fund for Understanding at the Branch County Community Foundation to provide scholarships and to support other programs in this field. He owned the family farm in Girard for almost 40 years and took great interest in farm policy, water quality, and irrigation issues. Family was the most important to him, and we remember camping trips, cross-country train rides, and international travel that we did as a family. He also stayed close to his brothers and cousins and visited them often. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, at 11 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater with Dr. James Troust officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in West Girard Cemetery. She was a member of the LaGrange County Cancer Society and a volunteer at the Well-Child Clinic and the LaGrange County Hospital. Mrs. Stuckey is survived by a daughter, Pamela Stuckey of Las Cruces, N.M.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald M. “Chip” and Ellen Stuckey of Howe, and Raymond A. and Karen Stuckey of Angola, Ind.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was born on September 1, 1914 in Port Hope, daughter of the late Leo and Martha (Kennedy) Lawitzke. She married Albert A. Hass on December 26, 1938 in Port Hope. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1992. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where she had taught Sunday School classes and was actively involved with many of the churches activities and functions. She was a member of the Huron County Extension and the Michigan Retired Teachers Association. She taught school at various schools in the area ranging from a one room school to completing her teaching career with the Bad Axe Public Schools. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothea (Joseph) Carey, Brookline, Mass. and Angela (Arthur) Maringas, Cambridge, Mass.; two sons, Albert F. LELAND SMECKERT SNOVER Leland Smeckert, age 90, of Snover, passed away, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the McKenzie Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 15, 1919 in Snover, Michigan, the son of the late Gordon and Grace (Blank) Smeckert. He married Doris Idel Pierce on April 8, 1950 in Caro, Michigan. Leland was an area dairy farmer all of his life. He also sold Insurance for Sanilac Mutual Insurance Company for 50 years. He was a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church in Snover and the Snover Lions Club. Leland still lived in the same house he was born in. He is survived by his wife, Doris Smeckert; one son, Terry (Teresa) Smeckert of Allendale; one daughter, Jenell (Keith) Praay of Grand Rapids; one step-daughter, Diane Noble-Hepfer of Caro, two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great granddaughter and six step-great grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Cameron of Cass City, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Stevenson and one step-great grandson, Nicholas Noble. Funeral Services were held at the Hacker Funeral Parlors, Sandusky with Pastor David Pratt of Snover officiating. Burial was in the Moore Township Cemetery in Snover, Michigan. Lee G. Farrington 1942-2009 Lee G. Farrington, 67, Caseville, died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Huron Medical Care Facility near Bad Axe after a long illness. Lee was born May 24, 1942 in Warren, Ohio to the late Glen and Lois (Lossee) Farrington. On November 13, 1971 he married Erna Hicks in Wyandotte, together they lived in Westland while Lee worked at Montgomery Ward in auto maintenance. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. In 1997 they moved permanently to Caseville. Lee was a member of the Caseville Eagles. He enjoyed boating, fishing, reading and also listening to music. Lee is survived by his wife, Erna; step-children, Connie Green, Ypsilanti, Caren Pankow, Mt. Pleasant and Richard (Julie) Pankow, Fla; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Samantha, Cody and Jamie; sister, Ann (John) McNab, S.C. and Kathy (James) Burch, Farmington Hills; niece, Debbie (Kevin) Moore, Kalamazoo and nephew, Kevin (Becky), Colo.; and five great-nieces and nephews. Leo Matthew Fedewa

Leo Matthew Fedewa St. Johns Leo entered into eternal life on August 7, just three weeks before his 85th birthday. He was born August 28, 1924, on a farm near Westphalia in Riley Township, the son of Joseph P. and Elizabeth R. Fedewa. Leo was a devoted lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He married Alberta Theis in July 1969. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta, on October 16, 2006; his parents;his sisters, Mary Smith, Odelia Thelen and Catherine VanAcker; and brothers-in-law, Alex Vitek, Joseph Smith, Gerald Thelen, Clair Thelen and John VanAcker. Surviving are his brothers, Msgr. Sylvester L. Fedewa, Fr. Matthew J. Fedewa, James (MaryAnn), Joseph (Janice); sisters, Bernita Vitek, Margaret Thelen, and Sister Joanne Fedewa, SLW; and many nieces and nephews. Leo was employed as a finish carpenter in Lansing for a number of years, using his skills to mold wood into beautiful cabinets in many Lansing and East Lansing homes. Leo also had a backhoe business and worked on many residential homes in the Clinton County Area. He also dug graves at various cemeteries for many years. Leo farmed the land that his Grandfather Fedewa farmed for many years. In his spare time, he developed the "Valley of the Pines", which was his pride and joy. This is a 12 acre plot on which his dad pastured sheep, located along Jason Road. It was a scenic and adventurous park for friends and relatives to visit and travel on his "Valley Express" wagon for the visitors enjoyed this little paradise over a 60 minute ride over hills along thousands of pine trees, abundant flowers and many religious shrines. Leo and his loving wife enjoyed staying around home and sharing their home and the "Valley of the Pines" with people from the area. The liturgy of the resurrection of Christ will be celebrated by Msgr. Sylvester Fedewa, Fr. Matthew Fedewa, Fr. Fred Thelen (nephew) and Pastor Fr. James Conlon, at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia, MI. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. both Sunday and on Monday at St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia, MI. The Rosary will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. on Sunday and at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Leslie E. Gober Holt Age 89, passed away Friday, August 7, 2009. Leslie was born in Madison County, Mississippi on November 9, 1919, the son of Allie and Ellie Gober. Les was a retired truck driver working many years for Ogden and Moffett Trucking and W. Ford Johnson Trucking. He was also a proud veteran serving as a tank driver in W.W.II, he served his last six months of the war in a German POW camp. Les was preceded in death by his bride and love of his life of forty seven years, Phyllis. Les is survived by his loving sons, Rodney (Kathi) Gober of Williamsburg, MI and Richard (Patti) Gober of Holt, MI; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Stephanie and Pedro for their love and support, also the great staff at Flapjack's in South Lansing. Lester H. Kleen Mason Age 87, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 1, 2009. He was born January 21, 1922, in Flanagan, Illinois, to Herman and Lydia (Rewerts) Kleen. He married Nancy Ruth Cook on November 21, 1951, in St. Louis, Michigan. Lester served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Phillipines. He retired from General Motors after working 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry building, auto mechanics and farming. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Nancy; two daughters, Diane (Charles) Peirce, Karen (Art) McCleer; three grandsons, Joshua Peirce, Philip and Terence McCleer; three nephews, Ron (Nancy) Smejkal, George Smejkal, James (Carla) Kleen; and one niece, Rebecca (Bob) He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ernest and Alfred Kleen; one sister, Edna Smejkal; and a grandson, Charles Peirce, Jr. A graveside service was held August 3, 2009, at the New Haven Cemetery, with Pastor Ried Martin officiating. Linda J. Welch, 68, of Coldwater, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Aug.5, 2009 at her residence with her family at her side. She had a long battle with cancer. She was born April 14, 1941 in Battle Creek to Clifford V. and Derlene (Russell) Somers. After graduating from Foote Nursing School in Jackson as a registered nurse, she married Charles Harvey on June 30, 1962. They had three children. He preceded her in death in April 1984. While living in the Detroit area of Troy, she worked as a nurse at various hospitals and a home health agency. Upon returning to Coldwater, she worked at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and retired as an assistant director of nursing. On Oct. 27, 1989, she married Keith Welch. Survivors include her husband Keith, children Brian Harvey of Coldwater, David and Gayle (Hepker) Harvey of Coldwater, and Steve and Michele (Harvey) Lanxton of Flushing, step-children Nicki Kumfer of Colorado Springs, Colo., Denise Shively of Fremont, Ind., Brian Welch Plano of Texas, sister Diane Fales of Coldwater, nieces Gidi (Fales) Lamonte of Angola, Ind., Julie (Fales) Huen of San Antonio, Texas, nephew Craig Fales of Coldwater, grandchildren Ryan and Aaron Lanxton of Flushing, 12 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Gloria D. Somers. Linda was a member of the Lockwood Community Church, Coldwater Area Garden Club, and was a Master Gardener. She had been involved with disaster action teams of Calhoun/Branch American Red Cross, as well as a blood donor and worked the blooddrives. She also enjoyed going to classic car shows an cruises with her husband and friends. Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2009 at the Gillespie Funeral Home, Coldwater with Rev. Lois E. King, age 76, of Adrian, passed away at her home, with her loving husband by her side on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009. Lois was born Feb. 18, 1933, at home in Palmyra, the oldest daughter of Andrew and Elsie (Bohn) Bohlka. She graduated from Adrian High School with the Class of 1951. On Feb. 2, 1952, Lois married Larry King in Adrian at the parsonage of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Lois was the bookkeeper for the family business, King Tool, for many years, retiring in 1993. A faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lois was active in Tabea, LLA, LWML, the finance committee and the school board.  Family was most precious to Lois. She loved being together at the many family gatherings they shared and was a devoted fan for any activity involving her children and grandchildren. Lois also enjoyed going to the casinos and trips to Las Vegas with family and friends. In addition to Larry, her husband of more than 57 years, Lois is survived by four children, David (Diane) King, Gary King, Kevin (Cheryl) King, all of Adrian, and Kayleen (Gregg) Perez of Tecumseh; a brother, Dale (Rosemary) Bohlka of LaVerne, Calif.; two sisters, Karen (Barry) Reader of Evansville, Ind., and Diana (Bob) Hill of Adrian. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Rob) Keaton, Andrea (Jeff) Bash, Elizabeth King, Jenny King, Garrett King, Kierstyn King, and Kalynah King; and four great-grandchildren, Silas and Maren Keaton and Jeffrey and Abigail Bash. Mrs. Flynn was born on March 30, 1930, in Coldwater to Joseph and Ona (Boone) Lothamer.  On October 2, 1948, she married John J. Flynn in Marshall.  He preceded her in death on September 14, 1997. Mrs. Flynn was a home maker, and she stayed at home and raised her family on their farm.  After her children had grown up, she worked for Acorn Building Components for 15 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Union City.  Mrs. Flynn enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, watching her many humming birds, reading, and playing euchre. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a warm, generous, loving mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed. She is survived by her four daughters, Sue (Bob) Cahrier of Fort Wayne, Ind., Pamela (Fred) Woods of Ceresco, Carol (Dan) Nearpass, of Coldwater, Cathy (Randy) Combs of Tekonsha, eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Donald Lothamer, Betty Bean, Floyd Lothamer, Theresa Benjamin, Shirley Licht, and Linda Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son James Flynn, a grandson Timothy Kleinhardt, brothers Paul, Bob, Jim, David Edward and Alfred Lothamer. Mary worked for the Lapeer State Home, Bishop Kelley Catholic School and, ultimately, for the Lapeer Intermediate School District. She retired in 1986. Mary was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer. Mary Virginia DeRose Lansing At age seventy five, Mary Virginia De Rose died Friday, August 7, 2009. Born in Flushing, Michigan on April 30, 1934, Mary Virginia was the 11th child of Frank and Teresa (Spadafore) De Rose, who had immigrated to the United States from Santo Ippolito, Italy. She grew up in Eaton Rapids, Michigan where she and her brothers and sisters all worked in the very popular "De Rose Candy Kitchen". She certainly lived life to the fullest and was always known for her outgoing, easy style along with a quick and hearty laugh. Playing cards, calling bingo, love of travel and meeting people were all expressions of Mary Virginia's happy-go-lucky personality. Mary Virginia was preceded in death by: father in 1971; mother in 1978; brother, Reverend Paul J. De Rose in 1983; sisters, Mary Ann Bobko in 1987 and Pauline Herring in 1999; brother-in-law, Joseph Bobko in 1981; nephew, Joseph Massaron in 1955; niece, Patricia Ann Herring in 1973, and a very special friend, Onolee M. Ecker in 1988. Mary Virginia is survived by two brothers: John (Norma) of Lansing and Frank (Catherine) of East Lansing; three sisters, Marian Massaron of Royal Oak, Margaret J. De Rose of Okemos, and Josephine (Jack) Henderson of Dexter; also by brother-in-law Ronald Herring of Lansing and many, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. A bookkeeper for many years, she was employed by The Lear Corporation in Grand Rapids; YMCA, I.M.A. [Frank Gallagher, owner of Flint Generals], Electric Motors, St. Leo Parish, New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint; Woldumar Nature Center, Lansing. A 1953 graduate of Resurrection High School, Mary kept in touch with her classmates. She was a former member of St. Leo the Great, St. Agnes, St. Pius X and St. John Vianney Parishes in Flint, also St. Gerard Parish in Lansing. Maudie Risner, 72, of Hudson, passed away Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1937 in Salyersville, Ky, the daughter of Noah and Maxie (Rice) Bailey. Maudie married Mort J. Risner on Feb. 22, 1954 in Salyersville. He survives. They moved to Michigan in 1962, the last 25 years in Hudson. Maudie enjoyed dolls, crafts, decorating things especially at Christmas time and spending time with her family. Surviving Maudie besides her husband, Mort are their four children, Floyd (Kelly) Risner of Ridgeway, S.C., Brenda (Denny) Willoughby of Frankfort, Ky., Connie (Kevin) Ming of Hudson and Debra (John) Bilton of Hudson; daughter-in-law, Linda Risner of Pittsford; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Mann of Indiana, Thelma Cole of Kentucky; one brother, Charlie Bailey of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Risner; daughter, Glory Ann in infancy; brother, Junior Bailey; and sisters, Ethel Tibbs and Betty Williams. Norma Jean Williams, age 67, of Nottawa, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at her home. She was born in Vicksburg, Mich., on Nov. 11, 1941, a daughter of Robert and Martha (Huntington) Headley. Norma graduated from Centreville Public Schools. She married Richard C. “Buzz” Williams on July 26, 1959, and she was so proud to have just celebrated their 50th anniversary. Norma worked as a housekeeper at Keystone Place for 10 years, retiring in 2006. She previously volunteered at the Community Action Agency for five years. Norma was a member of the React Club helping to find lost children at the county fair, the Three Rivers CB Club and the St. Joseph County Saddle Club. She served as parade chairman for three years, Nottawa Township Constable, Cub Scout leader and Sunday school teacher. Norma also helped establish Pee Wee baseball in Centreville and was the Nottawa news reporter for the Sturgis Journal. Surviving are her husband, Richard C. “Buzz” Williams; sons, Richard M. Williams of Nottawa, Robert G. (Karen) Williams of Sturgis, Raymond C. Williams of Nottawa, and Roger A. Williams of Nottawa; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Headley of Three Rivers; and several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronald Lee Headley; and a nephew, Randy Williams. She specialized in homemade pies. Her hobbies were gardening, outside flowers, and playing bingo. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Marlene Fagan of Carsonville, Rita (Jerry) Miller of Lapeer, Sharon Shanley of Applegate; one son, Gary Rothwell of Peck; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Patrick A. Dell 1930-2009 Patrick A. Dell, 79, Caseville, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Genesys Medical Center in Grand Blanc following a long illness. Pat was born January 27, 1930 in Highland Park to the late Brian and Stella (Brandimore) Dell. On July 20, 1957, he married Barbara Ann Himmel of Caseville at St. Roch Church. He grew up in Detroit and graduated from Lincoln High School. In 1950, he moved to Caseville. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. After leaving the service in 1953, he returned to work as a welder in Owendale and then was hired as the first employee at Pigeon Manufacturing, retiring in 1989. In 1962, he won a Ford Falcon Wagon in a national car give-away sponsored by Ford. He was a member of the Caseville American Legion. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things around the house, fishing, flying remote control planes, and most of all, making people laugh and enjoying the company of his family and friends. He issurvived by his wife, Barbara; children, Tamera (Cliff) Cook and Rick and Brice, all of Caseville. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Brian and sisters, Shirley Wilding and Gay Ann Wilcox. Funeral mass was held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial with military honors took place in St. Roch Cemetery. Peter was a University Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Chemistry and an internationally recognized researcher in Photochemistry. Robert Glen Lego, age 85‚ Constantine, passed away Aug. 6, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Chicago, on Feb. 21, 1924, a son of Hal Glenn and Thelma (Herrick) Lego. Robert served in the U.S. Navy for four years and the U.S. Army for two years during World War II. On July 21, 1960, he married Wilda Lucille Bauman in Three Rivers. She preceded him in death March 29, 1994. He worked as a electrician at Elkhart Products retiring in 1992 and previously at Continental Can in Three Rivers. Robert was loved by all who met him and lived a full and happy life to the end. There are no words to describe his warm and loving personality. He was truly one of a kind who was always willing to lend a ear or shoulder to anyone. He will be missed dearly and always remembered.‚ Surviving are his daughters, Joy (Thomas) Bussard of Three Rivers and Chellcee (Jamie) Robinson of Constantine; sister, Dorothy Plank of Constantine; four grandchildren, Cody and Kailyn Cookson and Shawn and Natasha Bussard; two great-grandchildren, Jonathon Henry and Ethan Bussard. Steven loved his family, and enjoyed his work selling lubricants and racing fuel for Corrigan Oil.  He was a great fan of car racing, officiating for the sanctioning bodies of midget and sprint cars, watching NASCAR, and rooting for his favorite, Mark Martin.  Steve was a lifetime member of the Hillsdale Conservation Club, serving as president for several years during the building of the present club facility. Besides his wife Cheryl, he is survived by a son, Geoffrey (Kristie) Paul of Round Lake, Ill.,; daughter, Andrea Paul of Hillsdale; a sister, Mary Paul of Hillsdale; a brother-in-law, John (Laura) Perrin of Hillsdale; a sister-in-law, Judi (Larry) Rice of Litchfield; four grandchildren, Brenden, Gillian, Zoe and Aubrey; a niece, Tami (Fred) Garcia; and three nephews,Christopher Rice, Josh and Dustin Perrin. Virgil D. Davis

Virgil D. Davis Charlotte Age 80, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009. Virgil was born February 25, 1929 in Charlotte, the son of Frank and Bernice (Perkins) Davis and was a lifelong Charlotte resident. He was a 1946 Graduate of Charlotte High School, had been employed as a truck driver for the Michigan Welding Supply Co. and was a member of the Teamsters. He enjoyed family, travel, camping, music, sports, technology, sketching, fishing, cards and the Detroit Tigers. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Carpenter) Davis; sons, Michael (Nancy) Davis of Coldwater, Greg (Debra) Davis of Sargent, TX and Mark (Chris) Davis of Vicksburg, MI; daughter, Jodi (Jeremy) Brace of Charlotte; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Maxine) Davis of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Debbie Davis of Muskegon; and sister-in-law, Sally Davis of Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Bob Davis; and sister-in-law, Roseanne Davis. At Virgil's request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of Memorial Services at the Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be in the Lee Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the March of Dimes or the Disabled American Veterans. Virgil's loving nature, humor and wit will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Zachari Rohr, 12, of Morenci passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at home. He was born on Jan. 13, 1997, in Adrian, the son of Jeremy and Christina (Somerlott) Rohr. Zachari was going to be in the sixth grade at the Morenci Middle School this coming school year. Surviving Zachari is his mother, Tina Rohr, of Morenci; two brothers, Austin and Ryan; maternal grandparents, Carl and Cindy Somerlott, of Santa Claus, Ind.; paternal grandparents, Vincent and Sue Rohr, of Morenci; maternal great-grandparents, Richard and Jeanne Somerlott, of Santa Claus, Ind., and Janet and Russ Salamin of Hudson; and best friend, Gage Miles. Zachari was preceded in death by his father, Jeremy. Funeral service will be on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Morenci Church of The Nazarene with the Rev. Dennis Owens officiating.  Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. There will be a visitation on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Rohr Family Trust Fund set up at the United Bank & Trust in Morenci.
