Kiani JeNee Rodgers Our precious rose, Kiani JeNee Rodgers, was planted on earth Saturday, October 24, 1987, and on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, the Master Gardener, God, planted her back in heaven. She was beautiful in life for everyone to enjoy her presence inside as well as outside. Our lives were made richer by her gentle sweetness, smile, and loving kindness. Kiani was given by doctors 7 days to bless us; however, God had another plan to let His rose grow for 23 wonderful years. Kiani loved celebrating life with family gatherings for any and every occasion. She attended Lansing School District, upon graduating in 2005, attended LCC for a short time, and worked for Peckham Inc. for a year. Kiani was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church all of her precious life. She praised God in her own special way and loved Him with everything she had. She was very involved in the ministries in the church at a very early age: Sunday School, Bible Study, Voices of Deliverance, Nursery, Multi Media, God Creation Dance Ministry, Dynamic Praise Choir, and Cross 24-7. She was the visionary for the Mime-N-Motion Ministry. Kiani's love for music and dance was her joy. Her one desire was to be a cheerleader, now that desire has come true. She is cheering for Jesus and dancing for God. Kiani was preceded in death by a grandfather, Joe Frank Walker, and brother, Dane Ivan Griffin. Kiani leaves wonderful memories to her family: father, Ivan, mother, Diane, and sister and best friend, Ivanna of Lansing, MI, brothers, Shaun of Ypsilanti, MI, and Cameron (Kifara) of Lansing; great-grandmother, Gloria McKinstry of Lansing; grandparents, Sammie Rodgers, Sr., Zelma Rodgers, Juanita Lykes, and Julius (Dorothy) Lykes of Lansing; nieces, Kierra of Lansing and Jazmine of Chicago; nephew, Jeremiah of Ypsilanti; best friend since elementary, LaKrystale Turner of Lansing; her true love, Adam Dungey of Lansing; and a wealth of loving uncles, aunts, cousins, godparents, godmothers, godbrothers and godsisters, special friends and church family. Friends may visit Ms. Rodgers Thursday, January 6, 12-9 pm, at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 12:00 pm, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 5200 Pleasant Grove Rd., with Pastor Walter Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kiani Rodgers Scholarship Fund that has been established in her memory.
