Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Ameen will be remembered for changing the look of photography by capturing the powerful faces of everyday people in a compelling way. He will also be remembered for his charisma and the way he touched people on a personal level. At the time of his death, Ameen was working on a book, a 40-year retrospective of his photography in Detroit. A memorial for Ameen will be held on Friday, October 8, 5-9 p.m. at his studio. Marguerite Hill Battle Creek Marguerite Hill, 89, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born October 23, 1921 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Sam and Amalia (Approbato) Ripoli. Marguerite attended St. Philip High School and worked at Percy Jones Hospital during WWII. After the war, she owned and operated Vets Corner Grocery with her husband, Murphy on Goguac Street for 25 years. Marguerite began selling real estate in June of 1956 and was a well-respected Realtor in the area for 54 years receiving the Realtor Emeritus Award. She has been a member of the Battle Creek Area Association of Realtors since 1958 and was one of the first female realtors on the board. Marguerite was one of the handful who paved the way for women in real estate in the Battle Creek area. She was also a charter member of the Rental Property Owners Association. On August 13, 1940 she was married to Murphy A. Hill, who preceded her in death on November 9, 1973. She was also preceded by her parents, three sisters: Mary Ripoli, Elizabeth Cygan and Virginia Ripoli; and three brothers: Louis A. Ripoli, Vincent F. Ripoli and Carl Joseph Ripoli. Surviving is her daughter: Trena Marie Hill and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church with Rev. Father Charles H. Fischer officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m.

The oldest of five children, Rob loved to spend summers up north with family and friends. Summers were spent fishing and roaming the woods and fields of our beautiful state. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa. Sandra Ann "Sandy" Blowers Battle Creek Sandra Ann "Sandy" Blowers, age 56, died Wednesday evening, January 5, 2011, at Battle Creek Health Systems, following a brief illness. Sandy was born on January 14, 1954 in Battle Creek and was lifetime area resident. She was the daughter of Darold and Shirley (Wallace) Dukeman. Sandy had been a nurse's aide at Dosca Home, which is now Care Community of Battle Creek. She enjoyed computers, making afghans, doodle art and her cats. On July 3, 1982 in Battle Creek, Sandy was united in marriage to Roland K. Blowers and he survives. Also surviving are three step-children, Nanlee Blowers of Girard, MI, Matthew Blowers of Battle Creek and Norman Blowers of FL; a step-grandchild; her brother, Michael D. Dukemen of Battle Creek and her nephew, Ryan M. Dukeman of Battle Creek. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents. Von Duane Smith East Leroy Von Duane Smith, 68, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011. He was born July 2, 1942 in Branch County, Michigan the son of Ray and Anna (Johnson) Smith. Von was a 1960 graduate of Athens High School and served in the, as an M.P. from 1960 to 1964. For over 20 years he worked at Clark Equipment Company and later drove truck for many years until his retirement. Von loved auto racing, riding motorcycles and mechanic work of all types. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all loved spending time with his family and dogs. On July 13, 1963 he was married to Rebecca "Becky" (Kreps) in Glasgow, Montana while serving in the Air Force. Von was preceded in death by his wife on April 3, 1997, his parents and sisters: Myrtle McSherry, Lois Burkhardt and infant twin sisters. Surviving are three children: Rodney (Tammy) Smith of East Leroy, Raeann (Bob) McIntosh of Athens and Rhonda (Jeff) Alexander of Fulton; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers: Ken (Rita) Smith of Ceresco, Lynn (Joyce) Smith of East Leroy and Lloyd (Margaret) Smith of Sherwood; two sisters: Louise Ives of East Leroy and Lyla Smith of Girard; many nieces and nephews.
