William 'Billy' Robert Hatchett, Jr. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 10:00 AM - GateHouse Media, Inc. |
William “Billy” Robert  Hatchett, Jr., age 39, of Lowell, formerly of Tecumseh, passed away unexpectedly early morning Jan. 10, 2010, as a result of a snowmobile accident. Billy was born May 16, 1970, in Brunswick, Maine. He was the cherished and devoted son of William and Rose Anne (Hickey) Hatchett.  In July 2005, he married Katie Hawk. He was a 1988 graduate of Tecumseh High School and completed two years of college. He was a licensed and talented carpenter who loved the planning, creativity and design of his work.  In his words, “being a builder offers a creative release that I crave.” To quote a friend, “Bill Hatchett will work till he bleeds and then work some more.” Many people have experienced his generosity and compassion. Billy’s friends are numerous and lifelong — his commitment to family and friends was boundless. He lived life with enthusiasm and his passions were many: family, friends, music, dancing, Newfoundland heritage, boating, snowmobiling, animals, Michigan football and most of all he treasured his Mom. Besides his wife, Katie, he is survived by his mother, Rose Anne Hatchett; sisters, Jani (Matt) Cooke and their children, Lincoln, Keenan and Piper Rose; Amy (John) Rotche and their children, Payton and Quinn; many aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Each cousin had a special place in his heart. Also surviving are his father- and mother-in-law, Denny and Linda Hawk; sister-in-law, Kirsten (Matt) Lahti and their daughter, Sienna; brother-in-law, Dusty (Marianne) Hawk and their sons, Dethan and Eli. His absence will be immensely felt by his nieces and nephews.  Billy has joined his father, William Robert Hatchett, Sr., in God’s arms. We ask God to send his angels to happily take him into eternity. Billy’s presence in this world will be deeply missed. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, with Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. A Vigil Prayer service will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 506 N. Union St., Tecumseh. Services will also be held in Lowell at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, with the Rev. Dean Bailey officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 13, at the Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson St., Lowell. Condolences to the family may be made at www.pursefuneralhome.com.   |
