Preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane McCracken. Bill served 14 years as a Pontiac Police detective and owned/operated Acme Vending Company. For over 20 years he enjoyed announcing Clarkston High School football and basketball games. He volunteered with Clarkston Athletic Boosters, was instrumental starting Clarkston Chiefs little league football and coached little league baseball for many years. He was former president of Clarkston Rotary, having received the Paul Harris Award. Bill was a talented photographer. Due to family traveling from overseas, services will be postponed. Budd “Butch” John Burns, age 50, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away on Jan. 3, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 5, 1959. After graduating from Adrian High School, he moved to Nevada. He was a member of the Painters Union and a Deacon in his church. He will be sorely missed by his loving family and friends. Clarence M. Burger, age 88, of the Irish Hills, passed away Jan. 15, 2010. Clarence was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Detroit, the son of George and Jessie (Faitel) Burger. On Aug. 24, 1943, he married Viola Briske in Tulsa, Okla. She preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2009. Clarence was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving during World War II. He and his wife, Viola, for 20 years were the owners of the DoNoHop doughnut shop on  U.S. 12. His hobbies were many: miniature steam engine building, winemaking, gardening and watching John Wayne movies. Clarence was an active member of St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church. Surviving Clarence are his children, Diana Tyler and Thomas Burger; daughter-in-law, Nancy Burger; brothers, Roland (Joyce) Burger, Ben (Carla) Burger and Fran (Loveda) Burger; sisters, Loretta Partlo and Bernice (Joe) Mochal; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Viola, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Theodore; sister, Marie; and son-in-law, Donald Tyler. Clarence W. Fosbender, 84, of Hillsdale, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2010.  He was born May 14, 1925, in Hillsdale to William C. and Ethel (Calkins) Fosbender.  He was married May 20, 1950, to Dorothy J. Sammons and she preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2004. Clarence was a graduate of Hillsdale High School.  He retired from Hillsdale Tool & Manufacturing after 37 years and served for 17 years with Hillsdale County Emergency Services.  Clarence was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the European Theater, and was wounded at Forbach, France. He was a lifetime member of the 70th Infantry Division Association, a charter member of the Baw Beese Chiefs, Chapter 54, National Campers and Hikers, serving as a field director.  He was also a member of Hillsdale American Legion, Hillsdale Men’s Bowling Association, and White Oaks Men’s Monday Morning Golf League. Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette (William) Malinchok of Hillsdale and Barbara (David) Lantrip of Charlotte; a son, Mark Alan Fosbender of Hillsdale;  seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Memorial services for Clarence Fosbender  will be 11 a.m., Saturday at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with the Rev. Les Smith officiating.  Interment will take place at a later date at Frontier Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service  Saturday at the funeral home. Connie Jo Kline, age 48, of 7136 Tannery Road, Two Rivers, died Friday evening, Jan. 8, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center, in Two Rivers, Manitowoc County, Wis., surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born on July 25, 1961, in Constantine, daughter of Lyle and Sherrill Kline. She graduated from Rebekah Christian School in Corpus Christi, Texas. Connie met William Adolpho Jr., and they were to be married soon. She has worked for the Herald Times Reporter and the Lakeshore Chronicle delivering papers for 25 years. Connie was an avid Packer fan, loved and collected angels, enjoyed driving around and listening to WIXX on the radio, loved her umbrella cockatoo Sammy and her dogs Angelic and Paôele, and especially enjoyed the time that she was able to spend with her family and friends. Connie is survived by one son, Justin Zabler, Manitowoc; her parents, Lyle and Sherrill Kline, Constantine; her grandmother, Blanche Kline, White Pigeon; two brothers and one sisters-in-law, Randy Kline, Constantine, Mike and Kathy Kline, Constantine; one sister and one brothers-in-law, Chris and Jon Hamminga, Constantine; fiance, Bill Adolpho, Two Rivers, Wis.; her fiance Bill’s parents, William Sr. and Diana Adolpho, Fremont, Calif.; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Daniel Andrew Jividen, 43, of Camden, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at home.  He was born April 6, 1966, in Trenton, Mich., the son of Ronald and Esther (Gyorke) Jividen. He had been employed as a trucking dispatcher for Daily Bread Co. in Fremont Ind., and had also worked at Simpson Industries in Fremont.  Daniel belonged to New Hope United Brethren Church and enjoyed playing ball in the Waldron Softball League.  He was also an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Carrie (Bailey) Jividen, whom he married March 5, 1994; a daughter, Jessa Jividen, Camden; a son Jacob Jividen, Camden; a sister Kelley (Kevin) Bednarek, Norwalk, Ohio. Denise Loretta Smith, 47, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 13, 2010, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born May 15, 1962 in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Russell and Betty (Johnson) Rice. Denise’s early life to the age of 5 was lived in Sturgis. At that time the family moved to Arizona, where she resided until 1976, when she returned to Sturgis. On April 12, 1980, she married Tommy Smith in Sturgis. Most of her working life was in the recreational vehicle industry and she was a homemaker. She had a real love for the state of Arizona and San Diego, California. Denise enjoyed reading, collecting bears, eating chocolate and drinking milk. She is survived by her loving husband, Tommy; a daughter, Felicia (Shawn) Ross of Middlebury, Ind.; a son, Tommy (Malandra) Smith Jr. of Sturgis; two grandchildren, Austin and Makenzie; two sisters, Debbie Shadix of Sturgis and Darlene (Ron) Danberry of Colon; a brother, Dwight (JoAnn) Rice of Sturgis; special friends Joe and Marcy Biron of Mendon; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at New Beginnings Church, 63022 M-66, Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Denise Smith will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Randy Evans will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Pretty Prairie Cemetery in Howe, Ind. Don Ray Wallace (Frank Lloyd Wilson) passed away on Jan. 9, 2010, in Scurry, Texas; former resident of Waldron.  Born Frank Lloyd and later changing his name to Don Ray, he was born on May 10, 1916, in Oklahoma. Don was the third of six children born to Frank Dale Wilson and Ora Ethel Cisco. In addition to his parents, Don is surpassed in death by his wives, Irma Elizabeth (Smith) and Matilda (Winekoff); an infant daughter, Connie JoAnn Wallace; and siblings Genevive, Perry, and Leo Wilson. Don is survived by his present wife of 13 years, Mary (Stanglin); siblings, Ruth V. and Frankie D.; children, Glen (Cleo), Lyle (Arlene), Lee (Kay), Carol Singer, James (RuthAnn), and Robert (Annette); as well as multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris I. Cord, 94, of   Spring Hill, Fla., and formerly of LaGrange, Ind., died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010. She was born April 26, 1915, in LaGrange, a daughter of John and Katie (Grove) McElhenie. On June 5, 1944, she married Edward M. Cord in Fort Wayne, Ind.  He preceeded her in death April 4, 2007.   Doris was employed at Fremens — General Tubes in Sturgis before retiring.  She was a life member of the DAV & VFW. Gailord Don Schrock, 88, of Constantine, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Three Rivers Health Hospice. He was born Sept. 6, 1921, in White Pigeon, a son of Clarence and Gladys (Hathaway) Schrock. He had been a Constantine area resident since 1970, coming from White Pigeon and Mottville Township. He was a 1939 graduate of White Pigeon High School. On Nov. 27, 1964, he married Dorthy V. Hull. He was employed at Willow Run B-24 bomber plant during World War II and at White Pigeon Paper Mill for 40 years, retiring in 1983. He was also a farmer and owner-operator of the Indian Prairie Motel in White Pigeon. He enjoyed golf, bowling, yard work and gardening, but most of all his family. He spent winters in Florida and in 2005 drove from Constantine to Alaska with his son. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy V. Schrock of Constantine; two sons, Donald (Donna) Schrock of Constantine and Dennis (Sara) Schrock of Martinsville, Ind.; two daughters, Jody (Jeff) Komis of Union and Gail (Gary) LeVan of Constantine; a stepdaughter, Frances (Jamie) Rohrbacher of Catawba, N.C.; a stepson, Robert (Judy) Wolgamood Jr. of Constantine; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gerald “Jerry” Griewahn, age 70, of Hudson, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born on Oct. 13, 1939, in Adrian, the son of Paul and Eva (Catlin) Griewahn. He married Pearle Sneary on Jan. 26, 1963, and she survives. Jerry managed Adrian Hardware for a number of years until retiring in 2001. He was a member of the “Bits & Pieces” flying club and enjoyed building and operating radio-controlled cars, planes and boats. Jerry also enjoyed fishing, casino hopping and making “deals” wherever he went. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by one son, Gerald Jr. “Butch” (Kim) Griewahn of Addison; three daughters, Sherie (Rod) Moore of Tecumseh, Lynne Partridge of Addison and Jackie (Tim) Yeary of Tecumseh; one brother, Chub (Bea) Griewahn of Jasper; five sisters, Velma Setzler of Blissfield, Helen Borders of Adrian, Eva (Jim) Moore of Adrian, Dottie Bender of Fairfield and Betty Sluder of Adrian; one sister-in-law, Arlene Griewahn of Adrian; eight grandchildren, Brock, USMC Sgt. James F. Johnson James F. Johnson, affectionately known as "Butter", age 96, of Mount Clemens, died January 12, 2010, at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center. He was born February 22, 1913, in Crofton, Kentucky. Mr. Johnson was a World War II Army veteran. James was a member of the first black baseball team in the city of Mount Clemens in 1948, the Mount Clemens Giants. He retired from General Motors after more than 30 years of employment. He is survived by his daughters, Mattie and Carolyn; two sons, Russell and Joey; nine grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. John F. Niepokuj John F. Niepokuj, age 79 of Warren, died Friday, January 15, 2010. John was raised in Detroit and graduated from St. Stanislaus Catholic High School. He would later serve his country during the Korean War. After his military service Mr. Niepokuj returned to Detroit and his job at General Motors Fisher Body. He would retire from General Motors as a production scheduling analyst. Mr. Niepokuj was the beloved husband of Dorothy, and the dearest father of Mary Niepokuj (Roger Scott) and Nancy A. Niepokuj. He is also the loving grandfather of Alex, Mary, William, Russell, Claire, and dear brother of Mitchell (Carol) Niepokuj. LaVern M. Farrell, 78, of Pittsford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at home under the loving care of his wife and daughters. He was born April 21, 1931, in Lenawee County, to Harold and Marjorie (Ikle) Farrell. He was married Feb. 1, 1951, to Stevania “Stevie” (Francis) Farrell and she survives. LaVern and Stevie co-owned and operated Pittsford Block, Inc. established in 1953. He served on the Pittsford-Jefferson Fire Department 38 years and was assistant chief under Asher Scott. He served on the Leonardson Cemetery Board and was on the Board of Directors of the Pittsford Branch of Southern Michigan Bank. He enjoyed hunting. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a devoted family man. LaVern was full of life and if he picked on you, you knew he liked you. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Stevie; two daughters, Melodye (David) Barron and Truley (Mokey) Grabowski; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, sister and an infant grandson. Funeral services for LaVern Farrell will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with pastors Sam Wickard and Douglas Plunkett officiating. Interment will follow at the Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford. The family will receive friends for visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. She passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 66. She graduated from Morton, Ill., High School in 1961. Following graduation from high school, Kay attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria and graduated in 1964, with her degree as a registered nurse. On Dec. 20, 1964, Kay was united in marriage to James J. Roberts in Morton. In 1965, the couple moved to Estherville to make their home and Kay was employed at the Estherville Medical Center and Holy Family Hospital for 22 years working in various departments as an RN. She also worked 10 years in Hospice and the Home Health Department. She spent 10 years in the Employee Health and Wellness Department of the hospital. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville; the Estherville Garden Club; Northstar Quilt Guild; American Cancer Society Relay For Life Committee; Luminary Chairperson; and facilitated Estherville Area Cancer Support Group for a number of years. Left to cherish Kay's memory are her husband, James of Estherville; her children, David James Roberts and his wife, Lenea, of Sturgis and their sons, Damian, Joshua and Jesse; Jeffrey Joseph Roberts of Estherville and sons, Jordan and Jaden Roberts; siblings Janice Kaufman and her husband, Jack, of Rochester, N.Y.; Kenneth M. Grimm and his wife, Peg, of Windham, Vt., and their children, Jenna, Nicole, Amanda and Rachel; sister-in-law Betty Adams and her husband, Bill, of Blue Springs, Mo., and their children, Peggy Smith, Doug Nolte and Mark Nolte. Kay has been preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; and aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Avera Holy Family Hospice; Emmet County Relay For Life; Estherville Garden Club or Estherville Public Library. Born March 17, 1922, in Quincy, the son of Carleton Homer and Genevieve Pease Andrews, died Jan. 4, 2010, in Austin, Texas.  Robert’s residences were in Portage, Mich.,  and Tequesta, Fla. His education included a B.A. from Hillsdale College where he was a member of ATO fraternity.  He received his M.A. in music from the University of Michigan. Robert served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945.  He achieved the rank of Lt. J.G. and was a seaplane pilot in the Pacific Theater. In 1980 he married Joanne Pullon Bartoo who survives.  Other survivors include: son Scott W. (Kathy) Andrews of Mattawan, a daughter Anne Andrews (Danne) Buchanan of Salt Lake City, Utah, grandson Bradley M. Andrews of Mattawan, granddaughters Kristina Andrews (Eric) Berry of Angola, Indiana, Brittany and Elizabeth Bailey Terhune of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ethelee Andrews Fox and a brother Thurlo Andrews. Bob was a beloved teacher and band director at Milwood Jr. High for over 30 years.  He also owned an ice cream concessions business which he operated at fairs and celebrations. Bob attended both the First United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo and the First United Methodist Church in Tequesta-Jupiter, Fla. Ruth E. Pitts, 86, of Coldwater, died on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, just three days after the passing of her husband, Raymond E. Pitts. A private family service will be held today. Arrangements are being cared for by the Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Interment of ashes will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. Ruth was born on Feb. 23, 1923 in Raisin Township, Adrian, to Lawrence and Lucy (Wilkinson) Gallaway. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1941 and went on to Cleary College to study business, graduating in 1942. Following graduation, Ruth lived and worked in New Orleans, Chicago and Dallas. One of her early jobs of note was with a fledgling automobile company called Tucker Motor Car Company in Ypsilanti. In 1951, she began dating her future husband, Ray, and moved to Hillsdale to work for the Board of Public Works. On May 28, 1952, Ruth and Ray were married in Hillsdale. Ruth spent the majority of her life in Coldwater as a homemaker.  She volunteered at the Jefferson Elementary School wherever she was needed and served as a room monitor, bringing cupcakes, ice cream and treats to the classrooms.  She was a member of the CHC Auxiliary and volunteered for many years.  She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Coldwater, serving two years as financial secretary.  She enjoyed playing Bridge in several clubs for many years.   Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. Ruth was preceded in death by her son Steven C. Pitts in 2003; husband Raymond; her parents; and sisters Phyllis Payne, Roberta Harms, Janet Nelson and Ethyl Louise Richards. Ruth is survived by her daughters Jane (Ronald) Smith of Freesoil and Joan (Richard) Sherman of Coldwater; brother Richard (Gloria) Gallaway of Adrian; sister Elizabeth (Milo) Bishop of Florida; grandchildren Michelle (Andy) DeWitt of Lowell, and Eric and Christopher Sherman and Karlen and Kasey Pitts, all of Coldwater; great-grandchildren Easton and Payton DeWitt and Allison Sherman. Sue Ann Scharp, of Kalamazoo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at her home. Sue was born Oct. 18, 1945, in Hillsdale, a daughter of Henry and Flossie (Emrich) Fansler. She graduated from North Adams High School in 1963 and later graduated with honors from Western Michigan University in 1982 with a teaching degree. Sue taught school at Otsego Baptist Academy in Otsego, from 1986 to 1996 when she retired. Sue was an active member of the Berean Baptist Church in Portage, Mich., where she was very involved in children’s ministries, choir and taught ladies Bible studies. Sue was preceded in death by her father Henry Fansler in 2005. On July 17, 1965, Sue was married in Hillsdale to Larry J. Scharp, who survives. Also surviving are a son Brian (Jennifer) Scharp of Grand Rapids and a daughter Sheri (Matt) Puett of Rockford; four grandchildren, Sarah, Aaron, Joshua and Kelsie; her mother, Flossie Fansler of Portage and a sister Carol Jensen of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 South 12th St. with Pastor Bill Abernathy and Pastor Steve Nichols officiating. Interment in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Tom Caves, 78, of Venice, Florida, passed away Jan. 6, 2010. He was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio. He was a former resident of Dearborn and Jonesville, spending his retirement in Venice, Florida. In 1952 he married Margaret who preceded him in death in 1994. Tom married Christine Flowers on March 9, 1996. Tom was a member of the Venice Church of the Nazarene and was active on various committees. He loved serving the Lord. He taught Sunday school classes in Dearborn and Hillsdale. He also was active on his Homeowners Association Board. He was an avid reader and loved communicating with friends and family on his computer. He was a kind, quiet, intelligent gentleman, with a great sense of humor and was loved by all his contacts. He is survived by his wife, Christine; daughters, Susan (Don) Backing and Kim (Dave) Youngblood; a stepdaughter, Pamela (Brian) Babbitt and a step-son, Jody (Laurel) Flowers. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. HOWARD, VIOLA; age 80; passed away Monday, January 11, 2010; at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland. She leaves to cherish her memory, spouse, James Howard; children, Barbara Ann and Betty J. Howard, Thomas Broner, Matthew Howard, Jerome and Gary Paris; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her children, Emma Jean Metoyer, Eddie James Howard, and James Daniel Howard, and Darrel Pitman. Vicki J. Cowan, age 58, of Sturgis went to be with her Lord and savior Monday afternoon Jan. 11, 2010, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born July 22, 1951, in Sturgis, a daughter to the late Elwyn Herald and Naomi (Rumbaugh) Lego. Vicki was a lifelong resident of Sturgis. On Oct. 6, 1968, she married Holton Francis Cowan Jr. in Sturgis. She had been employed as a cashier for several years at Harding’s East in Sturgis. She had also worked as a cashier at Hooks, Speedway and Kroger. She was a certified nurses assistant and had worked in home care services for a few years. Vicki had been attending the Servant Ministry Church in Sturgis. Prior to that she had attended the Christian Fellowship Center and for many years she was an active member of the First Church of God in Sturgis. She enjoyed bowling, puzzles, fishing, flower gardening, cooking and her well-known baking expertise will be missed by many. She was a talented singer and had a true love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Holton; one daughter, Martha (Steve) Schultz of Shipshewana, Ind.; two sons, Brian (Stacy) Cowan of Sturgis and Jaime (Angie) Cowan of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Sarah, Katherine and David Purcell, Devan Lowler and Jacob and Megan Cowan; one great-grandson, Samuel J. Brackob; two sisters, Vivian (Jim) Fennel of Fulton and Charlyn Miller of Florida; one brother, David (Connie) Lego of Marcellus; special friends Penny Ringler and Bonnie Harmon, both of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Donald Lego, William Lego, Edwin Jay Lego, Danny Lego and Stanley Lego; and an infant sister and brother, Phyllis and Paul Lego. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Vicki Cowan will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Matthew Fennel, a nephew of Mrs. Cowan, will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the South Colon Cemetery in Colon Township. Memorial donations to the family would be appreciated, c/o: Holton Cowan, 206 N. Violet M. Garrison-Sharp, 83 of Coldwater, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service begins. Pastor Shayne Looper of Lockwood Community Church will officiate. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. at the Dutch Ridge Cemetery in Huntertown, Ind., also on Tuesday. Violet was born on June 16, 1926 in Auburn, Ind. to Reed and Florence (Ambler) Warner and graduated from Auburn High School. She met her first husband, Warren Garrison, while both worked at General Electric in Ft. Wayne. They married on Oct. 19, 1948. She worked as a homemaker, raising their three children. Violet later returned to school and received her Associates Degree from International Business College. She performed secretarial work for many businesses including; Lima Elevator in Howe, Ind.; Topeka Seed & Stove and the Ex-Cello Company in Topeka, Ind.; Magnavox in Garrett, Ind., retiring at the age of 70. She married her second husband, Donald L. Sharp, on April 25, 1992. Violet returned to work for Wal-Mart as a cashier in Angola, Ind. and most recently as a greeter at the Coldwater Wal-Mart. She again retired on Dec. 30, 2009 after eleven years with the company. Violet resided in Coldwater for the last six years, but in the past had been a resident of Ft. Wayne, Carmel, LaGrange and loved living on several of the lakes that were part of the Indian Chain of Lakes. Moving from the lakes to Huntertown and then to Angola, Ind. She loved the lakes, fishing, gardening, watching and feeding the birds and traveling with family. Violet is survived by her children, Janet Reuter of Warsaw, Ind.; David Garrison of Emmett, Idaho; Deborah (William) Peiffer of Coldwater; former daughter-in-law Laurie Garrison of Sparks, Nev., sister-in-law, Julia Warner of Roanoke, Va.; 10 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Marion Haifley; both husbands; sister Evelyn Vogts and brother Kenneth Warner. Virginia B. Blair, 78, of Reading, passed away Tuesday Jan. 6, 2010, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility where she had spent the past year.  She was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Napoleon Ohio.  Virginia had been a waitress and caregiver for a handicapped child.  She also volunteered with school activities and the Bluebird program.  Virginia was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, caring for animals and devoting her time and love to her family. On Dec. 24, 1948, she married Dale Blair and he preceded her in death in 1968. Survivors include three daughters,  Jackie (Dale) Epker, Beverly Hills, Linda Hughes, Quincy, Pam (Jim) Allion, Hillsdale;  four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents (Louis Davis and Audrey (Homan) Davis Owens), a sister, a son, and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the George White Funeral Home, Reading. Visitation is scheduled  4-8 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. until time of service Saturday.   Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson Foundation or Hillsdale County Humane Society.  |

Willie B. Foshia Willie B. Foshia, age 87 of Algonac, Mich. died January 17, 2010, in the Medilodge of St. Clair. He was born April 19, 1922, in Johnson City, Tenn. He married Algerine Surcey in 1946 in Johnson City. She died September 11, 1988. Mr. Foshia is survived by his children; Richard (Patti), Michael (Linda), Gary, Cynthia, Terry (Martha), and Della (Ron) Zaborski, a brother; Sam (Marjorie), 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
