Adam Daniel Steglich, 17, of 9020 West 750 North Shipshewana, Ind., died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at the scene of a motorcycle accident at the intersection of State Road 120 and County Road 43 Middlebury, Ind. He was born Oct. 12, 1991, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Danny Steglich and Jeri Lucas. He had lived most of his life in this area. He had been a student in the Westview School system through last year and had completed his junior year in high school. He was currently finishing out his G.E.D. in Topeka. Adam enjoyed playing football and was a member of the Westside Football Club, Shipshewana. He had wrestled for Westview and enjoyed riding motorcycles, dirt bikes and go-karts. He also enjoyed archery and paintballing, in which he played often at Splatman Du in Michigan. Survivors include mother and step father, Jeri (Jerry) Mehrley of Shipshewana, Ind.; father, Danny Steglich of Shipshewana, Ind.; brother, Jamie Mehrley of Shipshewana, Ind.; grandparents, Daniel (Janet) Lucas of Constantine, Mich. and Robert, Sr. (Donna) Steglich of Shipshewana, Ind.; great-grandfather, Joseph Danna of Benton Harbor, Mich.; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at funeral home. Burial will be in the Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.  Albert Brintwood Swindle, Jr., age 60, of Adrian, Mich., died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Provincial House in Adrian. He was born in Adrian on July 20, 1949, to Albert Brintwood and Jewel Florence (Rye) Swindle. Albert graduated an honor student from Adrian High School. He received an Associate Degree from Michigan Christian College in Pontiac, Mich., and a Certificate in Bookkeeping from Jackson Business School in Jackson, Mich. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. Degree in Accounting from Siena Heights University. During his career as an accountant, he worked at banks in Birmingham, Ala., Prentiss Aircraft in Adrian, Mich., and the Tecumseh Country Club in Tecumseh, Mich. He also ran a successful part-time income tax business built on repeat clients, many of whom became long-time friends. He enjoyed collecting and dealing in stamps, comic books and coins, was highly respected by other collectors and dealers, and was in demand by new collectors seeking his advice. Albert was an avid reader.  He was interested in many subjects, which included history, and was very knowledgeable about the Civil War. He had a deep faith in God. He had a deep concern for the hungry, the homeless and the helpless. Albert was preceded in death by his father, Albert B. Swindle, and an infant niece, Christina Swindle. He is survived by his mother, Jewel Swindle of Adrian, Mich.; a son, Jonathan Jason (Amanda) Swindle; and a granddaughter, Reanna Swindle of Lore City, Ohio.  Also surviving is his dear sister, Kathy Swindle Howard of Adrian; three brothers, Jim (Bo) (Carma) Rye of Grand Rapids, Ohio, Dennis Swindle of Milan, Mich., and George (Mary Ann) Swindle of Battle Creek, Mich. Other survivors include three nieces: special niece Jadelynn, Cyndy and Wendie; three nephews, Aaron, Chris, and Dennis II; two grand-nieces, Renee and Nikki; three grand-nephews, Adam, Matt and Christopher, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Albert Brintwood Swindle will be held on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with two of his brothers, Dennis and Jim Swindle, officiating.  Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Andrew Chronis Andrew Chronis, age 87, died August 27, 2009. Andrew was a longtime resident of St. Clair Shores and, more recently, Chesterfield Township. He was a member of UAW Local 412 as well as Bruce Post VFW. 1146. Beloved Husband for 62 years of the late Madeline. Andrew and Madeline enjoyed many happy times and made wonderful friends with both the St. Clair Shores Senior Cruisers and the New Baltimore Seniors Club. Andrew served in the 82nd Airborne during WWII. He was a proud DAV Member and active in the Bruce Post VFW 1146. He retired from Chrysler as a maintenance supervisor. Andrew was also a dedicated member of UAW Local 412. He was the dear brother of Andrea (Dan) Stephens, Alvina (Wally) Becker, Athena (Jerry) Putnam, Pam Slot, and the late Connie, Christopher, Larry (Phyllis) and Beatrice Pettalia. Anthony J. Charley Anthony J. Charley, age 79, a longtime resident of St. Clair Shores passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009, at home surrounded by his family. He was a longtime member of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3160. He was employed by the County of Macomb and retired as an engineer. He is survived by his sons, Kevin (Gloria), Craig (Pam) and daughter, Mary Charley; grandchildren Kathleen and Angela Charley and brother, Robert (Mary) Joseph. Predeceased by his wife, Gertrude and daughter, Michele. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church. Arlene McMahon, 71, of Riga passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at her home. She was born March 22, 1938, in Blissfield, to Tim and Georgia (Gust) Brubaker. In 1956 Arlene married Raymond Barnhart of Adrian; he preceded her in death. On April 20, 1973, she married Joseph McMahon Jr. of Deerfield and he survives. Arlene was a morning manager at McDonald’s in Blissfield, where she still enjoyed working, and was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary in Blissfield. She is also survived by her children, Sheryl (Brad) Donbrosky of Deerfield, Charles (Connie) Barnhart of Deerfield, Stephen Barnhart of Livonia and Sandra (John) LaVoy of Palmyra; stepchildren, Jim (Bonnie) McMahon of Texas, Pat Iffland of Blissfield, Dan (Cy) McMahon of Blissfield, Jean (Bill) Goodrow of Tecumseh, Cathryn (Joe) Saylor of Blissfield, Martha (John) Tucker of Colorado, Kimberly (Don) Raper of Adrian and Joe McMahon III of Texas; along with a combined 32 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Hazel Brubaker of Blissfield, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sheila; son-in-law, Ken; a great-grandson; and siblings Ethel Pangburn and Richard and David Brubaker. Funeral services for Arlene will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield with Fr. Francis Mossholder officiating. Burial will follow in Riga Cemetery in Riga Township. Arline Launstein

Arline Launstein Leslie Age 99, Arline was called home by God on Sunday, August 30, 2009. She was born in Negaunee, MI on December 12, 1909. She later moved to Lansing, MI where she attended Lansing Business College. Arline was employed as a secretary for Smith Insurance Company in Lansing. She met and married Homer Launstein in 1934, who was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was a leader and member of many agricultural organizations. He was also a trustee of Vevay Township. Arline supported him in all of his endeavors. She was a lover of animals and took care of several cats and kittens until her death. Preceded in death by her husband Homer (1998); parents; brothers, George Williamson (Ardis), Marvin Williamson (Jean), Ardell Denosre; and granddaughter, Tracey Chartier. Surviving are her son, Larry Launstein (Sandy); grandchildren, Ron Launstein (Penny), Tom Launstein (Eva), Dan Launstein (Laura), Linda Faught (Greg), Patsy Nichols (Steve); great-grandchildren, Ellen, Ethan, Esther, Rann, and Von Launstein, Veronica Chantelois, Holden Nichols, Jessica Thelen, Chelsea and Alissa Chartier, Kasey Langtry; great-greatgrandchildren, Kaylah, Trey, Collin, and Ellie Thelen, Ocean Lia Chantelois, Naveh and Jason Langtry. He lived in Marlette the past 26 years and was previously from the Rochester area. He was born May 30, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, son to the late Edward & Margaret (Lucy) Foster. He served his country in the U.S. Army 1960 to 1963. He married Carleen VanNest June 18, 1983 in Royal Oak. Bob attended Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sandusky. He was a member of the North Branch Masonic Lodge #312 F&M. He was past High Priest Rochester Chapter #637 Royal Arch Masons, a Michigan order of High Priesthood, served as D.D.I. Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Michigan Member of North Branch R.A.M. He was past Thrice Illustrious Master of Pontiac Council #3 Royal and Select Masters. He served as chairman for 120th annual assembly of Grand Council Royal & Select Masters of Michigan. He was a member order of the Silver Trowel. Bob was past commander of Romeo Commandery #6 Knights Templar, and a Moslem Temple Shiner and member of Prince Edwin York Rite College #8 in St. Clair Shores. He was also past Chairman & Dad Advisor Rochester Chapter Order of DeMolay Rochester and Holder of the advisor Honor Key and DeMolay Cross of Honor. He was a member of the Peck American Legion, where he served as Jr. and Sr. Vice Commander. Bob enjoyed hunting, reading, cooking, traveling, pets and most of all, his family. He is survived by his wife, Carleen of Marlette; one daughter, Terri Lynn Foster of Pontiac; father-in-law, Clifford VanNest of Royal Oak; two sisters-in-law, Diane Howell of Rochester & Nancy (William) Hoemke of Royal Oak; one sister, Mary McAskin of Lake Orion; nieces, Alicia, Haley and Kelsy and nephew Brian; special friend, Rene Toler of Marlette; his buddies, Mandi, Coco, Rex, Smokey, George and Shadow. Barbara J. Edel 1934-2009 Barbara J. Edel, 75, Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. She was born on August 7, 1934 in Flint, daughter of the late Christian E. and Stephanie (Urbanik) Lukasavitz. She married Gerald J. Edel on September 8, 1956 in All Saints Catholic Church in Flint. Barbara graduated from Flint Junior College and Michigan State University with a B.S. in accounting and economics. She earned her Master of Arts degree from Regis University in Denver, Colo., majoring in community administration. Upon graduation from Michigan State, Barbara worked in the accounting department for Kettering University (General Motors Institute) in Flint. She took time away from the workplace to raise her six children. She was active in St. Mary's Queen of Angels Parish in Swartz Creek. The family moved to Bad Axe in 1968 when her husband accepted a store manager position with the Dibble's Stores. Barbara taught English at Sacred Heart Catholic School for three years. She was the assistant principal at the school the final year it was open (1971). Barbara was the director of the Head Start Program in Bad Axe for six years. She passed along her strong faith in God to her family. She was a true servant in many ministries at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was the director of religious education, coordinator of pastoral ministries, director of RCIA, sang in the choir and recently taught fourth grade religious education this past year. She touched the lives of many students, when she served as a substitute teacher in schools throughout the Thumb. Barbara was active as a scout leader and band booster. She loved to play games with her grandchildren, crossword puzzles, travel to visit her family and throw festive holiday parties. She is survived by her husband, Gerald J. Edel, Bad Axe; three daughters, Susan Nosal, Colorado Springs, Colo., Laurie (Gary) Pionk, Ruth and Dr. Margaret "Peggy" Edel Stone and her fiance, Michael Zerphy, Windsor, Vt., three sons, Gerald E. (Mary) Edel, Suwanee, Ga., Paul Christian Edel and friend of the family, Brian Wilhour, Arlington, Va. and Joel (Jitka) Edel, Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Christian Lukasavitz, Detroit and Raymond (Kathy) Lucas, Ann Arbor; one sister, Jean Marie (Ron) Miscisin, Oscoda and 12 grandchildren, Breanna, Kara and Jenna Nosal, Colorado Springs, Colo., Lesley (Dan) Hellerstedt, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Eric and Ross Pionk, Ruth, Megan, Marc and Max Edel, Suwanee, Ga., Xavier and Casimir Stone and Zofia Zerphy, Windsor, Vt. Bev was a purchasing director at Crittenton Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1985. She had been a Girl Scout leader. Beverly loved sewing and walking the beaches in Florida. She is survived by her husband, Nelson J. Roberts, Jr. of Metamora; children, Susan Roberts of Metamora, Judy (Michael) Roberts-Freed of White Lake, Timothy Roberts of Metamora; grandson, Jacob Freed of White Lake. C. Fabian “Mickey” McGraw, 90, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 at Drews Place of Hillsdale. He was born Aug. 10, 1919 in Pavo, Ga., to Hezekiah and Leila (Adams) McGraw. He was married June 17, 1950 to Lois Morr and she survives. Mickey received a Bachelor’s degreee in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was the former president of Hillsdale Tool and Union Steel Products in Albion. Mickey was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsdale and was a trustee emeritus of Hillsdale College having served as a board trustee from 1975 to 2003. Besides his wife, Lois, he is survived by a daughter, Karen (Houston Morrow) McGraw of Telluride, Colorado; two sons, Michael (Lynn) McGraw of St. Louis, Mo., and Matthew McGraw of Hillsdale; and four grandchildren. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. Memorial services for C. Fabian “Mickey” McGraw will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale with the Rev. Patti Beckman officiating. Carl David Brewer White Cloud Formerly of Lansing, age 69 of White Cloud and formerly of Six Lakes, and Lansing, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009 at his home. Dave was born on Feb. 20, 1940 in Lansing to Carl and Erda (Butler) Brewer and later married Karen Burch on June 30, 1979. Dave had worked at Diamond Reo, ASC Inc. and retired from Fisher Body in Lansing in 1990. Dave was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church and enjoyed restoring old cars and was a hot rod enthusiast. Dave served in the US Navy from 1958-1961. Survived by his wife, Karen of White Cloud; his daughters, Tina (Paul) Mitchell of Columbia, TN; Terona Killingbeck of Columbia, TN; son, Jerry Del (Judi) Sawyers of Six Lakes; grandchildren, Paul (Crystal) Mitchell II; Shina (James) Mitchell-Lewis; Tiffani Killingbeck; Cayden Killingbeck; Jeremy (Carla) Sawyers; Joshua (Samantha) Sawyers; Carrie Sawyers; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Wollet of Lansing; Phyllis (Lee) Black of Eagle; Beverly (Owen) Phillips of Holt; his brother, Tom (June) Brewer of Lansing; several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Reading High School in 1957 and the Toledo School of Nursing. She worked as an obstetrics nurse and retired from Grayling Hospital. Carolyn attended the Camden Missionary Church and was a member of the Reading Wednesday Club. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and getting together with high school and nursing school classmates, and spending time at the family’s Lake Michigamme cottage. On Dec. 27, 2005, she married Elwood Dietrich and he survives. Also surviving are two sons, James C. (Randy) Mason of Mooresville, N.C., and Robert W. Mason of Gaylord; stepchildren, Douglas Dietrich and Scott (Karen) Dietrich, both of Reading; Timothy (Mary) Dietrich of Hillsdale and Dana (Renee) Dietrich of Ray, Ind.; one sister, Dianne (Gale) Netcher of Reading; one brother, C. Wayne (Tara) Weaver of Grand Ledge; four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her parents and her first husband, James F. Charles A. Sykes, 85, of Pittsford, passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility in Hillsdale. He was born on Aug. 31, 1923 in Romulus, the son of Anthony and Irene (Hubbard) Sykes. He attended Henry Ford Trade School where a passion for cars was born. He married Charlotte A. Curley on Aug. 5, 1977. She survives. Charles lived in the Romulus area until 1986 when he moved to Pittsford. He worked as a master mechanic and truck driver. Charles enjoyed rebuilding cars from the frame up. Surviving Charles besides his wife, Charlotte are ten children, Suzanne (Gary) Maddio of Defiance, Ohio, Charles Sykes of Albright Shores, Thomas (Tami) Sykes of Saginaw, Glenda (Hiram) Harris of Gladwin, Keith Sykes of Boston, Mass., Tammy (Michael) Kling of Coldwater, Daniel (Brandy) Sykes of Osseo, Theresa (Alvin) Mattson of Cement City, Matthew (Jody) Sykes of Pittsford and Rebecca Sykes of Pittsford; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren;eight brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters.                                                                                 Funeral services for Charles will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. Donald L. Myers, age 88, of Adrian passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Bixby Medical Center. Donald was born April 6, 1921, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of Simon and Lillian (Reid) Myers. During World War II, Don was stationed in the Pacific Theatre, where he served in the Marine Corps and was honored with a Purple Heart. On April 10, 1970, Don married Thelma “Ruth” McLaughlin Weber in Wauseon. Ruth, his wife of 38 years, preceded him in death in 2008. Don was a truck driver for Associated Truck Lines where he received a 30-Year Safe Driver Award. For many years he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Bedford, Mich. Don was a lifetime member of Chapter 20 Lenawee County Disabled American Veterans. Don is survived by two daughters, Linda Myers of Temperance, Mich., and Colleen Geers of Jones, Mich.; a stepson, Gene (Angie) Weber of Adrian; two sisters, Letha McKeever of Harrison, Mich., and Vivian Yentz of Monroe, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren. In addition to his wife, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Siedlecki, and a brother, Melvin Myers. The funeral service for Don will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Wagley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chris Brundage officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Annis Fint Post #1584 of the VFW and Chapter 20 Lenawee County Disabled American Veterans. Burial will follow at Pettisville Cemetery in Ohio. Harold F. "Sonny" Bauer 1950-2009 Harold F. "Sonny" Bauer, 59, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born July 19, 1950 in Unionville, son of the late Harold F. and Ella (Mall) Sr. He was married to Patricia A. Gremel on July 23, 1978 in San Diego, Calif. He was a 1968 graduate of Unionville High School and attended Delta College, University Center. Sonny had been employed as a production worker at Regency in Ubly for several years before retiring five years ago due to disability. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force of which two of them were in Thailand. He was an excellent wood worker. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, Sebewaing; two sons, Eric Bauer, Sebewaing and Kelly Bauer (Courtney Fritz), Pigeon; two brothers, Paul (Lennda) Bauer, Ramona, Calif. and Dennis (Debra) Bauer, Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Connie (Jim) Grant, Clio; Robin (Kent) Bach, Bay Port and Nona (Pat) Foley, Saginaw; one grandson, London Michale Bauer, Pigeon and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jackie Molden and Diane Weber and one brother, Richard Bauer. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. She was an active member of St. Mary's Assumption Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and the Sacred Heart Society. She was an accomplished pianist and well-versed in the Polish language, helping others to translate written letters during Polish Festival time. In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her son Todd Lemanski in October 1985. She is survived by her son Daniel Lemanski of Galesburg. Ida F. Campbell, age 98, of Adrian passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Lynwood Manor. She was born in Hudson Township on Feb. 14, 1911, to Roy and Maude (Edmonds) Roney. She was married to Myrl J. Campbell on April 11, 1931. They moved to Fairfield in 1935. Myrl and Ida were married for 64 years until his death on Feb. 14, 1996. Ida worked for the Sand Creek Schools for 22 years as a cook, four years at the High School, and 18 years as Manager of the Elementary cafeteria. Ida was active in P.T.A. and Band Boosters, and belonged to Jasper-Fairfield Mothers Club for many years. She was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ida is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert and Donna Campbell of Adrian and Donald and JoAnne Campbell of Palmetto, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jerry (Donna) Campbell, John (Lisa) Campbell and Jane (Gary) Baughey; six great-grandchildren, Amy, Brian, Jason, Joshua, Justin, and Jesika; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Norma Miller of Tecumseh. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Clifford, George, Glenn and Wynn Roney. Irvin J. Harris 1921-2009 Irvin J. Harris, 87, Caseville, died Monday, August 17, 2009 at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City after a long illness. He was born September 5, 1921 in Pinson Fork, Ky. to the late Robert and Oma (Smith) Harris. He grew up and attended school in McVeigh, Ky. before moving to Michigan in 1949. On August 18, 1951 he married Virginia Webb in Detroit. They moved to Hazel Park and raised their family there. Irvin retired from the City of Troy Engineering Dept. in 1983. In 1989 they moved to Caseville. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles FOE #3690 and the Hazel Park Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Jenny; children, Bobbie (Brian) Koczak, Hadley, Rosemary (Rob) Edwards, Metamora, Linda (E.Jay) Ferguson, Dryden, John (Gina), Lennon and Jody (Sharon), Clinton Twp; grandchildren, Robert, Tina, Candice, Patrick, Jay, Elesha, Kyle and Adam; great-grandchildren, Joslyn and Landon; brother Roby (Carol), Fowlerville and sisters, Bea Bostic, Ariz., Dolly Smith and Imogene (Wilson) Anderson, both of Ohio. JUDITH ANN VENCEL WATERTOWN TOWNSHIP Judith A. Vencel, age 70, of Watertown Township, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in the afternoon at McKenzie Memorial Hospital in Sandusky. She was born on November 26, 1938 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the daughter of the late Steven and Julia (Henry) Vencel. She had lived in Adair, Michigan and for the past seven years in Watertown. Judy graduated from Anchor Bay High School in 1955, and received her Associate Degree from Port Huron Junior College in 1957. In 1959, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Detroit and a Masters Degree in Library Science from Wayne State University in 1967. She began her career as a middle school teacher for the L Anse Creuse Public School System in 1959. Judy then became a media specialist at L Anse Creuse High School retiring from L Anse Creuse Middle School North in 1994. Judy was an avid traveler, having visited China, Spain, Panama, Hungary, Hawaii, South America,England and one summer drove to Alaska. She enjoyed classic movies, scrap-booking, Star Trek re-runs and going to yard sales. Judy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be deeply missed. Judy is survived by her children, Christine L. (James Portilla) Cambridge and James V. (Rebecca) Cambridge and four grandchildren, James M. Portilla, Christian A. Portilla, Joshua Z. Mr. Gilhouse was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Daisy Gilhouse, and three brothers, Albert, Bill and LeRoy. Since his retirement he has enjoyed the camaraderie shared with his buddies almost daily at breakfast. Jim graduated from MSU in 1969. Jim was a former member of Kiwanis and an active member of the Masons. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at the West Locke Wesleyan Church, 2652 Haslett Road, Williamston, Mich., with the Rev. Mike Black officiating. Joseph John Campbell Joseph John Campbell, age 75, retired from Detroit Police Department, passed away peacefully on August, 30, 2009, surrounded by his loving family in St. Clair Shores. The last of eight children born to Russell and Marie (Striech) Campbell, Joe grew up on the east side of Detroit and graduated from St. Martins High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard before joining the Detroit Police Department in 1956. He retired for the first time in 1981 but later worked at St. John Hospital before joining the Federal Mogul Corporation providing executive protection. Joe's real passions were golfing, boating, singing, and spending time with his family and friends. He wowed many audiences at weddings and at local clubs with his renditions of "Mack the Knife," and all of his Sinatra favorites. He is survived by his children, Molly Campbell, of Petaluma, Calif., Joseph Campbell and his wife Janet, of Cohasset, Mass., Jill Campbell of Mount Clemens, Bonnie Palmer, and her husband Dan of Grosse Pointe, and Sara Campbell of St. Clair Shores. He was predeceased by his daughter Vanessa Campbell of New York City. He is survived by nine grandchildren and by brothers, Francis and Russell as well as sister, Mary. He was predeceased by sisters, Anna and Clarice and brothers, Lawrence and Robert. Everyone's favorite uncle, Joe is also survived by many nieces and nephews who all still think that they were his favorite. Mrs. Hill was born September 22, 1938 in Jackson, Michigan; the daughter of Carl and Lillian (Harford) Schlee. She grew up in Potterville but had been a resident of Lansing for 44 years. Years ago, Mrs. Hill was a waitress at Archie Tarpoff's Restaurant in Lansing and more recently was a demonstrator at Sam's Club. She is survived by her brothers, Carl (Sally) Schlee of Potterville, Dorian (Barbara) Schlee of South Carolina, Eugene (Bonnie) Schlee of Texas; sister, Loretta Robison of DeWitt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hill, in 2006; sister, Mary Smedley; brothers, Donald Schlee and Dean Schlee. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, Michigan, with Fr. J. Nixon McMillan officiating. Larry D. Fellows, 49, of Waldron, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at his home. He was born Oct. 26, 1959, in Gary, Ind., the son of Landon Duane and Nancy Sue (Goodrich) Fellows. He married Tammy Metcalf on Feb. 14, 2008, in Hillsdale, and she survives. Larry was a self-employed milk hauler for more than 32 years and owner of Fellows Trucking in Waldron. He graduated from Waldron High School Class of 1978, was a member of Michigan Milk Haulers Association and enjoyed collecting toy tractors and semis. He dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed by all. Surviving Larry besides his wife, Tammy, are a daughter, Dawn Fellows of Coldwater; one son, Bert (Cindy) Fellows of Pittsford; three step-children, Crystal Rau of Catawba, Ohio; Cory Rau of Waldron and John (Crystal) Rau of Waldron; two sisters, Lesta Preston of Ann Arbor and Priscilla Fellows of Phoenix; one brother, Jim (Ann) Fellows of Waldron; several nieces and nephews. She was born March 22, 1924, in LaGrange, Ind., a daughter to the late William and Grace Kerns. Marcella was first married to Elton Barkman and after his passing she married Harold Myers.  He also preceded her in death. She had been employed by Doer Products in Burr Oak, Mich., for 28 years and was a member for 34 years of the Sturgis Moose Lodge and the Capt. John J. Kelley V.F.W. Post #1355. She enjoyed playing Bingo, playing cards, crossword puzzles, needlepoint, collecting rabbits, and being with people, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are three children, Alta Kane and Glenna Michielsen, both of Burr Oak,  and Ivan (Dixie) Barkman of Bronson, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Leola Middleton of Coldwater; two brothers, Herbert Kerns of LaGrange, Ind., and William (Louise) Kerns of Burr Oak. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven sisters, and five brothers. She was born April 23, 1949 in Bad Axe, daughter of Anna T. (Ney) Kling and the late Samuel Kling. Peggy was a 1968 graduate of Bad Axe High School. She then attended St. Clair Community College and later graduated from Ferris State University with her Registered Nurse degree. She was a dedicated OR Nurse at Huron Memorial Hospital in Bad Axe for many years. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed country line dancing and loved spending time with her three Maltese dogs that she had for many years. Margaret E. Schrepfer Haslett Margaret Elaine (Thompson) Schrepfer, age 78, of Haslett, passed away on August 3, 2009. She was born in 1931 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter Glen "Tom" and Maxine (Sowers) Thompson. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in special education. She taught at the Michigan School for the Blind in Lansing, and later taught 3rd and 4th grade in Haslett. She was a member of Haslett Community Church, and played the flute in the Mason Orchestra. A person of many interests and talents, Margaret enjoyed reading, writing, spinning, weaving, quilting and sewing. She had a wealth of knowledge about family history. She loved music, and used her musical talents to bring comfort to people in nursing homes. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Alfred (Fred) Schrepfer; a daughter Anni (Tim) Baker of Fowlerville; a son, Fred (Dona Rumrill) Schrepfer of Dewitt; Twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Jane Thompson of South Lyon, Michigan and Sarah Gadon of Salt Spring Island, Brittish Columbia, Canada; and one brother, Chad (Helen) Thomson, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to thank the Rev. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima and St. Charles Catholic Churches and actively supported the Branch County Humane Society, Branch County Historical Society and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica.    On Nov. 28, 1940, she married Robert E. Lee DeWolfe and he preceded her in death in 2003.  Survivors include sisters Pauline Daniel of Battle Creek, Betty Warkoczeski of Coldwater, Joyce (Thomas) Worthington of Wisconsin and Barbara (Marty) Craydon of Union City, brothers Bill Doll of Coldwater and Jim Doll of Naples, Fla. and many nieces and nephews In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by brother Robert Doll. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Union City, with Father Dan Doctor officiating. A visitation is scheduled Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the George White Funeral Home, Quincy. Interment of ashes in Lakeview Cemetery, Quincy, will be at a later date. She was born in Eagle Pass., Texas on October 4, 1916, daughter of Tomas and Jesusa (Gonzales) Lombrano. On May of 1931 she married Alex Alegria in Texas. He has preceded her in death. Maria was fond of gardening, country music and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Frank (Becky) Alegria, Arthur (Linda) Alegria and Sonny Alegria, Clara Ackerman, Blanche Arellano, Oriole Alegria, Helen (Andy) Davila, Rose (Ernie) Edwards, Linda (Bill) Gainforth and Jane Alegria; 50 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers; sisters; a son, Alex Jr. in August of 2008, son-in-law, Melvin Ackerman in July of 2002, granddaughters, Angela and Linda Davila in January of 1996 and a nephew, Ackerman in 1981. She enjoyed ceramics, reading, cooking, mushroom hunting, her pets, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Surviving are one daughter, Donna S. (Ken) Johnson of Sturgis; one son, Gary “Gus” E. (Dixie) Kain of Sturgis; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Herb Haskins of Sturgis, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Marlene Nolan; and a brother, Veryl E. Oldham. Mattie Troyer, age 95, of Colon, passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at her home. Mattie was born Jan. 18, 1914, in Reno County, Kan., a daughter to the late Mose P. and  Susan (Miller) Miller. On June 18, 1933, she married Reuben J. Troyer in Conway, Kan. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1980. Mattie had made her home in rural Colon since 1962 coming from Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making quilts.  Mattie was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She is survived by five daughters, Sue Cole of Colon, Mary (Lonnie) Miller of Rutherford, Tenn., Kate (Marvin) Schlabach of Sturgis, Ann Hostetler of Colon, and Marty (Dave) Chiddister of Colon; three sons, Harry R. Troyer of Burr Oak, Mose R. (Ruth) Troyer of Mendon and Junior (Sue ) Troyer of Colon; adopted children, Truman and Susan Bontrager of Colon; 33 grandchildren and 82 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Miller of Anthony Kan.; one sister, Mary Hershberger of Millersburg, Ind.; four half brothers, Harry, Mose, Reuben and Henry Miller all of Ohio; one half sister, Rachel Girod of New York; two step sisters, Mattie Stutzman and Susie Wengerd; one step-brother Levi Hershberger, all of Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, David Troyer; six grandchildren; son-in-law, Murl Cole; daughter-in-law, Josie Troyer; adopted son-in-law, Wilbur Schmucker; two brothers and three sisters. Max Brandeberry, 85, formerly of Jerome, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at State Veterans Home in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Williams County, Ohio, the son of Earl and Faye (Esterline) Brandeberry. He married Donna Vee Stafford Feb. 27, 1946, in Pioneer, Ohio and she preceded him in death July 28, 2003. Max retired as plant manager from Risdon Dairy in Detroit and also was employed as distribution manager for Domino’s Pizza in Detroit and branch manager for Thompson Savings Bank in Manitou Beach. He moved to the Jerome area in 1960 and spent his winters in the Lakeland, Fla. area. He was president of the Kings & Queens Homeowners Association in Florida, member of Lions Club in Michigan and Florida and member of Waldron Wesleyan Church. He volunteered at Jackson City Library and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Surviving Max are two daughters, Debra (Steve) Svinicki of Rio Verde, Ariz. and Marsha (Mike) Wesolowski of Bothell, Wash.; one son, Larry (Karen) Brandeberry of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Misty, Shilow, Shelby, Ray, Mallory, Marc and Cody; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Carmen Brandeberry. Memorial services for Max will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. Rich Sr. on July 7, 1976, in Flat Rock. Mrs. Rich worked as a plant manager for Sherwin Williams for over 15 years and retired from BASF after three years. She attended Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Fraser. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her husband, Robert. She is survived by her husband, Robert; four sons, Robert Rich Jr. of Hudsonville, Larry Rich and fiancee Laura Atty of West Bloomfield, Mark Rich of Harrison Township and Louis (Michelle) Rich of Holly; a daughter, Ann (Eric) Ottenbacher of Jennison; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two aunts and an uncle, Tom and Wanda Houdek and Eveline Dubois; and several cousins including a very special cousin, Gary (Karen) Houdek. Priscilla M. McElmurry, 88, passed away Jan. 27, 2009, at her daughter’s home. She was born on Aug 7, 1920, in the Chicago area, the daughter of James and Priscilla Gibb of Lansing. On Aug. 17, 1940, she married Daryl McElmurry. Priscilla was preceded in death by her son, Daryl Gibb McElmurry, her husband Daryl H. McElmurry and her granddaughter Daryl K. McElmurry. Her surviving children are Thomas McElmurry (Denise) of Texas, Priscilla Young (Ken) of Livonia, Melissa Rippee of Jackson and her daughter-in-law Phyllis McElmurry. She was fortunate to have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Priscilla loved gardening, sewing, needlepoint, reading, golf and the quiet of the countryside. A memorial service was held at her home where her loving presence was felt by all. We all miss her.

He was born September 5, 1925 in Detroit, son to the late Lewis & Jessie (Harvey) Watson. He graduated from Carsonville High School in 1944. Following graduation he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. Robert married Beverly (Blazier) Chaffin, April of 1955, she passed away January 2007. He then married June Robison, September of 1983, she died June of 1984. He then married Geraldine Kirk, January of 1994, she preceded him in death in October of 2000. He was a member of Cass City & Watertown Missionary Church. He worked as a Electronic Technician for Long's Furniture Store for 20 years and also worked at Guerdon Industries and Western Auto Store in Marlette, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed flying airplanes and model airplanes, talking on his Amature Radio, fishing, camping, working on his computer and most of all, his family. He is survived by one son, Daniel (Nina) Watson of Deford; granddaughter, Marie Watson & fianc e Frank Miller of Snover and five step daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald and one stepson. Funeral services were held at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Rev. Bob Sweeney and Paul Melcher officiating. He served with the U.S Army from October 1960 to October, 1963. A member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 17, Detroit, he was a lineman for 40 years, retiring in 2007. He was an electrical Inspector for five years. Richard was also a Sheriff's Deputy from 1976-1980, and served as the Deerfield Chief of Police for two years. He was a member of the Ida United Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Monroe County Antique Tractor Association. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; three sons, Robbin Patrick (Mary) of Ida, Ricki Dean of Malabar, Fla., Michael Ryan (Audra) of Petersburg; a brother, Don Lee (Mary) of Gresham, Ore.; six grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Christopher, Jason, Richard, David and Brittney; and a great-granddaughter, Jasmine. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Wilhite. Funeral Mass was 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Donald Klein. Interment was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. A visitation was held 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel with a vigil service beginning at 4 p.m. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is entrusted with arrangements. Ronald D. Gunther

Ronald D. Gunther Lansing Ronald was born October 4, 1947 and died August 27, 2009 after a brief, but courageous battle with Cancer. As a young man, he was always interested in flying. He earned his private pilot's license shortly after graduating from high school. In 1967, he answered his country's call to duty, enlisted in the U.S. Army, and distinguished himself as a Cobra Helicopter pilot, receiving 2 Air Medals of Honor and the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving in Vietnam. He graduated with honors from the Florida Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Air Commerce - Transportation Economics. His career spanned 23 years and included 14 years at Miami International Airport where he began as an Airport Engineer and left the airport as an Interim Deputy Director responsible for the operations of Miami International Airport and five other general aviation airports. It also included nearly five years in Hong Kong as the General Manager for the Chek Lap Airport Operations Development. While overseas, he was diagnosed with MS. He lived his remaining years with his father, Jack Gunther, who survives him. He was preceded in death by his mother, June (Gunther) Waite. He is also survived by children David (Andrea) Gunther and Debbie (Alex) Fajet and their respective children; his brother, Jim (Shelley) Gunther; nieces, Meghan Gunther and Rachel Gunther; nephew, Andrew Gunther; great-niece, Kendall; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Melanie Baker-Streevy of First United Methodist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Volunteers of America. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Ronald Roy Schrock, age 57‚ of Centreville passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at his home. He was born in LaGrange, Ind., on May 10, 1952, a son of Roy D. and Rachael  I. (Hershberger) Schrock. Ron graduated from Centreville High School in 1970 and attended Glen Oaks Community College for two years. On Nov. 6, 1971, Ron married Florence M. Hagelgans  in Centreville. Together they have been foster parents for the last 23 years. Ron worked at the Michigan Milk Producers Association in Constantine for 33 years. Surviving Ron are his wife Florence M. Schrock, Centreville; daughters, Heather Schrock of Constantine, Casey (Kyle) Murk of Mannheim, Germany, MaKayla Schrock and Chylynn Schrock, both of Centreville; sons Ronald (Becky) Schrock, Jr. of Yukon, Okla., Rick (Marion) Schrock of Three Rivers, Karter Schrock, Aidan Schrock and Branson Schrock, all of Centreville; his mother, Rachael Ake of Sturgis; nine grandchildren; sister, Margo (Larry) Klein of Three Rivers; and brothers Alan (Rita) Ake of Sturgis and Donald (Robin) Ake of Edwardsburg. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Peggy Price and brother, Max Ake. Relatives and friends will be receivedfrom 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. Stewart D. Swihart Sr.

Stewart D. Swihart Sr., age 97, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, 404 Cottage, Sturgis, Mich., died peacefully at Thurston Woods Village on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009. He was born Oct. 25, 1911, to Dyoll and Ella (Dague) Swihart in Howe, Ind.  He graduated Brighton High School (1929) and Purdue University (1934) with a mechanical engineering degree.  He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Reserve Officers Corp. In 1937, he married Irene L. Koon in Kendallville, Ind.  She died in 1971. In 1975, he married Lillian (Walters) Stukey in Sturgis. Stewart served five years, stateside, in World War II as a pilot instructor, and separated from the United States Air Force Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel.  At age 60, he was assigned to the United States Air Force, retired.  He purchased and operated Royal Crown Bottling Company in Sturgis for 27 years.  He later worked and retired from Keybank in Sturgis.  In his early years, he worked for the Essington Co., Ft. Wayne, Ind., and received two United States patents for mechanisms controlling the flow of liquids.  He was an active church and community member.  He served as Chairman of the Congregation at Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Board of Elders, Chairman of the Board of Property, and communion steward.  He was an active Sturgis Exchange Club member earning Exchangite of the Year, The Book of Golden Deeds, and honored for 50 years of service in the Exchange Club.  He was recognized by the Exchange Club for starting a scholarship at Glen Oaks Community College Nursing School.  He served on the Sturgis Airport Advisory Board and was chosen to be the Sturgis Citizen of the year in 2003.  He was a charter member of the Popcorn Guild at Sturgis Hospital. He was a certified private pilot flying his airplane for business and pleasure.  Many flights were trips to Purdue football games and Purdue class reunions.  He was a life member of the Purdue Alumni Association and the Purdue Forever Club.  He was an avid “Boilermaker” and Big Ten fan.  He also enjoyed his speedboat rides on Klinger Lake and hosting his Cleveland family members at Klinger Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife; three brothers, Donald, Maynard, and Ledger Swihart; and several nieces and nephews. Surviving are his wife, Lillian; a son, Stew (Donna) Swihart II; grandchildren, Scott Swihart of Sturgis, Steven (Lisa) Swihart of Lansing, and Cathy (Kurt) Stevens of Grand Rapids; five great-grandchildren, Grayson Swihart, William and Jackson Swihart, and Becca and Andy Stevens.  He is also survived by a step-daughter, Christine (Duane) Gonser of Sturgis and a step-son, Jon Stukey of Atlantic City; four step-grandchildren, April (Galen) Geigley, Andrew and Steven Mathews, and Torri Stukey; two step-great-grandchildren, Carina and Cierra Geigley.  Other survivors are a niece, Marla Swihart; a nephew, Martin Swihart; sister-in-law, Donna (Frank) Krontz; brother-in-law, Clarence (Elaine) Walters and many nieces and nephews from the Sturgis, Howe, and Cleveland areas. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2-4 p.m. and 6- 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes - Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091.   Services celebrating the life of Stewart D. Swihart Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis with The Rev. Michael Klafehn and The Rev. Calvin Kolzow, officiating. Graveside services will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery with full military rites conferred by the Capt. John J. Kelley V.F.W. Post #1355 and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. The family suggest memorial donations be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the World War II Honor Flights. Valerie Ellen DeFrane Lapeer Valerie Ellen DeFrane, 71, of Lapeer (formerly of Bad Axe) passed away Thursday (August 27, 2009). She was born June 29, 1938, in Huron County, to James and Mary (Gainor) Dobson. She married Leon William DeFrane on April 2, 1978 in Sterling Heights. Mrs. DeFrane was a member of the Lapeer Area Elks, Moose Lodge - Lapeer and American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Vernon H. Teeple

Vernon H. Teeple, 82, of Sturgis, died Aug. 15, 2009, following a long illness. He passed away at the Veteran’s Palliative Care Ward in Battle Creek, Mich., with his family by his side. He was very proud of his military service, serving his country in the U.S. Naval Air in World War II. He enlisted after his only brother, Staff Sergeant Richard J. Teeple, was killed in Negros Island, Phillippine Islands. On Aug. 21, 1948, he married Clara Rantz, also from Dearborn. At the time of his death, they were married 61 year. He and Clara had three sons, Rance (Diane)of South Lyon, Richard (Judy) of Dearborn and Wes (Cheryl) of Sturgis. He also had five grandchildren, Brad, Cassie, Stephanie, Rantz and Ryan, who gave him a great deal of pleasure. He is also survived by one sister, Marilyn (Hank)Kazner of Reno, Nev., and one sister-in-law, Helen (Charles)Kayson of Rockwood, Mich; and many nieces and newphews. He was happiest when he was hunting, fishing and camping with his family. After the war, Vernon and his father started a small print shop, Du Processing in Dearborn. He worked at that for 16 years until his father’s death. After selling the business, he was employed at Gaylord Printing Company until his retirement in 1989. He was prceded in death by his parents, a very young brother and sister and his military brother, Richard. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Vivian R. Geer

Vivian R. Geer East Lansing Vivian died peacefully on August 29, 2009 in her home with family. She was 82. She was born on October 2, 1926, the daughter of Bryan J. Anderson and Margaret P. (Green) Anderson Cooper in Polk, NE. At the age of 12, she moved to Torrington, WY where she graduated from Torrington High School at 16. She received a BA from the University of Wyoming with numerous honors, including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. She obtained her Masters of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati in Romance Languages. Vivian married Robert J. Geer in 1949 in Evanston, IL and moved to Michigan in 1955. She taught French and Spanish in college and various high schools. She provided private tutoring to competitive ice skaters. She retired from Lansing General Hospital (Ingham Medical) where she worked as a medical transcriptionist. Vivian served as a chaplain at the Ingham County Correctional Facility for Women, Chaplain's Assistant at Ingham Medical, and in a Christian Coffeehouse ministry at the Masters House. Vivian is survived by her husband, Robert Geer and their nine children: Richard (Carol); J. Stephen (Michelle) of Florida; Robert W. of Florida; Marjorie Snider of Virginia; James; Patricia (Richard) Peterson; Paul (Susan); David (Yulia) of Kansas; and Shirley of Virginia; 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and numerous others she called her own. A writer and a poet, a brilliant mind with a humble and generous, loving spirit, Vivian loved music, theater, travel, bird watching, and cherished her Lord Jesus, her family and friends. In her recent years Vivian enjoyed singing with the senior citizen's group, the Young at Heart (YAH) Singers, and will now be adding her rich alto to the heavenly choir praising her Lord and Savior. The funeral service will be held at Christ Community Church, 227 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2009, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, MI 48933 (517-482-1651).
