Alta Elaine Ranes Lansing Went to be with her lord on September 15, 2009 at the age of 84. Born August 2, 1925 in Lansing to Logan and Alta Hannahs. Alta was an Angel on earth that enjoyed quilting and picking her raspberries. She was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; Brothers, Ludwig, Darwin, Gordon; Sisters, Lela Beltz, June Mollitor, and Leona Squires. Alta was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Bill Ranes; daughter, Karen (Darrell) Place; sons, Darwin "Ray" (Danielle) Ranes, Bill (Jeanine) Ranes, Ed (Jill) Ranes, Jeff (Laura) Ranes; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren plus one on the way; brothers, Delbert (Barbara) Hannahs, Logan (Alice) Hannahs, Marvin (Joyce) Hannahs, Gary (Bonnie) Hannahs; sister, Erica Olson; as well as several nieces, nephews, and devoted friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. from Chapel in the Pines Funeral Home. Arnold J. Gravelle 1926-2009 Arnold J. Gravelle, 82, Bad Axe, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. He was born on November 7, 1926 in Bad Axe to the late Silas and Della (Coats) Gravelle. He married Patricia Ann Bezemek on August 6, 1949 in the Bad Axe First United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2001. He was a member of the Bad Axe First United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army. She was born April 3, 1931, in Chelsea to Frank and Dorothy (Swarthout) Kornexl. She was married Feb. 19, 1960, to Royal Richards and he preceded her in death in 1995. Bertha enjoyed oil painting, gardening, and playing cards. She loved to spend time with her family. Bertha would always insist on feeding family members and friends, never letting a visitor leave her home hungry. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca (Eugene) Goodlock of Hillsdale; sons, Joseph (Dianna) Brown of Harrison, Michael Brown of Montana, Frank (Daylene) Brown of Hillsdale and Lewis Richards of Pittsford; 20 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian (Robert) Shankleton, Dorothy Fugate, Mary Hadley and Evelyn (Robert) Kotar; brothers, John Kornexl, Gerry (Rhonda) Kornexl, Daniel Kornexl and Frank (Genendel) Kornexl. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary Keith Brown; and a sister, Shirley Driver. Graveside funeral services for Bertha Richards will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14  at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom Township. Betty Jean (Carter) Seal, age 81, of Three Rivers went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Patrick County, Va., on Jan. 24, 1928. She was married in 1946 to Herman Bailey Seal when they were reunited after his service in World War II. They lived in Mount Airy, N.C., where she worked as a seamstress at Hanes Textile and Allendale Mills. They had one daughter, Barbara Jean. In 1962, they moved to Three Rivers, Michigan. Betty Jean worked in Centreville at Denton Mills until she retired in 1991. She was a faithful attendee of Bethany Baptist Chapel and a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Three Rivers. Preceding her in death were her husband, Herman Seal; her parents, John Edgar and Della Carter; brothers Ralph Carter, Moir Carter, Gilmer Carter and William Carter; and sister Irene Seal. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Kyle; a daughter, Barbara Jean Welty; a son-in-law, William Welty; and  grandchildren Emily Welty, Nick Welty and Rebecca Welty. Betty Jean was an avid gardener, hostess extraordinaire, supreme baker of chocolate pies, self-taught pianist and enthusiastic singer. She was a delightful and generous spirit with the ability to make friends with everyone she encountered. Betty Jean’s battle with lung cancer was a courageous one which she faced with grace and good humor. Her faith enabled her to reach out to those around her and see the best in all people. She touched the lives of countless people and will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Hohner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Three Rivers Health Hospice, c/o the Three Rivers Health Foundation. She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Hudson, Mich., the daughter of Ray and Gladys (Bowman) Climo. Betty was a life-long Hudson area resident and graduated from Hudson High School, Class of 1941. She was a member of the Hudson Senior Citizens and the Open Door Bible Church in Hudson. Surviving Betty is one brother, Joe (Phyllis) Climo of Lakeland, Fla.; brother-in-law, the Rev. Gerald Hephner of Temperance, Mich.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Janet Hephner. At Betty’s request there will be no visitation or services. Private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson. Local arrangements were entrusted to Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.

Betty Louise Lewis, age 79, of LaGrange,Ind., passed away Monday evening, Sept. 7, 2009, at her home. She was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Auburn, Ind., a daughter of the late Meryl and Erma (Chapman) Carper. Betty had resided in Ontario, Ind., for the past 35 years, coming from Sturgis. On Jan. 10, 1948, she married William Lewis in Fort Wayne, Ind. Betty was self-employed as a second-hand store operator. For many years she worked at Zickafoose Fruit Market in Sturgis and had also been employed by Michiana Container in Sturgis. She was a past member of Loyal Order of Moose #574 in Sturgis. Betty enjoyed going to the casino and was always willing to be of help to others. She had a passion and love for going to auctions and always returned home with some treasures. She is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Steven) Haney of Burr Oak and Rita (Floyd) Mast of Howe, Ind.; three sons, John (Hilde) Lewis of Sturgis, Russell Lewis of Howe, Ind., and Roy Lewis of LaGrange; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a half-sister. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two sons, Lucky Lewis and Steve Lewis; and a great-grandson, Lawrence Ultz. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis. Daniel H. “Big Dan” Colvin, Sr., age 62, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon Sept. 11, 2009, at the Sturgis Hospital emergency room. He was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Plainwell, a son of the late Quentin Franklin and Wanda June (Shurlow) Colvin. Dan had resided in Sturgis since 1963. His early life was spent in Augusta. On June 1, 1965, he married Carolyn Jenner in Augusta. Nearly all of Dan’s working life was with the Sturgis Foundry. He enjoyed working on cars, racing cars and attending auto races. Dan never met a stranger and was happiest when he was interacting with others especially over a cup of coffee. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 44 years, Carolyn; one daughter, Shawna Colvin of Sturgis;  two sons, Daniel Colvin, Jr. and Joshua Colvin, both of Sturgis; three grandchildren, Morgan Sahli of Sturgis, Emily Colvin of Three Rivers and Mariah Carls of Sturgis;  one great-grandson, Gage; three sisters, Mardie (Keith) Wilson of Kalamazoo, Marilyn (Mike) Needham of Augusta and Sue (Joe) Wittman of Kalamazoo; one brother, Melvin Colvin of Augusta and many nieces and nephews. Donna E. Zlotkowski 1949-2009 Donna E. Zlotkowski, 60, Caseville, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon after a long fight with colon cancer. Donna was born August 19, 1949 in Detroit to the late Felix and Lillian (Szostek) Skonieczny. She graduated from Detroit Pershing High School in 1967 and later completed course studies at Hamtramck Cosmetology School. On November 28, 1970 she married Stefan Zlotkowski at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Detroit. Together they settled first in Detroit, then moved to Sterling Heights. From 1981 to 1987 they lived in Kansas before moving to Caseville in 1987. Donna was well known for her work in cosmetology in the area, especially at Impressions Hair Studio. Donna was an active member of St. Roch Catholic Church, having served on parish council, as a eucharistic minister and in the Women's Society. She enjoyed dancing, being with people, and going to casinos and Las Vegas. She is survived by her husband, Stefan; daughters, Christina (Robert) Nader, Wyoming and Stephany (Steven) Wangen, DeMotte, Ind.; grandchildren, Stephen Nader, Reece and Cade Wangen; sisters, Stella (Richard) Adams, Fla. and Christina Lewandowski, Caseville; brothers, Felix (Iliene) Skonieczny, Shelby Twp. and James (Cherie) Skonieczny, Fla.; mother-in-law, Eugenia Zlotkowski, Caseville; sister-in-law, Maria (John) Kontak, Washington DC and many nieces and nephews. Frances Taffe, 85, of Hillsdale, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.  She was born January 29, 1924 in Detroit to Thomas and Jenny (Callahan) Shea.  She was married in November of 1942 to Leo Thomas Taffe and he preceded her in death in July of 1990. Frances was a graduate of Annunciation High School in Detroit and was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale.  She loved movies, swimming, fishing and ice cream.  She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.  Her favorite saying was ‘If I had it to do all over again, I would do less housework.” Frances is survived by, three daughters, Kathleen (Donald) Wieland of Ann Arbor, Mary Ann (Jim) Matthews of Mahomet, Illinois, Peggy Taffe of San Francisco, Calif..; three sons, Frank (Charlotte) Taffe of Warren, Terence (Eva) Taffe of Onaway and Timothy Taffe of Hillsdale; a sister, Kathleen Schulte of Caseville; a brother Steve (Barbara) Shea of Brighton; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Francis R. Beadle Sr. 1927-2009 Francis Roy Beadle Sr., 82, Caseville, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc of complications from a recent stroke. Francis was born May 6, 1927 to the late Darling Geogre and Frances (Nicklos) Beadle in Caseville, where he also grew up. After graduating from Pigeon High School, he sailed two seasons as a fireman on the Great Lakes. He married Thelma Rooker on August 15, 1948 at St. Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog. Together they settled in the Detroit area and raised their family while he worked at Detroit Engineering. In 1971, they moved to Hillman where he owned and operated the Avalon Bar. They moved to Caseville in 1979. He was an active member of St. Roch Catholic Church where he was a eucharistic minister. He was the charter grand knight of the Knights of Columbus #8042, a member and marshall of 4th Degree Assembly #2372, navigator of the Alpena 4th Degree Assembly #485 and a former member of the Caseville Eagles FOE #3690. Francis had served on the Caseville Fire Department and Caseville Village Council. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and he loved baseball. Jack C. Kapanka 1927-2009 Jack Calvin Kapanka, 81, Bad Axe, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born October 10, 1927 in Port Huron to the late Hugo and Iva (Bascom) Kapanka. On September 1, 1951 he was united in marriage to Donna Jean Davis, daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Davis at Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron. He enjoyed camping, hunting, boating, scuba diving and most of all spending time with family and friends. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a paratrooper. Jack was employed by Detroit Edison for 35 years before retiring in 1986. He was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe. He was the Boy Scout Master for Troop # 504 in Bad Axe for 25 years. Jack was decorated with the Silver Beaver Award and had 75 young men achieve their Eagle Scout Rank during his years as scout master. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; two daughters, Connie (Charlie) Knuth,Harrison Twp. and Karyl (Carl) Murray, Clinton Twp.; one son, Gerald (Amy) Kapanka, Cedar Falls, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, Michael (Beth) Boldt, Nicholas Boldt, Kristen and Amanda Murray, James, Nikolette, Jakilyn, and Alexis Kapanka, and Charles, Kelly and Kasey Knuth; two great-grandchildren, Camryn and Andrew Boldt; one sister, Betty (Chart) Campbell, Texas; two brothers, Robert (Rita) Kapanka, St. Clair and Roy (Nancy) Kapanka, Pa.; one brother in-law and sister in-law, Richard and Carrol Zuehlke, Royal Oak and several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by a son, Michael in 1973; one son in-law, Richard Boldt in 1998; one brother and sister in-law Don and Beverly Kapanka. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe with Rev. Kenneth Lueke, pastor, officiating. Burial took place in Colfax Township Cemetery. James E. Lantis, 71, of Litchfield, passed away Tuesday, Sept 8, 2009, at the Community Health Center of Branch County, Coldwater. He was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Bluffton, Ind., to Jerald and Madeline (Huffman) Lantis and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. James retired as a sergeant from the Michigan Department of Corrections and was an avid salmon fisherman and mushroom hunter. On July 16, 1979, he married Mary Taggert and she survives. Also surviving are daughters, Deborah Rosas, Jonesville, Susan (Scott) Ford, Vicksburg and Shannon Goheen, Coldwater; sons, Jeff Lantis, Onondaga, Bret (Michele) Lantis, Climax and Gary Rockol; mother, Madeline Lantis, Litchfield; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County. James L. Adams, Jr., age 76‚ Centreville, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at his home. He was born in Kalamazoo on July 20, 1933, a son of James L. and Thelma (Huber) Adams Sr. Jim graduated from Centreville High School in 1952 and attended Michigan State University. On May 2, 1953, he married Marilyn Stumpf in Three Rivers. Jim served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 as a tank commander for 14 months during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Three Rivers. Jim owned and operated Adams Excavating in  Centreville for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He continued to work in the business with his son, Scott, following retirement. Jim was a member of the Centreville Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 30 years and served as a village trustee from 1966 to 1977 and from 1978 until 1986 he acted as village president on the council. Jim loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, camping and working in his yard and garden. Surviving are his wife Marilyn Adams, Centreville; daughters Becky Kurtzman of Battle Creek, Lisa (John) Youga of Centreville; sons Scott (Patti) Adams of Centreville, Mark (Gaylene) Adams of Three Rivers; brother Jerry (Rosemary) Adams of Centreville; grandchildren Alecia (Todd) Flynn, James Kurtzman, Carrisa Adams, Sam Adams, Amy Adams, Adam Johnson, Michael Youga and Lyndsey Youga; great-granddaughter Gracie Flynn; four step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jamison Morton Wheeler Jamison Morton Wheeler, age 88, a longtime resident of Warren, died Monday, September 14, 2009, at St. John Macomb Hospital Center in Warren. Jim was born August 16, 1921, in Shelbyville, Tennessee the son of the late Robert Hatton Wheeler and the late Lottie (nee Jamison) Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was raised in Tennessee and graduated from Shelbyville High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II having attained the rank of Tech 5, with the 803rd Signal Corps from Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. He enlisted on August 6, 1942, at Ft. Oglethorpe and was honorably discharged on December 14, 1945, at Ft. Dix, NJ. Mr. Wheeler fought in the D-Day Invasion and five major battles from Normandy Beach to Berlin. After his military service he went to work for a pencil factory and joined the carpenters union in Shelbyville. He eventually moved to Detroit in 1946 and joined the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters where he achieved lifetime member status. When Jim was not working, his time was spent with his family. Also Mr. Wheeler was a proud member of the Lempke-Blackwell VFW Post 7573 in New Baltimore. Mr. Wheeler was predeceased by his beloved wife, Geraldine. He is the dearest father of Charlotte (the late Gary) Kurntz, Deborah (the late Thomas) Brown, and Robert Wheeler. Proud grandfather of Candi (Patrick) Debrowsky, James Wheeler, Steven Brown, Shannon (Joseph) Huizdos, and William (Amanda) Wheeler. Loving great-grandfather of Brittany Debrowsky, David Debrowsky, and Kendall Wheeler. He will also be missed by many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Visitation for Mr. Wheeler will be Wednesday from 5-9 p.m., and Thursday 2-9 p.m. at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile). She drove a school bus for the Hillsdale Community Schools for 25 years and retired in 1999. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge in Hillsdale. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. Jean Anne “Jeanie” George will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 with Pastor Clyde Wonders officiating. Joseph has been a pilot for the past 35 years, flying for Wolverine, Reliant, Kalitta, Ameristar, and Primaris Airlines.  He was an active member of the Three Rivers Free & Accepted Masons Mt. Hermon Lodge #24, and Ypsilanti Lodge #54; past member of  the Centreville Salathial Chapter #11 R & AM where he served as Past Master and High Priest;  past TIM Nebuzaradan Council #6 R & SM; past member Sturgis Columbia Commandery #18.  He was also a member of the Three Rivers Order of Eastern Star Chapter #210.  Joseph was a avid fisherman and was a corvette enthusiast. He was also a Green Bay Packer fan, and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Joseph is survived by one sister, Tomi Van Camp-Harrison (Forest Jr.) of Zanesville, Ind.; one brother, Peter Van Camp (Judy) of Mendon; one half-brother, James Earl Van Camp of Delphi, Ind.; seven nieces and nephews, Adam and Jennifer Harrison, Sarah and Megan Van Camp, Spencer Schrader, Mike Van Camp, and Melissa Morin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James in 1978, and Clova in 1987. She was surrounded by her friends and relatives when she finally lost her battle with cancer. Kathy was born on June 26, 1957, in Jackson to Harbert and Arlene (Garwood) Elliott. She graduated from Addison High School. Kathy loved her family and was a devoted NASCAR fan. The thing that made Kathy happiest was being a mom, and she will be missed by everyone she touched. Kenneth J. Norton, age 64, of Colon, passed away  unexpectedly  Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at his home. Ken was born May 29, 1945, in Coldwater, a son of the late Charles Rex and Margaret (Hawver) Norton. Ken had lived most of his life in Colon and had graduated from Bronson High School with the class of 1964. He had worked in law enforcement, starting out with the Bronson Police Department. He later worked as an officer for the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and was also Chief of Police for Colon for 17 years, retiring in 2006. Ken was currently employed at Palamino Industries of Colon. Ken had attended the Colon Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Kevin (Karen) Norton of Leonidas, Kenny (Sharon) Norton of Sturgis; Kim (Brad) Neveraski of Elkhart, Ind., J.J Norton and companion Sara of Ohio, Kelsey Norton, Shane Norton and Megan Norton, all of Colon; friend and companion Sue Ellen Snyder of Colon; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Carla K. (Brian Barnes) Norton of Kokomo, Ind., and Jo Ann (Wayne) Desness of Kalamazoo; a brother, Charles R. Norton of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Taylor Nereraski. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. She married Richard M. Vozenilek on Oct. 24, 1942 in Indianapolis, Ind., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1972. Marjorie lived her early life in Hanover Township, Illinois, then in Chicago. During her life with her husband she lived in South Bend, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Nashville, and Connersville, Ind. She settled in Michigan, first at Lake LeAnn and then for many years in the rural Hudson area. She graduated from Shurz High School in Chicago in 1940.  She went to secretarial school in Chicago, where she was then a Legal Secretary.  She worked for Dennis Jodis Law Firm in Hudson and then she was Head of Human Resources at Alsons Corporation in Hillsdale, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Rollin Friends Church , the Addison Women’s Club, various social clubs.  She was secretary/treasurer of the Lake LeAnn Property Owners Association. She always attended events of her children, grandchildren and friends. She was also a wonderful cook. Surviving are two daughters, Lynn (John) Woods of Indianapolis, Ind., Barbara Vozenilek of Lake LeAnn, two grandchildren, Erik Woods and Jason Woods, and two nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard and one sister, Lorraine. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Ken Nichols officiating.  Burial will take place in Somerset Center Cemetery, in Somerset Center.  Visitation will be from 4– 7 p.m. on Monday. (Carpenter) Robinson, 62, of  Beavercreek, Ohio passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton after a battle with cancer.   She was born in Coldwater and graduated from high school in Union City.  She was preceded in death by her father Carl Carpenter and brother Arthur Carpenter.  Nancy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rick Robinson; children Carrie Hoffmeier, Nadine Beichler, and Jeff Robinson; grandchildren Cody, Jessica, Erica, and Brooke; mother Janet Dipert; sisters Carla Lewis and Janice Mangold; and numerous other family and friends.   A memorial service will be held at the Factoryville Bible Church, 33650 Factoryville Rd., Athens at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.  A special thanks from the family to Wright Patterson Medical Center and Hospice of Dayton for providing exceptional care and allowing Nancy to pass peacefully and with dignity.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any local hospice facility. Nancy P. Nitz 1965-2009 Nancy P. Nitz, Sebewaing, 44, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at her home. She was born May 24, 1965 in Bay City, daughter of James R. and the late Patricia B. (Sigmund) Nitz. Nancy was a 1984 graduate of Unionville-Sebewaing Area High School. She had been employed for 25 years as a teacher's aide/parapro at the USA Elementary School. She also had worked for several summers as a cook at Bay Shore Camp. She truly enjoyed working with children, who knew her as "Miss Nancy" and spending time with her family and caring for her beloved dogs, Kady and Shania. She is survived by her father, James R. Nitz, Sebewaing; two sisters, Connie (Dick) Birchmeier, Flushing and Karen (Mike) Flintoft, Caro; four brothers, Mike (Ruth) Nitz, Jody (Sara) Nitz, Justin (Monica) Nitz, all of Sebewaing and Jamie (Kevin) Nitz, Essexville; her grandmother, Clara Nitz, Sebewaing; three nieces, Kristy (Larry) Dumond, New Lothrop and Kasey and Kayla Flintoft, Caro; a nephew, Maddox Nitz, Sebewaing; step-mother, Cheri Nitz, Sebewaing and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia B. Nitz, in June 2008 and three grandparents. Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Rev. William R. Wright officiated, with burial taking place in the Silverlawn Cemetery, Sebewaing. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Family Discretionary Fund. Sally was a graduate of Hillsdale High School and  a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsdale, where she served as elder and deacon.  She was a member of the Hillsdale Woman’s Club, the Hillsdale College Board of Women Commissioners, and a former member of the Hillsdale Garden Club. Besides her husband, Ed, she is survived by two daughters, Diane Eames of Hillsdale and Christine (Erik) Olson of Rochester Hills; a son, Douglas (Judy) Eames of Auburn, Ind. and nine grandchildren. Sally was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Shirley Collins. Funeral services for Sally Eames were today.  Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsdale. Mr. William J. Sides, 91, of Gaylord died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Tendercare. Mr. Sides was born in Gaylord on March 28, 1918, the son of Frank and Alice (Kaiser) Sides. He graduated from Gaylord High School in 1937 and was a member of the school's basketball team.

Wilmer Dozeman, age 95, of Holland, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Holland Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, at Niekerk Christian Reformed Church, 545 Country Club Rd., Holland, with Rev. J.
