Alvin E. Butler

Alvin E. Butler Nashville Alvin E. Butler, age 62, lost his brief but courageous battle with cancer on Friday, December 24, 2010. He was born on September 25, 1948 to Robert E. and Helen O. (Everett) Butler on the family farm in rural Nashville. He attended Nashville schools through the 3rd grade before moving to Bellevue where he graduated high school in 1966. He attended KCC and Western Michigan University. On March 4, 1971 he married Susie K. (Martens) and together they returned to the family farm in Nashville. There he followed his lifelong dream of dairy farming. He took great delight in his wife and children. He is survived by beloved wife Susie, son Jeff, daughter Emily (Joe) Mater, son Joel, father Robert Butler, sister Arlene Endsley and the joys of his life, grandchildren Shianne and Miles Butler, Abby, Jared, Travis and Julia Mater. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Butler. His passion for the Lord led to his involvement in Grace Community Church where he was a deacon. In later years he developed a fondness for farm toys and Cockshutt tractors. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 28 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Grace Community Church. Services will held on Wednesday, December 29 at 11:00 at Grace with internment immediately following at Wilcox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Future of Grace Fund at Grace Community Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, MI.

Clarence "Claro" J. Glyshaw Battle Creek Clarence "Claro" J. Glyshaw, age 50 of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Battle Creek. He was born on December 25, 1959 in Battle Creek to James C. Glyshaw and Joyce (Ward) Glyshaw. He graduated in 1978 from Lakeview High School. He was a union journeyman brick layer. He loved laughing, golf, poker and especially his grandchildren. He married Leanora Vesely on March 7, 1986 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She survives. Also surviving are his daughter Patricia (Daniel) Ryan, Joseph (Kristina) Glyshaw, Anthony KD Glyshaw, his mother Joyce M. Glyshaw and sister Rebecca Lapekas all of Battle Creek and sisters Cynthia Clark of Colorado Springs and Tamara Glyshaw of Hutchinson, Kansas.. He was preceded in death by his father James Glyshaw in 2008, his brother Kenneth in 1990 and his son Stephen Paul Glyshaw on February 16, 2005. Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Dorothea Ann Finegan Dorothea Ann (Stanley) Finegan, 72, of Bryan, Ohio, formerly of Camden, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday morning December 26, 2010 at Best Care Plus West, Marshall, Michigan. She was born January 8, 1938, in Ransom Township, Michigan in her loving parents' home to Everett and Pauline (Crow) Stanley. They preceded her in death. She was a retired elementary teacher for 44 years with 37 years at Camden-Frontier Schools. She started her teaching career in a one-room school in Albion, MI and continued at Waldron, MI, and Edon Northwest, Cooney, OH. Her career at C-F also included being a band booster, member of the Parent-Teacher Association, cheerleading advisor and scorebook keeper for the sporting events. She also co-authored a second grade spelling book. Member of the C-FEA, MEA, NEA and the MEA Reirred Teachers Assoc. She was also chosen as Teacher of the Year by her colleagues. She was also a board member of the Michigan Reading Association for the 10-County Reading Conference, Title-One Director, and Reading Recovery Instructor. She also tutored adults to learn to read. Other activities include being a Member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bryan, OH, former member of Frontier United Methodist Church, 4-H Leader for the Jolly Group Club started by her parents, and member of the Baw Beese Red Hat Society. She enjoyed storing telling to all age groups, performing with her five children in the 1970's as Mom and the 5 T's in Churches and other events. She enjoyed painting and quilting. She was a loving and devoted Mother to her five children and their families, Tamara (Seely) Finegan, Battle Creek MI, Teresa (Barney) Traylor, Hillsdale, MI, Timothy (Jackie) Finegan, Sterling Heights, MI, Thomas (Becky) Finegan of Battle Creek, MI, and Trina (John) Fryman, of Bryan, OH; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her honorary sister, Jane (Glenn) Keith of Frontier, MI. She was an only child, but she was always surrounded by extended family and friends. Funeral services for Dorothea Finegan will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Camden-Frontier School Gymnasium with Rev. Paul Scannell of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bryan, OH officiating. Interment will follow at Frontier Cemetery in Frontier. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. in the Camden-Frontier School Gymnasium. On April 24, 1982, he married the former Deborah Garrow. Mr. Culp had been employed as the Auto Operations Superintendant for the State Farm Insurance Company, Marshall Regional Office. He retired in 1997 after 42 years of service. He was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Howrani Ameen Age 69, passed away on October 2, 2010. Beloved husband of Arlene for 30 years. Loving father to Ara Howrani and Ana (Joel) Howrani Heeres. Ameen will be remembered for changing the look of photography by capturing the powerful faces of everyday people in a compelling way. He will also be remembered for his charisma and the way he touched people on a personal level. Martha "Ann" Dyas Battle Creek Martha "Ann" Dyas, 63, of Battle Creek died Friday morning, December 24, 2010 of Colon Cancer at her home with her family at her side. She was born April 25, 1947 to Donald and Grace Militzer in Kalamazoo. She graduated from Portage High School in 1965 and received her Associates Degree from KCC in 1991. She worked from 1965 to 1968 for Brown Co. in Kalamazoo, from 1965 to 1987 for Transamerica Insurance Co. and for the State of Michigan-DHS from 1987 until 2009, retiring in 2010. Ms. Dyas was a proud liberal, a devoted Democrat and fierce feminist. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and travel and she loved her family. She married Michael Dyas on September 21, 1979 and they blended their families. Surviving are her husband and best friend, Michael; her daughter, Kimberley Schwab and her spouse, Gary; her step-daughter, Michelle Cole; grandsons, Daniel Hill, Curtis Day, Jason Cole and Malcolm Cole; a granddaughter, Melissa Dyas and two great-grandsons. Also surviving are her four Militzer brothers and their spouses, David and Kevan, Steve and Sue, Paul and Jackie and Peter and Amanda. Paul Hall

Paul Hall Formerly of Kendall, MI Paul was born January 21, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Willard and Amanda Hall. As a child his family moved to Grand Junction, Michigan in 1939 Paul joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed in Raiko, Michigan in the upper peninsula. After the CCC's he joined the, and served from 1942 until the end of the was as an aviation radioman. In 1949 Paul married Barbara Porter, who pre-deceased him in 1990. They raised four children. In 1993 he married Vera Malone, who survives. Paul is also survived by two of his six siblings, Lillian Wiker of East Kentwood, MI. and Doris (Carl) Aultman of Tifton, GA. He is survived by his children: John (Sandra) of Floral City, FL., Dale of Jenison, MI., Gale (Gary) Rugg of Battle Creek, and Judi (James Kronemeyer) of Kalamazoo, his step-children Patricia (Nick) Suksdorf of Spokane, Wa. and Billy (Sarah) Malone of Inverness, FL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. A brother-in-law Richard (Donna) Porter of Battle Creek and many nieces and nephews. Paul was a dedicated family man, avid fisherman, card player and hunter. He retired from Holland Motor Express in 1980 and spent his retirement years traveling throughout the U.S. Funeral services will be held in Dunnellon, Fl. December 28, 2010, Roberts Funeral Home, Dunnellon, FL. A celebration of life will be held in Scottville, MI. in the summer of 2011. The oldest of five children, Rob loved to spend summers up north with family and friends. Summers were spent fishing and roaming the woods and fields of our beautiful state. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa. Sherry Lynn Angel Battle Creek Sherry Lynn Angel, age 53, went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2010. She died peacefully at her home in Battle Creek. Sherry was born on July 11, 1957 to Bob and Tandra (VanWormer) Angel. Sherry was the eldest of three Children. Sherry loved her family and friends more than life itself. She truly had a "heart of gold" with a personality that would light up a room. Sherry worked for many years at the Battle Creek Humane Society, CAA Franklin Center and she was also a co-founder of a local towing company. Some of her passions included reading, gardening, shopping at garage sales, sunbathing, collecting fish tanks, angel figurines and antiques. Sherry is survived by her daughter, Jessica (Gene) Fatato-Wilson of Battle Creek, a son; Tony (Angie) Fatato of Kalamazoo, her father, Bob Angel of Battle Creek, a brother: Bobby Ray Angel of Battle Creek, a nephew, Logan Angel and five grandchildren. Sherry is preceded in death by her mother, Tandra Angel and her sister, Michelle "Shelly" Angel. Sherry will truly be missed and always loved. Williams Josephine Mabel (Nee Kramer) Age 80 of Utica, died peacefully Saturday, October 2, 2010 after a 7 year battle with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her only daughter Donna (Michael) Kemper, her niece Marie (David) Vanker, and her nephews John Kramer and Raymond (Yvonne) Kramer plus several grandnieces and grandnephews.
