IWANICKI DAVID CHARLES

Left us to go back with our heavenly father after a 14 year battle with cancer. He was born in Detroit on September 24, 1948 and passed away in his home on February 18, 2009. Dave loved his life, land and family. He was always there to lend a helping hand. He valued his work ethic and loved to play golf and hunt. But nothing matched his legacy, Anna, his first grandchild. Dave is survived by his wife, Mary (Suhy) of 39 years. He has one son, Mark, his daughter-in-law, Kern and their daughter Anna, his only grandchild (so far). He is survived by his parents, Edmund and Mary (Glowniak), brothers Larry (Andrea) and Fred (Paula), 5 brothers-in-law, 7 sisters-in-law and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward and Catherine Suhy. He also has many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Dave served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years, serving one year in Thailand and had a long career as an electrician with Ford Motor Company in Sterling Heights. In the last few years his biggest joy was taking care of the light of his life, Anna. He felt that one positive thing with his cancer was that he had a chance to watch his granddaughter grow with each day and week. She is what kept him motivated over the last couple years. His family honors the memory of David and invites you to visit and share Saturday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with a rosary devotion at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish, Memphis, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Joe Horn, Fr. Dennis Nowicki, and Fr. Joseph Plawecki will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Richmond. Memorials are suggested to Masses at Holy Family or St. Augustine Catholic Church, Miles Christi, P.O. Box 701200, Plymouth, MI 48170 or to the family.
