Ashlee Nicole Drouillard Ashlee Nicole Drouillard, age 14, a lifelong resident of Roseville, died peacefully Sunday evening, November 15, 2009, surrounded by the love of her family. Ashlee was born in Clinton Township on May 9, 1995, daughter of Timothy J. and Naomi (Fowke) Drouillard. As she grew up in a loving household in Roseville, Ashlee enjoyed cheerleading and basketball. She loved to go horseback riding, swimming and playing video games. Ashlee loved spending time with her friends and enjoyed going to the mall with them. A student at Roseville High School, she lived life to its fullest. Ashlee has taught so many people about passion, courage, unconditional love and peace, that her strength through this courageous battle has made a huge impact on so many lives. A beautiful and compassionate young lady, she will be deeply missed by the many she has touched in her lifetime. Ashlee is survived by her loving and devoted parents, Timothy and Naomi; cherished sister, Emily Alice; dear grandparents, Alice and William Fowke and Donna and Roy Drouillard; beloved aunts and uncles, Sharon and Bill Fowke, Mary and Ed Fowke, Roxann and John Myroniuk, Sylvie and Chris Drouillard, Kelly Drouillard and Donna and Phil Giannini; and by her cousins, Cindy, Jenni, EJ, Sarah, Shane, Christopher, Kaitlin, Anthony, Daniel, Emme, Paul and Mikey. Barbara R. Spice, 89, of Angola, Ind., died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Northern Lakes Nursing Home in Angola. Living most of her lifetime in LaGrange and Steuben Counties, she moved to Angola in 1986 from Howe, Ind. Mrs. Spice was a homemaker and a former member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrange. Mrs. Spice was born on Oct. 2, 1920, in Steuben County to Ora B. and Ruth (Boyer) Bowerman. On Dec. 27, 1941, she married Robert J. Spice in Leesburg, Ind. Mr. Spice survives in Angola. Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Francis Richter of Ashley, Ind., and Jean and Chuck Harrell of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, John K. and Cynthia Spice of Golden, Colo.; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Meredith Richter of Holly, Dr. Joseph and Ashley Richter of Puyallup, Wash., John and Kathryn Richter of Waterloo, Ind., Grant Harrell and Spencer Harrell, both of Laguna Niguel, Jason Spice of Highland, Ind., and Jessica Spice of Arvada, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren, Amelia, Morgan, Logan, and Harrison Richter. Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother, Keith Bowerman. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Flint Cemetery in Flint, Ind. Betty graduated from Clearfield High School in 1960 and worked for Jeep Corporation in Toledo, Ohio. She was a devoted homemaker and mother who loved sewing, crocheting, painting ceramics and other handcrafts. Betty will be sadly missed by the family she loved, including her husband, Robert, whom she married July 14, 1979; two daughters, Lynnette Kast of Quincy, Rochelle (Tom) McNeil of Camden; three sons,  Richard (Cheryl) Frelin of Toledo, Ohio, John Shimp of Lansing, Todd (Stacy) Shimp of Montgomery; one sister, Sharon Frelin of Frenchville, Pa.; two brothers, Robert (Tina) Stiner of Grassflat, Pa., Mark (Brenda) Stiner of Frenchville, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the George White Funeral Home, Reading, with Pastor Don Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Reading. Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Clara Zakar of Osseo, Mich. passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at the Laurels of Coldwater in Coldwater, Mich. She was born June 24, 1920 in Smithfield, Ohio the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Madarasz) Toth. She is survived by her husband, Frank John Zakar whom she married on September 6, 1946 and she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Steve, Paul, Joe and Charlie and one sister, Mildred Scott. Clara was the last of her family. Clara loved to work outside with her flowers. She was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed going to church whenever possible. She was loved very much by her family and friends and she will be missed by all who knew her. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Clara Zakar will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale on Tuesday, November 17th beginning at 2  p.m. with Pastor Dennis Lee officiating. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom Township. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home in Hillsdale. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Ransom Congregational Church.

Don was born Feb. 11, 1936, in Wayne County, Michigan, the son of Harold and Mary (Fisk) VanEtten. Don married Viola Willnow on July 3, 1956. Don was a truck driver at Simplex for 32 years, and retired in 1994. He was an avid bowler and loved to hunt and fish.   Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Viola; three sons, Gerald (Deborah) VanEtten of Las Vegas, Christopher (Angela) VanEtten of Jerome and Dale (Linda) VanEtten of Hudson; three grandchildren, Jill, Transton and Markie; and two great-grandchildren, Skyler and Brodie. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and William; and a grandson, Jason. The funeral service for Don will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Wagley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Palmyra Cemetery. Don was born in Detroit on April 20, 1935, son of the late Adam and the late Appolonia (nee Beiber) Rey. He married June (nee Rollo) on May 15, 1954. He retired after 28 years from Chrysler, where he worked as a Tool and Die Maker. He was an avid outdoorsman, and passed on his excitement for hunting and fishing to his family and friends. Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, June (nee Rollo); brother, Joseph (Patricia); children, Timothy (Mary), Anthony (Janice), Theodore (Deborah), Terry (Nancy), Todd (Ted), Susan (Robert) Walters, Thomas (Cynthia), Troy (Kristi); 21 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence; and his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 19, 2009 from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3109 Swede Avenue, corner of East Ashman Street and Swede Avenue in Midland, Michigan. Dorothy C. Shiffler, 83, of Hillsdale, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Country Living Adult Foster Care in Hillsdale.  She was born Nov. 3, 1926 in Lucas County, Ohio to Henry and Ina (Dryer) Rothlisberger.  She was married June 29, 1947, to Wilford Shiffler and he preceded her in death in 2001. Dorothy was a 10-year employee at the Kroger Store and retired from the Hillsdale Community Health Center after 22 years of service.  She was a graduate of Pittsford High School in 1943. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsdale, a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.  She was a former Girl Scout leader in Frontier and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Hillsdale.  Dorothy was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Survivors include a daughter, Teri (Tom) Atwood of Grant, Mich.; three grandchildren, Michelle (Dustin) Wheeler, Michael (Gequittia) Atwood and Amanda (Kyle) Longcore; seven great-grandchildren also survive; a sister, Charlotte (LaVere) Dear of Osseo; three brothers, William (Hazel) Rothlisberger of Reading, Henry (Susie) Rothlisberger of Brooklyn and Bradley Rothlisberger of Statesville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and a brother. Funeral services for Dorothy Shiffler are at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Patti Beckman officiating.  Interment will follow at Frontier Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Duane served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired truck driver. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. He and his wife had belonged to the Night Owls Camping Club of Quincy. On Sept. 19, 1947 he married Florence “Kitty” (Sheerer) and she preceded him in death in 2008. Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine (Jack) Kerspilo of Reading, Cindy (Steve) Blonde of Litchfield; two sons, Mike (Judy) Bills of Litchfield, Dan (Connie) Bills of Litchfield; six sisters,  Imallee (Doug) Worden of Riga, Audrey Lattas of Hillsdale, Dollie Teller of Litchfield, Leona Katz of Coldwater, Shirley (Richard) Harrison of Jonesville, Alice (Rich) Luther of Coloma; two sisters-in-law, Jolene Bills of Jackson, Jean Bills of Litchfield; four brothers, Charles (Marcia) Bills of Jackson, Leroy (Betty) Bills of Oklahoma, George (Shirley) DePew of Homer, Jim (Mary) DePew of Jackson; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken and Robert Bills; one sister, Wanda Karney; and his step-mother, Leone Bills. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the George White Funeral Home, Litchfield, with the Rev. Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. She is held in special memory by her granddaughters whom she had a great influence on their lives. Survivors include a brother, Harry Amirkanian, and two sons, Thomas E. Walton Jr,, of Vero Beach,Fla. and John F. Walton, of Carson City, Nev. Also surviving are four granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren and niece. No services or memorial are planned at this time. Francis J. “Frank” Paduan, age 76, of Adrian, formerly of Devils Lake, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born on Sept. 1, 1933, in Calumet, Mich., to Leonard L. and Mary G. (Warrick) Paduan. He married Mary A. Smith on March 7, 1953, in Ypsilanti, Mich., and she survives. He lived his early life in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, then in Ypsilanti and Belleville, Mich., area and then at Devils Lake since 1975. Frank graduated from Roosevelt High School in Ypsilanti in 1952 and then earned an Associate’s Degree from Coyne Electrical College in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army during the period of the Korean War. He was a member of the IBEW Electrical Union Local 252 in Ann Arbor for 42 years, retiring in 1995. He was also a member of the Denton Methodist Church in Belleville for 20 years, Addison United Church for 32 years, and most recently became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian. Frank was an avid hunter and was a pilot of small planes.  Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are one son, Jeffrey D. (Jennifer) Paduan of Monterey, Calif.; three daughters, Pamela I. (David) Yarger of Clarkston, Mich., Frances J. (Jay) Brant of Devils Lake, Tonia S. (Robert) Caribardi of Ypsilanti; five grandchildren, Austin, Logan, Alexis, Olivia and Maximus. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joseph L. Paduan. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison with Pastor Joel Sarrault and Pastor Will Snyder officiating. Glen Jewl Brown, 82 of Sherwood, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Harriman, Tenn. on Feb. 2, 1927 to Raymond and Blanche (Hall) Brown. The family moved to Michigan and he entered the Klondike Country School. He graduated from Hesperia High School in Oceana County. He entered the Navy and was stationed in the Marianas Islands during World War II. Following his enlistment in the service, he attended Central Michigan University, where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Education. He then attended the University of Michigan and graduated with his Masters in Education. In 1967, he graduated from Michigan State University with his Doctoral degree in Educational Administration. He taught high school in the Muskegon Public School District. In 1966, as a professor, he began teaching at Indiana State University in educational administration. He taught for 25 years before retiring in 1990. Glen and Diane enjoyed traveling and twice spent time in Europe. During their four university sabbaticals, they spent four months each on Cape Cod with friends Sylvia and David Gardener. He is survived by his wife Diane (Milligan) of 42 years and children; son Charles (Pat) Brown of Grand Rapids, son Daniel (Amy) Brown of Sedona, Ariz., daughter Marjorie (Marc) Jacobs of Portage, son Tracy (Lori) Brown of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren: two great grandchildren; and two brothers Clyde Brown of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Edward Kolbe of Hesperia. He was preceded in death by his brother James Kolbe and a sister Helen Ruth Chase. He was a member of the Cross Roads Bible Church, a life member of N.E.A., the Exchange Club as well as holding memberships in several education organizations. After Glen retired, he and Diane moved to the Milligan Centennial Family Farm which has been in the family since 1864. Glen appreciated nature and the out of door setting on the farm. He had many friends here and truly enjoyed their friendship. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 5-8:30 p.m. at Spencer Family Funeral Home in Athens and Thursday, Nov. 19 from 1-1:30 p.m. at the Cross Roads Bible Church in Sherwood with funeral services to follow at the church at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Trent Hammond officiating. James Dickson James "Coach" Dickson, Jr., age 77, of Warren, died Nov. 15, 2009, at his home. He was born May 23, 1932, in Detroit. "Coach" Dickson served in the Korean War while enlisted in the United States Army. He retired from the Detroit Newspaper Association in November of 1989 after 35 years of service. He loved coaching baseball and football for St. Raymond's and at Wish Egan. He was born March 23, 1950, in Bryan Ohio, to Kenneth and Blanche (Dangler) Gauvey. James graduated from Reading High School in 1969 and Jackson Community College with an associate degree in electronics. He worked at Daisy Products, Hillsdale; was a hard-rock gold miner in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, California; and was also employed at Jesco Industries in Litchfield. Survivors include two sisters, Nancy Lockwood of Saline, Sue Patch-Hickman of Kalamazoo; five nephews, Jeff Lockwood of Jackson, Greg Lockwood of Georgia, Terry Troup of Florida, Chris Troup  of Oklahoma, Rodney Patch of Indiana; two nieces, Deborah Troup Urban of Florida, Amy Patch McFarland of Coldwater; and dear friends, David and Arla Watson of Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Myra Troup. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Ney, Ohio. Arrangements by George White Funeral Home, Reading.

Judy Ann Jones, age 66, of Sturgis, passed away Monday afternoon, Nov. 9, 2009, at her home, following a battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Sturgis a daughter of the late Delois and Betty Jane (Jordan) Lung. Judy resided nearly her whole life in Sturgis with the exception of 16 years when she lived in Colon. On April 15, 1958, she married Fred N. “John” Jones in Sturgis. He died Aug. 9, 1996. Judy had been employed by Olson Body in Sturgis for 17 years. She had also worked at Parma Tube and Midwest Tool and Cutlery, both in Sturgis, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafts, camping, collecting ceramic dolls, shopping and loved time with her family. She is survived by two daughters, Debra (Dave) Shipe and Dawn Casner both of Sturgis; five grandchildren, Chris Shipe, Bobbie Jo Marchand, Heather Jones, Matthew Casner and Ashley Casner; four great-grandchildren, Colin Campbell, Alex Campbell, Tyler Marchand and Cheyenne Frame; two sisters, JoAnn (Larry) Benton of Sturgis and Janet A. Lung of White Pigeon; two brothers, Jerry Allen Lung and Jeff A. (Beverly) Lung, both of Sturgis; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Shelly Mae Jones; a son, Tony Edward Jones; and three grandsons, Nicholas Jones, Brandon Casner and Ryan Casner. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Judy Jones will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Clarence Combs will officiate. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow the service. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date. Kenneth Punches, 94, of Morenci passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Tendercare Health Care Center in Adrian. He was born on Sept. 4, 1915, in Oak Shade, Ohio, the son of George and Alice (Ruhley) Punches. On July 10, 1945, in Morenci he married Rosie (Schoonover) Vernier. She preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 2002. Kenneth lived in the Morenci area all of his life where he was a member of the Morenci Church of The Nazarene. He was formerly employed at the Morenci Rubber Plant from where he retired in 1980. Kenneth was a veteran of World War II, serving from June of 1941 through September of 1945. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Darlene King of Bryan, Ohio; three stepsons, Duane (Janet) Vernier of Oklahoma, Jackie (Jeanette) Vernier of Peoria, Ill., and Devon (Virginia) Vernier of Jasper; and many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Besides his wife, Rosie, Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Joy Turner, Ila May Reckner and Goldie Hill. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with the Rev. Dennis Owens officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. There will be a visitation on Wednesday Morning from 10 a.m. until time of service. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.  Lisa worked at the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department for three years,  the Frontier Post Office as a relief Postmaster for four years and was a Hillsdale City Carrier for one year. She was also a member of the Arabian Horse Association. A graveside memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. Lisa Lou Sears-Blalock will be held at the Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ray Wilson officiating. Melvin Gerald Scheske, age 76, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away unexpectedly early Saturday evening, Nov. 14, 2009, at St. Mary’s of Michigan Hospital in Saginaw, Mich. He was born July 26, 1933, in Detroit, a son of the late Edward and Linda (Meggert) Scheske. Mel had resided in Sturgis since 1969 coming from Southfield, Michigan. He married Rita Christian in Detroit. His formal education began at Nazareth Lutheran School in Detroit and he graduated from Alpena High School with the class of 1951. Following his graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp serving during the Korean War from 1952-1955. Upon his return from the Marine Corp he enrolled at Wayne State University in Detroit receiving his bachelor of science degree in 1959. His working career began with Arthur Andersen & Co. where he became a Certified Public Accountant in 1961. He later assumed the position of controller at the Birmingham Eccentric News and in 1969 he joined the Kirsch Company in Sturgis as its chief financial officer a position he held until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement, he established a tax accounting service that he was currently operating. Mel was a very active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis where he had served as president, treasurer, usher and greeter. Prior to that he had taught Sunday school in inner-city Detroit. He was a longtime member of the Sturgis Kiwanis Club where he had served as treasurer for many years and was a member of B.P.O.Elks #1381. He was a past member of the First National Bank, Citizens Bank, Glen Oaks Foundation, Sturgis Hospital and Junior Achievement Board of Directors. Mel was the very proud sponsor of the Scheske Open which was founded in 1977. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita; four sons, Terence (Julia) Scheske of Tupelo, Miss., Ronald (Beth) Scheske of Sturgis, Dean (Peg) Scheske of Canton and Eric (Marie) Scheske of Sturgis; 18 grandchildren, Laura, Greg, Pam, Matthew (Melissa), Brett, Kate, Dan, Christian, Nicholas, Rachel, Alex, Abbie, Jack, Michael, Meg, Erin, Therese and Max; one great-grandson, Andrew; one brother, Vernon (Jan) Scheske of Waco, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. His parents and two brothers, Alvin Scheske and Eldon Scheske preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes - Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, (269) 651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of Melvin Scheske will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Michael Klafehn and the Rev. Calvin Kolzow will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donation in Mr. Scheske’s memory be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 S. She was born September 14, 1942, in Detroit, the daughter of the late Chester and Matilda (Thelan) Laabs. Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a longtime member of St. Clement Parish, Center Line, and current member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond. She was a previous member of the Metropolitan Club Woman's Auxiliary Spirit #22 as well as its past treasurer. Patricia was employed by Standard Federal Bank and retired after 15 years. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Carol of Richmond; grandchildren, Niki and Steve; brother, Chester Laabs of Richmond Township; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Katherine. Raymond Alex Kranz, D.D.S., age 64, of Quincy, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at his home.   He was born Aug. 1, 1945 in Bad Axe, Mich., the son of Edward and Agnes (Wencley) Kranz.  Ray grew up in Harbor Beach and graduated from St. Peter & Paul High School in Ruth, Mich.  He joined the seminary and furthered his education at Wayne State University and the University of Detroit Dental School.  In 1973 he moved to Quincy where he practiced dentistry until retirement in 2006.  Ray was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Coldwater, the Quincy Rotary Club, Michigan Dental Association, Charley Lyon Loan Foundation, and the Quincy Chamber of Commerce.  He also enjoyed filled his leisure time with golfing, bowling and traveling to National Parks. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo (Huber) Kranz, whom he married July 30, 1971; two daughters, Katherine Kranz, Denver, Colo., Amy Kranz, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Janet (Richard) Gough, Deckerville, Mich., two brothers, Ronald (Frances) Kranz, Romeo, Mich., his twin,  Dr. Richard (Ilene) Kranz, Battle Creek, Mich. and one grandchild, Keegan Kranz His parents preceded him in death. A memorial service is at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Coldwater, with the Rev. Dan Doctor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Quincy Rotary Club or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Ave., Ste #7000, El Segundo, CA  90245. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1941 and was a World War IIveteran serving in the Navy in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. He owned the Pryofax Gas Co. and was an automobile salesman for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #381 and a member of St. Gaspers Catholic Church. He also served as director of the Adams Lake Conservation Club for 40 years. On June 10, 1948, he married Alice Tieman, who preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 1981. On Oct. 10, 1991, he married Kathleen Schneider. She preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2005. Ricie is survived by two sons, Jack Tuckerman of Adrian and Curtis (Diane) Tuckerman of Morenci; a daughter, Darlene Bender of Adrian; a brother, Bruce (Lois) Tuckerman; 17 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Tuckerman; two sons, Larry and Tom Tuckerman; a son-in-law, Lee Bender; three grandchildren, Kelly Tuckerman, Todd Tuckerman and Shawn Jeffords; and two brothers, Donald Tuckerman and Oat Tuckerman. Sybil was born on Sept. 27, 1930 in Valley, Ala. to Walter and Leah (Bishop) Potts. She married Wally Marks on Nov. 22, 1975. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1988. Sybil graduated from Valley Vocational High School in Valley, Ala., in 1949, where she studied business.  She moved to the Detroit area in 1952, where she had worked as an accountant for Ex-Cello and then Chrysler, where she was proud to be one of the first female accountants. In 1987 Sybil, and her husband Wally, came to Bronson to enjoy their time together on Matteson Lake. Mrs. Marks was an active member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Sturgis. She had a great love of music, writing songs and playing guitar at many different churches. She also enjoyed speaking at many churches, giving her life testimony. Sybil is survived by her sister Bobby A. Potts of Valley, Ala., her adopted family whom she lived with for many years, Julie and Joseph Burger of Bronson, her very special grandchildren, Ragen Jordan, Aaron Jordan, Morgan and Emily Burger.
