ALBERT L. MCCOON MARLETTE Albert L. McCoon passed away peacefully among family and friends Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Marlette Hospice House. He was born August 18, 1929 in Fairgrove, son to the late James B. and Edith (Sangster) McCoon, and lived in Marlette since early childhood. He was a life-long resident of Tuscola County. He married Naomi Crisan on his birthday, August 18, 1951 in Bad Axe and they raised five wonderful children. They owned and operated a dairy farm in the Marlette area and were members of the Tuscola County Retarded Children's Association. He drove bus for Marlette Schools for over 30 years and also drove for the Marlette Athletic teams for most of that time. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his sons; Robert McCoon of Davie, Florida, Donnie McCoon of Marlette and Allen McCoon of Marlette, daughter; Deborah (Don) Bonwell of Rogers, Arkansas, grandchildren; Chase and Kendra Bonwell of Rogers, Arkansas and Tony Bonwell of Warren, Michigan, sisters; Linda Gomes of Marlette, Carole Dalrymple of Flint, Sister-in-law; Johanna McCoon of Marlette and many special nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death in October by his wife of 57 years, Naomi his daughter; Janet, his parents, his brothers; Robert and Jack McCoon and sister Joyce Cook. ARDATH E. MALTBY MARLETTE Ardath E. Maltby, age 96, of Marlette, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Marlette Extended Care Facility in Marlette. Mrs. Maltby lived in Marlette with her daughter Joan and was previously from the Flint area. She was born August 12, 1912 in Reed City, daughter to the late Louis and Betsy (McLachlan) McDonald. She married John McKay in 1935 who was an instructor at GMI for 20 years, he died in 1967. She then married Earl Maltby in 1974. He was a CPA at Dupuis & Ryden for 35 years and he died in 1993. Ardath was an elementary principal in the Flint School District for 29 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Michigan Retired School Personnel and Community Presbyterian Church in Flint. She enjoyed reading , gardening and most of all, her family. She is survived by her daughter; Joan Jensen of Marlette, son; Charles (Sandra) McKay of Swartz Creek, brother; Eldon (Elayne) McDonald of Kaleva, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother Donald McDonald and sisters; Katherine Williams and Alta Shore. Ardath had a beautiful Christian life, full of sunshine and cheer, dispensing comfort and consolation wherever she went. She will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know her. Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. An Army Veteran of the Korean War, Charles worked at Larson’s Garage in Jasper, Mich. He then owned and operated his own service station in Adrian before finally working as a welder repairman for Ford Motor Company in Woodhaven, retiring in 1991.  Charles is survived by his four daughters: Teresa (Dale) Hayford of Monroe, Linda (Robert) Shipman of LaSalle, Charlene (Foster) Schmitt of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Edith (Lonnie) Poupard of Belleville. Donald L. Booher, 77, of North Adams, Mich. passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 at the Community Health Center of Branch County. He was born Dec. 23, 1931, in Hudson, Mich., the son of George and Lucile (Laubaugh) Booher. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one sister, Luella (Don) Ladd of Jerome and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Booher was a life-long resident of North Adams and he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Michigan Highway Department – Lenawee County Division after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the Jackson Outdoor Club and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was also an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Donald L. Booher will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in North Adams at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Paul Pickell officiating. Interment will take place in the Pease Cemetery in North Adams. Donald L. Brewer, age 78, of Jonesville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility.  He was born Aug. 13, 1930 in Detroit to John and Loretta (Jacques) Brewer. He was married Nov. 8, 1955 to Iris Major and she survives. Don was self-employed in the auto industry. He was a graduate of Quincy High School in 1950, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Surviving besides his wife Iris are four daughters Lee (James) Barve of Quincy, Jolie (James) Graves and Jamie (Randy) Brooks, both of Jonesville, and Monique (Curt) Sarles of Hillsdale; son Paul (Cammie) Brewer of Fla.; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister Loretta Marie (Robert) Knox of Fla.; and a sister-in-law Lillie Brewer of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial mass for Don Brewer on Saturday, Jan.10, 2009, at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale with Fr. Ioane Sigarara as celebrant. A homemaker, Dorothy was employed by Stauffer Walker Chemical Co., of Detroit, for 27 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church, and loved gardening, travel, casinos, bowling, knitting, and being with her family. Douglas Lee Wolf, age 39, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away unexpectedly onWednesday morning, Dec. 31, 2008, at his home. He was born March 17, 1969, in Kalamazoo, Mich., a son of the late Lewis and Dorotha (Brown) Wolf. Doug had resided in Sturgis for the past four years, coming from Centreville,  where he graduated from Centreville High School with the class of 1987. On Oct. 9, 2004, he married Annette Casner at the Church of God in Three Rivers. Doug had been employed by Coachman Industries in Middlebury, Ind., for several years. Prior to joining Coachman he had worked for Viking Industries in Centreville, Dutch Housing in LaGrange, Ind., and Victorian Homes. He was a member of the Church of God in Three Rivers and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and doing gunsmith work. Doug had a true love and appreciation for nature and the outdoors and often went to the woods to just sit and watch and listen to nature. He is survived by his loving wife, Annette; a stepdaughter, Rachel Clewell, at home; a sister, Sue (Tim) Barnes of Vicksburg; four brothers, Ken Wolf of Colon, Don (Cyndi) Wolf of Three Rivers, Roy Wolf of Colon and Jay (Debbie) Wolf of Three Rivers; and many nieces and nephews. Edwin R. “Bob” McKnight, Jr., 80, of Pittsford, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 at Kison’s Country Care Home in Hudson. Bob was born on Aug. 9, 1928, in Belleville, Mich., the son of Edwin R. and Mildred (Gilbert) McKnight, Sr.  He graduated from Pittsford High School in 1946.  He farmed while taking classes at Hillsdale College where he earned his B.S. in 1963. He later received his Master’s in Education at Eastern Michigan University.  He taught the sixth grade for the Reading school system until his retirement in 1990.  Bob married Maridell Gorringe on March 31,1984, in Owosso.  She survives.  Together they opened Needles and Threads in 1989.  Bob loved quilting as he has quilted more than 2,000 quilts.  He also enjoyed talking and visiting as Bob never met a stranger. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hudson and the Michigan Educational Association. Surving besides his wife, Maridell are his children, Marlene Ann (Rick) Walker of Edmore, Donald Graham (Emma) McKnight of Henderson, Sarah Patrice McKnight of Hillsdale, Jennifer Lee (Bill) Bavin of Montrose, Colo., Robert V. Elnora L. Diehl Whittemore, MI Elnora Lilith (Lawrence) Diehl (Formerly of Lapeer, MI) passed away on (December 29, 2008) went home to the Lord peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital in East Tawas, MI. She was born Sept. 19, 1915 and married June 10, 1932 to Hugh Jesse Diehl. Mrs. Diehl was a foster grandparent for many years. She also taught at Lapeer East High School for many years in the Special Education Department, taking great pride in her work. She retired from Riverbend Nursing Home as a nurse's aide. She is survived by brother, Clarence "Bud" Lawrence; daughters, Lenore De Clue, Phyllis Sasser (Al), Lori Majchrowski (Stanley); and more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Jesse; daughter, Mabel DeClue; son, Claude Diehl; and sister, Ruth Bailey. Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation. Eloise Seay Clark, age 80, passed away on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Bixby Medical Center.  She was born May 14, 1928, in Logan, West Virginia, the daughter of Herbert and Virginia (Skaggs) Snow. Eloise grew up traveling and lived in several states during her youth. She moved to Adrian in 1946, and made it her permanent home. She graduated from the Lois School of Cosmetology in 1971. She enjoyed painting, making crafts, playing cards, going to Burger King with her friends, and dancing. On Oct. 22, 1981, Eloise married Raymond Clark in Adrian and he survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Sherri (Steve) Kelemen of Onsted and Renee (Geoffrey) Dennis of Adrian; seven grandchildren, Michael (Jackie) Lolley, Michelle (Keith Tennant) Rutherford, Ashley Dennis, Kaitlin Dennis, Jordan Dennis, Brittany Dennis and Emerson Dennis; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Kimberly Lolley and Joseph Tennant. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Rosalie Chapman; her former husband, Troy Eugene Seay; two great-granddaughters, Jennifer and Kayla; and a special cousin, Clarence Payton. GARTH FREDERIC ENDERS SANDUSKY Garth Frederic Enders, age 65, of Sandusky, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at McKenzie Memorial Hospital in Sandusky, Michigan. He was born May 8, 1943 in Capac, Michigan the son of the late Frederic and Francis (Jurn) Enders. He was a 1961 graduate of Capac High School, and attended Michigan State University. Garth married Dorene Burgett on February 23, 1985 in Ruby, Michigan. He was a District Manager for K-Mart for many years. He also worked at the Port Huron Times Herald and then at Eagle Window & Doors in Lewiston, MI. He is survived by his wife Dorene, daughter; Dianna Enders of South Carolina, son; Daniel Enders of Texas, stepsons; Todd Hurlburt of Algonac, Phil Hurlburt of St. Clair, Steven Hurlburt of Adrian, stepdaughter; ReaAnn Ready of Birch Run and8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son David Enders in 1990. Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Memorial services were held at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Sandusky with Rev. Garry L. Britton, 73, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, January 1, 2009, at his home in Hillsdale.  He was born Jan. 5, 1935 in Ransom Township to Hugh and Bessie (Williams) Britton.  He was raised on the corner  of Burt Road and M-99 at Brittons Gray Gables. From his first marriage to Joyce Lyon Wilson he has two daughters, Linda (Rob) Cronkhite, Buckeye, Ariz., and Connie (Dennis) McDowell, Osseo,; three sons, Garry E. (Charlott) Britton, Camden ,John Britton and James (Sheila) Britton, Osseo. On Sept. 20, 1975 he married Patricia (Lown) Southwell and from this marriage he was blessed with six step-children, Rickey (Eve) Southwell, Kokomo, Ind., Kenneth (Angele) Southwell, Elmendorf, Texas, Gary Lee (Sheila) Southwell, LaGrange, Ind., Victoria Landis, Orland, Ind. and Joy Garr, Hillsdale.  Joy was his right hand person during his illness.  He considered her and all his step-children as his.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leland and a step-son Christopher Southwell. Garry retired from Metalloy Foundry after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Fayette Street Church of Christ. He enjoyed camping and spent six years as a seasonal camper at Tri-Lake Trails Campground in Marshall. He had a woodshop at home until his health no longer allowed it. Funeral services for Garry Britton will be  11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5 at the Fayette Street Church of Christ with Darwin Fretenborough,minister officiating.  Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Jefferson Township.   The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday from 2-6 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home, 40 S. Geraldine “Gerry” Harris, age 87, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Lynwood Manor. She was born May 21, 1921, in Adrian, to Walter and Agnes (Bussing) Lerch. On June 22, 1940, she married David G. Harris.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1990. Geraldine was employed with Elias Brothers Restaurant for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Palmyra Stitch and Chatter club. Her survivors include three sons, Patrick D. Harris and his wife,  Joanne, Paul W. Gertrude Rhoda Upper North Branch Gertrude Rhoda Upper, age 94, of North Branch (formerly of Lapeer), passed away Monday (December 29, 2008). She was born September 19, 1914 on the Graff farm on Perry Road in Grand Blanc to Leopold and Myrtle (Robinson) Sharland. She married Harold Upper on October 1, 1936 in Goodrich, MI, they had been married 54 years when he died in 1991. Gertrude graduated from Goodrich High School in 1932 and attended her 76th class reunion in 2008. Harold and Gertrude moved to Lapeer in 1939. Mrs. Upper was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Suncrest Auxiliary, and was a 4-H leader for many years. She loved to play cards, especially euchre and canasta, and had a special way with dogs and cats. Mr. and Mrs. Upper traveled extensively, her apple pies were extraordinary. She was born Nov. 3, 1983, in Sturgis, a daughter of Lonnie and Carolyn (Roberts) Rowe. Holly had resided in Sturgis most of her life, with the exception of the year she lived in Portage, Mich. She had been employed by WMSH Radio Station in Sturgis. Holly graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 2002 and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Glen Oaks Community College. Holly was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis and had a true talent in art and theater. She loved animals, especially her cats. Surviving are: her mother, Carolyn Beardsley of Sturgis; father, Lonnie (Shirley) Rowe of Elkhart, Ind.; two sisters, Tammy (Gary) Shoemaker of Northfield, Ohio, and Anna (Gary) Sizemore of Sealy, Texas; a brother, Craig (Nancy) Rowe of Sturgis; grandmother, Geneva Roberts of Sturgis; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Beardsley. The family will receive friends from 2-3:45 p.m. Sunday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes–Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Irena M. Pierson, 93, of Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1915, in Clare, to Benjamin and Emma (Stoddard) Cooper.  She was married June 25, 1934, to Robert Pierson and he preceded her in death in 2001. Irena was a graduate of Ann Arbor High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during World War II. She is survived by two daughters, Diana (Kurt Compeau) Pierson of Hillsdale and Beth (Bill) Kastler of New Baltimore; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides her husband Robert, she was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers. Cremation has taken place at Irena’s request. JOSEPH D. BULONE PORT SANILAC Joseph D. Bulone, age 86, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at home in his own bed surrounded by the love of his children and their spouses. He was born November 15, 1922 in Cleveland Ohio, son of the late Domenico and Domenica DiDomenico Bulone. He married Frances E. Hendricks on June 14, 1952 in Birmingham. She died December 20, 1999. Joseph served in the Pacific Theatre in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during WW II. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He worked on the design staff at the G.M. Tech Center and he was a founding member of the Port Sanilac Fine Arts Association. Joe was one of the most prolific and respected professional painters and sculptors in southeastern Michigan. His 60 year career, which included many Best of Show awards earned well into his 80's, brought him recognition as one of the finest landscape and seascape artists of his time. His favorite subjects were Lake Huron sunrises and the Port Sanilac lighthouse. In his leisure time he was a Detroit Tigers fan and never gave up on the Lions. He enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens and his homemade meatloaf was legendary. Surviving are his children; Vincent M. of Oak Park, Daniel J. of Memphis, TN, Cathi (Bryan) Bulone-Campbell of Port Sanilac, Helen M. Bulone of Portland, OR, and Maria (David) Kujat of Lexington, three brothers; Tony of Meridian, ID, Mike of Cleveland, OH and Rego of Anaheim, CA, one sister; Virginia Bulone of Fullerton, CA, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Angelo, Dominic and Louis. Funeral services were held at the Museum Church at the Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum in Port Sanilac with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial was in Old St. Mary Cemetery. She is now resting with her Lord and is pain-free after years of suffering from Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and CREST Syndrome as well as other ailments. Janis was born March 8, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio. She was a graduate of Blissfield High School and attended the University of Redlands and Adrian College. She was Secretary for the First United Methodist Church in Adrian before moving to Arizona in 1986 because of the CREST Syndrome. She had retired as Financial Secretary of Dayspring United Methodist Church in Tempe, Ariz., three years ago when the PAH was first diagnosed. She greatly loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the rest of her family. She also loved flower gardening, sewing, sports and beating her friends in cards. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Parker Tagsold, Sr. of Blissfield. Janis is survived by her husband, Jim; three children, Julie Hoenig of Chandler, Ariz., Joy (Mike) Fitzpatrick of Chandler and Jeff (Lisa) Hoenig of Superior Township, Mich.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Parker (Pat) Tagsold, Jr. of Blissfield, and sister, Marilyn (Norton) Hatfield of Valley Center, Calif. Janis and Jim celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. At Janis’s request, her body has been donated to the University of Arizona College of Medicine for research. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 11, at 3 p.m. at Dayspring United Methodist Church. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the memorial service. The family has requested that memorials be given in Janis’s name to the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Association or the Tagsold/Hawkins Scholarship Fund at Adrian College. Jose DeLeon Trevino, age 81, of Adrian died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jose was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Seguin, Texas, to Ermenejildo and Tiburcia (DeLeon) Trevino. On Jan. 15, 1956, he married Benina Ojeda in Adrian, and she survives. Jose was employed by Tecumseh Products, retiring in March 1991. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and family gatherings. Surviving Jose, in addition to his wife, Benina, are three sons, Joel Trevino and his wife, Loretta, of Brigham City, Utah, Abel Trevino and his wife, Shayna, of Adrian, and Ruben Trevino and his wife, Christine, of Sylvania, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Parr and her husband, Allan, and Barbara Glisson and her husband, Jeffery, all of Adrian; a sister, Mary Hernandez of Adrian; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Jose in death were his parents, several brothers and sisters and a son. Kathryn A. Wassman 1950-2008 Kathryn A. Wassman, 58, Harbor Beach, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 at her home in Harbor Beach, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Mt. Clemens on October 22, 1950, the daughter of the late Alois and Shirley (Yax) Cukr. Kathy and Doug Wassman were united in marriage on June 6, 1970 in Mt. Clemens. She was an employee of Chemical Bank in Harbor Beach and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Harbor Beach. Kathy enjoyed scrap booking, gardening and spending time with her family. To all who knew her, she was a beautiful person, both inside and out, and she will be sadly missed. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Wassman, Harbor Beach; a son, Cameron (Susan) Wassman, Mt. LaFonda M. Knowles, age 93, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at her home. No services will be held at this time. Interment of ashes will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy at a later date. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home. LaFonda was born on March 15, 1915 in Coldwater to Charles and Margaret (French) Lindsey. She married Herman Knowles on Oct. 20, 1935 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2008. LaFonda has been a lifelong resident of Branch County. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Community Health Center and for many years at the former Coldwater Regional Center, from which she retired in 1975. LaFonda enjoyed square dancing belonging to the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club, and enjoyed traveling; wintering in Florida with her husband, reading, learning new things and all sorts of puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her family. In addition to her husband Herman, LaFonda was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Radebaugh in 2006 and her brother George Lindsey. Mildred Lois Renner, 84, of Ligonier, Ind., passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at the Life Care Center in LaGrange.  She was born June 23, 1924, in Noble County to Carl and Nellie (Barkley) Schlemmer.  On March 21, 1948, she married Harold O. Renner at the Burr Oak Church outside of Ligonier. Mr. Renner passed away on April 3, 1977.  Mrs. Renner was the Ligonier City Clerk for 12 years and worked at the Ligonier Library for many years. She was the bookkeeper for her husband's business, H.O. Renner Well Drilling and Renner Sanitation Service, both of Ligonier.  A graduate of the International Business College of Ft. NELSON L. DUNLAP DECKERVILLE Nelson L. Dunlap, age 93, of Deckerville, died Tuesday December 23, 2008 in Autumnwood of Deckerville. He was born August 20, 1915 in Palms, the son of the late Andrew and Wilhelmina (Lietke) Dunlap. He married Miss. Evelyn Baumeister on April 15, 1944 in Deckerville, after 62 years of marriage she preceded him in death on April 18, 2006 Nelson was a member of the VFW and American Legion, Gideon's International, a past Boy Scout Explorer Leader, and was active in 4H and a long time member of the 1st Baptist Church. He was employed by Eaton Mfg, before entering the US Army, which he served from 1941 to 1945, in North Africa, Italy, and Sicily, earning a Silver Star. After WWII he worked for the Kroger Grocery Stores. He then learned the carpenter trade from Lee Vincent, and later started Dunlap Builders, where he was a noted home builder and cabinet maker. He is survived by one son Richard (Karen) Dunlap of Deckerville, two daughters, Gaye (Steve) Bauer of Faribault, MN., and Karen (Joe) Allen of Sandusky, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Also, three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Marion (Stanley) Dunlap, Mrs. Florence (Floyd) Baumeister, and Mrs. Carol (Don) Baumeister. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy, five brothers and three sisters Nelson L. Dunlap's "Legacy of Life" service will be 11:00 AM., Saturday in the Apsey Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Castle of Countryside Free Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8:00 PM., Friday, and from 10:00 AM., Saturday until the time of service. He married Diana Stites on March 25, 1983, and she survives. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Paul had been employed by General Motors and was also a part-time farmer. Stephen L. Bilby, 58, of North Adams, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at the Hillsdale Community Health Center.  He was born April 21, 1950, in Hillsdale to Harold and Erma (Gamber) Bilby. He was married Nov. 22, 1975 to Linda Northrup and she survives. Steve was a former employee of Hillsdale Tool, retiring in 2005.  He was a graduate of Hillsdale High School in 1969 and resident of this area all his life. William Dale Mallow, age 84, a well-known Bronson, Mich. area farmer, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at  Sturgis Hospital.  He had been in failing health. Dale was born March 5, 1924, in Noble Township, a son of Clint and Maude (Roberts) Mallow, was a lifelong resident and graduated from Burr Oak High School.  He first married Dorothy Monroe.  She died in 1946.  He then married Marion (Foss) King on March 12, 1951, in Angola, Ind.  She died July 16, 2003. Dale was a member of the Branch County Farm Bureau, served on the Branch County Road Commission for several years and was a member of the Board of Directors of the former First of America Bank in Bronson.  He was also a buyer for Westfall Stock Yards for many years. Dale so enjoyed farming that he considered raising cattle as a hobby. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Ruth Mallow and Leslie and Carole Mallow, all of Bronson; stepson and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Thelma King of Bronson; grand children, Jim Mallow and Kim Coney; step-granddaughters Brenda Bennett of Bronson, Lori Winchell of Charlotte, S. William R. Frase Adrian William R. Frase, Sr., age 75, of Adrian, passed away Friday, (December 26, 2008) at Bixby Medical Center. Bill is survived by his former wife, Geraldine Frase of Brooklyn and their children, William (Cindy) Frase, Jr. of Farmington, NM, Shelly (Gary) Markiewicz of Brooklyn, Sharon (James) Ragan of Morenci, Laurie (Jack Minster) Frase of Adrian and Lisa Frase of Albuquerque, NM; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, John Wahles and Edward Frase, both of Flint, and David Frase of TN; and two sisters, Geraldine Reasoner and Helen Calhane, both of Flint. He was preceded in death by sisters, Carrie, Dora and Bernadine, and one brother, Howard. Those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Bill may direct their gifts to the DAV Building Fund.
