JEANGUENAT RAY |
Age 84. Growing up in Detroit during the Great Depression, Ray Jeanguenat developed the resolve and determination which served him so well in facing and conquering life's many challenges. A gifted student-athlete, he attended St. Joseph's High School, where he graduated as salutatorian in 1942. One of his greatest thrills during that time was playing in a sandlot baseball championship at Tiger Stadium. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific campaign, seeing combat at Okinawa, Pelileu and Green Island. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Shortly after returning home, he enrolled at Lawrence Institute of Technology, attending evening classes for six years. In 1952, he became the first member of his family to graduate from college, earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. During that same time, he established B & R Plumbing and Heating with his brother Bud. They successfully installed plumbing and heating systems for commercial and residential construction for thirty years, before retiring to a life of family activities, golf and walleye fishing. He particularly enjoyed time spent with his four grandchildren, watching their growth and development and taking great pride in their many achievements. He was also an active member of Lochmoor golf club and scored three holes-in-one during his membership (which, as his many golfing friends know, he also took great pride in). Ray passed on to eternal life peacefully, at his home, after a short illness. He is survived by his daughter Daryl (Ron) Dawes; son Bob (Mary) and his grandchildren John (Elizabeth) Jeanguenat; Julia Jeanguenat; Anna Jeanguenat; and Andrew Jeanguenat.
