He was past master of Army-Navy Masonic Lodge and past president of Gowanie Golf Club. "The Game of Life and Golf." When you stand on the first tee of life ready to start your play, you should have several objectives in mind: Know and play by the rules of the game. Try to have the right equipment or make up for your shortcomings with extra effort. Play the ball with your identification on it. Stay within bounds and in your fairway. When you come to life's hazards on each hole, play through, over or around each hazard, but keep an accurate score of that hole in your final total. Your scorekeeper is watching. There really are no "gimme" putts in this game, every stroke should be made and counted. When you play your final round, you will know you gave it your best and honest effort. Shoot for par, you will have some bogies, accept your birdies and be surprised at your eagles and aces. Look up at the great scorekeeper after you hole out on the final hole, and say "How did I do in this round?" He will reply, "Come into the clubhouse and we will total up, but I'm sure you're the winner." A memorial service will be held at a future date.
