(Ryle) Harrison and graduated from Spring Arbor High School in 1951. Doug was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea, and had been employed at Walker Muffler in Jackson. He is survived by sister, Elaine Benn Dimondale; brothers, Keith (Connie) Harrison of Arizona, Richard (Shirley) Harrison of Jonesville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the George White Funeral Home, Litchfield, with the Rev. Edward Knauss officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Mosherville Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Baptist Church, Somerset, or The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Ave., NW, Grand Rapids, MI  49505.

Dorothy M. Reinoehl age 99, of Leonidas, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. Dorothy was born Dec. 14, 1910, in Leonidas, a daughter to the late Ernest and Hannah (Lyster) Bennett. She had lived all of her life in Leonidas, graduating from Colon High School with the Class of 1928. She had spent her winters in Florida since the 1940s. She enjoyed music and performing in a dance band, where she met her husband Clarence Michael (Ike) Reinoehl. Together they owned and operated a fruit farm, they also operated a popcorn stand at Galesburg Speedway and a taffy business at many county fairs, which is still in operation. Dorothy is survived by one son, Randy Michael Reinoehl and wife Victoria of Sturgis; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; one infant son, Robert; and a brother, Ralph Bennett. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy M. Reinoehl will be Saturday morning Dec. 19, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Klafehn of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Sturgis officiating. Burial will follow at Leonidas Cemetery in Leonidas. If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Dorothy to the St. Joseph County Grange Fair. Jan. 25, 1938-Dec. 16, 2009 Floyd "Doc" Ostrom, 71, of Coleman passed away Dec. 16, 2009 doing what he loved, hunting Mountain Lions in Utah. He was a chiropractor in Midland for 30 years and truly loved what he did for a living. Chiropractic medicine was the second career for him. He was originally from Flushing and graduated from General Motors Institute in 1961. He worked as an Engineer for GM and Ford for around 15 years before heading out west to live in Big Piney, Wyoming. He had a service station out there for a few years and then went back to school at Logan College of Chiropractic. He started his practice in Midland in 1979 and he lived there with his wife Paula who he married June 10, 1978. He lived in the same building that he practiced in for 4 1/2 years before moving to Coleman. He built his own house with his own two hands and designed his own natural solar house. He was a member of the Estey Eagles and was in charge of scheduling the Tuesday golf outings.

He was an avid walker, outdoorsman, and lover of life. Ed enjoyed bargain hunting at the local stores. Everyone loved his unique gifts at the Holidays. Ed was one of a kind, he will truly be missed by his loving family and all who knew him. According to Ed's wishes a simple service is planned. He is survived by his sister Rosemarie (Jack) Matthews. He was the uncle of Sharon (Robert) Schulte and the late Denise Roberts, great-uncle of Jennifer (Chris) Simone and Scott (Kimberly) Schulte and great-great-uncle of Ericson and Griffin Simone. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII. He retired after 25 years with the Detroit Police Department and 15 years with the U. S. Postal Service Security. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Men’s Club and the Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife Bridget, he is survived by a daughter, Janice (R. Harris) Russo of Kalamazoo; a son, Tim G. Kalinowski of Scottsdale, Arizona; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Francine Blackmer; two sisters, Josephine Piontek and Helen Brock and a brother, Al Kelly. Memorial services for Frank J. Green on April 20, 1946, in Addison. She preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2008. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army and retired shift commander from the State Prison of Southern Michigan in Jackson. He was a two-time president of the Beverly Hills Lions in Florida and a lifetime member of the American Legion.  Surviving are his son, James R. Bradley of Marion, daughter, Lynne M. (Thomas) Bradley-Horan of Sparta, and sister, Edna Mae (Park) Gregory of Belleville. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister, Elizabeth (Charles) Chaffin. Cremation has taken place. Geraldine E. Cox, 94, of Bryan Care & Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of Hillsdale, went to be with Jesus Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. She was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Amboy Township, north of Pioneer, Ohio, to William and Mildred (Hubbard) Robison. she married Leon Cox Nov. 29, 1935, in Pioneer and he preceded her in death May 11, 1999. Geraldine lived her married life in Waldron before moving to the Medical Care Facility in Hillsdale at the age of 87. She was previously employed by the Avon Co. for several years, and worked at Kustom Fit in Pioneer where she retired from. Geraldine graduated from Waldron High School in 1934. She loved working for the Lord, gardening, camping, fishing, watching birds from her kitchen window, loved cooking and canning, in which she always seemed to have some to share! Geraldine held Good News Club in her home for many years, and led many children to the Lord through her teachings on the Bible. She gave music lessons, taught Sunday school class, both youths and adults. She often would find time to help young mother’s with Bible study in her home. She was a member of the WCTU, Women’s Missionary Society, Munson United Brethren Church, church pianist for years and loved playing her saw whenever asked, manager of the Waldron Kountry Kitchen band and loved going to nursing homes and putting on programs for the residents. She said “just to see them smile” was worth it all! Before moving to the Bryan Rehab Center she was very active in the Hillsdale nursing home and dearly loved playing for the SonShine Singers. Surviving Geraldine are three daughters, Margaret (Jim) Gunder of Waldron, Audrey (Richard) Andrews, Marilynn (Robert) Frank all of Bryan, Ohio; brother, John (Joan) Robison of Ney, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was a blessing to many, and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Lawrence, William, Paul and Arthur Robison; and granddaughter, Paula Brandeberry. Guy Sheldon Gillin, age 81, of Manitou Beach passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at home under the care of hospice and his family. He was born March 14, 1928, in  Conemaugh, Pa., the son of Merton and Jennie (Sensabaugh) Gillin. Guy married Alma Jean Coy  on Aug. 27, 1948. She preceded him in death on  Oct. 14, 2009. Guy began his working career at Tecumseh Products and later worked for Adrian Oil Burner, Lundy Heating and AC and Naugle Heating and Plumbing.  Guy was a very gentle and kind man, a loving father and devoted husband who cared for his wife for several years before her death. Guy enjoyed outdoor activities, including camping, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Manitou Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, Mike (Jo) Gillin, Larry (Paula) Gillin, Rebecca (Joe) Gault, Bruce Gillin and Doug (Kathy) Gillin; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Olive Mack, Isobel Randolph and Audrey Rorabaugh; one brother, Jack (Elsie) Gillin; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Gillin and Willa Jean Gillin; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alma; three brothers, Leslie, Duane and Richard Gillin; and two brothers-in-law, David Mack and Lester Randolph.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Mark Kruchkow officiating.  Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Surviving besides his wife Mary Jane are three daughters, Melissa (Richard) Miller of Harrison, Cindy (Tom) Elder of Quincy, Jo (Alston) Minor of Duluth, Ga.; three sons, Harley Eugene (Sabrina) Wilson of Hillsdale, Harley Dean (Janine) Wilson of Waldron, Raymond Lee (Lisa) Pepple of Pittsford; two sisters, Faith (Pat) Taylor of Adrian, Juanita Curtis of Hillsdale; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Henry Carl Davis, 85, of Fayette, Ohio, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.  Angels came and took him to heaven on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, with his loved ones by his side at his home. Henry was born on Oct. 23, 1924, in Napoleon, Ohio, to Elza Allen and Lillian Pearl (Noaker) Davis. Henry was a veteran, honorably discharged, of the U.S. Navy and fought in World War II, where he received multiple campaign ribbons for his service. He worked for American Chain and Cable in Adrian, Mich., until his retirement in 1980, after 29 years of service.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #368 in Morenci.  He  enjoyed square dancing, country music and was a fan of baseball. Henry will be deeply missed by his surviving sons, Richard of Tennessee, Robert Herman of California, Paul (Pat) Herman of Morenci and David Davis (Joan Hood) of Tucson, Ariz.; six daughters, Mrs. Carol (Ora) Hatcher of Sylvania, Ohio, Mrs. Joyce (Michael) Dwyer of Morenci, Lillian Warren (Rollin Lauber) of Hudson, Mich., Ms. Mary Ellen Davis of Adrian, Mich., Mrs. Delores Rayer of North Branch, Minn., Mrs. Diana (William) Mundhenk of Fayette; 45 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Harold, Clifford, Elsie and Les; his beloved wife of 45 years, Emma Davis; his sons, Oscar and Eddie Herman; daughter, Clara Jeanette Herman; son-in-law, Richard Rayer; and three great-grandchildren, Mark and Marsha Bretthauer and Rhonda Hatcher-Anaya. The family would like to thank Williams/Fulton County of Northwest Ohio Hospice of Archbold and Dialysis Center-Divita of Wauseon, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci. A graveside burial will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, where he will lay at rest next to his loved ones. The Rev. Kenneth Wayne Frahm, age 66, of Battle Creek, met his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009. He passed away at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence following a three year journey with ALS. Wayne’s positive attitude, inner peace and strength he showed during his ALS journey radiated God’s love and grace. He was an inspiration to all who met him. Wayne was born in Hillsdale on April 30, 1943 and was the son of Kenneth William Frahm and Rowena Marvel Castner. He grew-up on a farm near Quincy. Wayne graduated from Reading High School in 1961. He attended Tri-State University, where he received a Certificate of Drafting and Design in 1964. Also, Wayne received an Associate Degree from Kellogg Community College in 1995. He served his country as a draftsman in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. Wayne was employed for the Defense Logistics Information Service at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center, Battle Creek, as a Supply Systems Analyst in Air Force and Army Cataloging, retiring in December of 2006 with 25 years of federal service. He was formerly employed for 16 years at Clark Equipment in the High Rise Warehousing Systems Division. Wayne was a current member of Faith Baptist Church of Battle Creek. He was also a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Battle Creek Bible Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, youth leader and camp coordinator. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, camping and biking. On June 7, 1969, in Athens, Wayne was united in marriage to the former Martha Jean Hyde. In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by his three children, Alan (Sally) Frahm of Grand Rapids, Eric Frahm of Battle Creek and Rachel (James) Leith of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren, Cordell, Janelle, Wyatt and Elliott Frahm and Christian and Wesley Leith and his sister, Wava Jean Gano of Quincy. He was preceded in death by his parents. At the request of his family, friends may call on Sunday, Dec. 20 from 3-6 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. The funeral service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held on Monday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 13840 S. Helmer Road, Battle Creek, MI, 49015, with Pastors Jim Augustine and Glenn Huisinga officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Quincy. She has resided in the Kalamazoo area for the past 10 years, coming from Constantine and Sturgis. On Jan. 24, 1948, she married Henry S. Bir in LaGrange, Ind. He died Dec. 16, 1979. He was a homemaker and member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis. She most enjoyed her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Surviving are daughter, Stephanie J. Goodwin of Kalamazoo; five sons, Kenneth R. Bir of Bronson, Richard W. (Susan)Bir of Sturgis; Daniel T. Bir of Constantine, James P. (Kim)Bir of Ada, and David S. (Cynthia)Bir of Plymouth; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Doc)Secaur of Elkhart, Ind.; brother, Michael (Rhonda)Bolin of Austin, Texas; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, infant son, Michael; brothers, James Bolin and William (Bill)Bolin Jr.; and sister, Nancy Fuller. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been conducted. Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis with the Rev. Richard Altine officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Arrangements were handled by the Farrand Funeral Home of White Pigeon. Memorials may be directed to Heifer International, P. O. Mildred was a home care giver, a wife, mother and grandmother. To Millie, her family was the center of her life. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsdale. Surviving are two children, Paula (Curtis) Dora of Jonesville and Steven (Cheryl) Emerich of Bellfair, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two daughters, Mary Lou Emerich and Sondra Rinker. Memorial services for Mildred Emerick will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsdale with Pastor Patti Beckman and the Rev. Richard Thorp officiating. She was a daughter of the late Lyle and Bessie Tubbs Flint. She was a faithful member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church of Kannapolis, N.C. She was a lifelong volunteer at her church, various charitable agencies and a visitor to shut-ins. Mrs. Fox, in addition to her parents, is preceded in death by her husband, David R. Fox; an infant son, Michael; two brothers, Ross and Eugene Flint; and a sister, Ethelyn Flint Barnes. Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia Fox Lanspery and husband Kenneth of Kannapolis, N.C.; son, Jon Gilbert Fox and partner, Darrell Hotchkiss of Hanover, N.H.; sister, Jeanette Flint Schmidt of St. Cloud, Fla.; three grandchildren, Wendy Sarratt and husband Charlie; Jill Staton and husband Sakealo and Bryan Lanspery and wife Tonya; and six great grandchildren, Sakealo, Jr., Kiana, Kenna and Keely Staton and Jake and Andrew David Sarratt. Nancy Kay McClelland was born on Sept. 5, 1944, in Ypsilanti. She grew up on a farm and belonged to 4-H and FHA as well as other youth organizations. She graduated high school in 1962, Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in 1965, Eastern Michigan University in 1970 with a Masters in Counseling, and the University of Michigan with a PhD in Education Administration in 1986. Through her career she was a classroom teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of schools. She was the first president and charter member of Alaskan Women in Education Administration, as well as a member in good standing and as an officer in a number of professional organizations, and an Elder of the Skagway First Presbyterian Church. After retiring from education she was a law enforcement ranger with the National Park Service in Skagway, Alaska. She was a volunteer for years in the Skagway Volunteer Fire Department as an EMT III, an EMS Instructor, served as EMS lieutenant, a firefighter and a search and rescue technician. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, John L. McClelland and Estelle L. McWilliams, and her daughter, Jenny. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Frank Wasmer; granddaughter, Dainean; siblings, Laura, Lee, Ruth, David, Nina, William; many cousins in and around Adrian; and 18 grandchildren. She was mom to many children, adopted, fostered and six international exchange students. She also leaves close ties with “Nancy’s Kids”, youth from the 1970s and ‘80s that she mentored and taught in a school setting, church youth groups and youth organizations. Nancy loved children and was always happiest when she was working with children. She passed away while on vacation with her husband and granddaughters in Orlando, Fla., on Nov. 13, 2009. She is mourned and will be missed all around the world.

Phillip Ross Seybert, 85, of Sturgis, Mich., and a former long-time resident of Burr Oak passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, Dec. 12, 2009, at his home. He was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Scott, Ind., a son to the late Fred and Blanche (Bowerman) Seybert Sr. On Sept. 4, 1946, he married June Phyllis Orr in Adrian. She died Sept. 27, 2007. Phil was a graduate of Scott High School with the class of 1941. Following is graduation from high school he attended South Bend Business College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and after completing radio school at Northwestern University in Chicago, he was assigned to the USS Litchfield based at Pearl Harbor. Phil was later transferred to the rebuilt USS Holland where he served on the staff of Admiral Lockwood, Commander of the Pacific Submarine fleet. After World War II, Phil returned to St. Joseph County where he farmed and managed Seybert’s Feed and Grain in Burr Oak until the business was sold. Phil was a truck driver by trade and had driven for Seybert Inc., Grady Motor Freight, Days Transfer, O.I.M. and Indianhead Truck Line where he retired in 1982. Phil was an active resident of Burr Oak serving on the Burr Oak School Board, Burr Oak Township Board and he was a member and past board member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church. He was proud to be a life member of the LaGrange American Legion in LaGrange, Indiana and Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW in Sturgis. He always had a strong feeling of support for the military men and women and he financially supported many military groups. The center of his life was always his family; his children and grandchildren knew him as a wonderful father and grandfather. He is survived by one daughter, Phyllis (Craig) Wood of Pensacola, Fla.; one son, David (Diana) Seybert of Portage; four grandchildren, Lt. Col. Rick Fojtik, Leann Rogers, Chris Seybert and Kendra Townsend; three great-grandchildren, Shannon Fojtik, Emily June Fojtik and Ava Diane Townsend; one brother, Bill (Estelle) Seybert of White Pigeon; one sister, Lydia Wittenberg of White Pigeon; brother-in-law, Bruce Orr of Adrian and many wonderful friends and nieces and nephews. His parents; wife; one sister, Alice Jane Sherman; and two brothers, Howard Seybert and Fred Seybert Jr. preceded him in death. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Philip Seybert will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Graham will officiate. (Tubby) and Joanna L. (Gross)Buscher. He was a resident of Grass Lake since 1976, coming from Centreville where he was a graduate of Centreville High School. On Aug. 12, 1978, he married Peggy L. Green in Sturgis. He was the owner and operator, with his wife, of Buscher Lawn Mowing and Landscaing since 2003. He was a production manager and designed for Luxliner in Sturgis for 17 years. He was a member of the Moorepark Community Church in Three Rivers and enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding in his restored Mustang with his wife, ‘55 Chevies, NASCAR and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Peggy L. Buscher of Grass Lake; daughter, Leah Buscher of Sturgis; son, Warren (Corky)and Holli Buscher of Sturgis; three grandchildren, Jacob German, Kendall and Kaylynn Buscher; mother, Joanna L. Drew of Centreville; brother, Steven (Anita)Buscher of Centreville; two sisters, Patricia (Jack)Romine of Casa Grande, Ariz., Brenda (Ed)Iannarelli of South Daytona Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. (Walters) Bumpus whom he married on Feb. 14, 1948; two children, Karen (Steve) Dewey, Susan (Alan) Cook all of North Adams; one daughter-in-law, Marcia Bumpus of North Adams; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline McClue of Hillsdale; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael “Mike” Bumpus; two brothers; and three sisters. Mr. Bumpus retired in 1991 from Williams Mill in North Adams after 44 years of service. He was a member of the North Adams United Methodist Church and the Adams Grange # 286. He served as a volunteer fireman for many years with the North Adams Fire Department and also served on the North Adams-Jerome School Board in years past. At his request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Richard A. “Dick” Bumpus will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28 with Pastor Paul Hane officiating. Upmanis who preceded him in death. In 1974, he retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis where all of his friends knew him as “Bob”. He had spent the last 50 years planting and caring for his flowers and trees at his “Paradise” on the three acres of his land. He is survived by his loving family, daughter, Vija (Theo) Vredeveld, Wyoming, Mich.; son, Andy Gudrups of Sturgis; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, all of Grand Rapids; sister,  Amanda Gulbe of Latvia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lilija and Jacques Keeslar of Sturgis. Rosene Elizabeth Baker Pierce, 104, died in Hospice Compassionate Care in Richmond, Ky. on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2009. She was born and raised in Hillsdale County, the daughter of Fred and Addie Bradley Baker. She was loved and respected by all who knew her in her long life. Before her marriage to Clark M. Pierce in 1929, Rosene taught for 5 years in a country, one-room, eight-grades schoolhouse. With her husband, a high school science and agriculture teacher, she lived in Romeo, Mich. where their two children were born. When parents Harold and Gertrude Pierce died at their land grant farm in lower Michigan, Clark and Rosene moved there and took over the chicken hatchery business and later, also raised Herford steers. Rosene was a member of the North Adams First Baptist Church, Country Women’s Improvement Club and the North Adams Women’s Club. She became Worthy Matron of the OES (Order of the Eastern Star). After her husband’s death in 1993, Rosene moved to Kentucky to be with her daughter. She visited the Richmond, Ky. Senior Center for many years where she made many friends. She lived at Assisted Living McCready Manor for 11 years before health problems caused her to move to Telford Terrace. Rosene was a lover of classical music, beautiful pressed glass, crocheter of many afghans for family members and Project Linus, and a wonderful cook. A special joy at her 100th birthday party was a rumble-seat ride down Main St. Richmond with Ray DeSloover at the wheel of his Model A Ford, a key to the city and a proclamation given her by Mayor Connie Lawson. Preceding her in death were her father and mother, two brothers and one sister. Surviving are one daughter, Joan Lorna Boewe (Karl-Heinz) of Richmond and one son, Dr. Fredrick H. Pierce (Mary Jo) of North Salem, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Rosene Elizabeth Pierce will be held at the First Baptist Church in North Adams 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 with the Reverend Fred Jensen officiating. Rosene will then be laid to rest in the Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Good Samaritan Fund of St. Andrews Place in Richmond, Ky.

Sharon Marie Ortwine, 54, of Osseo, passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born April 17, 1955, in Detroit to Carl and Delia (Green) Campbell. She was married Feb. 14, 1992 to Lawrence Ortwine and he survives. Sharon loved flowers, gardening and raising birds and cats. Surviving besides her husband Lawrence, are her father Carl Campbell; a daughter, Alyssa Lambert of Hillsdale; a son, Mark Ballard of Florida; a step-daughter, Autumn (Jonathon) Kerney of Canton; three sisters, Sandra (Melvin) Johnson of Osseo, Phyllis (Richard) Sawyer of Hillsdale and Peggy Strachan of Taylor; two brothers, Carl Stephen Campbell of Adrian and David Campbell of Marquette; and three grandchildren. Sharon was preceded in death by her mother. Funeral services for Sharon M. Ortwine will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with the Rev. Thomas Mann officiating. Interment will follow at Kirby Cemetery, Adams Township. The family will receive friends for visitation 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Thomas G. McNamara, 70, of Blue School Road, White Pigeon, died Dec. 2-, 2009, at his home following a short illness. He was born Dec. 7, 1939, in Detroit, a son of Glenn and Alberta G. (Beadle)McNamara. Thomas lived his early life in Kalamazoo and Klinger Lake and was a graduate of Howe Military School. He attended college and spent most of his life in the White Pigeon area. He was owner and operator of G&ATruck Line, Commercial Leasing, a farmer and last worked with VRT, all of White Pigeon. He worked to TO-MA-GL-PA horse ranch, specializing in quarter horses. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his grandchildren, snowmobiling, camping, travel to Florida and was a three time champion in hydroplane boat racing. He is survived by three sons, Glenn (Joani)McNamara, Patrick (Shelle)McNamara, Marc (Michelle)McNamara, all of White Pigeon; nine grandchildren, Myste Kehoe, Eric Hill, Mitchell, Matthue, Melissa, Michael, Cassandra, Thomas James and Megan McNamara; special friends, Reggie and Vicki Platz and Steve and Nancy Rank. He was preceded in death by his parents. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon where services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Wilbur Brandli officiating. Entombment will be in the McNamara Family Mausoleum in White  Pigeon Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center or Three Rivers Hospice. Viola Mae Rowe, 76, of Colon, Mich., passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 2009, at the Laurels of Coldwater in Coldwater, Mich. She was born July 14, 1933, in Hamilton County, Ind., a daughter to the late Chester and Minnie (Salisbury) Inman. Viola had resided in Colon since 2000. Prior to that she had lived in Sturgis for many years and her early life was spent in the Brighton, Ind., area and she graduated from Brighton High School with the class of 1951. In 1971, she married David Rowe. She had been employed by Grumman Olson in Sturgis for 12 years. Prior to joining Grumman Olson, she had worked at the Ivers Leigh Company in Shipshewana, Ind. Viola enjoyed reading, time spent in the sun and traveling. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, David; one daughter, Sheila (Jay) Wilkins of Cummings, Ga.; one son, Marvin (Sue) Smith of Sturgis; step-daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Larimer of Sturgis; step-son, Roland (Lori) Rowe of Sturgis; eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Tera) Rowe, Alexis (Carl) Flowers, Andrea Rowe, Jake Rowe, Josh (Angela) Larimer, Merriah (Steve) Moore, Ashley (Darren) McKnight and Abi Larimer; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Alvin (Nancy) Inman of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews. Her parents; and two daughters, Franka Friend and Yolanda Friend, preceded her in death. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, (269) 651-2331. Virginia C. (Thielan) Fonger, age  88, formerly of Adrian, passed away at Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, M. Jack Fonger; parents, Harold E. and Florence (Waldron) Thielan; and sister, Phyllis J. Thomas. She is survived by her sons, Bradley (Linda) of Kalamazoo and St. Croix, Curtis Sr. (Susan) of North Palm Beach, Fla., Gilbert (Paula) of Gurnee, Ill., and Lindsay (Janice) of Kentwood; grandchildren, Reid (Melissa), Evan (Nicole), Judson (Nicole), Cullen (Kristy), Curtis Jr. (Andrea), Kyle, Jacquelyn and Celia; great-grandchildren, Josephine, Ethan and Lillian; sisters-in-law, Marjean Brillhart, Rose, Gail and Sandra Fonger; and many nephews and nieces. Virginia was born near Adrian, Mich., and graduated from Adrian Senior High School in 1939 and Western Michigan University in 1943.  She earned a master’s degree in library science in 1968 at WMU and was a member of Beta Phi Mu. She taught school for 28 years, 21 years as Lowell High School librarian. She was active in school, church and the community and was a loving wife and mother.  Virginia was a member of United Methodist Women, Evening Club, EX Libris and Lowell Museum, and after moving to Clark in 2001, she was an active volunteer in the library, the hand bell choir and resident council. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Lowell, 621 E. Main St., Lowell, with the Rev. Rick Blunt and the Rev. Dean Bailey officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Clark Benevolent Fund or Faith Hospice.
