Elizabeth wintered at Amelia Island, Florida, was an avid golfer at the Grand Ledge Country Club, a devout bird watcher and loved spending summers at Lake Michigan "Birchwood" community. He was a member of MottvilleCommunity Church in Mottville. He enjoyed yard work and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are a daughter, Lisa K. Slusher of Mottville; a son, Russell D. She is survived by her children, James Bunting, Angela Macham, Brian Bunting, David (Nadine) Bunting and Kimberly Sturtevant; her grandchildren, who called her MeMe, Elizabeth, Tasha, Amanda, Stephan, Hope, Kelsey Rose and Kelsey Alexis; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Sarah and Ana; and her siblings, Betty (Wayne) Cox, Jackie Presson, Ardyce Cox, Robert (Connie) Barth and Gordon Barth. Glenn H. Beckman, 93, longtime Reading area farmer, passed away Friday at the Laurels of Coldwater. He was born April 7, 1917, in Latte Ohio, the son of Fred and Ida (Adair) Beckman. Glenn served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a longtime member of the Reading Baptist Church. He also attended the Hillsdale United Brethren Church and formerly belonged to the Hills and Dales Square Dance Club. Glenn was a devoted family man and loved farming, gardening and attending auctions. On Aug. 20, 1950, he married Emma (Haskell), and she survives, along with two daughters, Sue Dilyard, Reading; Glenda (Dan) Mann, Camden; one sister, Edna (Jerry) Edgerton, Battle Creek; three grandchildren, Whitney, Brock and Kenton Mann. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Faye Swaney), four brothers (Otto, Ray, Carl and Claire Beckman), and his son-in-law (Roy Dilyard). Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the George White Funeral Home, Reading. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Maplewood Cemetery, Reading, with Reverend Alan Fenstermaker officiating. Glenna E. Bisel, age 101, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Thurston Woods Village. She was born Dec. 11, 1908, in Portland, Ind., a daughter of the late Oren and Anna (Stout) Grafmiller. Glenna graduated from Battle Creek High School with the class of 1928. On April 20, 1930, she married Kenneth M. Bisel in Battle Creek.  He preceded her in death June 25, 1986. Glenna had resided in Coldwater until 1949 before moving to Sturgis. She enjoyed working alongside her husband, Kenneth, in the retail store businesses from 1928-1979 and enjoyed the times they spent transporting the Amish to various vacation spots. Surviving are two sons,  Keith (Roberta) Bisel of Congress, Ariz., and Noel (Elaine) Bisel of Holland; and six grandchildren. According to her wishes there, will be no service or visitation, as cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being handled by the Hackman Family Funeral Home Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Jane was born Sept. 12, 1923 in Angola, Ind., the daughter of William Howard Atha and Hazel Helen Atha. She grew up in rural Angola, Ind., and graduated from Scott Center High School in 1941. She married her sweetheart, Ralph M. Williamson on March 29, 1947, Ralph and Jane had just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary, and he survives. She worked for Dana –Weatherhead in Angola, Ind. and retired after 15 years. She was a member of the Angola United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Scott Homemakers Club, and the Fremont American Legion Auxillary. Ralph and Jane enjoyed their winters in Florida. She loved to spend time with her family, and enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, cooking, gardening, being outdoors and family trips.   Survivors include husband Ralph M. Williamson of Angola, Ind., daughters Sharon and Harley Dodge of Missouri City, Texas and Shirlee and Marty Mitchell of Coldwater, grandchildren Lisa and Mark Veich, Brian and Lisa Dodge, Lynda and Jeff Kipp, Amy and Glen Kelly, Christa Dodge and Leslie Brown, 11 great-grandchildren, brother James Atha of Fremont, Ind. and sister-in-law Elsie Williamson of Angola, Ind. She was predeceased in 1987 by her husband of 50 years, Edward. On Oct. 22, 1949, in Seward, Ohio, she married Idean William Ladd and he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2005. June is survived by her two daughters, Amy (Gilbert) Minkel of Clearwater, Fla., and Lori Bailey of Youngstown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Anthony D. Swyers, William D. Swyers, Matthew Falor and Crystal Bailey; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Ladd; her parents and several siblings. He was born January 28, 1954, in Lansing, the son of Mary Ellen and Harris Nichols. Larry retired from the State of Michigan, and was active with the TEAM. He was an avid hunter and woodworker, and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Carson City. Surviving are his wife, Sheila Large; 2 daughters, Jessica and Danielle Large; sister, Mary (Allan) Jones; 3 nieces; and 5 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with The Rev. Kenneth L. Williamson officiating. Litty Anne (Fernsler) Moore Lansing Litty died on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at age 87. She was born June 11, 1922, the seventh of nine children to Effie M. (Grooms) and Harry G. Fernsler of rural Charlotte, MI. Litty's schooling began in the one room Gresham School for her first eight years, she then attended high school in Charlotte, graduating in June 1939. She moved to Lansing to a job at Beurmann-Marshall Printing, where she met her husband of 67 years, Alvah J. Moore. Litty stayed home until her children were all in school and then she went back to work at Michigan State University. She retired in 1999 from Michigan State University, where she was the clinical secretary in the Microbiology Department for the U.S. Government Tuberculosis Research Project for fifteen years. Her last years, she worked in the Family Ecology Department. Litty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Lowell, Harry, and Carroll; sisters, Fleta, Helen and Mildred. She is survived by her chidren, Harry J. (Susie) of Charlotte, MI, Dennis A. (Linda) of Thompsonville, MI and Dianne S. (David O'Berry) of Owosso, MI; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jodi (Eric) Updyke and son, Cullen of Charlotte, NC, Wendi (Jon) Pitchford and children, Alex, Tye, Jacie and Jaylee of Portland, MI, Nathan Moore and friend, Angelika of Lansing, MI, Kirsten J. Louis Frederick ‘Todd’ Everett, 88, of Constantine, went to be with his maker Friday, April 2, 2010, at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Centreville, following a short illness. Louis was born March 9, 1922, in Florence Township, a son of Michael T. and Jennie (Weaver) Everett. He farmed in his youth and worked construction most of his adult life. Louis served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. On Nov. 22, 1947, he married Patricia Dimmick in Three Rivers. Louis and his wife enjoyed camping and traveled all around Michigan. He also enjoyed his ponies and antique tractor shows. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Pat Everett of Constantine; a daughter, Lynn (Gordon) Clevenger  of Centreville; two sons, James (Gayle) Everett of Three Rivers and Richard Everett of Constantine; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six step-great- grandchildren; a sister, Leona Glase of Elkhart, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Everett of Lawton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lyle Thompson; three brothers; and four sisters. Per his request, cremation has taken place. There will be no public service. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose.She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and visiting piers and lighthouses in Michigan. A handyman with a big heart, who always had time to help others, he built custom cabinets, decks, repaired roofs and plumbing and was always eager to help. She also loved interior decorating, traveling, scrapbooking, floral arranging and most of all spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, G.W. Wood Sr., 80, of Butler Township passed away Tuesday at Battle Creek Health System.  He was born August 26, 1929, in Eaton County, the son of Vern L. and Nettie Fern (Gable) Wood.  Norman graduated from Quincy High School in 1948 and was a self-employed heavy equipment operator. Survivors include his wife Florence “Flo”; one daughter, Michele Wood, Nubinway; three sons, Norman (Roberta) Wood Jr., Butler Township; Douglas Wood, Butler Township; Douglas Wood, Butler Township; Bruce Wood, Butler Township; three stepsons, T.J. Rogers, Butler Township; Timm (Kellie) Rogers, Butler Township; Carl (Diana) Rogers, Butler Township; an aunt, Barbara Bender, Quincy; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His parents, one sister and one grandson preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the George White Funeral Home, Litchfield, with Reid Waffle officiating.  Interment will follow in Whig Center Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.

He was born October 12, 1927 in Napoleon, Mich., the son of Milton and Greeta (Touse) Rutan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara Rutan and two brothers, Louis and Bruce Rutan. He is survived by his wife, Helen F. (Goodman/Horton) Rutan; five children, LeeAnn (David) Reese of Jackson; Robert (Deborah) Rutan of Jackson; Sue (Nick) Serafin of Horton; Dan (Jane) Rutan of Hillsdale; and Jon (Theresa) Rutan of Hillsdale; 14 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 22 step-great- grandchildren; two brothers, Lee Earl (Doris) Rutan of Stockbridge; Milton (Kathy) Rutan of Columbus, Ind.; four sisters, Florence (Marshall) Johnson of Arizona; Gayle (George) Ruff of Colorado; Mary Lou Hammer of Clark Lake; and Alice (Harvey) Hill of Colorado Springs, Colo. and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rutan served his country in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. He was a member of Cambria Baptist Church and a faithful attender of the Gospel Barn in Hillsdale. He worked for many years as a builder and built many homes in the Jackson County and Lenawee County areas, and he also had a passion for farming. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Paul Richard Rutan will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Don Harkey officiating. Interment will take place in the Somerset Center Cemetery in Somerset Township. The family will receive friends for visitation 2-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home in Hillsdale. Ruth is survived by two sons, Lewis Barnett of Tempe, Ariz., and James (Ella) Barnett of Tecumseh; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Woodard, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Raymond, Carl and Lewis; two sisters, Carrie and Naomi; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Barnett.
