Anna 'June' Gage Anna "June" Gage, age 90, died April 10, 2010. She is survived by her son, David. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Ralph W. Gage in 1978. She was an active member in three different churches in the Detroit area in her lifetime, Boulevard Temple in Detroit, Lola Valley United Methodist Church in Redford and Knox Presbyterian Church in Harrison Township. June retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1959, worked for Detroit Suburban Newspapers and was manager of Villa Du-Lac Condominium. Visitation and Services will be held at the Wm. R. Hamilton Co., Mount Clemens on Friday, April 16, 2010, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. with services following. Burial will be at a later date with a private family ceremony at Mt. Brian Wozniak Brian Wozniak, age 51, a lifetime resident of Warren, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at Karmanos Cancer Center/Harper Hospital in Detroit after a courageous battle against colon cancer. Brian was born July 16, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Bernard and Delphine Wozniak. Brian was the devoted father of Ryan and the loving brother of Annette (Robert) Pocica, Carolyn (John) Tatge and Michelle (Richard) Guzzo. Also, Brian was the proud and loving uncle of Nicholas, Madeline, Emily, and Audrey. Brian was a helpful and generous friend to many and will be in our hearts forever. A Memorial Mass for Brian will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m., April 15, 2010 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 11200 Twelve Mile Road Warren. Celebrating the Funeral liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Bruce Hannon Bruce Hannon, age 88, departed this life on Sunday, April 11, 2010, in Leesburg, Florida after a brief but valiant fight against cancer. Devoted son of the late John and Theresa Hannon, he is predeceased by sister Margaret Rich, brothers Robert, Thomas and Stuart Hannon. He is survived by sister Virginia Welnack, brother William Hannon and numerous nieces and nephews. As a toolmaker at the Chrysler Mound Road Engine plant before his retirement, he was one of the problem solving "go-to guys." In addition to being an accomplished welder, carpenter and builder he was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman — a true example of the Michigan outdoorsman. Services are pending.

Carol R. Kratzer, 92, of Allen, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Hillsdale Community Health Center. She was born Sept. 20, 1917, in Allen, to Barnard B. and Charlotte E. (Kemp) Howard and graduated from Allen School. She worked on the farm alongside husband, Franklin F., whom she married Sept. 20, 1939. Carol was a member of the Hillsdale County Extension for 15 years and a member of the Allen United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, history, gardening, canning, baking and especially her family. All of the farm help loved her cooking. She is survived by two daughters, Helen (Lee) Burlew, Hillsdale and Evlyn (Leon) Parrish, Quincy; one son, Duane (Brenda) Kratzer, Allen; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, one sister (Hilda), one brother (Kenneth) and sister-in-law (Marie). Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13 at George White Funeral Home, Quincy, with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow in Allen Cemetery. Cathy Lynn Gousetis Galesburg Formerly of Lansing, Cathy Gousetis passed away Saturday, April 11 at home under the care of Hospice with her family at her side. With her last breath it was comforting to know she has gone to be with the Lord whom she loved so much. Cathy loved her grandchildren and always put family first. She loved sewing, crafts, camping and covered thousands of miles in Michigan with her husband exploring every dirt road and peaceful picnic lunches in quiet places. She lived in Florida most recently where she enjoyed Scuba diving with her soul mate, Nick. During her illness, Nick and Cathy moved back to Michigan to be closer to family and she was a member of Galesburg United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Nick; 2 daughters, Angie (Donnie) Lewis and Kristen (Josh) Blom; son, Tom Christopher; 5 grandchildren, Emerson Lewis, Tayler and Andrew Blom, Tommy and Brianna Gousetis; sister-in-law, Pam Thomas; 2 brothers, Larry (Vickie) and Doug (Kathy); many nieces and nephews. He was born July 22, 1949, in Hillsdale County, the son of Dale and Eleanor (Winner) Hammond. He is survived by his mother; Eleanor “Virginia” Rhoades of Hillsdale; three daughters, Stacy (Joseph) Hodges of Quincy, Kimberly “K.C.” Saxton of Jonesville, and Christina (James) Young of Jonesville; one son, David Hugh Hammond of Georgia; one stepdaughter, Francine (Richard) Nickles of Reading; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers; one sister and his fiance’ Debbie Swafford of Colon. He was preceded in death by his father; one brother and one grandchild. Mr. Hammond worked for many years as a prison guard for the State of Michigan Department of Corrections in Jackson and later worked in the Quality Control Department at the Eaton Corporation in Three Rivers. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. David Gale Hammond will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in North Adams with the Rev. Paul Pickell officiating. David Louis Drolshagen East Lansing Age 50, died April 11, 2010. He was born February 14, 1960 in Detroit to Ruth and Jim Drolshagen. David attended Christ the King Elementary in Detroit, Our Lady of Victory in Northville and graduated from Northville High School. David attended, and was a dedicated fan of, Michigan State University sports. He met Patricia O'Hearn in 1992 and shared his life with her until he died. He began his career in landscaping, followed by pharmaceutical and media sales. David was an active volunteer for Children's Miracle Network and served as vice president of the Brookfield Neighborhood Association. David will be remembered for his kind heart, his passion for MSU sports and his deep love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to Patricia, survivors include David's six brothers, two sisters, 14 nieces and nephews, a large extended family and loyal friends. Visitation will be held Saturday April 17 at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be donated to Children's Miracle Network, c/o the Sparrow Foundation and The Spartan Fund of Michigan State University. Donald J. Berkley, 83, of Tecumseh passed away April 10, 2010. Donald was born March 4, 1927, in Milan, Mich., the son of Rollo and Vera (Hoskins) Berkley. On August 20, 1949, he married Bonnie J. Buttolph in Britton. She preceded him in death July 17, 1986. Donald was a graduate of Milan High School, Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan with his master’s degree. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific and the Philippines during World War II. In 1988 he retired from the Tecumseh Public Schools teaching and serving as Junior High School Principal for 37 years.    He was a lifetime member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, served on the Tecumseh School Board and was a member of the Episcopal Church. Don is survived by a brother-in-law, Arthur Keller of Milan; brothers Gerald Berkley of Milan and James Berkley of Oregon; a cousin, Sue Martin of Holt; special dear friends, James (Janet) Toole of Tecumseh, Tom (Erin) Toole of Connecticut and Charles (Sue) Gross of Tecumseh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Bonnie, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert and Orlon; and sister, Betty. At Don’s request, a private burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.  A service to honor Don’s life will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the J. Durwood  Sadewasser, 87, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, April 8, 2010, with his family present. Durwood was born on Dec. 19, 1922, to Fred and Martha (Holtz) Sadewasser.  He married Beryl (Fennell) Warble on June 14, 1947 in Centreville, Mich.  She survives along with their daughters Connie (Bill) Meyers and Cathy (Alan) Hawkins, both of Elkhart; eight grandchildren, a number of great grand-children, three nieces and one nephew.   He was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis (Warble) Sullivan, his sister, Donna Gloor, and his brother, Dale Sadewasser.   He was involved in farming, maintenance and was an all-round handyman, being skilled at home carpentry and woodworking.  On July 4, 1951, he and Beryl were baptized and became faithful witnesses  for  Jehovah.  Durwood will be remembered for his zeal for Bible study, meetings and the ministry.  His bright smile, love of life, and his humor will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.   Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. April 17 at the Elkhart North Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1921 Jeanwood Dr.  with Elder Ron Marshall officiating.   Memorials may be given to the Elkhart North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart is assisting with arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.billingsfuneralhome.com.

Fredric William Michael “Fred” Germaine, PhD, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2009 in Corpus Christi, Texas after a short battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 17, 1940 in Coldwater to Fred LaVern and Willetta Pearl (George) Germaine. Fred proudly served this country in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was a member of the United States Air Force Pistol and Rifle Team and traveled the nation for competitions. Fred completed seven years of college earning many degrees, his most recent being Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Health and Safety. He retired as Environmental Administrator from the Ginesee County Health Department after 24 years of service. He was past president of the Michigan Environmental Health Association. He received many awards during his career. After retiring, Fred started up a second career as a financial advisor. Fred’s passion was running, and he won countless races in Michigan, Texas and many other states. He completed the Boston Marathon twice. Fred was a loving husband and father. He leaves behind his wife Paula (DeMatt) Germaine; his son Ryan Germaine of Milwaukee, Wisc., one happy dog and seven lazy cats that he adored. May he rest in peace. A short graveside service with military honors is scheduled at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 5 p.m. Following the services, the family will receive friends for fellowship at Union Church of Quincy on Fulton Road.

Jeanette May Dunn, age 86, of Three Rivers, went to be with her Lord on March 28, 2010 at Riverview Manor.  She was born May 5, 1923, in Three Rivers, a daughter of Marshall and Gleeola (Driesbach)Prange. Jeanette has been a lifelong resident of Three Rivers. She was employed for more than 25 years at Three Rivers Area Hospital, eventually retiring as the administrative secretary to the director of nursing, of which she was extremely proud. She and her husband loved to travel, often taking their grandchildren with them, and truly loved spending time with family and friends. On May 19, 1942, Jeanette married the love of her life, Mr. Raymond Dunn.He preceded her in death, along with her parents, brothers Jack and Charles Prange, and infant sister, Ethel Prange. She leaves to cherish her loving memory a daughter, Patricia Brundige of Three Rivers; a son, Michael (Cathy) Dunn of Three Rivers; a  brother, Marshall (Arlene) Prange II of Three Rivers; grandchildren Michelle (Marty) Wegner of Freeland, Jill Brundige of Delton, Dr. Lorrie Brundige of Three Rivers, Jennifer (Mitchell) Hutchinson of Jupiter, Fla. , Kimberly (Stephen) Wojcieszak of Okeechobee, Fla., and Kristy (Marcus) Moss of Palacios, Texas; great-grandchildren Emily, Brent, and Eric Wegner, Aubrey and Cody Wojcieszak, and Wesley and Kolby Moss;  and many friends. A memorial celebration of Jeanette’s life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Centre Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lyne Stull-Lipps (Centre Park United Methodist)  and Pastor Kevin Terrell (Temple Baptist Church) officiating. Memorials may be made to the Three Rivers Health Hospice. John Raymond “Ray” Neagu, age 60, of Three Rivers, died Monday, April 12, 2010, at his home following a 10-year illness.  He was born in Gary, Ind.,  on June 15, 1949, the son of John and Katherine (Garvey) Neagu Jr.  He graduated from Merrillville High School and later attended Indiana University.  Ray served in the U.S. Army before returning to Indiana where he worked for U.S. Steel in Gary.  When poor health forced his retirement, he worked briefly for Ameritech and for Hallmark R.V. in Bristol, Ind.  Ray had an appreciation for antiques and enjoyed photography. Ray is survived by his mother, Katherine Neagu of Centreville;  a sister, Doreen Mudrich (Pete) of DeMotte, Ind.; two uncles, Nick Neagu and George Neagu and wife, Jan;  an aunt, Dorothy Konopacki; and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father and by a nephew, Peter John Mudrich. Cremation has been conducted.  A military committal of his ashes will take place later in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Mich.  Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers. Marvin was a member of New Hope United Brethren Church and enjoyed playing cards at the Montgomery Legion. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and hero and was always there if anyone needed help. He loved attending grandchildren’s activities and athletic events. On March 7, 1959, he married Shirley Clampitt and she survives. Also survived by: two daughters, Tammy (Greg) Gruber of Deerfield, Tracy (Chris) Shaw of Camden;  two sons, Jeffrey (Jean) Sieler of Blissfield, Timothy (Debra) Sieler of Sawyer; one sister, Joann (John) Trent, Ariz.; two brothers, Ralph (Mary Ann) Sieler Jr. of Arizona; Kenneth Sieler of Arizona; 13 grandchildren: Cody, Jesse, Alex Sieler, Dalton, Devin, Grace Gruber, Shelby, Zachary, Carissa Sieler, Kevin and Emily Kirk, Heather and Dawson Shaw. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the New Hope United Brethren Church with Pastor Don Gentry officiating. She was born in Mount Clemens on January 29, 1954, to Raymond J. and Patricia A. Erskine Ballor. She was a graduate of Mount Clemens High School, class of 1972, a member of the USAF from 1972-1976. She obtained her BSME from Michigan Tech and upon graduation, went to work at General Electric in Morrison, Illinois as a mechanical engineer until she left GE in 1994 to assist in the care of her mother and her sister, Christine. She truly cherished the time she spent with her family and friends doing the many things she loved to do: travel, attend her nieces' sporting and cultural events, card playing, golfing, hiking and "rum-running". She was very strong in her faith which she lived out as a volunteer for Perpetual Adoration, Meals on Wheels, and as the primary care giver for her sister. Mary Beth is survived by her siblings, Theresa (Robert) Polakovich, Christine, James (Christy), Barbara (David) Coy, John (Angela), and Richard (Lee) and predeceased by her parents. She was preceded in death by two bothers, Clifton “Kike”  Salisbury and Lee Salisbury. Mickey retired from Crown International (Harman) in Elkhart on July 13, 2007. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose.She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and visiting piers and lighthouses in Michigan. A Private Family Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place, with inurnment at a later date in Rice Cemetery. On Aug. 24, 1963, she married Jack R. Raymond in Whittaker, Mich., and he survives. Jean was a member of Berean Baptist Church, where she enjoyed decorating, working with the senior citizens and helping with missions and banquets. She also loved interior decorating, traveling, scrapbooking, floral arranging and most of all spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, G.W. McFry of Canton, Mich; one daughter, Johnna (Adam) Camacho of Adrian; two sons, Jay (Colleen) Raymond of Holland, Mich., and Justin (Angelle) Raymond of Adrian; three siblings, Gary Wayne (Sylvia) McFry of Piketon, Ohio, Yvonne (Jim) Caruana of Wayne, Mich., and Ron (Kathie) McFry of Canton, Mich; and five grandchildren, Jasmine, BreAnne, Jacob, Kaya and Jeffrey. Mrs. Lapham was a member of Northshore Wesleyan Church, New Baltimore, the Algonac V.F.W. and the Lions Club. Surviving are six children, Darlene (Lyle) Snay of Algonac, Fay Wallace of Algonac, Gail (Louie) Ritzer of Chatham, Ontario, Alan (Angie) Lapham of Kentucky, John Lapham of Louisiana and David Lapham of Algonac; many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Ottilia (Tillie) A. Sohn East Lansing Ottilia (Tillie) A. Sohn, age 101. Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2010. She was born on July 13, 1908 in Fowler, Michigan to Joseph and Regina Feldpausch. Tillie worked in the family linen supply business until well into her 90's. She was one of its founding partners in 1933 and following the death of her husband, Joe Sr., in 1972, Tillie served as President of Sohn Linen Service for 22 years. She was an incredible woman who has taught all of us so much about life; appreciating life, being a great wife and mother as well as grandma. Tillie, you have been a great inspiration and role model for all of us. Tillie was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and a board member of the Education Foundation. She was a long time member of the League of Catholic Women, Association of Catholic Business Women, and the Lansing Council #788 of the Knights of Columbus (K of C). Tillie and her husband, Joseph P. Sohn, were founding members of the Table Top Association of Greater Lansing. Tillie was a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing, and an avid Spartan fan. She is survived by her six children. One daughter, Karen Edly of Lansing and five sons, Ken (Marilyn) Sohn of Houghton Lake, Joe (Pam) Sohn of Okemos, Don (Mary Jo) Sohn of Woodland Park, CO, Jim (Jan) Sohn of St. Johns, and Larry (Coleen) Sohn of Aloha, OR, 21 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Roman Feldpausch of Fowler and James Feldpausch of Fowler, and one sister, Sr. Corinne Feldpausch of Nazareth, MI and numerous nieces and nephews. Tillie was preceded in death by Joseph P. Sohn, her husband and companion of 40 years, who were married in Fowler, MI on June 18, 1932. She was also preceded by one sister, Julia Martin, of Fowler and four brothers, Sylvester, Harold, Leo, and Louis Feldpausch of Fowler. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing with the Rev. Michael O'Brien, Parochial Vicar, officiating. He worked for many years as a builder and built many homes in the Jackson County and Lenawee County areas, and he also had a passion for farming. Rex Weinberg, age 89 of Kline’s Resort, Three Rivers, died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the Three Rivers Health emergency room.  He was born on April 1, 1921, in Vicksburg, a son of the late Watson and Zella (Davis) Weinberg. After high school, Rex worked at the Parchment Paper Mill before he met and married Frances Marker on Aug. 16, 1941, in Kalamazoo. Rex was a farmer in the Vicksburg and Mendon area, later settling at a home on Hampton Road. He and his wife operated a dry-cleaning and laundry business, and a John Deere farm equipment and lawn and garden center in Vicksburg for several years.  He was a member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau, and had served on the board of directors for the Federal Land Bank.  He was a 50-year member of the West Mendon United Methodist Church, and had spent the past several winters in Florida. Rex is survived by his wife, Frances; a son and daughter in law, Ron and Pat Weinberg of Mendon; a son-in-law, Patrick Jergens of Three Rivers; five grandchildren, Sheli  (Doug) Cupp of Three Rivers, Troy  (Sandra) Weinberg of  Three Rivers, Jeff (Elizabeth) Jergens of  Sturgis, Robin (Mark) Parks of Mendon, and Tim (Tonya) Jergens of Mendon; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilber (Ruth)  Weinberg of Mendon; a sister, Lois  (Dick) Henry of Glen Arbor; a brother-in-law, Wayne Marker; two sisters-in-law, Mary Roberts and Maxine York; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyle and Wilson; and by a daughter, Carolyn Jergens.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the West Mendon United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ward Pierce officiating. Ron was part owner of Worden Brothers of Coldwater, then later went to work for T & M Oil Division of Thompson-McCully Company and Asphalt Materials Incorporated of Oregon, Ohio. He loved his work and put his heart and soul into everything he attempted. When he was semi-retired, he enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. Ron brought a smile to everyone around him and one always looked forward to seeing him and sharing a good laugh.  In addition to his first wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Madge Worden and his sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Larry Kaley. Ruth Alice Miller, 94, formerly of Allen, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Fenton.  She was born Dec. 28, 1915 in Allen to Eugene and Grace (Wade) Todd and graduated from Allen High School in 1934. She married F. Roy Miller Nov. 9, 1935 and he preceded her in death in 2003 after 67 years of marriage. They made their home in Bloomfield Hills for 52 years. Ruth was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church. She and her husband enjoyed many years of traveling in their motor coach. Survivors include sons Fred (Carol) Miller of Highland and Doug (Salani) Miller of Howell, grandchildren Heather Ezell, Todd Miller and Genie Dudley and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters Greta Bradley, Arla Jarvis and her twin, Ruby McClintic, brothers Gould, Enos, Morris, Barney and William Todd and an infant son. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:30 a.m., at the George White Funeral Home, Quincy, with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow in Allen Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled Friday from 2-4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Memorials are suggested to the Allen Historical Society.
