Lorenzo Salazar

Monday, July 12, 2010 6:53 AM

Sept. 5, 1924 - March 5, 2010 Lorenzo Salazar was born Sept. 5, 1924 in Arcada Township, Gratiot County, Michigan, to parents Antonio and Josephine Salazar; he was one of fourteen children who were raised in Alma. He graduated from Alma High School and served as a Seaman First Class Gunner's Mate in the Navy in World War II. In 1960, he transferred with Redman Trailers to Dallas, Texas, with a wife and three children, Mary Ann, Mike and Neil. He made Irving, Texas his home, the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks his teams, and retired after 45 years of service with Redman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed playing card games, croquet, dancing, reading the paper, travelling, caring for his roses, eating any kind of ice cream, but vanilla was his favorite, and taking care of Toby, his dog. He always said his dog was just as stubborn as his brother Toby, hence the name. He left this world on March 5, 2010, to pursue bigger and brighter things in the next and as his great-grandchildren will tell you "to eat all the ice cream he wants in Heaven." As we look up into the clouds we know they are right…He's just busy picking his next flavor… and watching over us all. - We love you!
