Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

He will also be remembered for his charisma and the way he touched people on a personal level. Karen L. Van Zandt Kalamazoo It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Louise Van Zandt announces her passing on Thursday morning November 4, 2010. After a brief battle with cancer, Karen passed away at the age of 66 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born August 3, 1944 in Mount Clemens, MI the daughter of Carl W. Ratzow and Elma (Bures) Ratzow. Karen was employed by Consumers Energy for 42 years in Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and the Lansing areas. She retired from there in 2007. Karen married Ray D. Van Zandt on October 4, 1969 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek; however the marriage ended in divorce. Karen is survived by her two loving daughters: Sarah and John Boven of Plainwell, MI, and Jennifer and David Grace of Vicksburg, MI; her long time companion and best friend - Les Gearhart of Kalamazoo, MI; five grandchildren: Shelby Grace and Casey Grace both of Vicksburg, MI; Jordan Grace of Ada, Ohio; Sadie Boven and Lucas Boven both of Plainwell, MI; two sisters: Elma Carpenter and Virgene (R. Douglas) Franks all of Battle Creek, MI; and Maggie her dog. She was preceded in death by her father: Carl Ratzow, her mother Elma Ratzow, her former husband: Ray Van Zandt, and brother in law - Arthur Carpenter. Karen graduated in 1962 from Union City High School, studied at KCC for 2 years. She came to Battle Creek in the early 1960's from Union City and moved to Kalamazoo in 1994 to be close to her daughters. Karen enjoyed traveling and reading; however, her favorite past time was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. The oldest of five children, Rob loved to spend summers up north with family and friends. Summers were spent fishing and roaming the woods and fields of our beautiful state. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa. Joseph "Joe" A. Dimmick Lansing Joseph died November 3, 2010 at the age of 56. He was born in Lansing, MI on October 1, 1954. He graduated from Ball State University, and worked for Michigan Millers Insurance Company for 20 years. Joe was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and played in their praise band. He was an avid fan of, and the Minnesota Vikings. Joe was caring, loved life, enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing softball with his colleagues at work, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Most of all Joe loved his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. George W. Dimmick, and brother, Franklyn. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; daughter, Stacy; son, Brian (Ashley); mother, Pearl (step-father Donald E.) Walter R. Hudson Battle Creek Walter R. Hudson, 94, died Thursday, November 4, 2010. He was born September 6, 1916 in Burr Oak, Michigan the son of William J. and Helen M. (Gazella) Hudson. A 1934 graduate of St. Charles High School in Coldwater, Walter served in the, from December 9, 1943 to January 4, 1946. He had worked at Legg Lumber Company, Blue Diamond Lumber Company and retired in 1980 from U.S. Lumber Company. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was an usher and lector and a former member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council in Coldwater. On June 25, 1938 he was married to the former Evelyn Florence Wotta, who survives. Also surviving is his son: Dr. Jack Haciak of Oregon; one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons: James, Patrick and Mark. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the rosary service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Very Reverend Father Robert F.
