In Memory of Susan Snyder You were taken away from your family and friends 10 years ago today by a drunk driver that hit you "Head On", I thought of all the yesterdays I thought of all the love we shared, and all the laughter we had (around the dinner table). We have been lonesome and hope God is enjoying you as much as we did. How did we give you up? Susan was known for her love of life, laughter and dedication to thousands of her Girl Scout's and God's children. Sadly missed by your mother, brothers, many relatives and special friends.

Margaret Rose "Rose" Shields

Margaret Rose Shields, "Rose" Margaret Rose Shields, "Rose" as she was affectionately known to her family, was called to her Lord and Savior in the early hours of November 6, 2010 after a short illness. Rose was born October 29, 1925 to James Arthur and Leona (Hofer) Shields, both of whom have passed on to eternal salvation in advance of Rose. Rose was blessed with a loving family and in turn provided a tremendous amount of love and compassion to her family members and others in her life. Rose always put other people's needs before her own. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Charles Patrick Shields, at age twenty-one (21) while serving his country honorably in World War II; and by her beloved sister, Anne Marie Hardy on January 18, 2010. Rose is survived by her baby-sister (age 81), Ruth Eileen (William) O'Brien of Kalamazoo. Rose attended St. Philip School and was a life long member of St. Philip Catholic Parish - receiving all of her sacraments there. Her faith and her parish were central to Rose's life. She could be found for parts of eight decades at mass during the week and weekends and she helped the school and parish throughout her entire life. Rose was a very active Catholic and often attended perpetual adoration services. She encouraged her nieces and nephews to pray and had them copy and recite our Lord's Prayer as homework, when they were children. Rose's faith was a tremendous example for others and will be missed. Cremation has taken place and a Mass for Rose will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church in the near future. Those interested in remembering Rose are encouraged to pray the rosary in her memory and to have masses said for her and her sister Anne Marie. Arrangements are by Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.
