Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Germaine A. Long Battle Creek Germaine (Gerry) A. Long passed away Friday November 5, 2010 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence with her family by her side. She was born on January 10 , 1929 in Sheboygan, WI the daughter of George and Josephine (Hoffman) Ristenpadt. Gerry was a 1947 graduate of North High School in Sheboygan, WI. On September 3, 1955, Gerry was united in marriage to James (Jimm) F. Long (of Flint, MI) at St. Dominick's Catholic Church in Sheboygan, WI. Jimm and Gerry then moved to Battle Creek where they raised their family. They were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church and later moved their membership to St. Jerome Catholic Church. Gerry was employed at Security National Bank. Following that she was a secretary for Channing Corporation. She then became a legal secretary for Sullivan, Hamilton, Ryan, and Shultz Law Firm. She also worked for Fredrick Woodruff, Attorney at Law. Gerry later retired from The Title Company of Battle Creek. Gerry's hobbies included bowling, crocheting, knitting, playing cards with friends. She also liked bingo, visiting casinos, crossword puzzles, and dancing. Gerry was an avid Detroit Tiger fan and rarely missed a game. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and wonderful grandchildren. Surviving family members are her five children, Kristine (Matt) Williams, Brett Long, Kathleen (Michael) McCauley, of Illinois, Valerie (Michael) Miller, and Theresa (Terry) Kerr. There are also seven grandchildren, Danielle Wolf (fiancé Brandon), Cole Williams, Cody, Cassidy, Logan and Lexus Kerr, and Lauren Long. Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Jimm in 1998. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.Tuesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where a Rosary will be recited at 7p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Wednesday Nov. 10, 2010 at St. Jerome Catholic Church with The Rev. Mathew Manalel officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. He was predeceased by his parents Catherine and Adeeb Howrani. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ameen will be remembered for changing the look of photography by capturing the powerful faces of everyday people in a compelling way. He will also be remembered for his charisma and the way he touched people on a personal level. At the time of his death, Ameen was working on a book, a 40-year retrospective of his photography in Detroit. A memorial for Ameen will be held on Friday, October 8, 5-9 p.m. at his studio. Nedra L. Wolfe Leonidas Nedra L. Wolfe age 89, passed away, Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Birch Adult Foster Care Home in Leonidas. Nedra was born April 9, 1921 in LaGrange, IN a daughter to the late Earl and Elta (Mehl) Norris. Nedra grew up in the Shipshewana, IN area, graduating from Shipshewana High School. She later continued her education at Elkhart Business College where she met her future husband Ray. On March 2, 1941 she married Ray E. Wolfe in Howe, IN. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2001. Nedra took care of the bookkeeping for there Grain and Feed Business and Lumber Business. She later worked for many years for Ferrari's Enterprises in Battle Creek as their Bookkeeper. Nedra was an active member of the Leonidas Bible Church, a member of the Colon Eastern Star Chapter #9l, along with her husband Ray had organized the Leonidas Do-Best-4H Club, working with 4-H as a leader for over 50 years. She had traveled to Sweden as a youth counselor for Youth for Understanding and had 8 different exchange students stay with them over the years. She is survived by one daughter; Phyllis (Stanley) Copenhafer of Fulton, two grandsons; Alan (Linda) Copenhafer of Vicksburg and Dean (Connie) Copenhafer of Clinton Township, two great grandsons; Jeffery (Jackie) Copenhafer of Galesburg and Mikel Copenhafer and fiancé Janessa Waddell of Saulte Saint Marie, a brother Milburn (Lois) Norris of LaGrange and special friend; Tomoko Hosoe of Hawaii. Besides her husband Ray she was preceded in death by one son, Royce A. Wolfe, grandson; Monte R. Wolfe and great grandson; Derek R. Hull, one sister and two brothers. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 9, 20l0 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Nedra L. Wolfe will be Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Leonidas Bible Church with Pastor Curtis L. Bennett and Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa. Ruth Anne Isaacson Foster Ruth Anne Isaacson Foster, 56, went home to be with her family unexpectedly on November 5, 2010. Ruth was born March 3, 1954 in Detroit to John and Alice (Boisvert) Isaacson. After living there a few years, she moved to Vermontville, MI. Ruth married Kenneth McBrayer in the 1970's and divorced in the early 1980's. Together they had three children, David, Shannon, and Chris. Ruth picked herself up and ended up in Bellevue, MI, getting her high school diploma in the late 1980's. One thing Ruth believed in was getting an education and taking care of her family. Ruth had formerly worked at Airway Manufacturing and the Village Bar. Ruth would later marry Bill Foster on September 2, 1995, the happiest day of her life. Ruth enjoyed gardening, taking care of chickens and her two dogs, Ace and Princess, and her two cats, Mr. Tibbs and Smokie. She got the most enjoyment out of taking care of her husband Bill. Ruth was a very caring and good-hearted person. Ruth is survived by her husband, Bill Foster; a son, David McBrayer; two daughters, Shannon McBrayer and Chris (Jim) Foster; a step-daughter, Soyna (Keith) Ray; and six grandchildren, Ashley Ray, Elezabeth Bartholomew, Kimberly Goodman, Austin McBrayer, Joseph Nickerson, and Mitchell Foster. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael Isaacson, and a daughter, Michelle. Velma E. Brown East Leroy Velma E. Brown, 101, passed away Saturday November 6, 2010 at home. She was born on November 10, 1908 in Kent County, MI to Hugh D. and Matie (Fisher) Stout. Velma graduated Valedictorian from Cedar Springs High School in 1926. She received her Life Certificate in Rural Education from Western State Teachers College in 1932. Velma taught for 8 years in one room schools in Kent and Calhoun Counties. She married Leslie H. Brown on July 3, 1934, he preceded her in death on October 3, 1990. Velma was also the secretary and business manager for Brown Sign Service from 1934 to 1970, her husband, Leslie's business. She is survived by a daughter, Arleta R. (Merle) Witzki, of East Leroy, grandchildren, Cynthia (Rick) Teachey, and Cheryl Knapp, both of Lexington, KY; Marcia (John) Adkins, of Versailles, KY; Shawn Witzki, of San Jose, CA; Michelle (Garrett) Tooman, of Battle Creek, great grandchildren, Amanda Knapp, Chelsea (Jon) Hollingsworth and Gavin Tooman, a brother, Raymond H. Carolyn "Connie" Skinner Eaton Rapids Age 86 of Eaton Rapids died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Eaton Community Hospice following a severe heart attack 13 days earlier. Born November 2 1924 in Onondaga Township, the daughter of Glen and Gladys (Neff) Stimer. Connie worked along side her husband Max in the family business for 45 years. She enjoyed shopping, sewing and keeping connected with friends. For the last two years she resided at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility and made many new friends with residents and staff. Preceding her in death were her parents, Husband, Max; and brother, Keith Stimer. Surviving are her loving daughter, Sharon (Chris) Bigelow and son, Larry (Jill) Skinner all of Eaton Rapids; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
