Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Elmer Paul Terwilliger Battle Creek Elmer Paul Terwilliger, 90, passed Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Reflections Memory Care in Battle Creek. He was born December 13, 1919 in Ann Arbor, MI the son of Charles and Bertha (Eberle) Terwilliger. He married the late Leona (Davis) Terwilliger on August 13, 1948 in Angola, IN. Elmer entered in the Michigan Air National Guard on October 1, 1940 and retired in 1975 as a Chief Master Sergeant. Elmer served during WW II in the South Pacific and in the Philippine Islands. He had also owned and operated a Service Station and worked for United Steel and Wire. Elmer enjoyed working on his MG and Triumph sports cars. He was still riding his motorcycle at 80 years old. Elmer enjoyed camping and fishing, he was the past president of the Camp Thornapple, Inc. in Hastings. He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge where he was a Third Degree Mason. Elmer and his wife, Leona, liked to go square dancing. He also held a private pilots license. He is survived by his daughter, Bobetta (William) Stockham; granddaughter, Stephanie (Steve) Labbe; grandson, David Stockham; great grandchildren, Benjamin Labbe, WillIiam Labbe, and Jacob Stockham; special friend, Leota Bradley; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Terwilliger. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Wednesday from 1:00-1:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor Robert Nystrom of Birchwood United Methodist Church officiating. She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. Nellie was a volunteer with the Battle Creek Leila Hospital Auxiliary and Burnham Brook. Nellie enjoyed crafts, books and basket making. Surviving is a daughter, Penny (Pete) Manarin, and a son, Dana (Kathy) Andrews; 3 grandchildren, Deborah (Kurt) Esselink, Tony (Kim) Manarin and Emily (Brian) Jervis; 6 great-grandchildren; special niece, Pat Stewart Leonard. The oldest of five children, Rob loved to spend summers up north with family and friends. Summers were spent fishing and roaming the woods and fields of our beautiful state. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa. Richard J. "Dick" Raymond Battle Creek Richard J. "Dick" Raymond, 69, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Battle Creek Health System. He was born on November 17, 1940, in Albion, the son of Victor E. and Ardella Irene (Fitzgerald) Raymond. Dick was an outstanding athlete while attending Springfield High School. He graduated in 1960. After high school Dick began his training to become an optician. He married the former Janett Elliott on July 27, 1963. Dick was a devoted husband to her during their 47 years of marriage. Dick joined the United State, in 1966 and served as an optician at Fort Sam Houston Medical Center. After his discharge he returned to his work at Brunner Optical of which he later became a partner. During his career he was also employed in the office of Drs. Graham Colquhoun and Paul Geiser. He retired from the office of Dr. P. Jeffery Colquhoun. Dick had great love and pride for his family and grandchildren. He was also well known for his sense of humor. His interests included hunting, fishing, bowling and Detroit's professional sports teams. Dick enjoyed spending time at their property at Sunset Cove in Quincy where he was fond of visiting with his friends and neighbors. Surviving Dick, in addition to his wife are his daughter Christine (Elgin) Young of Bluffton, SC and his son Thomas Raymond of Holt. He also leaves his grandchildren Courtney and Camden Young and Jackson Raymond. He also leaves his nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his sister Beverly Woods. Walter "Ray" Myers Scotts Walter Raymond (Ray) Myers passed away at home on Sunday, October 10, 2010 surrounded by the love of his family. Ray, a life-long resident and dairy farmer, was born April 29, 1927 in Kalamazoo, to the late Walter Ray and Wilhelmina (Robyn)Myers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lela M. (Wilcox) Myers and children, Laura (Larry) Needham of Scotts; Lynn (Paul) Steele of Portland, Oregon; Louise Aeed of Vicksburg; Laraine (David) Van Lopik of Schoolcraft; Richard (Dawn) Myers of Scotts and Robert Myers of Scotts; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Davis and Patricia Penney of Scotts; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jena Louise Aeed; his parents and sisters, Virginia Penny, Margaret McElvain, and Wilma Clark. Ray was very proud to have served in the US Army as a Quartermaster from 1954 to 1956 in Germany. Upon his return to the United States, Ray and Lela settled on the family dairy farm in Scotts where they raised 6 children, teaching each of them about hard work and family. He had tremendous compassion for people and for helping others, often taking in family and area teens on the farm and providing them with work opportunities in a family environment. He always had an open door for anyone. Ray also had great respect for the land and for animals, passing on this love to future generations of his large extended family. As a farmer usually is, Ray was a "jack-of-all-trades" who loved history and science, often providing his children with "extra information" on these subjects. As the only boy, Ray was called "Bud" by his sisters who adored him and with whom he shared a close relationship throughout the years. Ray loved Sunday dinners with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren who will fondly remember "Papa". Ray loved square dancing, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling especially in his younger years. Funeral services will be held at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 East Maple on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Gilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Following the interment, the family invites everyone to a luncheon at the Scotts Community Center, 8450 S. 36th St., Scotts, MI. Williams Josephine Mabel (Nee Kramer) Age 80 of Utica, died peacefully Saturday, October 2, 2010 after a 7 year battle with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her only daughter Donna (Michael) Kemper, her niece Marie (David) Vanker, and her nephews John Kramer and Raymond (Yvonne) Kramer plus several grandnieces and grandnephews. Jo graduated from Capac High School in 1948 and worked for Sears for 32 years. She loved gardening and animals. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Wm.
