Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Jack Lawrence Palmer Battle Creek Jack Lawrence Palmer, 86, longtime resident of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 following a short illness. He was born October 25, 1924 in El Reno, Oklahoma the son of Dewey C. and Beatrice (Stockel) Palmer. A 1941 graduate of Kingfisher High School Jack was class Salutatorian and played the leading role in the senior play. In 1943, Jack joined the U.S., Air Corps at the age of 19 and served 20 years at various posts foreign and domestic, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. A few years after his retirement from the USAF, Jack moved to Battle Creek to serve with the Department of Defense. He worked almost 20 years at the Federal Building, serving for part of that time as a Computer Systems Analyst engaged in tracking the vast inventories of the DOD. He received several commendations before his subsequent retirement from the DOD. While in retirement Jack traveled, researched and collected materials and ultimately established himself as a recognized leading authority on the first recording star of country music, Vernon Dalhart. He published the first full-length biography of Dalhart in 2005 (Vernon Dalhart-First Star of Country Music) and was in the process of gathering photos and other documents for a revised 2nd edition at the time of his illness. Jack also remained actively involved in studying other topics of long-time interest, including old time radio performances, Route 66 history and lore, the Rock Island Railroad line, the music of Mozart, and the comic operas of Gilbert and Sullivan. Despite his many rarefied interests, in recent years his chief delight was the companionship of his loving grandchildren. Survivors include his siblings: Dewey H. Palmer of Macclesfield, England, Paul (Nancy) Palmer of Spring Branch, TX and Beatrice (Charles) James of Vernon, TX; his children: Ginger Hall of Wichita Falls, TX and Patricia Ellen (Chris) Alexander of Battle Creek; grandchildren: Jeramy Marines of Wichita Falls, TX, Scott (Carmen) Hall of Sherman, TX, Melissa Fisher, Jaden Alexander and Dru Alexander all of Battle Creek; several great-grandchildren; six nieces; seven nephews; several great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins as well as several stepchildren, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Kathryn B. "Kaye" White Battle Creek Kathryn B. "Kaye" White, age 86, died Thursday evening, October 28, 2010, at home surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. Kaye was born on May 15, 1924 in Battle Creek and was the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Landers) Katz, Jr. She was a lifelong Battle Creek resident and a 1942 graduate of Battle Creek Lakeview High School. Kaye loved her animals especially Bullseye, The Dog and she enjoyed completing Word Search Puzzles. Kaye had a very extensive Cow Statuette collection and during her later years, was a fan of the Turner Movie Classics on television. She was an avid bowler usually at Spring Lake Lanes or M-66 Lanes, had been Secretary for the league for over 50 years and had been bowling, just a month ago. Kaye was a member of TOPS. On February 11, 1944, in Battle Creek, Kaye was united in marriage to Hugh E. White. Surviving is her husband of more than 66 years, Hugh; her daughter, Gayle Ann (Stephen) Carpenter of Jackson, MI; two sons, Darryl Hugh (Toni) White and Terry Glen White, both of Battle Creek; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her sister, Norma Waterbury of Battle Creek; two brothers, Norman (Marcia) Katz of Ellenton, FL and Stanley (Julie) Katz of Ceresco, MI; and her half-brother, Gary (Connie) Katz of Battle Creek. Kaye was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gordon Katz. At the request of her family, friends will be received on Sunday, October 31st from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Radtke Robert Paul 59, of Bloomfield Hills. A proud family life with Lynn, his wife, and daughters, Sarah and Alyssa. Grew up in Northwest side of Detroit and attended Henry Ford High School. The oldest of five children, Rob loved to spend summers up north with family and friends. Summers were spent fishing and roaming the woods and fields of our beautiful state. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa. Darlene Annette Spitzley Delta Township Age 48, passed away, Thursday, October 28, 2010. Darlene was born September 24, 1962 the daughter of Donna (Benda) Foster and stepfather, James. A Lansing area resident all of her life, Darlene graduated from Holt High School. She was working at Sparrow Hospital as a nurse for the last three years. Darlene has been a member at Trinity United Methodist Church for 13 years. Darlene's life revolved around her family, especially her two daughters who were the light in her life. A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Angelia in 1998. Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Tim; daughters, Amy and Amber Spitzley; brothers, Edward Foster and Steven (Angie) Foster; sisters, Teresa Heinlen and Lisa (Casey) Reynolds. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and many friends.
