Charles John Vincent Dry Ridge, KY Charles John Vincent, born May 22, 1937, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2010 while living in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. Charles is survived by three siblings, Alden Vincent of Michigan, Bill Vincent of Kentucky and Loretta Clark of Alaska. He is also survived by a daughter, Nita Mae Morris of Oklahoma; granddaughter, Tara Bland of Oklahoma; and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jessie and Jasper of Oklahoma along with many nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service at Nashville Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on October 10, 2010. There will also be a service at Fort Custer National Cemetery 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Charles will be missed by many family and friends.

Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

David E. Baker Battle Creek David E. Baker, 36, of Battle Creek passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 2, 2010. He was born in Battle Creek on July 25, 1974 the son of Charles P. and Christina L. (Dowsett) Baker. David worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver and was currently a good and dedicated student at Davenport University. David is survived by his 3 wonderful sons whom he loved so much and of whom he was so proud of, Christopher David Baker, Nicholas Edward Baker and Phillip Gray Baker; his fiancée, Susan Ayers; his father, Charles (Julia) Baker; 2 sisters, Grace E. Foxworthy and Laura E. Ellison; 3 nieces; a nephew; and special friends, Miriam Wendt and Mary and Ernie Ruthruff. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christina L. Baker and grandparents, Marguerite and Phillip Shook and Edward J. and Olga Dowsett. David was an intelligent and sensitive man with a big heart and was truly an inspiration to his kids. He had a fine dry sense of humor, loved to entertain, was a great cook and enjoyed watching sports and was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. David had a passion for music, was a huge fan of Motley Crue and inspired his children to adopt his love of music. He enjoyed caring for animals, reading, history, movies and was a very good writer. Funeral services to celebrate David's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Sokukoji Temple, 33 Anderson Ct., Battle Creek. Radtke Robert Paul 59, of Bloomfield Hills. A proud family life with Lynn, his wife, and daughters, Sarah and Alyssa. Grew up in Northwest side of Detroit and attended Henry Ford High School. The oldest of five children, Rob loved to spend summers up north with family and friends. Summers were spent fishing and roaming the woods and fields of our beautiful state. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa. Ronald E. Mell Battle Creek Ronald E. Mell, 76, of Battle Creek died unexpectedly Friday, October 1, 2010, in Jackman, Maine at Mountainview Resort with his wife and daughter and son-in-law. Ron was born November 12, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan to Edgar E. and Helen (Cleary) Mell. He grew up in Lincoln Park, attended Calvary Lutheran School and then completed four years as a cadet at Concordia Lutheran High School in Ft. Wayne, IN. Ron came to Battle Creek to work as an announcer for Radio Station 1400 WELL and became their program director for many years. Ron was employed for S. H. Leggitt Company/Marshall Brass Division for over 35 years prior to retiring. After retiring he worked part-time for Progressive Dynamics in Marshall. He was still doing consulting work for S. H. Leggitt Company prior to his death. Ron married Lorena Ann Bakalar in Ft. Wayne, IN on December 15, 1950. Surviving are Ann, his wife of 59 years; two daughters, Sherry (Ron) Anderson of Battle Creek, Sandy (Mike) Niemiera of Bolingbrook, IL; a son, Rick (Joy) Mell of Battle Creek; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlene Sjostrand of St. Louis, MO. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Thomas E. Mell. Ron was a member of Redemption Lutheran Church. Previously he was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church for 51 years, where he was president, the choir director and an Elder for 14 years. He was a prominent member of the L. P. Gas Board of Directors and set many of the current standards in use today. He was a longtime member and officer of the Battle Creek Optimist Club, was its president 1963-64 and Optimist of the Year in 1964. Ron was known for his beautiful voice, was a 55+ year member of the National S.P.E.B.S.Q.A. Barbershoppers Society and a member of the local chapter where he was a bass with the award winning Harmony Hounds. With the Harmony Hounds he performed throughout the country for over 10 years. In 1970, as a Harmony Hound, he served the U.S.O., touring and entertaining the troops in Japan. In late 1973 he went to England with the Hounds to judge England's first Barbershop Quartets and then toured Europe for three weeks. He also directed both the men's and women's Sweet Adeline Choirs. Ron loved singing, fishing, golfing and traveling and was a woodworker who enjoyed making furniture and toys. At the request of the family, friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where they will be received 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate Ron's life will be held at Redemption Lutheran Church, 2450 W. Michigan Avenue in Battle Creek, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
