Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Debra Anne (Ward) Bailey Battle Creek On October 5, 2010, Debra Anne went home to be with our Lord, after a long battle with cancer. Debra was born April 15, 1961 in Detroit, MI. Debra attended schools in Holly, MI; Ypsilanti, MI; and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1979. In the summer of 1978, Debra was an exchange student to Belgium. After high school, Debbie attended Manatee Jr. College in Bradenton, FL while also managing a Bealls Dept. Store. Debbie returned to Battle Creek in 1983 and attended WMU and worked at J C Penney and Meijers store. While in California, Debbie worked for Coast General Insurance. In the mid 1990's Debbie worked for Pennfield Schools at Purdy Elementary as a playground assistant. Debra was a member of the Calhoun Co. Quilter's Guild and an avid quilter, making many quilts for family members. She was also active in Binder Park Golf First Tee with her family as well as many school activities. Debra was also involved in a local "Bridge" Club. Debra married Rick K. Bailey on June 9, 1990 in Battle Creek and left for Oxnard, CA where Rick was stationed in the Navy. Rick survives. Debra is also survived by their three children, Rick K. I., Meghan Marie, and Christopher R., all students at Pennfield Schools. Debra is also survived by her parents, Harry and Patricia Ward, of Bushnell, FL; brother, Harry "Skip" Ward III, of Lansing, MI; sisters, Susan (Todd) Robbins, and Elizabeth (Kenneth) Dunn, of Battle Creek; and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws, and special friends. Debra was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Scbeulah Ward, Irvine and Florentine Ewles, her parents-in-law Kenneth and Rosalie Bailey, and her cousin, Lisa Marie Ewles. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday October 11, 2010 with Pastor Derek Malone of Victory Life Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations are made to the "New Day Foundation" or College Fund for the Bailey Children (make out to Rick K. Bailey).

Dollene Ann Frost Battle Creek Dollene Ann Frost, age 56, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Borgess Medical Center. Dollene was born on July 13, 1954, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Leo and Bonnie (Clark) Felczak. She was a graduate of Detroit Pershing High School in 1972, then attended Oakland University and Kellogg Community College. She had been a resident of the area for over 30 years. On May 7, 1997, she was united in marriage to Randy R. Frost who survives. She was employed at the Kellogg Company as a manager for 19 years, then as a realtor with Stetler-Vanderveer, Jaqua Realtors and most recently with ERA Real Estate. Dollene was a member of the National Management Association and the Michigan Realtors Association. She was a very giving person and enjoyed being with her family. Surviving are children, Dan (Renee) Motz, Kyle Kucharek and Sarah Kucharek; 2 grandchildren; brother, Brian (Linda) Felczak and a sister, Reggie (Robert) Sondervang. She was preceded in death by her parents. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of South Central MI.

Franklin George Lutz Ceresco Franklin George Lutz, age 91, of Ceresco died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Clare Bridge Adult Care Facility in Battle Creek. Mr. Lutz was born on December 25, 1918 in Ceresco to George and Belle W. (Maisner) Lutz. He was a life long resident of this area. He had been employed by the Kellogg Company for 31 years, retiring in 1982. On March 1949, he married the former Darlene G. Richmond in Indiana. She preceded him in death on October 28, 1983. His family was always a familiar sight at the county fairs, training and racing horses. He is survived by daughters, Judy E. Lutz of Battle Creek and Suzanne Bailey of Coldwater; step-daughter, Annette Shulters of Pontiac; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Lutz, step-son, Gerald E. Auburn; grandson, Frankie Lee Lutz; sister, Ella Frost and brothers, Ray Lutz and Earl Lutz. John Alvin Vandegriff, Sr. Battle Creek John Alvin Vandegriff, Sr., 90, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Battle Creek Health System surrounded by his children. He was born April 16, 1920 in Bethel, OH the son of Alvin and Sarah (Daley) Vandegriff. He married the late Virginia (Chingwa) Vandegriff on September 21, 1952 in Northville, MI. John served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years in addition to working other jobs like a night watchmen at Knappen-Milling to provide for his family. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force he worked and retired from Clark Equipment. He had been a member of a number of organizations including the Saladin Shriners, Scottish Rite Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons, 33 Degree Mason, Lodge 398,, , American Legion, and The Eagle's. John was also a member of the St. Jerome Parish. John loved tending to his plants, cooking, spending time with his family, and especially playing cards. For many years he looked forward to his bi-weekly meetings at the Knights of Pythians and made sure he was on there time. John is survived by his children, Eileen (Duane Blankenship) Yeager, John (Linda) Vandegriff, Jr., Grant (Tammy) Vandegriff, and Laura Ure; he was especially proud of his grandchildren, Larry, Tony, John III, Sean, Alexis, Jenny, Samantha, Shalyn, and Alec; great granddaughter, Alaila; good friends, John Forney and Jo McClenney. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; parents; grandson, Daniel Yeager; favorite son-in-law, Tim Ure; his brothers and sisters. Radtke Robert Paul 59, of Bloomfield Hills. A proud family life with Lynn, his wife, and daughters, Sarah and Alyssa. Grew up in Northwest side of Detroit and attended Henry Ford High School. The oldest of five children, Rob loved to spend summers up north with family and friends. Summers were spent fishing and roaming the woods and fields of our beautiful state. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa.
