Clarey Rita Mae July 22, 1926 - October 1, 2010. Rita's spirit has risen to heaven to meet her God, her husband and eldest son who preceded her in death. Soon she will be a part of a very special and long awaited McCrady Reunion with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Her death will bring to close a generation whose memories we will all cherish. Her last days were spent in the peace and comfort of her home in Sparks, Nevada with her daughter Peggy Clarey and son-in-law, Fred Conner. Rita was born at the farm on Pumping Station Road. Fairfield County, Ohio. She grew up in Sugar Grove, Ohio, attended and graduated from Berne Union School in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Rita was the youngest child born to Charles and Rosemary (Shonebarger) McCrady. Rita was married to Wilbert A. Clarey for 56 years before his death in 2006. At that time she moved to Nevada to live with her only daughter. She had four children: Daniel (Linda), Peggy (Fred), Bruce (Alise), and Andrew (Laura). She had six male grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a Nurses Aid at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital for over 20 Years. G.C.O.H. is located less that one block from the family Home on Cardwell Street, Garden City, Michigan. Her interests included playing cards, bingo, casino gambling and creating Jewelry Pictures. With "Web", she became an active and enthusiastic member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, starting in the mid 50's at Johnsons Post #78, on Joy Road in Detroit, Michigan, and ending her service at Battle Born Post #9211 on VFW Historic Lane in Reno, Nevada. She was anointed by Father Norman King from the Immaculate Conception Church. Her remains will be at the Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Instead of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be PAID FORWARD.

Dr. Melvin J. "Cy" Tessin

Dr. Melvin J."Cy" Tessin Battle Creek Formerly of Kalamazoo, Dr. M. J. "Cy" Tessin passed peacefully away on October 13, 2010 in Battle Creek, after a brief illness. He was 82. Dr. Tessin was born on March 17, 1928 in Plymouth, the son of Carrol (Jack) and Lila (Dell) Tessin. Dr. Tessin was raised in Marshall, and graduated from Marshall High school in 1946. He graduated from Albion College in 1950 before serving in the U. S. Army during the, , 1950-1952, as a Medical Assistant. On June 6, 1953, Dr. Tessin married Elizabeth (Liz) Gail Collins in Marshall. Cy and Liz were married almost 48 years before her death in 2001. Cy worked for Consumers Power Company (CMS) in both Jackson and Kalamazoo. He received a MBA from Western Michigan University in 1964 and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western in 1972. He taught Management and Personnel as an adjunct Associate Professor in the College of Business at Western for many years before becoming personnel Director at Kalamazoo College. In 1978, Dr. Tessin became owner and President of Management Recruiters of Kalamazoo, an executive search firm, which provided over 30 years of service to the business community. Dr. Tessin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Liz; one sister, Carol Jean Clark; and an infant brother, Robert. He is survived by his two sons: Timothy J. (Cindy) Tessin of Raleigh, NC and Todd C. Tessin of Coldwater; two grandchildren: Rebecca (Allen) Franklin of Warner-Robbins, GA and Andrew J. Tessin of Raleigh, NC; one great-grandchild, Aiden Franklin; step-granddaughter Shanna (Gary) Driscoll of White Lake; a step-great granddaughter, Maddison Driscoll; 3 nieces: Cindy Collins, Janice Clark, and Kendra Clark; and a nephew, Steve Clark; and friend, Marcia Palmiter of Battle Creek. Cy and Liz traveled the world together, were avid MSU Spartan fans, and enjoyed the company of many great friends, neighbors and employees. Friends will be received Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Life Story Funeral Home, Betzler-Kalamazoo 6080 Stadium Drive 375-2900. A service to honor Cy's life will be held Saturday, 12 noon at the funeral home. His final resting place will be next to Liz at Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall. Radtke Robert Paul 59, of Bloomfield Hills. A proud family life with Lynn, his wife, and daughters, Sarah and Alyssa. Grew up in Northwest side of Detroit and attended Henry Ford High School. The oldest of five children, Rob loved to spend summers up north with family and friends. Summers were spent fishing and roaming the woods and fields of our beautiful state. Rob graduated from Oakland University and then the National College of Chiropractic in Illinois. He worked first as an associate of George Goodheart, founder of Applied Kinesiology and later practiced privately in Birmingham for 25 years. His ability to reach bodies, hearts and minds was legendary. Rob was gifted at articulating the pilgrimage towards consciousness. Rob was the enthusiastic president of Kirkwood Lake Association for 20 years. Rob loved to fish with his brothers and friends on the beautiful Michigan waterways. All those who knew Rob knew he was the facilitator of fun and joy and true engagement in life. Survived by beloved wife Lynn and daughters Sarah and Alyssa. Gerald Duncan Krapf Lansing Gerald "Jerry" Krapf, 70, of Lansing, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 11th, 2010 after a 2½year battle with primary liver cancer. Jerry was born November 5th, 1939 in Lansing, MI. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Robert Franklin Krapf, his mother, Lorraine Odell Kline Harper and his brother, John Franklin Krapf. Jerry married his beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara Fosgate-Shaffer Krapf, on September 8th, 1962. Together, they raised a son, Robert Paul Krapf, and daughter Cheryl L. Krapf-Haddock (Phillip K. Haddock, II). Jerry adored, and is also survived by, his two grandchildren, Alexander Brett Haddock and Francesca Nicole Haddock. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Carolyn (Mike)Alquist of Seattle, Washington, his uncle, Donald (Goldie) Krapf of Anacortes, Washington and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Jerry served in the, from 1956 to 1962 traveling the world on the U.S.S. Des Moines as a Petty Officer 3 & 2, Machinist's Mate, Seaman and Fireman. After the United States Navy, Jerry spent 44 years in the Automotive Service Industry managing the Body Shop, Parts, and Service Departments for GM Dealers. Jerry was an avid Hunter and Fisherman and he was also a nationally recognized Horse Shoe Pitcher. Since retiring and up until his death, Jerry volunteered for the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Eaton County as well as working on his daughter's recent political campaign. He loved life and never quit enjoying each moment of it. Visitation will be held at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw in Lansing on Friday, October 15th, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 16th at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 431 E. Saginaw, East Lansing, with President John A. Coakley officiating. There will be viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
